I used to be a street preacher, logged in a lot of miles, been chased by "Christian scientists", barked at by people and dogs lol. I frequently picked up new converts and took them to church with me. I've had a great life so far with Jesus!

I don't think about before I met Jesus too much. No one ever asked me if I'd like to go to church with them. After I was saved I made it a priority to ask people if they'd like to go with me; any day the church doors were open. I do not ascribe to doctrines on "When is Sabbath". I wholly support going whenever the doors are open. I'm not married and I actually love Jesus's Church.

Most of my neighbors are 50-80+ years old and lonely. They know I'm a Christian and we have some lively talks.

I was watching tornado videos and praying hard. I accidentally clicked on a website I've been to before.

Tonight I'm really excited because a teaching I heard 30 years ago was confirmed!! Genesis 1:1, in Hebrew reads: IN BEGINNING; not In The Beginning. Which proves God set time in motion for earth and people. The thing that proves it is the first word in Genesis; translated to BERISHEET in Hebrew. Isa 46:9

I don't know Hebrew and wish I did.

Alex. Luke 7:36-49 is clearly an account of a woman caught in sin but fallen at Jesus's feet. The Pharisee saw a wicked woman of the world touching a prophet of God. Jesus saw a sinful woman seeking forgiveness. The Pharisee would never forgive such a person, let alone come near her. Jesus saw her heart & forgave her on that basis.

What happened to the woman after that? We're not told. Hopefully, she abstained from such a lifestyle. Did she stop sinning as well? Did Jesus' forgiving her make her totally pure of all sin at that time & for the rest of her life? My guess, is that she, like us, still had sins popping up each day, & she remained, like us, guilty before God for those sins. Her story was all pre-Cross - how she responded to God from then & how God looked at her heart & life, we don't know. But we do know, that she, like us, will be judged for what we do with the Saviour of God.

Yes, we are to forgive one another, even our enemies - that is the Spirit's leading in our hearts. God's forgiveness is based on the response of the heart & post-Cross, that response has to be in line with what the Saviour has done for us & the world. If that forgiven woman continued to believe in the Lord & trusted Christ for her salvation, she would be saved. If she forsook Him & went back to her old ways, her judgement remains. If as you believe that God will forgive all inspite of what their spiritual state is, do you think that Satan will have half a chance of sneaking into God's Kingdom? If his disciples can all get in, why not the master?

The way I heard it, at Church; we're not to forsake assembling together. Our presence might mean a lot to someone who is losing everything they ever loved; the car is broke and they don't know what to do? They're saved but need some encouragement__just like in here.

In my experience, every time I feel the wind beneath me because I'm sitting on a pedastal__I know I'm going down. :D

Part of having this room is teaching; the other is ministry: encouragement, a timely verse of scripture (not 25 in a list). I go to church to hear a word from the Lord and to just hang out with the saints.

Please excuse me, Alex. Did you write: "The blood is applied to every person that hears the Gospel the living word as Jesus was the living word made flesh and blood?" If that's what you believe, maybe we've been able to identify a core problem in our understanding of the Scriptures. I read it this way: the Blood that was shed at Calvary avails (or, is made available) to all men. What men do with that Blood that was shed for them becomes their business, not the Lord's. Men are asked to hear it, receive it, believe it, & respond to it in repentance & faith. Once that happens, the shed Blood that is ever before God (as His required substitutionary payment) can then be applied to the sinner, to cleanse & forgive him. If man refuses to receive God's Gift, are you saying the God should still give it because He's a Good God? The God I read about is Holy, Good & Just - not only Holy & Good.

I perceive that you've missed out on the fact of personal conviction & response. Maybe you believe that is not required & that Jesus' Sacrifice was only a matter between Him & the Father & involves no human action & response to it. Since you didn't answer my questions on "why should the Gospel be preached, why should lives be changed, why should the Spirit come to indwell the believer, why should we live holy lives, if in the end everyone is forgiven & accepted?", maybe you have no answer. I would be interested how you would answer them in the light of what you have written.

Hello Rick. That's interesting that you mention Colossians 2:16-20. In the sermon this morning, I was directed to Colossians 2:12-15 - verses just before the ones you gave. It came as a confirmation of what the New Covenant in Christ's Blood accomplished: "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross". The Law as given was truly "holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good", but it failed to make a man righteous, rather to point him to his inability to keep it & his need of a Saviour.

Galatians 3:19-23: "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed."

And this faith that leads to salvation came after the work at the Cross was accomplished & the Holy Spirit was sent to give those earnestly seeking forgiveness, giving to them God's Grace & Faith to believe ( Ephesians 2:8). The Sabbath might be holy but if the Jewish rigidity of obedience is ascribed to it by Christians under the Blood, then both it & the whole Law nullifies one of the core accomplishments of the Cross: liberty to walk & obey in the Spirit & not by the letter.

