I have thought about this, too. Is it a custom of the times, like earing a head scarf? Or is it a command for all time. I have heard many different opinions on this. For me, I choose to support this principle that women are to refrain from being in leadership over men. I also, know that there may be exceptional situations where a woman may mentor a man (such those women who mentored Apollos, since they had more complete knowledge of the gospel than he did).

For me, I like to consider the passage where woman are to be taught by their husbands. I have read that in those times, women and men were separated in the congregation, so if a woman had a question or comment it would have been out of order for her to speak up over the men. She would wait until she was home with her husband to discuss a matter further. I do support this principle, however it does put a responsibility upon the husband to be well instructed and a spiritual leader in the home. Can we honestly say that this is the case in most Christian homes today? No, unfortunately. And what about single women? In Paul's time women stayed with their family until married, so the Father was the head over her. But today, many adult women are out of their parent's household and on their own. Who is their head in this situation?

I am not one to buck up against Scripture much and I am happy to be lead and taught by men. I am also happy to be lead and taught by a woman as in a women's bible study. I have taught Sunday School for children and youth, but not adults. I have no inclination to teach men in a mixed gender group. I want to follow this Scripture even if it was just a custom for that time. The integrity of my witness is more important than seeking a position above men. But, like the women who mentored Apollo, I would be open to mentoring either sex if led to. But as a married woman I would most likely not mentor a man. I did mentor my husband in the faith before we were married. Feel free to chime in.

I'd like prayer for my student loan debt, and my boss who has multiple active federal and state tax debt cases. He has been managing the business irresponsibly and I'm really worried about it all and am asking for God to intercede.

Dusty Here's a simple way to view it, next to great men of God there are great women to be a help meet

I.E. to help pray teach instruct and preach within the structure that God set up. There are instances in he

old testament where women so to speak took a stand. In the church of God in Timothy the order is men ordained are

encouraged to lead as pastors and bishops the statement with women in subjection strictly depends on the

men walking according to Ephesians 5:25-29. So keep this in mind the conditions are always it is written.

In the old testament there were women prophets and great women of believing like the shunammites

women who's child was raised from the dead. There are other examples.

Alex, again some of what you state here is correct, but some of it is not. I do not believe that Jesus is the Father of the Holy Spirit. The only Son eternally begotten of God is Jesus. The Word never calls the Holy Spirit the Son of the Son of God nor the grandson of the Father.

When you talk about "what is born of the Spirit is spirit, it is not talking about the Spirit birthing Himself. It is speaking of the new spiritual nature we receive at conversion from God. It is in this new nature that the Spirit dwells in us. This new nature is not divine nor the Person of the Holy Spirit. It is as you said, "the temple of the Holy Spirit" The divine Person of the Holy Spirit cannot dwell within a sinful nature, but can dwell in our new holy spiritual nature.

There is a difference between what I am saying and what you continue to speak about. Your view exalts and deifies believers; my view exalts God and acknowledge that through Christ we have a new holy nature in which God can dwell.

Mara, I read the whole passage of Jeremiah 7: It is God speaking through Jeremiah about the unfaithfulness and false affections of Judah towards God. The Jews broke God's commandments without concern and came into the house of worship thinking that they could stand before God and receive approval and blessing from Him, as if He did not see their problematic sinful actions.

I don't think that this is necessarily saying we are not to pray or make intercession for nations, governments, or people in this age. I think, because we have the indwelling Holy Spirit, we will be led by Him to pray and intercede. We, believers, have the commands of Paul to pray often for everything in our pervue.

Star, I am glad things are getting done for you by the Lord's doing! Yes, aloe vera gel is soothing and healing. It should help. The real concern is how deep the burns have gone into the skin layers and the risk of infection. If you have triple antibiotic cream or a prescriptio9n like bactroban, that can be applied a few times a day. Can she call an on--call nurse to see what she would advise? Maybe she could even arrange a video chat with a doctor who can view the burn and advise or prescribe the best medicine. Does she have medical insurance she can access to see or video chat with a doctor? I hope the burns are not a large area. I will continue to pray for her. Keep me posted. Wasn't 1st Tim. 2:12 more of a cultural issue. We see in acts women Paul talking about teaching and great workers in Christ.

Also, isn't "preaching" different from teaching? They aren't in rule over men but if truly called by God, doing what she is called to do.

Sorry, lol, this leads to this. If, the verse is to be held above cultural values, how do we justify women in Sunday school teachers?

i ended up going to christian fellowship at school group and an anglican church, then working at a christian bookshop, and attending a christian camp where i met my first husband who said he was a christian.

Unfortunately this was shown to be untrue and as my father was virtually an alcoholic abusive to my mother

I didnt have any good male role models.I ended up in a domestic abuse situation much worse than my mothers and i cried out to the Lord for years who delivered me in a way i didnt ask for but it was the only way.I was diagnosed with a rare slow growing but often very deadly catilage tumour in my sacroliac joint.

Three months aftersurgery (13 hours in 1999) where the "margins "were not cleared by my top neuro surgeon i had an audible voice in the dark. It referred to the paralytic in the bible and his forgiven sins leading to healing.

