Mishael Hi won't bother going there totally unscriptural got more inspiring things to think about. A friend of mine had a dream that she swore was God talking to her about something that was going to happen in her life and that what she had physically going on would be healed very soon her heart. That was 5 months ago since then she had to have heart surgery that is not being healed in the gospels when jesus Christ healed we read immediately no messing around. So when it comes to dreams or vision if it does not line up with scripture and happen verbatim be very aware of the source! We wrestle not against flesh and blood.

Chris I don't see that scripturally Abraham told the truth he just didn't tell all that he knew which is wisdom in Genesis 20:12 and yet indeed she is my sister she is the daughter of my father but not the daughter of my mother and she became my wife.
  • David - In Reply on Genesis 20 - 4 years ago
Hi Gigi Just an additional point Sarah was not only Abrahams wife but also sister Genesis 20:12 so it wasn't an agreement but she was both, also as you have shared when you look at abraham's walk with God many times God told Him what to do and with lot we see an example of how men of God fight for other people. It's interesting that when Abraham and lot separated lot didn't ask God which direction to go in also in chapter 13:14 God told Abraham that basically because you believe I'm backing you no matter where you go. Sounds like the same promise we have as Christians when we are walking in obedience to the spirit.

I've always understood this account by focussing on verse 11, "And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake." It seemed that since Abraham moved to Gerar, maybe for better pastures for his livestock, he may have feared for his life since Sarah was "fair to look upon". It would have been common then for the rulers to pick off any woman they desired & if they were married, to bump off the husband so they would be free to marry. Doesn't King David's lust for Bathsheba ring bells here? So Abraham worked on it & decided that since she is my half-sister, then that's what she will be for now.

This same fear arose earlier in Genesis 12:9-20 with Abraham's encounter in Egypt with the Pharaoh. So he used this 'deception' to pass Sarah off as his sister, so that his life might be spared. Very noble of him, would you say?!! But as you stated, Abraham wasn't judged for this deception, which was in fact a half-truth.

It had to be after because he is forced to walk to and fro upon the earth, not float around in space (the darkness/nothingness) I am guessing about the exact time but i would think after Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden but before Cain killed Able, he was there to whisper that jealousy into Cain's heart.

THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRT

    Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The Bible says if we are alive when the "caught up in the clouds"Happens, we will receive our resurrection bodies that never know sickness, and look like we did when we were in our 30's. Except for little kids. Somebody who had a NDE (near death experience) said that. I'm open to anything (I'm 70)
  • Hell is bad. Don't go There. - In Reply - 4 years ago
In Matthew 13:42, Jesus says: "And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." HELL IS FOREVER. SzoAll who enter hell; abandon all hope! The horror of hell; for even one second is unbearable but FOREVER!

The Hebrew Bible (or Old Testament) uses the word Sheol to describe the realm of the dead. Sometimes described as a pit and imagined to be a literal place under the earth, Sheol is where the dead - all of them, good and bad - go when they die.

Is hell for all eternity? The Christian Bible clearly states that hell is eternal punishment. There are several other phrases that the Bible uses to describe this place of eternal torture including darkness, weeping, torment, anguish, and most importantly, eternal separation from God.

I have a testimony of just before I took the Lords hand to save me: He let me see hell. Isaiah 14

It was twisted roots, so dense you can't move. I heard screams, or it might've been me screaming. I grabbed the Lords hand and the vision stopped.

That scripture in Isaiah says the same thing but it's talking about Satan. Don't go there. The most wonderful, exciting thing can happen instead. You get to meet Jesus if you choose him. He prays for all Saints (that's you), every day. If you Hillary for help, he's right there.

There's a link out on the red page with a prayer on it. You can pray to the Lord yourself.

Come back to this room and ask us anything you need to know quick ok? I have the best sense of humor. God saw what he was getting when he chose me :D

Thank you GiGi for sharing those very intimate matters. Maybe, there's a lot we don't understand & we just have to be there to pray, guide & counsel, as we're led or allowed to. May the Lord minister in & through you as you have opportunity to meet with your sisters. The Lord can & does move in 'mysterious ways' & we must but trust Him for 'His wonders to perform'.

  • Chris - In Reply on Joshua 5 - 4 years ago
Hello again brother Prasanth. This verse can seem confusing as one easily assumes that Joshua fell to the ground & worshipped the Captain of the Lord's hosts.

