I worried about losing that bookmark, but I never gave it much thought that I would someday lose my soul in hell throughout eternity without Christ. To this day, I have been in God's word for 22 years. I lost that bookmark, but I gained something more precious than a bookmark hidden away for years in a "safe place." I gained eternal life through Christ Jesus, and that can never be lost!
If God's Spirit is drawing you to Christ, please don't put it off one more day, because there's no guarantee that one more day will come. Call out to Him to have mercy on you and to save you. He is there and He wants you to come to Him. There is no other way!
John3:16 says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
That is how much God loves us. He sent His Son Jesus to die our death. He was without sin, sinless, and yet He came and died on the cross so that we could have salvation. And He did this while we were sinners, yet He had no sin in Him at all.
He paid a debt that we cannot pay. He shed His precious blood on the cross for you, and He shed it for me. There is no greater way to describe love than what He did for us. But until we come to that realization of His love, and what He did for us, until it truly sinks in, we go on about our daily lives heading for that sinkhole.
Jesus died for you and He died for me. We are sinners in debt to a righteous God. We can't pay that debt, so Christ came and paid it for us by shedding his blood as a perfect sacrifice and payment for our sin.
All we have to do is receive Him. He has given us a lifeline and a way to heaven to be with Him forever. He provided a way to get us out of this sin problem. All we have to do is call out to Him to have mercy on us, and by His grace, save us. We must receive Him. Otherwise, each and every day that goes by, whether we realize it or not, we are rejecting Him. And someday, death will come, we will fall into that sinkhole without a Savior, and there will be no turning back. It will be too late then.
So I ask you right now, what is it that holds you back from calling out to Christ for His mercy, and His grace, and for the salvation that He has promised to all who call upon His name? Why not now, for there is no guarantee of tomorrow!
One more part, I promise!
Most all of us would so easily make the choice to take the rope. But why is it so hard to take what God is offering, our salvation from sin, and eternal life with Him in heaven?
If we believe in heaven and we want to go there someday, because the alternative is not so great, why would we not take His offer of salvation? We would take the rope so easy, no brainer, but we hesitate when it comes to the most important thing, our salvation from sin.
You see, the bible tells us in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. We are headed toward this huge sinkhole called death, and we don't know when that day is coming. One day, that sinkhole will collapse below our feet. It could be today, it could be tomorrow, a week from now, or several years away.
In our natural human way of thinking, we always think it's the latter, or several years away. The problem is that we really don't know when it will be. But when the world collapses below your feet, like that big sinkhole we are all headed for, wouldn't you want someone there to grab you and keep you from falling to the point of no return? Even though Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, it also says but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You see, we can't save ourselves. Therefore, we need a Savior. God does not want us to fall into that sinkhole. He wants to save us and keep us from falling. Without Him, we will fall.
Romans 10:13 says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. This is a promise. It doesn't say might be saved, but will be saved. God loves us and does not want us to perish in our sins, therefore He has provided us a way out, a lifeline, a rope because we are drowning in our sinful state.
So now I begin to read my bible because it's "the Christian thing to do." And the more I read, the more I begin to understand how God sees me. And it's not a pretty picture. I come to find out that He doesn't see me the same way I see myself, or the way others see me.
You see, all along I thought I was a good person. People think I'm a good person. But God sees me in a totally different way, and it's not even close to how I see myself. The conviction begins to become stronger and stronger the more I get into His word. And then it comes to the point where I think "I'm doomed" if this is the way God sees me.
All the amount of good things I do, I believe in God, read the bible, believe it to be true, but come to find out it's not good enough. Why? Because I'm still a sinner and there's nothing I can do about it.
In the book of Isaiah, Chapter 64 Verse 6, it says that we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags. That's what God thinks of all my good deeds. I'm really not that good at all. Not in His sight anyways.
Now I'm in this dilemma. What can I do? I know I'm a sinner. I know I can't save myself. I can't even be "good enough" for God. I know there's a heaven and I know there's a hell, but how do I get into heaven when no unclean thing can enter into God's presence.
I have a sin problem that I cannot fix. But God can, and He's provided a way for me.
Picture yourself out in the middle of the ocean. You can't swim. And you fall out of the boat. Can you imagine being in the water helpless knowing you're going to drown? Now, what if someone in the boat threw you a rope? You either take the rope and pull yourself back into the boat, or you say, no, I don't want it. What are you going to do? I know what I'm doing, I'm taking the rope.
I used to believe it was because of the Psalms; David was honest before the LORD.
