Psalm 83: A study from end times perspective

The confederate grouping of immediate nations of Israel determined to cause their destruction is the prime reason the nation is walled today; and has such an emphasis on military reprisals. It makes sense, therefore that Antichrist will formulate his peace treaty after aiding Israel in defeating the surrounding nations. This makes the future Ezekiel 38 war with outer nations make more sense; since after such a covenant they will indeed feel secure; and probably rapidly become an unwalled nation. If Antichrist is involved with the many other nations such as Iran, Turkey; Syria; and the southern Mediterranean Muslim contries and likely the Gulf states already leaning in that direction; it would seem to insure that all remaining threats have been taken care of. In light of Saudi Arabia's plan to control the Dome of the Rock mosque; there are already signs that the Palestinians aren't really a concern to them; and a shifting control which would benefit the rest of the Muslim world to get a foothold there at the places of worship.

We should also examine the countries such as Turkey which are highly radical; yet have Imams meeting with the Sanhedrin today. There is a mutual desire for combined worship among Jews, Muslims; and Apostate Christianity particularly focused with recent activities with the Vatican. Much of the mystical branches of Islam; as well as other Eastern religions are seemingly close to development of a world wide "Babylon" religion. This is verified by recent Popes having prayer groups from all religions including tribal. We see ecumenicalism; and of course the Kundalini type manifestations in many churches today.

Antichrist must utilize this religion the first few years before he destroys it so that he can get all the worship himself. It is likely the 10 kings are already established as most leaders possess an antichrist spirit and are looking for one world government.

Thank you GiGi & Rick for those good comments. I offered mine, not in any way to oppose what you wrote, but to state my belief of the nature of God's descent by His Spirit upon His Son. I feel, hopefully wrongly, that some here & certainly in many churches, that the dove emblem might just become an assumed physical nature of the Holy Spirit rather than simply a description of His coming upon Jesus.

Did Jesus even need to have the Spirit come upon Him? Not at all, but given as visible proof to John & I feel, a part of Jesus' Own Words given at His request to be baptised, "it becometh us to fulfil ALL righteousness": not only for the baptism but also the Father's further identification & approval (by the Spirit) of the One He sent ( John 1:33) - that John (and those after him who read these words) may also know this special One, anointed of God, sent by God, & fulfilling all the demands upon Him by His Father.

Thank you for the reply back, yes I do know there are some things we aren't to understand & mysteries as well. I'm trying my best to understand,as I was growing up I went to Church,& depended on my Pastors to teach what was right & now that I'm older & been online I have learnt I was mis-guided in many ways. Especially since I only learned 6yrs. ago about the Pagans, the traditions & mans along with it,I felt ashamed that the most of my life I find I've been in mockery all along. As well some say the KJV Bible, which is all I have ever had, wasn't the real Bible & I should read the Araibic or the Torah. And Jesus is not Jesus,His real name is Yeshuwa (???) & also that we shouldn't say Amen. I just Pray, that God knows my dilemas with all this & leads me the right way. Oh,& also that calling on the Lord is something of the pagans tradition(??) I would like to get in a Church that was right & didn't cling to pagan traditions,,even alot of my friends & Family have turned against me since I haven't been involved . Just trying to follow & do Gods ways & hope I go to Heaven,,& Blessings to you.

Gigi My understanding in John 20:22+23 he was explaining for the future, in John 16:7 he says the

Comforter, the spirit to come after as he says he is Glorified, and that occurred when he Sat at Gods Right

Hand and completed His ministry on Earth. It was not available to receive permanently gift of Holy Spirit

until pentecost and to be received we confess out saviour from sin and from the heart Romans 10:9+10

and believe in your heart. It's your privilege to believe what you will. Moving onward to the bema!

  • Rick Mentzer - In Reply - 4 years ago
Chris That's my understanding, it was specifically for john the baptist both the vision of the dove and the voice from what I've read, and then John announced who he was behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. It says sin because his sacrifice paid for the consequences of the condition we are born in sin when we believe.

    Choose to believe..

