Hi Donna, I noticed your post and sounds like you're looking for others' input. I'm happy to share my perspective based on what you shared.

First, it sounds like you really love your family and have a caring heart. You care enough to post and ask for help because you so badly want to help them, but you know from past experience it simply hasn't worked out well. That's very unfortunate, but you haven't done anything wrong. You tried and it didn't work. It sounds like they took advantage or didin't respect you, your authority or rules, nor your house.

It's my opinion that people who misbehave either as a child or later as an adult often do so, because they didn't have good role models in their life. I think kids and later as adults might look for weakness and to take advantage of others, when what they need the most (although they don't realize it) is some tough love with rules, boundaries, and consequences. Just as a loving parent shouldn't let their kids rule the house, eat unlimited candy, live in filth, etc. They love them enough to discipline them and teach them things even if it means saying NO and seeing them cry temporarily.

I think the same is true for adults. And those who are caught in this dillemna of wanting to show love but not liking what they do, keep hoping they'll change, but they never do, and it always results in disappointment. I personally think its wrong to enable them and that saying NO might be the best thing for them at times. They must change their behavior and follow very clear and specifc rules in order to be on your turf, otherwise, its their own choice and fault if they don't do that. You can still be loving and show love in other ways while also not letting someone take advantage of you. I would never let someone do drugs in or around my property- that doesn't honor God. My house will not be a den of satan for people to engage in sin, but should be a sacred place shielded from it.

My comment is very dangerous: I don't think testosterone and estrogen are going to be a factor in Heaven.

Also, angels report to God. We don't command them just yet. If you need angelic help, ask God.

Actually Glenn, the book of Acts and the epistles says that the believers celebrated the Lord's Supper almost whenever they met for worship services. So, it is was more than a ritual to those first century believers and is more than a ritual to many who receive communion weekly or frequently. If you do not participate in a fellowship that has communion weekly or bi-weekly or monthly, then you are really not in a position to judge the intentions of the hearts of those who do.

If it is not your style of participating in the Lord's Supper often, you are free to do so. There is no real command on how often one is to partake of it. It is commanded that in be a celebration where the death and resurrection of Jesus is recalled and appreciated, treated as a holy rite preceded with an examination of conscience to confess known sins.

In the new testament times, it was actually accompanied by a meal. Whether the meal preceded sharing of the Lord's Supper or if it was shared within the meal, or after.

It seems the meal was simple, not a feast, as Paul says that one should not come to the table ravenous and eat too much, leaving little or none for others.

That is a good questions about funerals. If you are familiar with Scriptures, funerals were the norm throughout the Bible and history. A funeral gives a sense of closure and a last goodbye to the lost loved one. For a believer, it is an opportunity to have your last wishes be that the good news of Jesus be preached at your funeral and that God is praised for what he has done in one''s life. I have been thinking about planning my own funeral service and putting it with my will. Thanks for the reminder!

On your other question, concerning apostles, some today believe that the office of apostle is active in today's times. But as a whole, many Christians believe that the office of an apostle ended in the first century, as an apostle needed to be an eye-witness of Jesus, and thus a contemporary and thus one who lived in Judea and knew Jesus, bring a disciple.

Myself, I believe that mainstream view that the office of apostles ceased when the original apostles died in the first century after Jesus' death. So, I do not listen to people who claim to be an apostle in our times.

Derek, Totally agree with you concerning TBN and DAYSTAR, and other such TV programming. Most of them teach, promote false teachings, but also welcome eagerly anyone to be on their show wo will serve up the newest and current trend in false teaching. I did watch them for a time over 20 years ago, but after giving it a good go, I decided I was done with their false teaching (and it was getting worse with time). haven't watched for a few decades. I have seen Les Feldick on a local channel at times.

I think it is best if someone engages in an in person Christian fellowship unless they are home bound for some reason. praying before visiting a church will allow one to know the lead of the Holy Spirit as to which fellowship is best for the person.

As Grace said, there are some good sites online to receive teaching and bible study. I just caution that there are many sites that are filled with false teachings, some blatant and obvious, and others more subtle. So perhaps, others reading here could recommend some solid sites. In answer to your concern, we have the forgiveness of sins because of Jesus' death and resurrection. When a disciple of Jesus asked Him how many times to forgive a brother, 7 times? Jesus said, 70 times 70. In saying this it indicates that we are to keep on forgiving just as He keeps on forgiving us, even if we are trapped in a repetitive sinful habit. Confessing whenever you fall into this sin, you can be assured that God forgives every time. Also, please know that you can ask the Holy Spirit who lives in you to help you overcome this habit. He is powerful over entrenched sin; we are not. So we need to depend on the Holy Spirit to deliver and release one from the old this particular sin has on a person. Praying wit someone in agreement is recommended by Scripture.

Wilburt, Angels are purely spiritual beings without earthly bodies and are not human in any way. However, Scripture records visitations from angels to earth to certain people such as Abraham and Mary. In these encounters, the angels assumed an earthly bodily form. They even ate and drank with Abraham.

I really don't care about what others think. I want every Holy book written, the holy Spirit guides me, and I know truth from lies. Chanukah, the festival of lights, is all about the Maccabees and how God allowed the oil to that was only for one day, to last for 8. Yohua/Jesus celebrated it, so as to why it wasn't part of the Bible, maybe so only those who truely love him will seek out all his words, to live by them.

