Jonijo In the context individuals who have been born again if they are deceived to going back to the pollutions

of the world i.e. lust of flesh lust of eyes, pride of life they are again entangled trapped by the old man nature the

next verse is a very remarkable mind picture. It would have been better to have not known the way of righteous

then the end result it is like a dog wallowing in its own vomit, you are in a state worse than when you were not

born again. That I can't imagine! They have walked away from God.

Joseph must have not spent much time with these brothers. Maybe children were brought up with their mothers and since Jacob had 5 wives, they may not have interacted much with their youngest two brothers from Rachel. None of his older brothers had Rachel for a mother. The brothers schemed about a way to kill him. Rueben was sensible and more honorable than the others. He wanted to trick is brothers and rescue Joseph. He didn't want Joseph to be killed and suggested an alternative plan whereby he could later rescue Joseph. The brothers agreed with him and put him into a dry cistern. Rueben was not wit the brothers when Judah suggested to sell Joseph to the caravan that included Ishmaelites (from Abraham and Hagar) and Midianites (from Abraham and Keturah). They apparently associated together, at least for trade purposes). Judah may have wished to spare Joseph, or maybe he just wanted to be able to make a buck off of his brother.

In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an official of the Pharaoh. Rueben was very upset when he came to the cistern and found Joseph gone. He did not know what had happened to Joseph.

Then the brothers covered up their plot by taking his coat, killing a kid goat, and soaking the coat in the blood. Jacob was none the wiser in tis matter. When the sons came with the bloody coat he was convinced that Joseph had died from an animal attack even though Joseph's body was no where to be found. Jacob grieved long and hard for Joseph. The brothers tried to comfort their father, but he was not easily comforted.

This is when the story ends.

Joseph was a dreamer, given this gift from God. It is not revealed how aware Joseph was of God and how closely he followed Him. His character and relationship with God will be tested in the years to come.

Here again we have a parent showing favoritism to one child over another. This time it was Jacob favoring Joseph, his 11th son. Hadn't Jacob learned anything from growing up with his mother favoring him and his father favoring Esau? surely e knew what it was like to favored and not favored. But, Joseph was Rachel's child and she was favored by Jacob over his other wives.

Joseph was 17 in this chapter. So, for 17 years, his brother had witnessed how their father favored and pampered Joseph. He did not work in the fields with his brothers, even though he was old enough to do so. He was given finer clothing than them. Their father allowed Joseph to snitch on his brothers. Was Jacob aware of how damaging this favoring was to his other sons? I am the fourth of ten children in my family. Growing up we did have discussions and arguments about who was favored by my parents. They tried not to favor any of us, but they made comments that led to us thinking some were more of a "golden child" than others. But we never hated our siblings.

Joseph was given dreams from God. I don't think Joseph really knew quite how to handle these dreams and so wanted to tell others to find some answers, perhaps. Maybe he did want to lord it over his brothers a bit. He was not perfect.

Telling his brothers ended up being for the good because, in time, they all would be reminded of these dreams from many years past when in Egypt. I wonder if the multiple colors of the coat was significant. Any help on this?

Perhaps it was just that it was considered expensive, extravagant, or time consuming to dye so many different colors before spinning into threads to create the coat.

His brothers were jealous of Joseph and hated him. They commiserated together over this while working in the fields. They were old enough to have married and began families of their own by this time. Jacob sending Joseph out to see how the work was going was not welcome, since he often would bring back a bad report about them.

I have to disagree S. Spencer , I recall that Abraham believed God and that's an act of obedience.

To not believe is a form of disobedience. And considered sin .

Read Genesis chapter 22 for context ,

Read verse 16 " and said , By myself have I sworn , sayeth the Lord , for because thou hast done this thing , and not withheld thy son , thine only son : that in blessing I will bless thee

Verse 18 because thou hast obeyed my voice .

It's amazing God does test us to prove us as he did Abraham, if Abraham refused to obey , he also would have missed out on the blessing .

An interesting story , here like the one of God giving his own Son Jesus , God did what he asked Abraham to do ! Pure Gold on Gods part He did what He asked of another to do , but with unmeasurable results.