I think you don't know the power of Jesus Christ...he has mighty power and God the father gave him that power...he can to do anything ..not here to argue but he is as powerful as the Father...God put part of himself into a human, and that Human was and "IS" Jesus Christ who has the same power as his Father..he died on the cross willingly for the sins of the whole world..and he rose himself from the Dead three days later...he is the great "I AM" meaning he is the true son of God with Gods power to do anything he wants..he has no limits...and he will be back to collect his chosen ones.in hid own time of choosing when "HE" is ready... we need to get out souls prepared for that day...Jesus Christ is ALIVE ..he is the "LIVING GOD" ...your beliefs must not be the same as my belief..becouse he has no limit what he can do...

    Blessings to you and yours

    Catherine.

    Chris,

You are right. The writers described how it appeared to them. But the actual Presence of the Holy Spirit was probably not an actual dove. was responding to Alex's post that seemed to say that the Holy Spirit appeared as a dove.

But, as you said, I think the descent was like a dove. Just as at Pentecost, the tongues of fire were not the Holy Spirit, nor the wind, but are what God used to signal His Presence coming upon each believer in the room.

    Hi Bro Spencer,

You stated: "I hear often how simple scripture is to understand bur yet the Bible is the most debated collection of books ever."

I feel many are blessed with " a simple way of understanding" when reading, and comprhending, the scriptures. I pray to God everyday for the wisdom to fear God, and for God to bless me with his Holy Spirit for his guidence while studing his Bible Scripture. I believe that God blesses me and can only attribute this ease of my understanding to the Holy Spirit.

I'm sure many can look for deeper understanding on various aspects of scripture in the OT and NT, Jewish laws, Prophesies, Geneology, Language differences, History, and a multitude of other subjects. Including never ending debates on these issues. I attribute this to man being man!

I enjoy the many historical aspects, but my major interest lies in the "gospel of Jesus Christ", and his message of salvation. God wants his message of salvation to be simple, and easy to understand. I'm also compelled by the Spirit to help others understand God's simple message of salvation.

    2 Timothy 3:15-17

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. God Bless

I was responding to what you said in your post. "They had no spiritual understanding of what he was communicating until they were born again at Pentecost." The text does not say that they were born again at Pentecost. They were believers before Pentecost and were gathered together as Jesus instructed, praying and praising God. In John 20:22J, Jesus breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit does not indwell un-regenerated people.

I believe that what Jesus spoke happened at that moment. What happened at Pentecost was another work of the Holy Spirit that happens after conversion.

You and others have repeatedly spoken that salvation comes when one confesses with one's mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. I am pretty sure that the disciples had done this as a result of their experience with the risen Lord before He ascended. The Scripture nowhere says that an experience such as at Pentecost is the means of salvation. It is what God brings to already regenerated persons

So, for me, I believe that Jesus gave the disciples the teaching and understanding they needed to believe the gospel and take the gospel to the world prior to His ascension. The power to perform miracles, speak in tongues, and to be courageous in the face of opposition and persecution came at Pentecost. That is my point in responding to what you pointed about these disciples. You spoke as if you knew for sure that they were unsaved prior to Pentecost because, I believe as you seem to imply that that experience is the means of salvation rather than that in Romans 10, that you have often cited as the means of salvation.

Therefore, I understand what you said about the natural and spiritual man. You assumed that the disciples were not reborn and therefore had not a spiritual man in them. I contend that they did. I think Jesus was more than able to accomplish all that was needed in is disciples before He ascension. God Bless.

Hi GiGi. In my understanding of Luke 3:22 & other Gospels referring to the Holy Spirit's descent, each of them describe that vision "as a dove, or like a dove". I realize that it's popular to depict that event as an actual dove descending upon Jesus after His Baptism, but it would seem hard to believe that God would use an animal to represent Himself (e.g. Exodus 20:4; Romans 1:23). Rather, I believe that what the Gospel writers were describing, was the manner of the Spirit's descent, made visual by God for man to behold, & that descent was in the slow, gliding, maybe fluttering manner as of a dove. So, I don't see a picture of a bird here, rather an object of God's design, coming upon His Son as His witness for man's sake.

I would treat describing the Spirit appearing in that instance as a dove akin to us describing the other persons of the Godhead in picture or statue form. Just my thoughts on that time of Jesus' inauguration into ministry.
