Hello again Rick, I agree that faith involves more as it grows from the seed planted in us by the Spirit. For us who are adults, we understand this better than those who are young.

This young child of 6 believes in Jesus in the best way he can right now. God will grow is faith in time. Young children believe in such a simple way. It is like Grace described: because you do grandma. This is like saying, "You said it is true and so I believe it is true. Is this not coming to Jesus in child like faith, believing it outright without questioning? This fait is good for children. As adults we have been "fed" so many other ideas we need to "weed out" untruth from our thinking.

But, as I said, I agree, with maturity comes more responsibility towards God in matters of faith. We will at times rest in the faith we have at the time, may need to contend wit outside influence that attack our faith, we will feed our faith with the Word, and we will put what the Word instructs us to do into practice. We know that the Holy Spirit is the power, sancitfier, and teacher dwelling within us to enable us to walk how God calls us to walk. He is the preserver of our faith through all of life's trials. He speaks a good and holy Word to us when we doubt. He always testifies to Jesus, so we can trust what He says. We are so blessed to have the Holy Spirit living in us! We would be lost without His work in us!

    Mishael,

I commend you for training you son well. We, too, took our call of parenting very seriously, and I stayed home for 17 years to "mom" my family before I entered my teaching career.

These times are so different than when we were raised. The social and peer pressures that kids (and parents) face are so amplified for the generation we raised our kids and the ones that came after. We worked hard at being as pro-active as we knew how in parenting. We also were cautious about what influences we allowed to bear on our kids.

Once they got into high school things really changed for my sons. They had more freedom and were exposed to much more than we could control. We prayed for them during this time and since, but even so, they turned away from the Lord. This has been so grievous for us. But we look forward to the day they each come home to Jesus.

We want our sons to make their way in life. Sometimes, things happen where they do need a helping hand, and we do what we can. They are pretty responsible in their lives. The economy does make it harder for young people to get established than in the past. Rent is one area that is so inflated that many children really cannot afford what is charged for a place and still meet all of their other obligations. That is where we can help them by having them live at home for a while so they can save up some for a better start when they move out. We have ad them pay for everything else, but rent and utilities when they live here. But time may soon be up for them to continue to do this. My husband has another 18 months before he retires and I am now retired. We want to downsize our home to one that will work better for the years ahead since I have chronic and progressive back problems that may make it hard for me to ambulate stairs or a large home. We pray for God to find us the right lot in the right place for us to build. When this happens and we move into our little home, the guys will have to be on their own.

How can I better handle adversaries? My next door neibors have gone from bad to worse. They moved next door a year ago. They have about five cameras around their house, and some behaviors make us suspicious of nefarious activities perpetuated by the camera's uses. Though my daughter or I engage with them, due to their nature, they pursue our attention. We have several times in the last month redirected erroneously delivered packages to them. We saw from a photo left by a delivery person a package of ours, which they had kept. When I thought we were at a peaceful time with them, I was going to pick up a tin of cookies and a Christmas card to just extend an unconditional greeting of holiday cheer, when I noticed in their window a poster board sign for the delivery persons to make sure they do not erroneously deliver to our address (they stated the address) because "[they] will never get the packages back." This is quite disturbing in that it is the antithesis of what we have been doing, and what we would ever do, and it throws us into a different light with the delivery people, with whom my daughter has had delivery from for five year .

They lead a different lifestyle than my daughter and I. I am consumed with my water community, serving on a board of

    organization for waterproofing our youth,

and am consumed with data analytics and consulting work. My daughter is very busy with her own career where neither of us spend any time thinking about what others do, much less, trying to make other people's lives difficult. We need prayer for peace and contentment in our own lives as we continue to share it with like-minded friends and family, and community members. We're about sharing value and edifying others and need to remove ourselves from the neibors' devices.

    Francis,

You can google both: "When was Jesus born?" and "Why do we celebrate Christ's birth on Dec. 25th?" I found a lot of helpful information about these questions.

During the Roman Empire, pagan religions abounded along with Christians and Jews. There were numerous pagan celebrations throughout the year. Many of these celebrations were an amalgamation of the various pagan idol stories going all the way back to Nimrod's day in Sumer shortly after the flood.

December 17-25th was celebrated as Saturnalia by many in the empire. It was coincided with winter solstice celebrations and the birth of such pagan gods as Tammuz and other son gods. the solstice was celebrated to "encourage" the rebirth of the sun, since these are the shortest days of the year.

In the time of Constantine, (300's A.D.) Christianity was welcomed in as an approved and preferred religion of the empire. In order to assist pagans into converting to Christianity, Constantine established the celebration of Christ's birth as December 2th to counter these pagan celebrations and Easter, to counter the spring equinox celebrations to Eostre, the queen of heaven and goddess of fertility.

