The brothers suggested making a covenant agreement with Hamor as a deception to avenge the honor of Dinah and return her to their family. Jacob, Hamor, Shechem, and the brothers agreed that Shechem could marry Dinah if all of the men were circumcised. (The brothers knew that the men of the town would be too sore to fight, therefore, sitting ducks for them to kill them and remove the men from that town, thus preventing any from marrying into their family)

Jacob agreed to the covenant, not knowing the plan of his sons. He was willing to compromise what he knew was

God's will to be expedient and protect is family from harm. If his sons hadn't done what they did, Abraham's seed would have mingled with the Canaanites, who were far, far from God. Although it seems terrible that the brothers would slaughter all of the men for the sin of Shechem, it accomplished God's purpose of keeping His chosen race of people from intermingling the seed of promise outside of the Hebrew lineage. Down the road, Dinah's daughter or granddaughters would become wives to her brother's children and grandchildren. God did not want her to marry and have children with a Canaanite and his will was accomplished in this account.

Jacob was bothered by what happened. He was afraid of having problems with those around him. Since their family had just arrived and it had been 20 years since he was in this area, he was not known. His parents maybe didn't even know he was back in the area yet. He felt vulnerable and forgot to trust in the God he was just getting to know. He doubted God's faithfulness to him and is family. He took his eyes off of the covenant and promises God had spoken to his grandfather, father, and himself (at least 3 times). Jacob still had a long ways to go to have faith like Abraham.

Hi Victor I'm sharing not to persuade you just to show scripture, backsliding is a turning away from. Now God always

keeps His Promises and His word is true When we are[ born again spiritually] confess Romans 10:9+10 we are freely given holy spirit and all sin old

nature acts or actions are paid for in full. Committed renewed mind believers sin or break fellowship but not on purpose

we confess the broken fellowship and get back on track 1 John 1:8+9 The believers who for awhile stand then get caught up in the things of the world again and will eventually go back to their old man nature a dog wallowing in its own vomit

2 Peter 2:20-22 ways of the world. The guy who tricks people into that is satan by deception. We will all that are born again be rewarded for the time we stood on the word and all the other works will be burned up 1 Corinthians 3:12-15. That's what Jesus Christ paid for in this age of Grace of the Church, its like being given a full box of mechanics tools, some will put the gift to full use others will commit for a while others will commit a lifetime, God new that and still kept His promise. In the eyes of God we are saints his children period. P.S. I don't listen to her because there's a lot of stuff not kosher. God Bless

This is an account of a young girl, Dinah, Jacob's daughter with Leah. This is early in their arrival to Canaan, having just arrived from Haran after 20 years there. Dinah was not 20 years old. She was the 7th child of Leah. Leah bore thre son (probably in a span of 6-9 years, then she didn't conceive for some time. Then she bore 3 more sons (probably a span of 6-9 years) Then she bore Dinah. Dinah was young, probably 12 years old or less. Se was a child, not able to give consent. She was grabbed by Shechem, drug away from the field, and raped by him. Dinah was a young girl, not old enough to be given in marriage, most likely. She most likely looked to have friends from the girls of the town, since she was the only sister of 11 brothers, all older than she was. She was not at fault.

Shechem could have chosen a wife from among the people of his town, but he preyed on the new girl in town, perhaps watching her for a time before advancing on her and overpowering her. Notice the text says she had to be taken from his home by his brothers. She was kidnapped and held against her will. Shechem thought that he "loved" her after he had raped her. It may have been a custom in is culture that girls can be stolen from their families, sexually violated, and then kept as a young wife as she grew into womanhood. It is this way in Islamic communities still. Maybe Shechem did not know her family was close by, thus making her "free" for the taking. But, Jacob did find out and Shechem begged his father, Hamor, to talk with Jacob and convince him to give Dinah to be his wife. So they met, and Dinah's brothers overheard the conversation. Upon discovering that Shechem raped their sister, they were greatly angered, and rightly so. Not only was Dinah a young girl who was raped, but they knew that she was to marry kin, not Canaanites. Jacob knew this, too, but he wanted to maintain peaceful relations with the people of Shechem, so he most likely would have compromised to make things.

This is man trying to play God and find their own salvation, to live forever without God. They hate God's nature plan and try to pervert anyway they can. They use his symbols and mock them for their own lusts. It is getting near Sodom and Gomorrah each day, it will not top unless you have the seal of God in you mind, then deliver up before the Synagogue of satan. Philadelphia and Smyrna are the only two churches who taught this, Christ approved. The other five Christ did not approve, thus with your denominations today, all teach different and not what Philadelphia and Smyrna taught. What does you church teach? If it is not what Christ approved, you're not in his favor, like the five churches. Man attempt at his own salvation by using fetal tissues and organs, sacrificing , and looking to satan for eternal life. we know that people can jab, tattoo , mark you, but that will not change ones heart, and God is heart knower ( Acts 2:17

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:") The Mark of the Beast is the belief that the tribulation (Failing Away) will happen after Christ return, ie, the rapture. Eve though is clearly states that shall not happen until, until what? ( 2 Thessalonians 2:3"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"). Its say says that satan will look like Christ ( Revelation 13:11"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.) God allow satan to appear as Christ, to fool those who read over Gods word. ( 2 Corinthians 11:14"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.")God warn of those teaching raptue, Ezekiel 13:20

I agree, but the Scripture, Gen 3:21 says that God made tunics of skins for them. It does not say He killed an animal. or that the skins were from an animal. But that is the normal interpretation of this passage, that the skins were from an animal. It is open for interpretation several ways, but I don't think it is something to duke out, in my opinion. I can see it being either way.

