  • GRACE_ambassador {ChrisE} water baptism today? - In Reply - 4 years ago
Precious Jesse, I concur with "what you have seen" about the 'baptismos' washing of Israel for the 'priesthood' - I believe it is "washing hands and feet" in Exodus 30:19-21 my 'study'

    about "Prophecy For Israel":

Israel's 'water' for the priesthood = various washings

    Part 1 Link

    Part 2 Link

Rightly Divided ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ) From "Things That DIFFER!":

Thus, in "The Revelation Of The Mystery," for us, The Body Of Christ, I "see TWO requirements" (NO 'blemish' and 'anointing for power') 'missing' for the 'priesthood,' and Furthermore, Only ONE Baptism, for 'spiritual identification' With The Body Of Christ:

    Link

And, a further note, cannot find 'anything' about the 'priesthood' in any of our 'apostle of the Gentiles,' Paul letters in Romans - Philemon, in "The Revelation Of The Mystery." my 'study'

    Prophecy vs MYSTERY: Link

    Great discussion...

Jesse Yes I have extensively studied this field and then the problem was so to speak asking Father which

direction to go in again because of the diversity of ideas or thoughts in this field. Again if it doesn't line up

all of scripture delete mentally and walk in Love and to me the proof sings miracles and wonders followed.

If 1 Corinthians 12:1-12 is not broken down in original language too much is missed that's my opinion and

understanding. Our God is a God of order so everything in regards to operating what we have been given

should be done in and reflect His order.

jesse Scripturally what I see is the Gift is one holy spirit but the operation of that grace given is according

to an individuals walking on Gods Word first and foremost then as needed we are given the how why what where

and when by the spirit specific to a situation. One example in my life, many years ago my son was an infant

crawling up stairs from a basement got to the top to crawl out and the big wooden door got hit with wind and

slammed on his body. i ran over and Father said hold and don't look at him and pray for his head and neck and

walk around the yard and pray perfectly [SIT]in silence. Two minutes later was told put Him down he's healed

I put Him down and he crawled around like nothing happened. The next day our neighbor came over after watching

the whole situation ask what I was doing and I explained and he wind up Born again and His Family. As I said

before this area of understanding the gift and operation thereof is one of the most misunderstood areas of the

christian church. It is the operation of spiritual power or Gods solution to any situation.

    RLW,

Thank you, and blessings to you also! Maybe when I meet our Lord face to face, He'll hand me that marker? I know that's not going to happen, just materialistic thinking on my part!

    Alex,

thanks for your response. Even though water baptism represents two things, cleansing and identification, I would agree that the water does not wash away sin. I would agree that only the blood of Christ removes sin. Cleansing is different than completely removing sin. That's why the Jews even to this day, they get water baptized. They hold a MIKVEH (Baptism) once a year, every year, right after what they call TESHUVAH. To them, it represents cleansing so that if the Messiah would comes during that year, they would be covered!

Jesus was baptized, not because He had to, but He said it was to fulfill all righteousness. It is the fulfillment of Exodus 29:4. To fulfill all righteousness! It tells us that at 30 years of age, that is the age of the priesthood. According to Numbers 4:30, it was 30 years of age. The priest had to go through a MIKVEH, a baptism. They had to be baptized from head to toe. The washing, or the MIKVEH of the priesthood is in Exodus Chapter 29 Verse 4.

So, from that point on, no one could say that He did not meet the requirements of the law to enter into His priesthood ministry!

    Rick,

I think this is how the Charismatic Movement got started, where a bunch of believers though they were given all these "gifts" and that they needed to get out there and put those gifts to use. It comes from the word Charisma. Did you know that the word itself (Charisma) simply means the expression of God's grace?

I think you mentioned that you study the Greek some. Something that I've noticed is that in the New Testament, almost every place we see the word "gift," or "gifts," it is the word Charisma. I say this because I see a lot of people talking about God giving them various "gifts," but there is only one place in the Greek New Testament where the word gift means a gift that is given to us.

When we look at 1 Corinthians 12:4 that says "Now there are diversities of gifts," we see the word gifts in our English bibles, and we automatically assume that God gives us these various gifts. But this is not true according to the original text. As I mentioned, there is only one place where we see the word gift being used where it means a gift that is given to us.