This chapter gives the lineage of Esau. It says that he left Canaan (the promised land) to live in Seir. There was are mountains there that stretch from the southeast of the dead sea to the gulf of Aqaba. Seir means hairy, so it was named after Esau. His lands were called Edom and he was renamed "Edom" in scriptures, too. Edom means "red" as Esau was known to be hairy and red all over. (perhaps with red hair).

The remainder of the chapter recounts the sons born to Esau from is three wives and also is sons' sons. They were called "dukes" (princes or chieftans). Esau's lineage was the ruling class of this area which was inhabited by other groups when Esau moved there. It does not say how Esau became so powerful over the inhabitants, but perhaps having so many sons and grandsons factored into this.

    Hi Hans.

A conditional covenant is an agreement between two or more parties that requires certain terms to be met. If the terms are met, there will be one kind of result (favorable). If the terms are not met, there will be a different result (unfavorable).

The case we have here is Abraham had no participation in the oath being made therefore he was not bound to an oath.

It was the Lord given the promise and it was "HE" who confirmed it with an oath.

    Hebrews 6:13-14.

    Hebrews 6:17.

It didn't take obedience of the Law to form the Covenant.

    Galatians 3:17-18.

However I didn't Leave out obedience.

Here's why and how we obey.

AND OPERATION OF THE HOLYSPIRIT IN THE NEW COVENANT.

    THE TRUE VINE!

    John 151:17.

Ps. You are not expected to bare fruit until AFTER you are connected to the vine.

    Notice verse 4.

    John 15:4.

The branch cannot bear fruit of itself!!

Nor does it produce the fruit!!

Again. ( YOU CANNOT PRODUCE THE FRUIT ) YOU BEAR IT.!!

    ( 2 Corinthians 3:5. )

    Hebrews 10:16

    Romans 6:6

    Romans 8:10-11.

    God bless.

a life form before those two but like I said no one knows what that was because God doesn't say. There are things in the word that we cannot know why because we are not told.

Here's another example no one knows when Christ will return for His body the church why because that is in Gods Hands period.

Earl When we are born again we do not get God we get His Gift Holy Spirit even then our natural man sins or

breaks fellowship that's why we need to confess the sin and ask forgiveness then fellowship is restored. We are

spiritual clean but not physically because of the flesh, two different things remember flesh is flesh and spirit is

spirit. One decays flesh the other incorruptible spirit.

  • Michael the Archangel in charge of Moses's body - In Reply on Jude 1 - 4 years ago
    Wesley's Notes for JUDE 1:9

1:9 Yet Michael - It does not appear whether St. Jude learned this by any revelation or from ancient tradition. It suffices, that these things were not only true, but acknowledged as such by them to whom he wrote. The archangel - This word occurs but once more in the sacred writings, # 1Thess 4:16|. So that whether there be one archangel only, or more, it is not possible for us to determine. When he disputed with the devil - At what time we know not. Concerning the body of Moses - Possibly the devil would have discovered the place where it was buried, which God for wise reasons had concealed. Durst not bring even against him a railing accusation - Though so far beneath him in every respect. But simply said, (so great was his modesty!) The Lord rebuke thee - I leave thee to the Judge of all.

People's Bible Notes for Jude 1:9

Jude 1:9 Michael the archangel. Michael is brought forward as a contrast with those who speak evil of dignities. He is called by Daniel "the Great Prince" (Da 12:1), and here "the archangel", or head angel. He disputed about the body of Moses. The reference is not to a statement of the Bible, but to a Jewish tradition which held that the burial place of Moses was placed under the charge of Michael. Durst not bring against him a railing accusation. Yet in addressing the devil, a fallen angel, he did not rail at him, but only said, "The Lord rebuke thee".

    1 Corinthians 13

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not LOVE, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not LOVE, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not LOVE, it profiteth me nothing.

4 LOVE suffers long, and is kind; LOVE envieth not; LOVE vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the TRUTH;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 LOVE never fails, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away,

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known;

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE

Mishael: we are following Jesus. When His Love is perfected in Us, we become more like Him. We don't strive. We teach patiently. Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to us in a way that helps us to see ourselves in that mirror. Looking into it___we see less of us, and more of Jesus. Perfection of Love, within us. It frees us in a way that is almost indescribable. Acceptance in the BELOVED.

He loves & accepts__now, then, and in between.

Brother Rick, these words are for edifying and not for rebuke.

Christ is a body, and his Father does the Fathers work through Christ.

