    Matt.8:28-34 "The Gergesenes swine"

"There met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way."

Casting out demons from taking over a person is nothing new. Heart of man is treacherous. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Je.17:9-10). The Spirit in dealing with this wants us to remember what Jesus he was there fore. The Evangelist inspired by the Spirit gives us in terms of Prophet Isaiah 'Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."(8:17). Jesus knew the demoniac spirit would not leave him with all his powers at disposal so a legion clamored while he himself did not know how to be himself. How he wanted to follow Jesus after he was healed is what Matthew is laying emphasis on. So 'the two possessed with devils' refer to two personality. This is corroborated by both Mark and Luke versions. According to the fruit of his doings "And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him."( Luke 8:39b)" Jesus searches the heart to give every according to his ways and saw the man could be helped. It was he took over his case and restored him to his family. By the same token the devils were unanimous where they wanted to go." So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine./ And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters."(8:31-32)

The loss of swine was most unspeakable to the city where livestock counted more than men. Our times have no whit improved on the heart most deceitful and desperately wicked at the time of Jesus.

What is adultery in God's eyes?

Is it adultery in the FLESH, or adultery against God in our BELIEFS?

Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Revelation 17:5 And upon HER head was a name written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS (adulteresses) AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Which is more important to God, removing ministers that commit adultery in the flesh, or sin against God in their beliefs and teachings.

If the are corrected in their BELIEFS, they want sin in the flesh.

    Mary Jay (Earl)

We have been this route before many times and many others on here have given you many Scriptures that repute your position that in actuality we are gods.

Psalm 82:6 is speaking of the judges appointed over Israel when they had possessed the land. God is judging these judges as being mere men, not gods. He is mocking them because they dealt corruptly with the people. If they truly were gods they would not have cheated widows and orphans, preferred the cause of the rich, profited from their position, nor been flippant towards God and His requirements of them to 'stand among the people in His place' (thus the term of calling them gods). God was not proclaiming that these judges were in fact gods, but that those who are appointed to judge others are to judge as if God were judging through them. Jesus refers to this passage after He declared that He was one with the Father ( John 10:30) and the leaders wanted to stone Him for making Himself God. He quotes this Psalm as a rebuttal, not to affirm that the judges were in actuality gods, but that, if the leaders accept that Scripture as true, why would they be offended if He calls Himself the Son of God and one with God. He was calling the leaders out on their double mindedness and lack of understanding of the Scriptures though they knew them backwards and forwards.

Earl, God has stated so many times that He alone is God and there are no other gods, even though man may call idols gods or men gods. Just because man may consider idols or men gods does not make them gods.

There is only one God. And He is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and no others. He has forbidden making any gods of our own, whether idols or persons.

Your preoccupation with being a god is concerning. Why not humbly accept that we are mere humans created to be humans forever, though we are adopted as children of God through Jesus, not by our own constitution or nature, but by the grace and wisdom of God.

    Read Is. 44:6; 45:5; 46:9

    Hello Jema,

Since it seems you responded to my post I will respond to you. I have never reported anyone on this site or advocated for anyone to be banned. If the administration determines that someone should not be allowed to post then that is their prerogative.

The veracity of whether Jesus is God or not is not a matter of how many people believe it is true or not. Biblical truth is not determined democratically by consensus of the majority or minority. True doctrine is determined by what Scripture says to be true.

Even though billions of Christians believe Jesus is God does not make it true.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....'

    John 1:14

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us , full of grace and truth; we beheld his glory, as of the ONLY Son of the Father."

    John 10:30 Jesus says,

"I and the Father are one"

Just in these few verses we have Scripture stating that Jesus is God and is that the Father and Son are one together, though distinct persons.

Later on in John 14:16-17, Jesus says that He will ask the Father to send the Spirit. Thus naming EACH Person in the One God.

I think that true doctrine is important and beneficial to believers and that false doctrine is corrupting to a believer. That is why I speak out concerinng doctrine that is opposed to revealed truth in Scripture, especially doctrine concerning the identity, character, nature and work of our Savior.

Jema, I respect that you do wish to ignore or pass over postings that do not agree with your viewpoint.

And I respect that you prefer to speak what you believe without having others speak in disagreement of what you state as your beliefs.

This is a discussion forum, primarily, and not simply a place for people to post their beliefs without expecting a response. But each of us engage on this forum as we see fit as we prayerfully consider what others post and seek the Lord's guidance in how or if we respond to a posting.

    Hello Lee,

As I posted to Mary Jay (Earl) I have never reported him or anyone else on this forum. And I am encouraged at times by some of His posts, being that they align with Scripture. But He does teach error in these ways:

    1)That we are gods

    2) That everyone will be saved no matter if they believe in Jesus or not.