It is the word DIDOMI which means a gift that is given. As a matter of fact, there's only one thing in the New Testament that the word give is used for, and that's the Holy Spirit. According to the bible, the Holy Spirit is the only gift (DIDOMI) that is given to a believer. We're not given any other "gifts." Every place else where we see the word gift, or gifts in the bible, if it's the word Charisma, it's not a gift that is given to us, it's an expression of God's grace. In many places, the word gift/gifts is in italics which means it doesn't belong there.

I just thought I'd share this. You may have already studied the words out.

Brother Another interesting point in Mathew 8:24-26 the word tempest is the word [seismos] look familiar like

perhaps earthquake because it came on quick and almost sank them, also i agree with you again this guy was

woke sound sleeper and just stops everything and I'll bet it was dead calm. I'll bet they needed potty paper on

that one. Again my sense of humor. He was the Master of His Surroundings and rightfully So.

    Hi Sister Donna,

You bring up a very real issue that has been discussed from time to time, over the years. Are we to be baptized per Matthew 28:19 where Jesus directs us to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, or Acts 2:38 where Apostle Peter states we should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

So, Jesus gave a clear directive for the disciples to baptize "them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them all that I have commanded you". While some scriptures refer to baptism in Jesus' name like Acts 2:38 without specifically mentioning the Father and the Holy Spirit, none of these contradicts Jesus' instruction to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Many will conclude, including myself, that statements about baptizing in the name of Jesus were simply an abbreviated reference to the same practice. After all, Jesus encompasses, God, and the Holy Spirit. So whether we receive baptism in the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit - we accomplishing the command from Jesus to believe, repent, and be baptized - in order to be born again, and receive God's Holy Spirit.

I hope this provides you with some clarification.

Have a wonderful day, and God Bless You!

Jesse my understanding is water baptism went back to Moses when God commanded him if a house had a leprosy or a scall a levitical priest wd have to fetch 2 tutle doves and wash them by RUNING water,..And 1 of the Doves had to be a sacrificial Dove...And had to killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird...The Jordan was running water and Jesus was our sacrificial Dove thats y the Dove lit on Jesus marking him as our sacrficial Dove....Turtle Doves are lovers just like Christ and the Church are lovers....husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it...Jesus was our sacrficial Dove....in Song of Solomon the 2 lovers are Christ and the CHURCH but they refers to each other as having Doves Eyes..When they asked John about Christ and his disciples John replied he that has the bride is the bridegoom....John the baptise gave us this water baptism metaphor....We see Christ and the Church in this water baptism scenario....Thats y Jesus had to be water baptised....he had to be washed by this running water....But Jesus had no sin. It was a Jewish ritual that went back to Moses....John was of the tribe of levi thus he cd do this washing..baptism....But it was not for sin.....We are all in the house of Simon the leper...thus we need to be made clean..By his words ...That new covenant.

Acts 2:8 And how we hear every man speak in our own tongue ,wherein we where born.
  • Jesse - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Rick,

I like that, "He is the Captain of our Salvation and the lighthouse of our lives." That is a beautiful way to look at it my brother. And that is an awesome gospel story. Here's something I find amusing about the whole scenario, and sometimes when I'm reading the gospels, I like to put myself in that particular situation. It's like what would I do in that situation? I mean, there's this fierce storm going on. The boat is taking on water. We're about to sink and drown, and Jesus is in the bottom portion of the boat sleeping through the whole thing.

But notice the disciple's reaction in the boat. They're "freaking out." I would too! They wake up Jesus and it's like there's this huge storm, and our boat is about to sink, and you're down here sleeping as if nothing's going on? But if we're in the same boat with Jesus, is that boat going to sink? There's a great message in that story. No matter how big the storm is, if we're in Christ, we'll never sink. He is our lighthouse that guides us through the storms of life.

