Hi Joe. In Hebrew, 'soul' is in the feminine gender. Many languages, as you may know, apply it's gender to the object & sometimes don't use the neuter gender.

It sounds strange to us since 'soul' is neuter in English. Another example is 'wisdom', as in Proverbs 1:2, where it too is feminine so you might also see it referred to as 'her/she.'

Joe Psalms 34:2 Depending on the context the word for her is translated [its, soul , breath,or desire]so in this verse

the word desire fits perfect. There are many things in scripture like this.

    S. Spencer I appreciate your viewpoint this site is to discuss scripture, not unprofitable world events that

have no profit. Either focus on the things of Gods Word or the World no man can focus on both, at least that's

what the master says. It's going to wax worse and worse it is written, so its up to the individual what they

mentally entertain or focus on. As for me I'll turn my eyes upon Jesus and look full in His wonderful face then

the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace. Peace on Earth Goodwill toward men!

    Hi Adam.

I agree with everything you have said on this thread, Racism has always been around and always will be.

So has every other evil until the prince of peace comes. But that is the world that we are called out of!!

It's he that is behind the scene and our wicked flesh where the problem lies.

    ( Ephesians 6:12.)

We are to be a light and a workman to lead people out of darkness.

    ( 2 Corinthians 4:6.)

I've seen this darkness up close and experienced it in several Churches.

Do you expect the world to act any other way? There has to be a new birth and baptism of the Holyspirit,

    A new nature given,

    A New heart of flesh,

THERE HAS TO BE THE DEATH OF THE OLD MAN WHO'S MARRIED TO THE WORLD.

IF WE TRUST IN CHRIST WE WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH, THAT'S THE OLD MAN. ONE WHO FAILED TO COME TO THE LORD PRESENTING THE WORKS OF THE FLESH. TWICE DEAD,

    But as for us.

    Ephesians 2:1-6. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

    God bless.

Glenn The original language of the scriptures is Greek hebrew and aramaic, Jesus Christ him self spoke a

Northern aramaic dialogue, also when you add in the eastern culture customs and figures of Speech which

God used with perfect accuracy, then this scripture Hits Home plate Psalm 138:2 Thou speaking of God has

magnified thy word above all His name, so His greatest work is the perfection of His Word. That is Loaded

we cannot comprehend perfect so we do our best to believe and walk by Gods grace in it.

I do hope that you are not under the impression that because people are not challenging you or Adam on this subject , that our silence of indicates our agreement with your views . I sincerely hope that it doesn't , it definately doesn't in my case . I thought that this was a Bible forum not a political one . I am not going to report your or Adams comments on this subject as I don't want them to be removed . I find them very revealing , as I'm sure everyone who reads them does .

Square Himself The first resurrection will be the gathering together of us made the righteousness of God

in Christ Jesus I.E. sons and daughters of God Cleansed by the blood of Our brother. The next resurrection will

be in Revelation of the just under the law judged by works and the then the adversary and the unbelievers throughout

History get the eternal Hot Foot or Lake of Fire. That's what I read eventually all that ever lived will stand in front

of God either to be rewarded of condemned in the telos or the very end.

Thank you for all that extra information Adam. Much could be discussed on this matter & others (past & present) but I feel that to discuss such issues, however concerning they might be, will depart from the focus & intents of this KJBO Site. So will just have to leave it & each one reading news articles, will have to decide the matter in their own hearts.

Why would you dig up a week old thread and elaborate on such a Racially publicized case that we already gave unnecessary time to?

How are you doing? Did you come to believe what Believe In Jesus posted? if so, you have received salvation and become a believer in Jesus Christ who is our Savior and Lord. If not, please heed the urgings of the Holy Spirit and respond with the faith He is planting within you by God's powerful grace in enabling you to believe. Those of us on this site are always so happy to hear back from people who post a desire to be a believer in Jesus, like you. So I hope that you will post again and give us an update. Hi Donna,

I came to this site a month or so ago to begin in Genesis. I completed it a week or so ago. I am going to begin Exodus beginning January 1st. So, we will be pretty current to one another in our study. That may be helpful to us! If you wish we can kind of keep in touch with each other as you go through Genesis. If you wish to go on to Exodus, then we can keep in touch for that, too.

I found it helpful to read the passage and to read the commentary and then to read all comments before I added a post.
  • Chris - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank you for those additional comments. We could spend much time discussing the points you raised, to no avail, as we understand the Scriptures on this doctrine in a different way.

The point that is of the essence here is: if there is no eternal condemnation & suffering for Christ-rejecting sinners, then what is the judgement for that rejection? You suggest that the grave now & then after the resurrection & judgement, death again (& annihilation) is the punishment.

You also state that atheists will remain more so because of the teaching of this eternal suffering doctrine. This could be true, but I also see that atheists will remain in their condition because there is no further accountability upon them for their rejection of God.

So the question: if both the child of God & the unrighteous have to face death & the grave, where is the punishment of sinners that we read of in the Word? That the unrighteous are resurrected one day & then annihilated again doesn't seem to be any different judgement than what we all will face in death. And then the matter about the part of us which is indestructible (the soul & spirit); what happens here?

No adequate answer can be given to such questions unless we understand God's Judgement on sinners is far more than just an annihilation but an eternal suffering while those made righteous through Christ enjoy eternal life with Him. We may not always preach a hell-fire Gospel, but that has always been the impetus that drove the apostles to preach & to lay down their lives for the Gospel. If only death was the terminus for the sinner, there would be no compelling need to preach the Gospel - just a "come to Jesus, believe, get saved & have eternal life" Gospel. We have to get saved so that God's Judgement for our sin doesn't fall upon us. At least that's why I was saved: by fleeing the judgement in an eternal hell & running into the Arms of a Loving & Merciful Saviour.

Yep you are right, the schools are becoming more and more anti-christian but accepting of pagan celebrations like solstice or practices like "mindulness", meditation, yoga, Ramadon, etc. I just retired from teaching in public schools and it has gotten so much worse these past 5-10 years. I honestly think that those in power are afraid of christianity and especially Jesus because they know it is true ad they stand condemned before Him for their unbelief, all under te guise of not wanting to "offend people of other faiths or no faith.

Parents be warned, the public school system is now positioned to strip your child of their faith and Christian upbrining.

Adam, I am praying for the police officer. What a tragic mistake she made, despite her training. It is so obvious how terribly upset she was when she realized her mistake. may God grant her mercy in this situation and bring about a just and compassionate resolution for her. She never intended to hurt Dante. And she should be forgiven by his family and community. It is truly sad that racism is so injected into these situations. It has always been wrong to racially mistreat people and it still is. However, I fear that those who are presently dominating the racism today feel justified since they are turning the racism back on white people and the police, and the government and media are supporting this. So sad and harmful to our nation and individuals. God please help us end this now.
