Thank you for you response. It helps to discover more about people we can't know in person so that we can understand more of why they think a certain way that they do when they share their thoughts.
Jesus' church is a body of believers. We are to teach one another and, at the same time, remain teachable and willing to receive instruction from outside of ourselves. God places people in our paths that are used to do this. This does not negate being "taught by the Spirit" because the same Spirit is working in private learning as well as learning with and by others. I respect your point of view and appreciate you sharing it. It makes me have to think through a response that is honorable. Neither of us have perfect truth on this side of heaven. But we are both guided and indwelt by the very same Spirit. Salvation is our free gift through Jesus. We are not saved by having perfect doctrine, but are exhorted by Paul to watch our doctrine carefully. He did not distain sound doctrine, which he taught in all circumstances that he preached and established church communities. He followed up on these communities with visits and letters to ensure that their doctrinal positions were correct and corrected where they were not in line with the truth. He obviously didn't believe that these believers could learn all they needed to learn from the Spirit on their own.
I do hope to continue exchanging our thoughts on this site.
Both answers are correct in ways
Exodus 34:6-7, . Psalm 103:1-22, 2 Peter 3:9, Proverbs 3:11-18
Jesus came to visibly show what it means for God to be ALL in ALL, Christ was the first.
Christ is the body ( Ephesians 4:4)(a vessel) that holds ALL GOD IS; therefore Christ did nothing of himself, because a BODY can DO NOTHING of itself, It's the LIFE in the BODY that does the work. ( John 5:19)( John 5:30)( John 8:28).
Philippians 2:13 For it is God (the LIFE) which worketh in you (in the body, the vessel, even in Christ) TO WILL and TO DO his (the Father's) good pleasure.
We are going to be CONFORMED to the likeness of Christ. We are the pot (the body, the vessel) he is the potter.
He is bring his BODY (you and I) to TRUTH. WE do NOTHING OURSELVES ( John 15:5).
When you are BORN of TRUTH, ALL that you are doing is not you THE BODY doing it, but God THE LIFE in you doing the work.
1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God (TRUTH) doth not COMMIT SIN: for his SEED (CHRIST IN YOU)( Colossians 1:27) remaineth in him (you ARE DEAD (in trespasses) he GAVE you HIS LIFE, you are now the body that HOLDS ALL GOD IS): and he (the one who died to TRUTH), cannot sin, because he is born of TRUTH.
And the TRUTH is:
Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (THE LIFE) which worketh in you (HIS BODY) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.
God grace us with eyes to see, God bless you.
I noticed some comments posted that sound like they are only a breath away from denying the Lord. God's Word and 2 Peter 2:1 is for them. Luke 12:5. 1 Timothy 6:12.
Some sound upset that God demands obedience, and some feel entitled to do what they want as if there's no ramifications. John 14:21, John 14:15, James 1:22, Proverbs 16:18.
shall we uplift the poor?
Remember age of Grace, its the love grace mercy peace and power that leads guides and protects us.
Man believes salvation is his choice and not God's choice, contradicting scriptures. Man TEACHES this.
John 15:16 You have not chosen me but I have chosen you, and ordained you ..... Man does not TEACH this.
1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that God sent the Son to be Saviour of the world. Man TEACHES the SON is going to fail saving the world because it's man's choice and not God's Choice. Man TEACHES this. ( Revelation 2:24)
1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the SAVIOUR OF ALL MEN (even those that don't believe in this AGE ( Romans 9:18-21), specially those that believe (in the AGE).
1 Timothy 4:11 These things (saviour of all men) COMMAND AND TEACH. Many are called (to teach this) FEW are chosen.
Man TEACHES that those who don't CHOOSE Christ are going to HELL. Man TEACHES this. These TEACHINGS contradict all the above scriptures. ( Revelation 12:9).
Thy KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE.
Psalms 22:27 ALL the ENDS of the WORLD shall remember and TURN unto the LORD: and ALL the kindreds of the nation shall WORSHIP before thee.
Revelation 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that setteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
Man not only does man NOT teach this, they don't BELIEVE this is TRUE. ( Revelation 12:9)
1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things have been subdued unto him. then shall the son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be ALL IN ALL.
Man does not TEACH this nor even believe it ( Revelation 12:9).
However, Jesus did come in the People experienced Him with their five senses. He used real life, five sense explanations to highlight spiritual truths. I agree that we are to learn spiritual truth through the Spirit. I also believe that God gave us our physical five sense existence to experience him and He is plainly known through what he has made.) Without the work of the Holy Spirit, none of us can come to God for salvation. But it is through hearing the gospel that we believe. We do not come to the knowledge of the gospel simply by inner intuition.
I understand that parables are not to be taken literally, they point to a real life application of the allegory to our lives.
Titus 1:6-9
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
1 Corinthians 11:1-3
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1 Corinthians 14:36-38,40
36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
1 Timothy 3:1-5
1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Titus 1:6-7
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