I don't think we really know the sincerity of Constantine's heart to Christ or to convert pagans to Christianity. It may have been decided in order to maintain peace in the empire. It may have been that he was sincerely committed to his faith. He oversaw the Council of Nicea, where bishops from across the known church area met to address doctrinal issues, many of which were determined to be heretical by the council, and others re-affirmed.

This century was a big turning point for the church. Christianity was now beginning to be influenced by the government. It was a century or so later when the Christian faith was declared the faith of the empire and there was a merging of the church and state which we know as the Holy Roman Empire and Roman Catholic Church.

    I hope this helps.

    What a joy you are!

Hebrews 1, is the Faith Chapter. For without Faith it's impossible to please God. Training hopes, beliefs and raw courage__can't produce faith.

This is John Wesleys Commentary on Hebrews chapter one.

1-3 Faith always has been the mark of God's servants, from the beginning of the world. Where the principle is planted by the regenerating Spirit of God, it will cause the truth to be received, concerning justification by the sufferings and merits of Christ. And the same things that are the object of our HOPE. are the object of our FAITH.

It is a firm persuasion and expectation, that God will perform all he has promised to us in Christ. This persuasion gives the soul to enjoy those things now; it gives them a subsistence or reality in the soul, by the first-fruits and foretastes of them.

Faith proves to the mind, the reality of things that cannot be seen by the bodily eye. It is a full approval of all God has revealed, as holy, just, and good. This view of faith is explained by many examples of persons in former times, who obtained a good report, or an honourable character in the word of God. Faith was the principle of their holy obedience, remarkable services, and patient sufferings.

The Bible gives the most true and exact account of the origin of all things, and we are to believe it, and not to wrest the Scripture account of the creation, because it does not suit with the differing fancies of men. All that we see of the works of creation, were brought into being by the command of God.

    Amen Brother Rick!!

    That's what James is saying.

And that will manifest itself and produces good works ( by the Spirit) And true believing faith will bare fruit. The Lord came to create a new Heart and that's inward and ( Will ) reflect outward. That's the Lords doing.

    God bless.

Wisdom in searching for your Life Mate

    Taking Care of Your Virgin

Proverbs is a Book of wisdom in many areas of life, for both sexes. Proverbs 31 describes a godly woman. The Book of Ruth and the Book of Esther, again, women we can learn from.

Genesis 24 is a great book for those in search for a mate.

I Corinthians chapters 5 through 7: sometimes called the marriage chapters by some. It covers sexual impurity also.

I asked my son in his teens, do you want to marry a virgin, or a girl who was "experienced"?

He didn't ponder long, he said a virgin!!

I'll tell the story a female teacher said once at church. It was about why God covered the woman inside, with a hymen. It was a proof of virginity, but it also serves a purpose: It protects against diseases. You're not going to get STD's if you're saving yourself for marriage.

Our culture teaches the exact opposite. They try to force kids to choose gay, straight or in between; in grade school! You can choose Jesus's Way. That takes a lot of courage and inner strength.

The man searching for a good marriage candidate is going to honor her choice to wait, and will protect his virgin. She will love him more for doing that.

That was my take on the story in Genesis 24. If only the Church would teach that. You read it and tell me what you think about it. I'm kinda old . I know they don't do that these days; but it establishes trust

The ladies should know basic home keeping and cooking and budgeting; for sheer bliss.

    To GiGi

I'm weird I guess. I taught my 12 yr old son "life skills 101" until he was 16. He learned full knowledge on how to run a household, cook real meals, yard work, maintenance on a car, more.

How to shop for a household, stretch your grocery money. How to never have to wear green underwear (laundry); sew on a button. He balanced my checkbook for me, to learn budgeting, paid the bills and saw what was leftover :(

I let him work for roofing companies. Cleaning restaurants, grandpa's gas station. I told him it was to teach him the value of an education because low paying jobs are hard, sweaty and exhausting.

When he turned 21, he purchased his first house (a new one). He's 42 now; has 13+ houses he rents out and maintains. Works full time at a 9/5 job, has a family. He's amazing! He's teaching his son the same things.

You have to make a personal commitment to give a kid the best start in life. Schools and even Churches don't teach that. Parents have to do it.

He got some traffic tickets at 16. He knew I couldn't pay for them. I took him to the County Clerks office so he could pay them out. He learned to obey traffic laws, young.

I love being a parent. If we'd just obey God and not skip over the hard parts that are time consuming; we won't have to launch the kid. They'll launch themselves!

