"For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes."
People are always astonished when they hear truth instead of it as spoken by the scribes and the Pharisees. In our times it is contextual truth so those lawmakers when the place the bill for the House to take up for votes see to the elections coming around in four years. It is the question of their survival and not in the public good or truth that is the inflection point. "Let truth prevail" is what Jesus taught. He also would prove it is possible even if the cross was awaitng him at the end. He was the Word become flesh and not waiting for popular vote of the Sanhedrin to determine his future.
The scribes and the Pharisees taught, 'But all their works they do for to be seen of men 'and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi'.(23:5-7) which through the prism of men and their opinions was not truth at all. Jesus warned his crowd,"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."(7:15) They teach contextual truth which is based on their faulty understanding. "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,/(Touch not; taste not; handle not;/Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?/Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship."(Col.1:20-23)
Will worship begins where a believer leaves contact with Christ the Head. They point to specific verse "Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh,"(2 Co.5:16) which is not the same as Jesus the word become flesh "that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;/He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption"(Ac.2:30-31)
v.11 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?"
Jesus Christ as the bread from heaven. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:/Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."(John1:12-13). Abiding in the true Light established the quality of the gift. Everlasting life it is called. "In him was life; and the life was the light of men." (1:4)
God sent his messenger to prepare the way before his Son. "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."(3:3)
The Way,
v.14 "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."(He.11:6) Without faith it is impossible to please him. The whole duty of a believer is to trust Him and do the will of God, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." we stay the course.(1 Pe.5:7). Jesus explained how anyone may do the works of God. It is to believe on him that He sent. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."(7:21)
The Truth,
Is.28:16 "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation":Before the worlds began He laid the foundation stone in Zion. Whosoever has died to the world, who has made a sacrifice,("Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."-Ps.50:5) trusting in his promises is like the wiseman "which built his house upon a rock."(vv.24-25) This is same House with seven pillars. 'In my Father's House' We have been fellow laborers with all other saints.
From Jesus' own mouth He claimed to be divine and equal with God, Or (I AM YHWH) when He said He was the Son of God. when Jesus said He was the Son of Man, no one got very upset over that, but when He claimed to be God's Son, the Jews knew that He was claiming deity and were sorely vexed for they thought that Jesus was committing blasphemy. They thought that Jesus was showing great dishonor to God by claiming to be of the same kind as the Father, that is the same in substance as the LORD the Jews revered.
Jesus is still asking that question today!
( Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?)
I believe we have to know who he is and what he did to exercise faith.
Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto Peter, but the Father which is in heaven.
No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
He would be the anointing of God!!
That's an huge difference from being the anointed one.
He's "THE ANOINTING OF GOD"
Also, "The Son of the living God."
His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, THE ALMIGHTY.
The Almighty;= pantokratr
the all ruling that is God (as absolute and universal sovereign): - Almighty Omnipotent.
Revelation 1:8.
God bless you.
Also the 30 years that passed between the appearance of God to Abram in Mesopotamia on Nisan 15 where He made the promise that started Abram's sojourn until the covenant God made with Abram on Nisan 15 in Genesis 15 would be one month of years (the month Nisan in the Hebrew calendar is 30 days long).
"nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
5For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever."
These are people walking "every one in the name of his god". Not at all as you say. Better give it a second, third, and even a
fourth look before making that claim.
(Part 2):
The second part of Peter's confession, he says that Jesus is "the Son of the living God." This phrase (Son of the living God), if you ever have the time to look up that phrase from a Hebrew standpoint, you will find out that is the phrase that is used for God. The phrase "Son of the living God" to a Hebrew person is the same as calling Jesus God.
And please keep in mind that Jesus was accused of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God. Why did the Jews consider this to be blasphemy? It's because when Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, according to the Jews, He was claiming to be equal to God, God Himself. That's what that phrase means to a Jewish person.
What Peter was confessing was that you (Jesus) are the Messiah, and you are God. Wow, what a Confession! That is different than the public opinions, even in today's opinion on who Jesus is. But the importance is that everybody must settle it in their own hearts and minds about who Jesus is.