Cynthia, if this person is your husband, then, this must be terribly troublesome for you, especially having the 6 children tat you do. My advice, please be very careful about letting him return to the family home before he receives treatment and is recovering well. You may put the custody of your children in jeopardy by having him living with you. These little ones need their Mom more than ever since their Dad is not only unable to parent them, but may be damaging to them with his addiction.

I also advise you to meet with your pastor, if you have one, and/or someone you know who is a believer and can be supportive to you and your children as a prayer warrior, and also a practical help, such as caring for your children when needed, helping with household meals, and other such matters. You are in a huge fight right now and cannot take care of everything and everybody in your life to your best. So, a dear friend is a treasure. Many on this site are praying for you and your husband. May God deliver him soon.

Yes, united. We are reconciled to God; peace has been made between us and God through Christ, whereas before we we saved, we were separated from God; in opposition of God, and under the bondage of sin, which accused us and would not allow us to have peace.

Also, in Jon 14:27, Jesus, at the Last Supper, said to the apostles tat he was giving them His peace and that He was leaving His peace with them, knowing He would die, rise, and ascend to heaven soon. The Holy Spirit effects our Lord's peace in our hearts when He regenerates us and unites us to God. Jesus also said that His peace is different than the peace the world offers. It is the result of something the world could not effect, reconciling us to God. It is through Jesus, our Prince of Peace, that we rest in the peace of coming to God for and being freed from the bondage of sin, therefore, no longer having the condemnation of our sinful nature causing us distress. Hallelujah!

Hi Cynthia This is where it gets challenging, if your husband and you are christians believers we uphold the Word, if he wants to come that's good under your conditions. You don't tell him what to do you always ask, we aren't demanding we are loving. This is where biblical tough love comes in, you make the rules I.E. be there for meals keep things in order, do what your husband and you ask. You love him don't let him manipulate, don't give an inch he'll try for a mile. Nothing valuable around him. If he plans to stick around he has to get a job even if its Mickey Ds if you don't work you don't eat.

If he wants money why, you control the situation. Last before he moves in talk to him about the rules if he does not agree no deal. We are the forgiving people, but the individual has got to want the help. Also this may sound odd mention nothing about religion or God I don't believe at this point its wise. These are just suggestions been there done that.

    ChrisE,

Very well stated. This is the same point I was trying to make not too long ago, but I like the way you put it. The Lord knows His sheep. He knows all those who presently belong to Him. It would not make sense at all for one of His sheep to stand before Him one day and hear the words "Depart from me, I never knew you." If He knows me now, how could He say that He never knew me later?

Have you ever been in a face to face discussion with someone who believes that salvation can be lost? I have. If you ever get into one of those discussions, try asking them if they think they will or can lose theirs. Whoa, now it becomes personal. You can sort of sense how tense they become when you question them about their own personal salvation.

I've been in those conversations. I've had people tell me that you can lose your salvation, but then when you make it personal for them losing theirs, they will say things like "No, not me, because I love the Lord too much for that to ever happen, and I will always follow Him, so I'm never going to lose mine! When did salvation become conditional based on our own human works? Some are quick to agree with Ephesians 2:8-9, but then they turn around and misapply it by believing human works plays a part in their salvation. We are saved by God's grace and mercy alone, not by our own works of righteousness.

I am in total agreement with you , there are one or two others on here who would also agree . Many on here feel differently to us , they are kind enough to tolerate us so we must respect them also . I like to try and focus on the things that we have in common , you are not alone so don't feel as if you are . I've learned a lot on this site , stay with us all and we can hopefully edify encourage and enlighten each other in spite of our differences .

Hi Jesse I view walking by the spirit as literally a step by step day by day decision to focus on walking on what we have

    been given

by the grace of God and not turning back to look at the past at all. Dwelling on the past, nope can't change that, thinking your not good enough nope we are the righteousness of God In Christ Jesus. Looking in a mirror And judging yourself by what you see nope in Gods eyes we are complete in Him. Got bills to pay economies not doing good nope my God shall supply all your need. Gotta buy new car and go into debt to look good nope trick of the enemy to put you in debt.

Pleasing everybody but compromising a little bit nope Love God with all our Heart Soul Mind and Strength and Love your Neighbor as Yourself We will never do it perfectly but the journey is tremendous joy and rewards will be beyond our thinking. Just some stuff.

Demons run in gangs. This gives us an idea how to pray for someone who is "oppressed". It is a slightly incomplete CHART but we will see these names are mentioned in the Bible when we use the SEARCH BOX.