God bless you all There was a govenour Genral in Canada Spoke 6 diferent languages was an astronaut but as govenour genral was rude and unloving no longer holds the title. 1 Corinthians 13

Though i speak with tongues of men and of angels ,and have not charity,I am become as sounding brass,or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;and though I have all faith,so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity,I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,it proviteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind;charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself,is not puffed up,5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own.is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8Charity never faileth:but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;whether there be tongues, they shall cease;whether there be knowledge,it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that is which is perfect is come.then that which is in part shall be done away.11When I was a child ,I spake as a child,I thought as a child;but when I became a man,I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass darkly;but then face to face:now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13And now abideth faith, hope, charity;but greatest of these is charity.

Hi Bro. Dan ....Dan Jesus was not telling Nic. to be water baptised....Jesus was telling Nic. he had to be born from above which is the New Covenant....As we have borne the image of the EARTHLY we must also bear the image of the Heavenly which is not water baptism but that heavenly covenant the new covenant A heavenly covenant . H.G. BAPTISM....We are not born from above till we birth that heavenly man in our hearts which is H.G. BAPTISM.....Christ in you that new covenant...H.G. baptism....The result of his blood @ calvary...you are twisting the scripture to look like Water baptism is the same as the new covenant which was a blood covenant....not a water covenant...When ya mix the 2 covenants you are in essence saying that the blood was insufficient....we need water baptism to fix it...Who can forbid water etc...Thats what Peter was preaching he was commanding water baptism....in essence saying the Blood of the lamb was insufficient....H.G. BAPTISM WAS A HEAVENLY COVENANT...Being born from above etc But water baptism was an earthly Covenant Washing of the flesh etc We cannot mix them...Thats what Peter was trying to do add water baptism to the new covenant a blood covenant.....

Thats y the lord was so upset with Peter....Being born from above is not about water baptism but about what Jesus did at Calvary...His blood etc..There is a Child involved in this NEW Covenant a heavenly Child which is the H.G. The Child of Promise....We are gonna birth a new innerman via this new covenant..Thats y Jesus refers to it as baptism of Promise...The original Promise was multiplication of Christ via his seed etc....She brought forth aman Child that is gonna rule all nations....This is the New Covenant a birthing covenant impling multiplication via his seed the word...When a seed dies it multiplies..

smite the sheppard and the sheep will be scattered, Then i will turn my hand to the lil ones....see multiplication of his seed etc...God Almighty made this New Covenant...th Promise

Dear Rick Mentzer True, religious forces have long been around in church communities. So we have the liar with us every day unfortunately. Where they do everything else without reading the Word of God, unfortunately they put their own love in ruins. It helps little to sing and play if it does not come from the heart. What the heart is filled with, the mouth speaks. :)

Acts Chapter 21. God bless u and yours in Jesus Name.

Jesse Good stuff brother even the term christian didn't develop until after pentecost in Antioch of Syria

and the believers were walking saying they had Christ in them therefore that wasn't possible in the gospels

Jesus Christ fulfilled His Ministry when he Sat[it was completed] at the right hand of God. My understanding.

You can find many answers to all your questions, if you search this web. But personally, i do not think you can find dream interpreters here. But try Jesus Christ dear ones. With Him you will find all the answers. And you will rejoice and seek more wisdom and understanding. Everything is available for everyone to see, here on this web site. Good luck with your search for Jesus.

Acts 21:8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

God bless u in Jesus Christ.

Have mercy o Lord, please restrain us from sinning against you, because we have no power of our own and the gravity of sin is huge. Help us to turn to you and forsake our sins, the sins of our forefathers, and the sins of our youth. When we turn to you, please help us to forsake our sins from the depth of our hearts. Teach us to abhor evil and cling to what is right according to the commandments in the Bible Your manual of life. When we have been reconciled to You our Maker, then deal decisively with the enemy that draws us away from You in Christ Holy Name l pray, amen.

    Alex,

When you say that John gave us water baptism, who is the "us" you are referring to? I am asking because my understanding is that John's baptism was not Christian baptism. John's baptism was for the Jewish/Hebrew people, not for Gentiles, and not for Christians as there were no Christians at that time. John's baptism was a baptism of repentance for the Jewish people to show that they repented, turned away from Judaism, and were identifying with Jesus as their Messiah.

So the only question I have is who you are referring to as "us." I appreciate your time.