Was He just a great man? Was He just a great teacher? Was He a great healer? Was He a prophet? Was He the brother of Satan? Was He Michael the archangel? Or was He God in the flesh? Did Peter give the right answer?
In Matthew 16:17, Jesus answers Peter and says, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." Was Peter's response to the question on who Jesus is revealed to Him by God? And if God the Father revealed this to Peter, why should our answer be any different than Peter's when we asked this most important question about who Jesus is? Is He the Christ, the Son of the living God? Or is he someone else?
(Part 1):
In Matthew 16:13-20, we see the public opinion of Jesus. Many theologians hold that this is the center of the Gospel, the public opinion on who Christ is. When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked his disciples saying, and here's the first question of two, concerning public opinion:
First, Jesus asks, who do men say that I the Son of man am? The disciples responded to Jesus' question by giving Him the public opinion. They said that some say that you are John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
In our day, most everyone has an opinion about who Jesus is. Even religious groups, they will hold Him to be a prophet, or a rabbi, or a teacher. The Mormons say that Jesus is the brother of Satan. The Jehovah's Witnesses say that Jesus is Michael the archangel. Once people hear about Jesus, they form an opinion about who He is.
In Matthew 16:15, Jesus says to them, "But whom say ye that I am?" The first question is the public opinion. Now Jesus gets personal with those closest to Him. He asks His disciples, "But who do you say that I am?" You gave me the public opinion. Now I want you to answer the question. Who do you say that I am?
Please notice Peter's response in Verse 16. Peter says, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." There are two parts to this confession, "Thou art the Christ," and "the Son of the living God." Christ is the translation of the Greek word that is the same as the Hebrew word for Messiah (MESHIACH), and it means the anointing. The Jews believed that when Messiah came, He would be the anointing of God in human form. And that's who He is, God in human form!
God bless.
God bless you.
4 I will not know a wicked person.
5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
The last member of 4th generation of Israel's army was admitted to its ranks the day before the Passover in the 490th year after God appeared to Abraham, which was the first Passover celebrated in Hebron after Caleb took possession of it. Hebron was the place Abram was standing 460 years earlier in Gen 15 when God told Abram he would know with certainty he would possess the land when his seed returned here (i.e. Hebron) in the 4th generation. This Passover occurred after 70 times 7 weeks of years which is later echoed by Jesus in the number of times we are required to forgive our brothers their sin rather than merely the 7 times that Peter suggested as the maximum number of times we must forgive our brothers their sins.
The sacrifice of Issac by Abraham also almost certainly again occurred on the day of Passover. This established the mountain which David bought to build the temple and which led to him receiving the promise of both the everlasting house and kingdom that our Lord has established. The offering of Issac could have taken place as early as Abraham's 28th year in the land when Issac was 13 (the age Ishmael was circumcised and Jewish men have their Bar Mitzvah) or as late as the 53rd year Abraham sojourned in the land when Issac was 38 in the year his mother Sarah died at age 128 and Abraham purchased her burial cave. This range allows for Issac to be the exact same age when Abraham offered him as a sacrifice that Jesus was when he was offered by the Father as a sacrifice. This almost certainly occurred when Issac was 35, which would have been 3 years before the burial cave was bought, i.e. 3 days of years signifying Christ would take possession of death and the grave in 3 days.
Anyway, I look to the Biblical model, the way we are restored to a right relationship with our God. And secondly, Numbers 5:6-7, the person who commits the trespass against another human being, is given instructions to repair the damages.
6 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
7 Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.
So that's really the way it's supposed to be. The person who was wronged should be made whole again. Up to five times . Then, the wronged person is in even better shape than before. And, that would eliminate grudges. If my two relatives would write multiple letters of apology to all my relatives, if they would correct the slander. If only. Then, I would feel able to truly forgive. Maybe God does not expect anything other than that for me.
Even tho I will still remember that there was a debt, and I cannot forget that truth. But, I "forgive" the debt of them making things right with me. I release them from the obligation. Now, obviously, we would not have a restored relationship. But, at least I won't be boiling mad all the time.
"And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:"
Only Jesus stands for the children of thy people. Jesus, the great I AM.
Isaiah lists 26 names for our LORD.
