Thank you for your reply. Some timelines have Noah alive for about 65 years during Abraham's life and some have him dying before. Shem, it seems, outlived Abraham into Jacob's day. Sad that the Word does not record more about this if there was significant interactions between Abraham and kin, and Shem and his kin. Perhaps Shem and his kin remained in the area around the ark, since Noah was a farmer, but some of his descendants migrated southward to Mesopotamia. I doubt that Shem lived in the area of Ur due to the idolatry of the Chaldeans, but perhaps he may have ventured to Haran.

I do not think that Shem was Melchezideck due to what is said in Hebrews about shem having no descendency from parents, but hinted about His eternality. Be blessed by your studies of God's Word and through sincere discussions about matters in the text, like we are having. It is helpful.

Hi Ronald What I have read about melchisedec in the description what I see is God spoke priest into being and why not that's why he's God and that's why He knew who Abram was and who called Abram out.

    Greetings Chris.

Thanks for your perspective. I have wondered what the state of the landscape appeared when Noah disembarked from the ark. You may be right. With God nothing is impossible and He blessed Noah, so He may have had the area around Noah be already habitable or perhaps the whole world. I just think that it may have been likely that the landscape was stark and fairly void of vegetation to drive home the point of how serious and grave the situation was among mankind before the flood and how thorough God's judgement can be. Thanks for reminding me about the time of year being spring according the the Jewish calendar. They most likely had some food still stored in the ark to get them through the growing season or God simply provided for them like the Israelites in the desert wanderings.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your viewpoint. I just happen to believe that God is the one to determine when the world is filled to the point to fulfill His will in His command, not us. God never promised that everyone would be housed or well fed or safe from harm in the world. Deaths from hunger, disease, war, natural disasters, etc. are the result of the world still being under the curse of death from Genesis 3.

My sister in law is from Africa and she has given me a view into life there in her country. Because of tribalism, people will help those of their own tribe , but not those of other tribes. Many children are orphaned due to AIDS and death from other diseases. These children are taken in for the night by members of their village or tribe, but put back out onto the streets during the day. Many countries have surpluses of foods, but the food isn't distributed due to politics, laws, or corruption at the point of delivery if sent to needy areas of our world. This is all a result of sin, not overpopulation.

We may be getting close to the "filled" point in this generation. Revelation speaks of a 1/3 of the world's population dying as a result of one of the "bowls" being poured out. We should remain awake and watchful, as Jesus said.

I believe it is the "wisdom of the world" that sounds the alarm about overpopulation for the past 50 years or so. As Christians, I believe we should know God's will by knowing what He has declared in His Word and acting according to His will, not by what the world's "geniuses" scream about such matters.

The downfall in Genesis God created man in His Image in the beginning Gods Image is Spirit I.E. John 4:24 not flesh and blood he formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living soul. The teaching the seeds of death were put in man is false, Gods spirit which is life giving and life energizing is what Adam and Eve lost their spiritual connection with God for disobedience. That's why they became full of fear and no longer had soundness of mind. That's what is stated in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us fear but power and love and sound mind. In Genesis after the fall God lovingly had to clothe them and prepare them for the world they had to face because of their disobedience. Eve when she bare Cain thought she bore a child from God but in contrast became the first murderer, he wasn't born that way he became that way. When you look up the descendants of cains line or men who as it says in Jude verse 11 the ones who went the way of cain these are men who got spiritually born of the wicked one not by physical seed it is spiritual, that is why in John 8:44 Jesus Christ said to these spiritually corrupt men ye are of your father the devil it is not a physical birth it is a spiritual birth. That's also why he said you will die in your sin they are unredeemable. In the old testament they were men of belial or worthless men or men of the earth. This is all part of our spiritual battle. Some will disagree with this and that's there privilege. Just keep something in mind everything the true God has done the enemy tries to duplicate.

    GiGi,

Loving your posts, there is much we can see that relates to us today. What is amazing there were 1656 years from the creation of Adam to the flood and only 4 chapters of Genesis from Adam and Eve leaving the garden until Noah went into the ark. Like you said many stories about Ham seeing his father naked and the curse on Hams son Canaan. It may be; God had blessed Noah and his sons and Noah could not curse what God had blessed.

We see later the land promised to Israel was Canaan. And today Israel has just a small portion of the land God promised Abraham. We know that will be fixed in the future. Another amazing thing is the time after the flood I feel the earth was renewed, remember the little dove brought back to Noah an olive leaf that was plucked off a tree.

I know we think what this earth would look like after a worldwide flood all the fertile land covered in mud muck and debris it would be unlivable. If God can bring the waters together into this sphere and cause the land to appear and be covered with grass, herbs, and fruit trees in a 24-hour time, He can restore the earth for Noah and all the animals to start over. If the seasons were the same the second month when they came out of the ark it would be springtime.