1 Samuel 16:13,19-22, though anointed, waited for appointed time,
1 Samuel 16:23, made evil spirits depart,
1 Samuel 17:13-15, David went back in obedience to serve family.
1 Samuel 17:17-22, Continued obedience of Parent,
1 Samuel 17:28, Not believed in by family members,
1 Samuel 17:45-47, love & zeal for Israel,
1 Samuel 17:39,48,50, risked his life for Israel,
These are a few I found. Hope these help.
The Church is going to FALL AWAY. Question is, are WE going to fall away?
Look at Satan's Names List. He's Hell bent on defeating Jesus. Thinks he has it in the bag.
Who will stand up like Ezekiel did in chapter 37, and prophesy to the dry bones in our churches?
It just doesn't feel right to me, to let people wander off into apostasy without a comment.
Peoples hearts are hardened if they are told often they are going to hell on a Hell-Fire rocket. Hell's gonna bust wide open.
The Apostasy in the church is this: nobody praying on their face for revival; distancing ourselves from "the lukewarm, etc. I worked in a church. Only 20% tithe. Fights over parking spaces and which pew is theirs.
I have a happy Valentines cassette of a sermon; and then the Pastor starts talking about people who go church to church, looking for the best most perfect one. Then he leans into the microphone and says, STOP SLEEPING AROUND.
I almost passed out, but I saw paled faces everywhere. I was innocent but the force of the Holy Spirit made me slip down too. Some people left that church after that; but a whole lot of people got healed.
The Holy Spirit knows when He is WELCOME to do some ministry in a corporate setting. Some people are scared to death to lift up holy hands and give a wave offering.
One Wednesday night at intercessory prayer (about 50 people), the Holy Spirit showed up. The pastor said "anyone that had ever made a promise and then didn't keep it (on purpose): come forward and be restored, forgiven and healed. Twelve hypocrites stayed seated but the rest of us went up. I was slain in the spirit 20 feet away from Pastor. just sitting on the floor. It was undeniably the Power of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is giddy over being FORGIVEN for false promises and all kinds of stuff. JOY JOY JOY
Don't Quench the Holy Spirit. LET HIM IN.
Mishael

Salvation is a deliverance from the sinful nature that we were born with. We are all born with a sinful nature. We don't become sinners later in life when we commit an act of sin. We were already born with a sin nature, therefore we are sinners.
But what do we do about it? Once we come to the realization that we are sinners, what can we do about it? Can we just continue on in life and try our best not to sin? Can we just believe in God, believe that the bible is true, or go to church every Sunday, or maybe even twice a week, and think that that will be good enough for God?
So now we come to the conclusion that yes, I know I am a sinner, but I'm not that bad of a person. Others see me as a good person, and I do my absolute best to be a good person. But am I good enough? How does God see me?
In my mind, I think He sees that I'm not so bad of a guy. I'm doing my best, I go to church, I believe in God, and most of the time, I treat others well. When I stand before Him someday, he's going to say to me "Great job, come on in!"
But then I begin to dust off the bible I bought many, many, years ago, the one that has been sitting on the shelf, never opened, except the time I opened it up to put a nice "Christian" book marker in it because I didn't want to lose it!
There I was worried about losing that fancy book marker, so I put it in a "safe place." It wasn't going to get lost there unless it just jumped out of the book by itself. I was worried about losing that marker because it was given to me by a close friend, one of those sentimental things.
Peace
Well said.
I am one to think that Christ has redeemed us, not just in our spirit, but our souls, mind, will, emotions, body-all of us entirely. So, we use all of our being in apprehending Jesus, our Truth.
I have always loved the way that the apostle Paul did not just lost a set of truths for us to believe, rather, he explained the What He received from Jesus. He called it " the faith passed down".
So, we know Jesus, the Ultimate Truth. But we are also charged by Paul to know this "faith" which are the tenets taught by the apostles in the churches planted by them.
It was important to the apostles that believers had agreement of doctrine across the churches. They knew that correct doctrine will help to uphold and unite the faith believers had in Jesus and that teaching of false doctrine was spiritually damaging and dangerous.
So, I hear you on determining that Jesus is our Truth, but we are also to be wise about whom He is , what He did, said , and taught as well as how He continues to be Present and at work in the church through the centuries.
As Paul said,
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
So all of these are important, in my opinion.
That is why we discuss so many matters of Christian doctrine on this site. If we did not think it was important to understand these things we would just be saying,
Jesus lived, died, rose from the dead, and those who believe this and trust Him will receive the salvation He offers.