Now this is the way I understand it (& by no means it will gain majority agreement). Looking at the Hebrew of this verse, it would appear that both words, 'worship' & 'bow down' would apply here. Some translations, as the KJV, show it as 'worship', while others use 'bow down'. Ordinarily, this could be a problem as it implies two quite different meanings. But if we understand that the outward form of greeting to an aged or honourable person in those days was a 'bending over' (as one would do for royalty), we may appreciate this better. However, verse 14 states that "Joshua fell on his face to the earth" before the Captain of the Lord's hosts, which could give it a further expansion on the 'bowing down' - it was not just a bending over, but a falling prostrate before this angelic presence. So did Joshua worship this angel or did he fall before him giving him honour due to him, as one coming from God's Presence? And this presence is also seen in the angel's command for Joshua to remove his sandals for the ground was now holy. Why? It wasn't holy ground before this time or else Joshua would have shown more care. Maybe because the angel was present & came representing the Almighty.

Another interpretation that is often given, is that this event was a Christophany; i.e. the Angel of the Lord was a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ. I think many would adhere to this understanding, though I remain cautious because of other Scriptures of the pre-incarnate Jesus, as God's Word. Not saying that's not impossible, but I would need more proofs. Trust this helps you.

I've been listening to old speeches by Obama and John Kerry. I am so sorry before a righteous God for being clueless to the abuses spoken to Jews everywhere. I don't know how God can stand it!!

Absolutely NO ONE knows how the abandoning of 85 billion in weapons from Afghanistan is going to play out. US politics did this knowingly. Biden first refused to help Israel with more Iron Dome ammo. Trump supported Israel totally.

If you look at a map of Israel and Palestinian lands, you'll see the Palestinians have most of it. In his speeches Obama addresses Israel as opposing poor helpless Palestinians barely hanging on like a thread against the cruel Israelis. Them vs Israel. They never once mention the Abrahamic Covenant of THE LAND that belongs to Israel by DEED. Obama and Kerry step right over it.

The Palestinians will overcome differences to fire upon Israel.

If we don't get informed and start praying for the peace of JERUSALEM, we'll be in disfavor as well.

Israel needs THE CHURCH. They are building the 3rd Temple now. I saw a prophesy that said Israel will let go of the West Bank in exchange for total control of the Temple Mount so they can perform sacrifices again. Nothing is said about TWO STATE.

This is so messed up Watch those old Obama speeches in Jerusalem (4 yrs, 8 yrs and 12 years back)

We need to read it with the book of Daniel. See, we are The Elect Now. As soon as we are caught up, the Election Passes back upon Israel.

Let us pray for God to blind Israel's enemies while they are rebuilding the Temple. If your church has intercessors, ask them to protect Israel.

All this stuff with China is a smoke screen. USA is making deals with them. All this energy crisis stuff is diversion. The green deal is a gigantic betrayal to us!! Refuse it!

I saw in a vision. Room dark. Faces in shadow. One appears and it was Obama's face. His father was Palestinian. Palestinian children are the fathers religion.

I noticed in the text that Abraham and Sarah had made an agreement for her to be called Abraham's sister since they first left Ur or Haran when God called them to go to a new place to live. I doubt that their visit to Egypt and this incident with Abimelech were the only times they had used this strategy. Perhaps God had told Abraham to do this. Abraham was called God's friend and so talked far more than recorded in Scripture. We do not know all of the content of conversations they had. Since God blessed Abraham after both of these encounters instead of disciplining him, I think God wanted Abraham and Sarah to say this to leaders they encounter. There was a reason God made Sarah so beautiful and desirable even in to her older years.

Praise the Lord for His righteousness and mercies. If we repent and turn from our evil ways the Lord will bless us in HIs grace and love. Just as Manasseh repented from his evil ways, God brought him back to Jerusalem.

Bless LORD our country and our leadership. Help them to find the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. May they read the Bible and have the mind of Christ, and lead our country in a manner that the people will rejoice and we glorify you in our walk as believers.

Thank you Lord. November 4, 2021

I have two urgent matters in my life that needs prayer.