This verse in Philippians is is yellow highlighted in my Bible because it is for me a "life" verse, one that I review often and hide in my heart to remember the excellencies of Christ's character that this verse describes and how I am to guard my thinking to keep it on the right track and focused on Christ, especially when tempted to sin in my thoughts.

In the OLD the blood was applied to the house and death PASSED over.

In the NEW Christ's blood was applied to the house and death PASSED over.

You will either be in the first resurrection TO LIFE, never seeing death or:

You will see death and latter be resurrected to life, to be judged.

Either way DEATH was DESTROYED by Christ's resurrection.

All is the WORKS OF GOD, man INHERITS God's works.

Revelations 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Psalms 25:13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and HIS SEED shall INHERIT the earth.

Thank you for those good words from our great God and Savior!

I was thinking today about how remarkable Jesus' whole life must have been to those who lived with Him and saw Him live from day to day from infancy on. He NEVER sinned. What did His family and childhood friends think about what they saw him do and say? Did people notice how holy and righteous He was? It must have been so obvious. Maybe that is why people followed Him so readily, knowing that His teachings matched his lifestyle. No hypocrisy, no misplaced emotions, nothing retaliatory or underhanded in all of His interactions, never a coarse of ungodly word, no guile, perfect innocence.

How lovely that must have been to behold as His mother, relatives, and friends.

I thank God for what He has done for you! To God be the glory.

Dear heavenly father, please work out all the insurance stuff. Help her not to worry but to spend her time praising you instead for all that you have done and just let everything else fall into place in Jesus mighty name I also ask that you bless her body and healing and that you would help her to be a light and a testimony thank you Jesus hallelujah lord we praise you tonight

Martha, this is a tough situation to be in without being married to a minister, but even harder if the abuser is a pastor.

I suggest that the abused document the abuse: any pictures, dr, records, text messaging to friends, etc. that can sow past abuse. I do not recommend remaining in a situation if the abused will be physically endangered. I think making an "safe escape plan" would be a good thing to arrange with a trusted friend or organization that helps in such situations. When the abused is then out of the situation and safe, then I do agree that you should take this before the elders with 2-3 witnesses and evidence, so that the abused will not be punished by the leadership for going against the pastor.

So, along with the safe escape plan, one would need to secure a legal separation and a no-contact order from the courts. Before one would do all of this, the abused should do what she can to secure income for expenses after the separation occurs until there can be court action for the distribution of income earned within the marriage.

I don't believe one needs to be divorced to receive such funds. Also, before all of this is initiated, secure a safe place to move to, even if temporary. If there are children, take them, too, away from the abuser.

I suggest that one do all that one can do to separate completely from the relationship. The abuser has broken the marriage covenant wit violence. This is talked about in Malachi 3:14-15. The treachery here has been interpreted as abuse by some commentaries, but others say it is the husband divorcing the wife of his youth to marry a younger woman.

I suggest that one consult a trusted Christian counselor with no connection to the church of the minister and family friends/relatives, to get help with this along spiritual, physical, emotional, and legal lines.

Rick, I agree. No one can does 400 laws perfectly. We walk by the Spirit and obey in love in each circumstance we find ourselves in day by day. The Spirit shows us ow to fulfill the spirit of the law, which is a righteousness that exceeds that of the Pharisees, in this sense. And ultimately, as we have been given the righteousness of Christ our "garment" our/His righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees to the ultimately perfect degree, in this sense.

I think it most likely refers to the herb used in cooking and medicines. Such herbs were included as part of a tithe for some people. Maybe it was included for the Levites to use, since they did not farm, but received everything they needed from the tithes.

Spencer, I never thought about that about a priest beginning is service at 30. I know in many instances in the old testament that men would take a wife at thirty or so (Iaaac and Jacob)

Could you rephrase your question so we can understand your request better?

Dear Catherine,

First of all, pray and be sure that God is calling you personally to partake of this fast that your church family is doing. Just because the pastor or others make a call to fast doesn't automatically mean that everyone in the church must do it.

If you feel that God is calling you to do this, ask him how you are to do it. Maybe water only, or water and one or two other beverages each day. God will let you know. It would not be cheating to alter what the pastor has asked for. the important thing is to do what God is asking you to do.

I have fasted for a week a handful of times. It wasn't hard after a few days. I suggest filling a pitcher with water to keep in the fridge and always refill your water bottle as soon as it is emptied. Drink as often as you can. When you feel hungry, pray instead or read the word and pray alternately. Occupy yourself with things that take up time without using lots of energy. But most of the time should be devoted to the Lord and the topic or persons the prayer fast is for. If other prayer needs come to mind, pray for those as well. God is working with your open heart. Write down the times and people/topics you pray for as you finish praying. This way you can have a memorial/testimony of how God worked in and through you.

And the truer you stay to the fast without "cheating" the easier it is. God will help you.