So, it is in these teachings that he has repeated over the years that I consider to be heretical and therefore identifying him as teaching what the Scriptures do not teach when considering the whole of Scripture.

    forum.

I genuinely care for Earl and I pray for him almost daily. But I do care about the truth more-so, and also for the community gathered on this forum that true doctrine is presented and that false doctrine is refuted.

Of course, I do examine myself and my own doctrines against the Word as everyone here should do. Earl has told me more than once that I am I error. I take that seriously and take the matter to Scripture to find out if, indeed, I am in error.

Thank you for your concern and for replying to me. I sincerely appreciate what you have said to me.

    Matt.8:23 "Waters saw thee!"

" But the men marveled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!"

The superscription refers to a Psalm quote, "The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled."(Ps.77:16) The body of waters know the sovereignty of the word of God. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.(Ge.1:2) Glory of the waters is derived from the Law. "The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever." ( Ps. 29:10)

Matthew gives by citing a few healings that Jesus did validating the quote from Prophet Isaiah (53:1) The centurion an outsider proved by his faith in the word declared by truth that lay writ. Thus the throne set over the flood whether we consider it literally or as a symbol for people(Is.57:20) does work. The earth itself is held by foundations which we know as the Word or the Law. "For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods."(Ps.24:2)This flood rages because these do not know the grace of God and it also helps us understand why the wicked are compared to troubled sea. Isaiah treats them as enemy "So shall they fear the name of theLordfrom the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of theLordshall lift up a standard against him."(Is.59:19)

Before Jesus rebuked the tempest the Evangelist presents the King of glory in terms of his outward circumstances as a vagabond. " And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."(8:20) It is to warn those who go by appearances. The suffering servant as Isaiah would say, "he hath no form nor comeliness" and" Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."(53:2-4)

    QUESTION?

Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days hath spoken to by his Son, WHOM he hath appointed HEIR of ALL THINGS ...

Being an heir of God, what does Christ possess?

Romans 8:17 And if children, then HEIRS of God, and joint heir with Christ ...

If Christ was made HEIR of ALL THINGS, would not you also, being and heir of God and joint heir with Christ? posses the same things?

Don't let your carnal mind LIMIT what God says he has done by the death and resurrection of his SON.

What are the saints of God going to be doing in the AGES TO COME?

Ephesians 2:7 ... that in the ages to come ....

I understand that people keep reporting him. And I am grateful that even despite this he returns. He truly has a patience of a saint. Instead of attacking each other maybe we ought to "examine thyself". If you do not like what he is saying then you can simply ignore him. I ignored him for a few days and meditated on the word of God. After doing so I am now beginning to understand certain things he has stated. Too many people on here hump to themselves teachers but only have itching ears. I rather be a student first before being a teacher. Thank you.

    God bless you.

As a side note I want to apologise that you are having to go through this amount of trouble for trying to edify your brothers. God did say that the people will kill thinking they are doing the work of God. I wish some people would "examine thyself" to make sure that they hold to sound doctrine before reporting people under false pretenses. Thank you for helping me lift this heavy burden from me.

    God bless you.

    Jordyn,

I appreciate the length you are going to get the gospel out. Here is what I believe. I believe that the only way into heaven is through faith in Jesus Christ. If anyone thinks that they have to have works to accompany their faith then I believe they do not have the right faith. Jesus will tell them "Depart from me, workers of iniquity." If we do not put our full faith in what Christ did for us on the cross then "Christ is dead in vain". Anyone who think they have to keep the commandments are still married to Moses and Jesus cannot partake in their adultery. After reading the book of John I have come to believe the WORK Jesus did justifies me, not my own works which "are as filthy rags".

Glory to God for you have given me greater understanding. God bless you.

Are those who are ministers involved in adultery removed and prohibited from future ministry positions?
  • Chris - In Reply - 1 year ago
Hi Mary Jay. As you know, we don't align in our understanding of the Scriptures, but thought to address this one post from you as an example.

In answer to your question, I exist as a physical person, now saved & revived by the Blood of Christ & His Spirit, joined to the Body of Christ. Am I "the BODY of Christ?" NO. My understanding of the Scriptures is that the Body of Christ is the Church ( Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18,24). So, I'm not the Body, Christ is; I am a part of that Body, the parts of which comprise the Church ( Romans 12:4,5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14). There can only be one Body, or else, if each member is the Body of Christ, then Christ is no longer the Head of His Church but the Head of each person. And though 1 Corinthians 11:3 states, "...that the head of every man is Christ...", this verse speaks about the position, in the spiritual realm & of the Church presenting before God, of woman to the man, of man to Christ & of Christ to God.