We don't believe in Hum and immediately go to heaven. We remain in this life and it matters how we live and what we believe about doctrines for the good of our souls and the church

Thesecondmoment of potential disunity came from Judaizers (Jewish Christians) who demanded that Gentile Christians become Jews and follow Jewish laws and traditions. The Jerusalem Council (James, Peter, and Paul) met in Acts 15 to settle controversy. This occurred around the year AD 49. The leaders did not require the Gentiles to be circumcised or to follow the law, but they did ask that Gentile disciples to be aware of Jewish sensitivities. Later in our studies we will look at ecumenical councils (like the one that occurred in Nicaea in 325). It's interesting to note that ecumenical councils aren't all bad; they had biblical precedent. It's good to get together and discuss our concerns and our differences.
Thethirdmoment of potential upheaval in the church came from Gnostic false teachers who claimed that the flesh was evil; therefore, Jesus did not come in the flesh. (To be accurate, this was an early form of Gnosticism; full blown Gnosticism did not arrive until the second century). The Gnostics held to a dualistic philosophy that believed the spirit was good and matter was evil. Salvation was to be acquired through ascetic practices where a person denied the flesh, thus giving life to the spirit. Also, the word Gnostic (fromgnosisor knowledge) meant there was a secret knowledge that must be acquired to achieve salvation. The more secret knowledge a personhad, the higher that personwould climb up the Gnostic ladder.
Paul and John battled this false teaching ( 1 Timothy 6:20, 1 John 4:2, 3). During the second century whole churches fell into apostasy through Gnostic teaching.
So we see that life in the early church wasn't easy sledding. Instead, there were various controversies that had the potential to split the church in two (or three or four) sects and factions. Thus you see strong teaching from Paul against false teachers and divisive people.
Much like us there were many Issues to consider.
God bless.
Genesis 1:14 - And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Matthew 16:3

2 Timothy 4:2-4 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Be watchful, looking up. Keep a ear out for 3rd Temple building in Israel; completion.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. You've said some things that truly ministered to me. What stands out the most is "We all can err and make mistakes in interpretation." It takes an honest believer to admit that, and I say amen to that. There's something I said here a long while back. I said it's not what I say that is truth, it's not what you say (Not you personally, but anyone), it's not what anyone of us says that is truth. It's God's word (Logos) alone that is truth.
And yes, we are fallible beings. It doesn't mean were stupid, but we are incapable of knowing the mind of God. I do value the things everyone here has to share. I don't have to agree with it all, but I do value it. We're all to be as the Bereans and search the scriptures daily to see if the things we are being told are true.
But then again, what is truth? Is truth just a bunch of words written in the pages of a book we call the Bible? Many would say "Yes, God's word is the truth" (And it is), but then we turn around in our fallible human minds we think we understand but do we really? I think a lot of it has to do with human pride. I would be the first to raise my hand and say "Guilty."
Once again, what is truth? Here's what truth is to me, but first, here's what truth is not. It's not what I say, period! To me, truth is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the WAY, I am the TRUTH, and I am the LIFE."
So, do you or I or anyone else here have the truth? We do if we have Christ. He is the only truth a believer has. It's not head knowledge and it's not the words written in a book, but Christ Himself. If there were no Bibles, we would still have Christ, and He's all the truth we need!
flag spiritually because all people believing in Gods Word were handled within there scope of understanding
i.E. Moses burning bush attention getter, look at Gideon with the fleece, the shepherds with there flocks
fear not! Also in 2 Timothy God has not given us the spirit of fear but power love and a sound mind so
anything outside of that realm should be of concern. Anything spiritual must be lined up with gods Word
which is the source of all truth in all realms of Life and Godliness.
The story of the church of the New Testament isn't the story of victory after victory. There were major battles that had to be fought to keep the early church united. In particular, there were two early disagreements in the church and one battle against false doctrine that had the potential to divide the church or to send the church on a downward spiral into false doctrine.
First, Acts 6:1-7.In the early church, there quickly arose a disagreement between the Hebraic Jewish Christians and the Grecian Jewish Christians. Both groups were Christian. Also, both groups were Jewish. But one group spoke Hebrew and the other group spoke Greek (thus the distinction between Hebraic Jewish Christians and Grecian Jewish Christians). The disagreement came fromthe Grecian Jewish Christians whose widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food. So, in essence this was an ethic controversy. The Grecian Jewish Christians brought their grievance to the apostles. This threatened the unity of the church, so the apostles acted. The oversaw the selection of specific men of Grecian background (we conjecture that they were Grecian based on their names) to oversee the distribution of food to the Grecian widows. This solution worked well. Unity continued until the battle for unity occurred. That's usually how it works. Peace reigns for a while, then another controversy emerges
Along with 1 Timothy 2:13, we have 1 Corinthians 11:3. That specific order of creation was to be observed both in our daily lives in the world & especially in the daily life of the Church. And for the greater part it was, but for a variety of reasons, that order became distorted then dismantled, so in the name of 'equality & fairness to all', that order & our roles (in family, society & Church) have taken on a different perspective. No doubt, with some husbands not fulfilling their God-given responsibilities of godly leadership and of sacrificial love & care to their wives & children, this too has contributed to the woman's desire to be un-submitting to him & to take over his responsibilities. Sin is very much evident in the breakdown of society & we are being conditioned to accept what is abnormal to be normal in the God-ordained family & also in Church order & responsibility.