Hi Brad, Classically thinking, repent is a turning away from one's rebellion to and unbelief in God towards seeking God for forgiveness of unbelief, rebellion, and all sin. So one who has repented in the biblical sense is one who has heard the gospel of Jesus and believed it as the answer for salvation of one's soul and trusting Jesus for all of this. As David said, If you confess with your mouth and believe in you heart that Jesus is LORD, you shall be saved. After one repents, confesses, and believes the gospel and in Jesus, the new believer will claim that Jesus is truly God who is the Savior and LORD (God and Sovereign over the person) to the person individually and personally in a new redeemed relationship with God, who is the Creator of All.

Among orthodox teachings based on Scripture, there are two views on hell for humans. One is that one who rejects God. and specifically Jesus and His salvation, will be tormented in hell forever. The other view is that a rejector of God and Jesus and His salvation will be tormented in hell for a time and then be annihilated (perish, die forever, the second death.)

Some put forth the view that no one will be sent to hell because God will save everyone whether they believe or not. This is the doctrine of universal salvation and it has been refuted repeatedly over the centuries and is rejected as heresy in the main of church teaching since the beginning of the church through the centuries into present day.

And rick is right, the more important question is ow to avoid ending up there, and that question is answered by hearing (or reading) the gospel of salvation in and through Jesus because of His death, resurrection and ascension and believing it to be true and applicable to the hearer/reader. God works in those who hear/read the gospel to believe by offering grace to produce faith to believe. Accepting this gift of grace and faith will lead to believing the gospel and a trusting in Jesus as a Savior. This is where a conversion takes place and the Holy Spirit does this work of conversion in the believer, regenerating the spirit of the person and dwelling in the newly regenerated person forever.

So it is good for someone to desire to know what the gospel of Jesus is and how salvation is received. it is a matter of life with God and all His love and goodness forever or hell without God forever.

I'd like to add to what Chris stated. I am not Catholic nor Roman Catholic, however I took communion with my aunt & former boss (a high ranking political figure). After several times in attending & participating in two different states, whenever I had to accompany my former boss on Sundays, or visiting my Aunt Holidays or Sundays, maybe multiple years. All of a sudden, I was no longer allowed to participate, in either state because I "wasn't Catholic" that seems very wrong on multiple levels. Here's additional scripture:

1st: we're told to exam ourselves, before Communion, not other's to allow or disallow. 1 Corinthians 11:28-31, Roman 14:1-4,

2nd: we are told to confess our sins to one another: James 5:16-17,

3rd: John 6:37,

4th: Matthew 23:9-10,

5th: 1 Timothy 4:1-6, "doctrines of devils" forbidding marriage?

However the Catholic church is well-known for hospitals, ministry to needy 1 John 1:25-27, Matthew 25:31-46,

& we're called to love one another: John 13:35,

The promise of salvation through the gospel of Jesus was given to all mankind in the garden of Eden ( Genesis 3:15) when God told the serpent (evil one) that about the promised Seed (Jesus) from the woman. Although he (evil one) will strike the heel of the promised Seed (Jesus), the Seed (Jesus) will crush his (evil one) head (which is defeating the dominion and authority of the evil one -the head) The promised Seed (Jesus) will have victory over Satan and all of is evil works.c

The promise was given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that all nations will be blessed through the Seed (Jesus) that comes from the lineage of Abraham.

Therefore, at the appointed time, the eternal Son of God was conceived in Mary's virgin womb by the power of the Holy Spirit and born in human flesh while still retaining his deity, also. So the plan was for the Messiah (Jesus) to come through the Israelites, and the order was that He would go first to His people, the Jews, to preach the news of the kingdom of God, and they, as a whole rejected them. After Jesus ascended, He appeared to Saul on the way to Damascus and converted him outright and commissioned Saul/Paul to take the gospel of the God's kingdom arrival in the person of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to mankind. The Godhead intended for the gospel to be offer salvation to all in humanity who believe by faith from before the creation of the universe. So, although Jesus preached primarily to the Jews in his day before He ascended to heaven, He also ensured that the gospel be preached in all the world until He returns by the power and call of the Holy Spirit on believers to preach of Him.

Tony, I'm sorry that you lost your loved ones and are on drugs. I'm really glad that you quit for a week. I know the Lord is tugging at your heart cuz you picked up your Bible and cried. I went through the same thing at Different times in my life. And God brought me out and delivered me. But I never gave up on him. And he never gave up on me just like he said in his word. He'll never leave us or for sake us. He should've left me along time ago but he didn't and I love him for it. I have a friend named Tony that I'm praying for. Don't give up on God. Hi, from what I know, the Catholic Church recommends confession to a priest often, but it is not necessary to have been to confession before accepting communion unless you have committed what the church said is a "mortal" sin, such as murder, adultery, apostasy. But the Scripture says that we have one mediator between God and Man, Jesus Christ. So, by this verse, one does not need to go to a priest to confess their sins to be forgiven. A person can go straight to the God through the name of and faith in in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and redemption. If someone is caught in a sinful habit or has done a grave sin such as murder, adultery, etc., it is fine and recommended that a person seek the counsel of a church leader such as a priest, pastor, elder, or mature Christian for strengthening and support.