So with Galatians 2:20, my understanding of "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me...", is that my life that I now live is not my own (my ownership), but belongs to Christ (His ownership) with Christ (by His Spirit) Who now lives in me. This is a personal relationship with the risen Christ, with Whom all others who completely identify with Him, also enjoy. Thus together we form His Church, which is His Body; so the individual can never be Christ's Body - only His Church can be, which is the collection of believers.

    Ex.23:20 Angels

"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared."

Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy.

Angel of the Lord wherever it is mentioned in the Scripture is as a stand in for the Son. The sons of God mentioned in Ge.6 who took to wives from men were bad actors so St Paul would warn, " But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."(Gal.1:8)

Jesus of Nazareth confessed that he did not come to destroy the Law or prophets. His own testimony was to fulfill them. For this reason he tells the leper what he was to do. Law of Moses applied to the man who he healed. Similarly he would fulfill the Law because as Moses warned the Israelites of the Advent of the prophet from God he was obliged to fulfill it ,"For my nameisin him." Multiplying the loaves earlier instance demonstrated that he was the Word become flesh; in the case of seven baskets his testimony was to his Father who had sent the angels and as the writer to the Hebrews says, "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son."

In this context among so many unnamed angels we have the names Gabriel and Michel and their service also fell under the gospel which is one. They may be considered as 'prophets'. The place prepared overarches the land of Canaan and it is new Jerusalem as the Spirit wants us to take note of.

    Matt.15:24 "Seven loaves"

"And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes."

The Spirit gives the number Seven to indicate God's completeness so we have seven 'days' relating to the God document, the Holy Bible. (Ge.1) The House that Wisdom built has seven pillars, relating to 'my Father's mansions.' Seven golden candlesticks (Re.1:12) covering all those who are called and chosen for eternal habitations. Similarly seven seals relate to the judgment upon the disobedient beginning with 'woe to you' and sword, death and pestilence three horsemen color coded are spread out while the word gone forth from the mouth of the Lord is shown as the first horseman 'went forth conquering, and to conquer. We are told that he is none other than the Son, "and his name is called The Word of God.'(Re.19:13) It is of him Moses referred, "Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my nameisin him."(Ex.23:20-23)

Now the Isaiah quote: "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, "This is also tagged Seven which we infer from the martyrdom of the Two witnesses. "And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet;." What affrighted their enemies was the fact that resurrection is indeed true! The everlasting life promised to the world ( John 3:16)shall be made manifest. Sending the bread of heaven was one part and gathering the broken remains in seven baskets prove this part of the Isaiah quote:"but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."(Re.19:10) After healing the leper Jesus told him, "but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony."(Matt.8:4)

Matthew refers Testimony of Jesus to indicate, "it is done."

Thank you for your good question Kr00031. I have tried to do a little research on this by examining other verses with this 'anomaly'. And though I can't be sure about it in every case, my guess is that in the KJBible, quotation marks are not used to indicate someone's speech or a quotation from a source.

So, in today's English usage, if I were to write, Jesus said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone...." ( Matthew 4:4), I would use quotation marks front & rear of the sentence to indicate Jesus' Words. But in the writing of the KJB, quotation apparently weren't employed but capitalizing the first letter after the speech or quotation, indicated the start of it.

You can look at the following examples to see how this works: Matthew 2:8 (Go); Matthew 2:23 (He); Matthew 3:3 (The); Matthew 3:15 (Suffer). I think you will get the idea of how the first letter of the first word is capitalized when a message is uttered or a verse is quoted.

I do not believe that Jesus is God . Am I a heretic ? Should I be banned from this site ? What about others who do not believe that Jesus is God ? Should they also be banned ? To us , people who do not believe that Jesus is God , the belief that he is , is heretical . Are we calling for every one who believes that Jesus is God to be banned from this site ? There really are millions of people , Christians , who do not believe that Jesus is God , I'm not making that up , it's true . We don't get many of them on this site and the reason , to me , is obvious . They don't want any part in a site that is full of people who believe something that they think is absolutely not true . I do not call for any one , who doesn't believe the same things as me , to be banned . If a post offends me I just stop reading it . It's that easy . It's not my place to judge others , that position is filled by God . I do not put myself in God's place . People who believe that Jesus is God often say that it's their duty to ' call out ' heresies but don't seem to get that they themselves believe something that millions of others might consider a heresy . Intolerance is the word I'm looking for I think . If I am able to tolerate things on here that I find heretical , why can't others do the same ? I'm just as convinced about my beliefs as others are about theirs .