V unexpected and no sign at all that of any cancer from then on...so smazing healing !!Hallelujah!!!!

Gigi, HALLELUJAH! Thank you for your wonderful prayer. The CREATOR is so very good! We we're able to rent an apartment until the house is fixed. We received a blessing in the firm if a landlord. My daughter chose Not to go see a Dr. However, thus morning she called me. She had googled about how to treat burns ( i still know she needs to see a doctor.) Through her search she did find out what she was doing wrong and what she should use. I had the exact amount of money that I was able to get the products, plus I was able to buy her an aloe vera plant that they said was the best thing for them. So yes, we received quit a few blessings through this difficult time. Again, I'd like to thank you so much for your prayers. May you be blessed to the fullest! Thank you

Upon being born again, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to us. Teach us scripture, comfort us, convict us of sin, enable us to be witnesses. Stay in the New Testament at first. Learn fully who the Son of Man is (Jesus).

This might explain why in Matthew 4 Christ was not tempted any day earlier than the 40 days and 40 nights because God is in control of all things. If Christ had been tempted earlier it would not clearly point to The Day of Atonement as a likely Day for the Return of Jesus Christ with Him defeating all of the evil of this world by obeying God's Words.

Joel 2 describes the blowing of Trumpets on the Day that Christ returns on His Second Coming.

Another ancient tradition is that Moses fasted for 40 days and 40 nights ( Exodus 34:28) before receiving God's Commandments at Mount Sinai. The tradition states Moses received the Commandments on the Day of Atonement. The blowing of trumpets in Exodus 19 and 20 is associated with at Mount Sinai at that time.

So Christ was fasting during the same period as Moses, and Christ also stood with the Statutes, Laws, and Commandments of God on The Day of Atonement.

Here are some possible ways the 7 Feasts might point to the Life of Christ:

The 7 Feasts of the Lord Point to The Life of Jesus Christ

Before answering your question, some background information is needed about the 7 Feasts of the Lord, and the Season of Repentance.

There are the 7 Feasts of the Lord in the Bible. Most Christians do not observe them. The 7 Feasts of the Lord are listed below. A study of these Feasts reveals that they point to the Life and The Return of Jesus Christ. Please research this very interesting topic.

The 7 Feasts are one of the many ways that Christ is in the Old Testament.

Some say that ancient Jews observed a traditional 40 day period called Season of Repentance. Christ would have known about this tradition just as He knew about the tradition of Feast of Dedication ( John 10:22-23).

This Season of Repentance begins on the first day of the 6th Month, and ends on The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur in Hebrew) which is (the 10th day of the 7th month), a total of 40 days. Some modern congregations appropriately blow the shofar, a type of trumpet made from the horn of a specific animal, from this first day until the 40th day, The Day of Atonement.

Leviticus 16:8-34 describes the Day of Atonement as a day of fasting and self-denial. These verses describe that on The Day of Atonement the ancient High Priest made a sacrifice for the people of Israel and then a scapegoat was sent into the wilderness.

So the 40 day Season of Repentance might have been the time when Jesus was in the wilderness. Jesus was tempted on the 40th Day (Day of Atonement). On The Day of Atonement, Christ defeated the evil attempts against Him. Christ did this by steadfastly obeying the Word of God.

I think if you go on YouTube and watch a video of a preacher I once met. You'll understand better. You can't win this fight alone. You need all of heaven on your side. That means quieting yourself and give the fight to your Father in Heaven. Your anger attracts evil spirits. We have to cling to the Lord in these times.

Don't give your power to the evil spirits who feed on anger. Satan's names are CHAOS AND DESTRUCTION; murder, envy, memories.

God knows the Day of a persons death. It's scripture. No matter how much we want them to hang on, their time here is over. I'm not lying when I say that when my Dad was dying I would not let him go. He was drowning on food in his lungs. He had Alzheimer's. A spirit came into the room and said: LEAVE NOW! I'm taking him now! I left for 5 mins and when I returned, Dad was gone, but his face was relaxed and glowing; like joy. I knew he was in heaven now, but I still missed him sorely !

Her terror was greater than your love to keep her. Realize she is with her Lord.

Your children still need a quieted mother, because they probably feel they will lose you. Open your bleeding heart and let Jesus love you to wellness.

We will see them again. Right after you see the Lord, you'll see your loved one waiting to see you.

Alex I agree tat we are reborn by the Word of God (the good seed) and the Holy Spirit (with His power to regenerate). But I disagree strongly your notion that the Holy spirit is born in us. Again, I say, He is not replicated, Jesus is not replicated, and the Father is not replicated. The Scriptures are clear that God has stated that there is not other god but Himself and there will be no other god at any later date. Your statements about us becoming gods is blasphemous. I do not wish to speak further on this subject because you have repeatedly posted about this and others beside myself have strongly posted that they disagree and why, like I have. I think enough has been said. Neither I will be convinced by you, nor you, by what I say. So to go further is just running around the same circle and unfruitful.