Christ never spoke a word of himself nor did a work of himself, therefore he never sinned.

We are no different, we are just a body, we speak no words of our self nor do any works of our self.

All is of GOD. When we are brought to this truth, by judgement, being born again of truth, we cannot sin, because we are a body (vessel) and a body can do nothing (of itself) other than what the life in that body CAUSES it TO DO. And God doesn't sin. He uses EVIL to BRING ABOUT GOOD, therefore its not sin.

He makes some (his work) vessels of HONOUR and some (his work) vessels of DISHONOUR.

Romans 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have NOW obtained mercy through THEIR UNBELIEF:

Romans 11:31 Even so NOW have these NOT believed, that through YOUR MERCY (when the elect judge the world) THAT THEY MAY ALSO OBTAIN MERCY.

SIN is UNBELIEF, the wages if UNBELIEF is DEATH, the WAGES of BELIEF is LIFE.

John 16:8 When he is COME (he is here NOW, in you) he will reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, and judgement:

John 16:9 Of SIN; because they BELIEVE NOT on me (The WORD, all the words).

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Comment: ONLY GOD can change a heart. We are teach with kindness and patience. Not with the leaven of scribes and Pharisees. How did Jesus accomplish this? Study in 1 John, 2 John, 3 John.

I Agree with the disciple "Is one who follows ones teachings.

Look how that is supposed to look like from the rest of the world.

John 13:34-35. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

( BY THIS SHALL ALL MEN KNOW THAT YE ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YE HAVE LOVE ONE TO ANOTHER. )

This is a Love we can't manifest in the flesh. It's a Love we can't do on our own.

    Boniface,

God did work a wonder in bringing forth our country. Our country offers an individual the greatest freedoms of any country in the history of the world. We should hope to preserve it and make it better than what it has regressed to become.

I am dismayed by the hatred aimed against our country and the strong and good foundations on which it was built. I pray tat God can bring revival to our country and set it aright once again to be a shining beacon of hope (the gospel) and "light" (of Christ) to the world. I remember President Ronald Reagan well the way he uplifted the view of our country in a positive and helpful way. May God raise up a President for us who will be led by righteous principles and faith in God.

Our country was created by much blood, sweat, and tears. It has been preserved by much blood, sweat, and tears. It may need to be restored by much blood, sweat, and tears, as well. Let us labor in prayer for our country.

    UNCONDITIONAL COVENANT TO ABRAHAM.

This is what is getting covered up by spritualizing certain text.

And How it relates to us.

Hebrews 6:13-19 (KJV) For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

Saying, SURELY BLESSING I WILL BLESS THEE, and MULTIPLYING I WILL MULTIPLY THEE.

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the IMMUTABILITY of his counsel, CONFIRMED IT BY AN OATH:

That by TWO IMMUTABLE THINGS, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, BOTH SURE AND STEADFAST, AND WHICH ENTERED INTO THAT "WITHIN THE VEIL;"

Galatians 4:28. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Here's the covenant and Promise between God and Abraham.

TAKE NOTICE OF WHO IS THE LONE PARTICIPANT IN PERFORMING THE COVENANT.

    Here's Isaac being Promised.

    Genesis 15:4-5.

    Abraham's participation.

    Genesis 15:6.

    Here's the covenant performed.

    Genesis 15:8-11.

NOTICE WHAT GOD DOES TO ABRAHAM.

    Genesis 15:12.

This covenant being instituted by God only suggests its faithfulness depended on Gods PROMISE NOT ABRAHAM'S FAITHFULNESS!!

Abraham faith was in God's PROMISE!!

That's Mercy, Grace, and Faith apart from works. And Eternal Security all in view here.

    Galatians 4:28. !!

    Galatians 3:8-9.

    Galatians 3:13-15.

THE PROMISE OF A SAVIOR GIVEN BEFORE THE INSTITUTION OF THE MINISTRATION OF DEATH!!

    Galatians 3:16-17.

    2 Corinthians 3.

    Galatians 3:18.

    THE TRUE VINE!

AND OPERATION OF THE HOLYSPIRIT IN THE NEW COVENANT.

    Hebrews 10:16.

    Romans 6:6.

    Romans 8:10-11.

    ( 2 Corinthians 3:5. )

This is what's being attacked by those crept in from unawares.

    God bless.