It didn't mean Christian people are PO-ssessed. It means a doorway is open & we need to close it. Everyone needs to get rid of anything that speaks of any kind of occult: old records, books, mags, jewelry, even beer tshirts.

In my experience, demons will flee if we plead the blood of Jesus. But if we don't close the "doors", they'll return.

With my astrology stuff, I told the Holy Spirit "these are worth a lot of money?" He said someone will buy them and believe as you did. I'm still bargaining.. but then I said, I'll throw them in the trash. He said someone will find them and believe as you did. I had a 35 gallon metal trash can that I loaded up. I needed a witness and a day later a Christian friend came over and I told that I had been saved!! God provided a windstorm so no one would see the smoke. I poured over charcoal lighter and lit it up. It burned a couple of hours. I said: God I do this for You!

Not everyone has this much trouble. As we see on this chart, the inner workings of the demonic realm. It's FRUIT.

I came home one night full of Holy Ghost joy, sat on the bed to read the Bible a few. A demon manifested in my 10' high closet. It was like a refrigerator shape and appeared to be twisted branches and roots. Fear oozed from it. I got mad. Did it think I was going to run screaming from the room? I leaned over and kicked the door shutprayingtake your fears and GO into outer darkness and roam forever! In Jesus Name.

We have to know who we are in Jesus? Victorious!! And deal with it as it happens. They come back periodically to see if we still mean it?

Read your Bible and model your life after Jesus, and the Apostles & Paul.

Hello James Carlson, that's powerful. People suffer much from lies & much from believing lies. Your comment, speaks deeper into devastating "news" heard, effects from it. With wisdom you were shown this, insightful. I think it was a revelation to you personally & others that have been devastated by lies. The toll it can take on a person. However I agree with Chris, I think I would go further to say I think many loving parents would immediately run to their children to make sure the news was correct, to care for them even in death, cover them & give a proper burial, ect. Job was beyond average as a Parent in that: Job 1:5. He was very concerned for them to be right with GOD, that he would make sacrifice on their behalf. Like Earl, Gi Gi, mentioned, pointing to GOD's bigger picture of GOD's atonement for us through Jesus. That's probably why Job is sometimes called prophetic book. Interesting I hadn't seen that beforehand. Gi Gi, & Sacha have the most perfect point that it is most significant whoes report we believe, in that GOD says nothing shall harm you by any means. Luke 10:19. Knowing all things will work together for good._.._ Romans 8:28-29, Even in disaster & disastrous moments when we believe GOD, HIS WORD, HIS report we will be much better off in every way. Hebrews 12:26-29, we should not be as; Luke 21:26

Didn't read all comments, hopefully this is encouraging. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts & intellectual insight.

Thank you David! This is exactly what I needed to hear today, because contrary to what everyone tells us, we keep coming to his rescue. He has asked to come home, and I am the one saying no, even though I am grieving and sad about the whole situation, but how can we just say no, since he has nothing and no help. So..it looks like we will try again. It really is about denying yourself and serving in this life, and it is very hard, so thanks again, and I am sure you will hear from me again..I will update you, and my goodness 6 children! Bless you, and yours!
  • GRACE_ambassador {ChrisE} watered-down Doctrine? on 1 Corinthians 4 - 4 years ago
Ephesians 4:5 ...ONE Baptism... Precious friends, why is that God's 'Sound' Doctrine, Today, Under God's Amazing GRACE, is being 'Changed' Into TWO baptismS? I believe "God is Not the author of All of the following 'Confusion/Division'" 1 Corinthians 14:33 over water baptism - 10 'Different' kinds of 'traditions' in religious denominations - and the question for "TWO baptismS 'water' adherents" is, which of the following do you Sincerely believe is God's reason you should 'practice this tradition' today, Under GRACE?:

    1) believe AND be baptized {i.e. immersion to contact their Christ's blood}?

    2) immersion with a symbolic interpretation?

    3) immersion ONCE in the "name of Jesus?

    4) immersion THRICE in the "name of the Triune Godhead?

    5) immersion {whether once or thrice} for "membership" in their traditional assembly?

    6) sprinkling water on babies inducting them into religion washing away their original sin?

    7) sprinkling water on babies inducting them into some covenant?

    8) sprinkling water on babies inducting them into their parent's custody that they promise to raise them right? {into Mass Confusion?}

    9) sprinkling water on babies, admitting that their ritual is UNscriptural, but "we do it anyway, because it is OUR tradition!"?

    10) pouring water onto babies or adults for Whatever traditional reason religion "can come up with"?

Precious friends, to date no one has shown Plainly And Clearly, From Scriptures, which one

of these traditions God Commands for those of us who believe in The BLOOD And The Resurrection of The LORD JESUS CHRIST!

Would not this 'Confusion' be from the enemy, and "Not from God" 1 Corinthians 14:33 ?

Why are very few 'interested' in "studying This Issue Rightly Divided" in order to find The Real Truth From God's HOLY Word?

Thus, I believe and have spoken - I was once a 'proud denominationalist' but God Caused me to repent, When He Led me to HIS Truth.