Your thoughtful statement: "Perhaps if anyone else could have been around to offer Adam that fruit just maybe he wouldn't have taken it." True, maybe he wouldn't have, or, would the convincing justifiable reasons given to Adam by the offeror of the fruit or whether to choose to obey the Giver of the Command not to eat, still apply? How interestingly our minds work, using all our reasoning powers to fulfil a lust, rather than refusing anything that God has forbidden. The Word that should have been at the forefront of Adam's mind is, "God has spoken & I will obey", and not, 'Adam has determined & God will surely understand'. And isn't that the very same way we manage to justify our sins & failings before God today? That Adam wasn't deceived, cannot justify the fact that he too succumbed to temptation & disobedience; he still had to be removed from God's Presence, as Eve was. And still God still wanted the order of creation to be maintained in the family, society & His Church.
The "low Christology" or "adoptionist Christology" is the belief "that God exalted Jesus to be his Son by raising him from the dead," thereby raising him to "divine status." According to the "evolutionary model "evolutionary theories," the Christological understanding of Christ developed over time, as witnessed in the Gospels, with the earliest Christians believing that Jesus was a human who was exalted, c.q.adoptedas God's Son, when he was resurrected. Later beliefs shifted the exaltation to his baptism, birth, and subsequently to the idea of his eternal existence, as witnessed in the Gospel of John. This evolutionary model was very influential, and the "low Christology" has long been regarded as the oldest Christology.
The other early Christology is "high Christology," which is "the view that Jesus was a pre-existent divine being who became a human, did the Father's will on earth, and then was taken back up into heaven whence he had originally come,"and from where heappeared on earth. According to Hurtado, a proponent of anEarly High Christology, the devotion to Jesus as divine originated in early Jewish Christianity, and not later or under the influence of pagan religions and Gentile converts. The Pauline letters, which are the earliest Christian writings, already show "a well-developed pattern of Christian devotion already conventionalized and apparently uncontroversial.
Some Christians began to worshipJesus "a Lord"
This is the down side to trying to pattern our beliefs with the early Church rather than relying on the present scripture and Holyspirit. They were divided on several issues.

( GRADUAL SPLIT OF EARLY CHRISTIANITY AND JUDAISM, )
Early Christianity developed out of theeschatologicalministry ofJesus. Subsequent to Jesus' death, his earliest followers formed anapocalypticmessianicJewish sectduring the lateSecond Temple periodof the 1st century. Initially believing thatJesus' resurrectionwas the start of the endtime, their beliefs soon changed in the expectedSecond Comingof Jesus and the start ofGod's Kingdomat a later point in time.
Paul the Apostle, a Jew who had persecuted theearly Christians, convertedand started to proselytize among theGentiles. According to Paul, Gentile converts could be allowed exemption from mostJewish commandments, arguing that all arejustified by faithin Jesus. This was part of a ( GRADUAL SPLIT OF EARLY CHRISTIANITY AND JUDAISM, ) as Christianity became a distinct religion including predominantly Gentile adherence.
Here you see a period of transition.
After the death of Jesus, Christianity first emerged as a sect of Judaism as practiced in theRoman province of Judea. The first Christians were allJews, who constituted aSecond TempleJewish sect with anapocalypticeschatology. Among other schools of thought, some Jews regarded Jesus asLordandresurrectedmessiah, and the eternally existingSon of God, expecting thesecond comingof Jesus and the start ofGod's Kingdom. They pressed fellow Jews to prepare for these events and to follow "the way" of the Lord. They believedYahwehto be the only true God,the god of Israel, and considered Jesus to be themessiah(Christ), as prophesied in theJewish scriptures, which they held to be authoritative and sacred. They held faithfully to the Torah, including acceptance ofGentile convertsbased on a version of theNoachide laws.
This is why we use the Holyspirit to guide our practices.