Let them work some summer jobs. Swimming pools don't teach them anything. Driving a car is big time maintenance and expense; they must learn. CUT OFF the fun money and they'll want to get a job. If they demand cool clothes and shoes; let them get part-time jobs.

You have to cease to be their source. They have to see their source is THEMSELVES.

My kid got to keep all his money and budget it. He was broke some months. He got the hang of it pretty quick. He got better paying jobs as he could.

I told him that no one can take your home or car, as long as you have a job to secure your freedom.

HE ALWAYS HAD A JOB. Protect your home.

Hello Francis Your answer is because most people don't question what they've been taught or why do people

believe or do what they do they just go along with the crowd so to speak. When it comes to God and His Word

if it doesn't fit don't wear it, I.E. believe it.

Could you please pray for my family. We need a place to stay. We had a fire in the basement but can't move back in for a few months. We're staying in a hotel right now. I'm very thankful we made it out, but we need to stay in a home, 1/2 bedroom. My plants are going to die, which they're just plants, but I've put A LOT of time and money into them. My cat got out, my daughter was burned badly. We need help. We need help from our FATHER and SAVIOR to help get us through this. Thank you in advance for the prayers.

    Hi Francis,

The queen of heaven the Israelites were worshipping was known to them as Astarte, Ashteroth, Asherah, or Ishtar. Originating in Sumer in the time of Nimrod, the queen of heaven was known as Inanna. When this idolatry traveled to Egypt after the Tower of Babel, she was known as Isis. Later, she was known as Eostre, (where we get our word Easter) Her festival was celebrated at the spring equinox. She was the goddess of fertility and of sexual love.

There also is the legend of that she was the mother or consort of Tammuz, who was "rebirthed" every December 25th. In Ezekiel 8:13-15, It is mentioned that the women were weeping for Tammuz. This is part of the way he was worshipped along with Ashtoreth. He was the sun-god, and she was the queen of heaven to rebirth him every year.

Gigi In my experience most people who don't believe in God or Jesus Christ do not believe in the devil

hell or judgement. The reason being is human error is not sin in their eyes its just man evolving from

one level consciousness to another or I just got to get better MY OWN WAY which leaves out sin and therefore

no saviour needed. By the way this is a lot of eastern thought I.E. Chi or Chai, but bottom line is worship

    of self.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank you Adam, I agree. Adam and Eve had free will and they choose sin over obedience. God sought them out in the garden and dealt mercifully with them. They responded to His grace. Cain had free will in choosing to kill Abel. God sought him out and told him of his sin. Cain did not respond rightly to God's mercy. He moved away from God, physically (to Nod) and spiritually (to rebellion). He used his free will. We have the same free agency. We can resist God's offer of salvation and reject the grace He offers when He reaches out to us in the Word or someone's witness. The Holy Spirit is willing to save all, but does not force anyone to be saved. The Word states that those who believe the gospel will be saved.

This universalist doctrine has been around for many centuries and was refuted time and time again, being rejected as false doctrine. It is good to remind those who promote it that it is contrary to Scripture and what most Christians believe. Cults usually form around such teachings that centralize one teaching while ignoring the full counsel of Scripture. I think the same is done in this matter by those who hold to universalist doctrine.

    Mishael,

Thanks for a telling post! In your life you have gone down alleyways I never visited, as I know that God put a hedge around me when I was young and a believer. But your testimony reminds us all of those who have been exposed to deep evil that captures and enslaves people, even against their "knowing" how bad it is. Our country is becoming more and more occultic, joining the millions in other countries that follow pagan practices. This pat is very destructive and "dehumanizing" way to live. Dehumanizing because it draws us further away from how God wants us to live in Him, which is our true identity. So, perhaps you are prompting many of us here to spend more of our time prayerfully. I am so glad that God can reach people no matter how deep they are in wicked things. He gave you a vision and a scripture. that is so lovely!

It is interesting the way He works. He gave you a glimpse of Himself and that changed you. I had a vision in January 2000 of Jesus. He was also dressed in white, but His whole body shone with such intense holy light that it went right through me in a way that was very painful. I knew I was sinful compared to Him. I asked Him "Lord, I am yours, why can't I stand before You?" He replied, "I am the Holy and you are flesh and blood in a carnal body. My holiness puts to death carnal flesh. That is why my holy light brought you to your knees." I then, once again, confessed myself a sinner in need of His righteousness. Though I had been a believer all of my life, this event changed me in an instant. I never shared this before. But it seemed appropriate to add this in response to your post. I do not seek such experiences. But the Lord thought I needed that vision. I am thankful and have a more profound view of Jesus than ever before.