    1. I am in love with a beautiful, born again, spiritually mature woman who also is a very good friend of mine, I have told her that I have more than friendship feelings for her recently, but it seems that she might not feel the same, although she did not say so. Please pray that I will know God's will in this matter and stay in His peace even should I have to move on, but still be her friend only. This is obviously the difficult part that I need prayer for. Alternatively, if she does feel the same about me that she will get bold enough to tell me so, no matter her circumstances or mine.

Secondly, I need urgent prayer for my business and ministry finances as October was a very bad month and I will need miracle transactions to make up for it as well as increasing my finances as it should be.

Traci, I can't think of any reason why covering your face should bring dishonour to God. Some people need to do so (& not referring to some Muslim women who do); especially if a person's skin suffers under sunlight (Xeroderma pigmentosum) or some other medical problem on the face that requires a covering.

Hello Leo. The emotional & spiritual conflict that Abraham would have gone through, from the time the command was given to the raising of the knife against his son, would have been so real & devastating. But Abraham knew his God. The God Who would provide Isaac as the "heir of promise" ( Genesis 15:4), now fulfilled that promise, & had something special planned that cannot disannul His Word. Abraham didn't know how, he only knew this God & that God's Promise would never fail.

If Satan was evident, it would have been sinful flesh working in Abraham's heart & mind to somehow avoid or change this 'awful' plan. It would have been Satan's delight to see Abraham cower down & refuse. But it was Abraham's singular focus to obey his God no matter what was asked of him (he might have even recalled the Lord's Directive to leave the Ur of the Chaldees & then Haran, not knowing what lay ahead). The provision of the ram in place of Isaac is clearly a picture of God providing His Sacrifice in our place. God could have allowed Isaac to lose his life through sacrifice & then raised up another. But the provision of the ram shows that each life is precious to God & there should never be an occasion for a life to die & face eternal judgement - that the ram was Isaac's substitute in death as the Lord Jesus is ours, hence providing the means for God to forgive us, as the Just takes on the punishment of the unjust.

Hello Consuelo. It is admirable that your son desired to serve his country in the Marines. He, as the other young men with him, would have been well tested medically pre-enlistment, so on that score, his body & mind should be able to take the rigors of the high intensity training. The exercise program there will also ensure that his body is built up to be able to be pushed to its limits.

It should be our prayer though, that your son will always stay focussed on his Lord & Saviour, the One to Whom he's given his heart & life. He will be under many pressures, not just physically & mentally, but also spiritually, to conform to the pattern of the lives around him. This too will take much discipline, that he both gets on well with his team, but also sets time aside to read the Word & prayer. Some may mock him, others will appreciate his singular trust & dependence on the Lord. But he needs to stay true to God & always count on Him for everything he experiences - good & bad. Your prayers are most important, as also your encouragement, particularly when he expresses any discouragement or pain. He should seek out other believers there, to join with them in fellowship & around the Word and usually there will be a chaplain on base to offer some spiritual guidance.

I just share this to encourage you & to be able to advise him. I learned the hard way, falling into sin & going far away from God. But God never left me & waited patiently for the day (it took eight years) when I would once again bend my knee to Him & cry out in repentance because of the volume of my sins. Dear Lord God, please watch over this young lad's soul & his life - reveal Yourself always to Him in whatever situation he might find himself in - that his delight & hope might always rest in you. Amen.

Hello Wayne. There are various applications for the use of 'Lord' in the Bible. When you see it capitalized (LORD) as in Genesis 2:4, it conveys to us the meaning, that only Almighty God is referred to here. The Jewish use of Jehovah (YHWH, which is the tetragrammaton of Yahweh), signifies that God, the Eternal, Self-Existent One is spoken of. Of course, Jews won't write or speak this Name, lest they do so incorrectly & offend God. So, in English, you may see it written as G_d, or HaShem (= the Name).

Then you will see the words 'Lord' or 'lord' in the Bible. For 'Lord': the word is 'Adonai', which is also the Name attributed to God & this means, 'master, lord, sovereign'. And sometimes, you can see both of the above together, as in Genesis 15:2: "And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me...", where Lord is not capitalized but God is.

And 'lord' is also seen, as in Genesis 31:35 from the root, 'adoni', used mainly with mankind. And this word can mean: master, lord, sir, even husband, in an older usage.

Hope this helps as you see these words being used throughout Scriptures - and yet, other names have been applied to God, especially compound names which describe the Character or Activity of God.