Noah was born 1056 years from the creation of Adam and he died 950 years old, that would have him alive when Abram was born 1948 years from the creation of Adam and Noah lived 58 years after Abram was born, he saw 9 generations, wow. It seems incredible it was only 292 years from the flood when Abraham was born.

Terah took Abram, Sarai, and Lot to Haran and when God called Abram to get out, Abram was only 75 years old. The earth was divided in the days of Peleg that would be between 1757 when he was born and 1996 from the creation of Adam when he died, makes you wonder who knew who, Shem was still living when Jacob was born, some say he was Melchizedek but I don't know about that.

    God bless you,

Today, I'm meditating and praying that God's Holy Spirit will provide for understanding of this verse spoken by Paul:

    Philippians 2:12

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

So far, the way I read and understand it: Paul is asking us to "take action", and this seems to contradict the large and loud crowd that continues to loudly express: " Faith+Grace and nothing else."

    God Bless.

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them..

    Amos 7:14-15

I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel..

    Amos 3:8

The Lion has roared, who will not fear?

    Amos 4:12

    Hi GiGi,

Enjoy reading all of your posts associated with Noah. I just wanted to note something you stated regarding populating this world.

You said: "The world does not advocate following God's command to be fruitful and multiply."

    Do you know these statistics?

This year, 36 million people will die from starvation. Essentially, that equates to a person dying of hunger every second of the year. Of these 36 million inhabitants, children are especially vulnerable. Every minute, 12 children under the age of five will die of hunger. This fact represents a death every five seconds.

The question itself of hunger, not just hunger-related deaths, is just as equally an important issue. The Oxford English Dictionary defines hunger as the want or scarcity of food in a country. The current world population is more than seven billion, and 795 million people, or one in every nine people, suffer from hunger. Almost all of these people are living in developing countries. Countries in Asia suffer from this problem more than any other region, with 525 million people suffering. Sub-Saharan African countries follow with a combined 214 million.

The problem is not multiplying.we are not being fruitful enough to figure out how to house and feed them all!

    God Bless.

This Isaiah 11 KJV has been on my mind all morning long , I know this is prophetic of the 2 nd coming . All the animals are humanity and the Child that leads them is the H.G. That Child of PROMISE, That mountain he is leading them to is the Kingdom of God. Hebrews 12 : 22 you are come unto mount Sion the city of the living God,That heavenly Jerusalem ( the kIngdom of God ) . 27 times in the O.T. THE Prophets saw the world in travail and birth pains. i 'm just a messenger trying to tell ya there is a baby Christ in your near future . She brought forth a manchild that is gonna rule all nations . Unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child . Which is the H.G. the Child of PROMISE . When Isaiah saw the Kingdom coming he says unto us a Child is born unto us a Son is given. GBU

Chaos verses or order This is what I read in Genesis between 1:1 and 1:2 God is a God of order and light and love when Lucifer was thrown out of heaven took 1/3 of messengers with Him first thing he did was throw into chaos Gods creation. We read starting at 1:3 how God set it back in order I also believe there was Life here before adam and eve because in Genesis 1:28 God tells them be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. The only thing left from 1:1 to 1:3 are remains of a time of chaos and disorder man really doesn't know the life that was there but it wasn't what God intended.

Comment on Genesis Seven It an interesting detail that after the animals and noahs family were on the ark that God made the point the he God closed the ark. I believe the reason was he was going to make sure that when Noahs family heard the the cries of the unbelievers that they wouldn't be moved emotionally and had pity an opened the door also God knew the others were so wicked they would have killed Noahs family.

Thank you Tony for your further comments. Just taking up your question now on Revelation 20:10, which I neglected to do earlier for lack of comment space.

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

Noting your brief comment on this & what I can see of the word "vasanistirio" or, "basanizo", it speaks of 'torment, torture, examining by torture'. However, you've written, "The English robs God of His mercy and goodness in this last act with the lost." I assume you mean the English usage of the Greek word, so I would be intrigued what this word means to you, in line with the Revelation verse.

What a marvellous sight that must have been for Noah & his family: to see a rainbow for the first time & God's eternal reminder that the Earth would no longer be destroyed by such a flood. Scientists of course, can explain it away with visible white light consisting of seven colours & what we see is that refraction of that light through water droplets. As true as that might be, we know that a bow had never appeared before the Flood & did so as the sun finally peeked through the heavy clouds after that deluge. As well, that God can even use natural occurrences we might even see today, as manifestations of His Judgements of tomorrow - judgements that will be capable of utter destruction & death.

Yes, the DNA still exists in our corporate gene pool. We just don't know how it got there after the flood if Noah and his sons were unmixed. Don't know if all wives were unmixed though.

We are building up today. Look at all of the sky scrapers (the word describes the tower of Babel) all over the world. But even more, we are going into space. I don't think God ever wanted us to do that. He said earth was made to be inhabited by man, but never space.
