    Brother Spencer,

I suppose those two verses can be tied in. Verse 21 says a man therefore purge, and that's the word cleanse. If a man cleanse himself from these things, that is, these iniquities, he shall be a vessel for honor,

Three things: Having been sanctified, and that's the word set apart. When we receive Christ, He places His Spirit in us and sets us apart for His purposes. And meet, or more literally useful, for the master. And thirdly: prepared unto every good work. And the word good is Agathos which has to do with spiritual good. This type of good is produced by God's Spirit. Man cannot produce Agathos.

The one who comes for cleansing and confessing his/her sins, will be a vessel of honor, set apart by God for His use, and prepared for every good work that God has for them.

I kind of look at it as coming to Christ not only as an empty vessel, but a broken one needing to be mended (KATARTIDZO). It is Christ who cleanses us, sets us apart for His purposes, and continues to mend us each and every day. We just need to confess to Him that we are broken and submit to His mending process!

    Brother Jesse

I'm not sure if empty vessels is as fitting as Paul put it here in

2 Timothy 2:20-21. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

    God bless.

Please pray to the Lord Jesus Christ to help the rift between myself and sister. Her heart is so closed and seems like stone I imagine she's suffering from Guilt due to continually ignoring her mum's request to visit home for over 6 years, while I was left to care for mum who had Vascular Dementia. She's also jealous because I had the strength to care for mum which was only possible because God was with us. Everyday I asked the Lord to keep my body and mind healthy and strong so I could care for mum - and he did. Mum died in my arms at home in May. I arranged the funeral and it felt a celebration of mum's life with help from a few good friends - I sang whilst my sister scowled during her brief appearance. I pray for protection from her spiteful resentfulness as I am so tired now and worry about my own health.

After careful review of what was discussed I noticed that spiritual Faith that which we got when born again started on the day of pentecost the Faith of Jesus Christ. I also saw that the word faith is pistis and by context was also translated believing in the gospels, so in the Gospels it was not possible to have the faith of Jesus Christ because it was not available until after pentecost. I also noticed faithful being steadfast which is also tied into believing action, good stuff thanks for input. God Bless

Hi Donna Charpie Because God is all love and waited until His only begotten son Gospel of John 3:16+17 notice 17 [For God sent not His son to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.] could provide the way for God to have the family he always wanted. People to love Him by freedom of will and do His Word. What you said will take place at the very end. I'm sure more will be said. God Bless

    Brother Spencer,

Yes, knowing that faith is produced by God's Spirit, it definitely helps in understanding that faith without works is dead. I'm not sure if this will make sense, but for myself, I don't look at faith as being a gift that is given to me. I look at it as I've been given the gift of God's Spirit. God's Spirit is the only gift we are promised when we receive Christ as our Savior. Everything else we call "gifts" are just manifestations of His Spirit.

It is His Spirit that has the capacity to produce spiritual faith in me. I can't produce that. I'm not trying to complicate things. That is just the way I see it in my own life. I have to keep in mind that if I am being persuaded by His Spirit to do something, it is Him doing it, not me. In other words, I cannot take any credit for anything I do for Christ if it is His Spirit leading me to do it!

But yes, faith without works is dead. A person who has the Spirit of Christ in them, there will always be activity. It is impossible for a person to have the creator of the entire universe living inside of them, and there be no activity. So if a person says they have faith, and there's no activity, it is a dead faith!

There are people who pretend to be decent, and behind closed doors they commit prosecutable felonies--dangerous crimes against people who can do nothing back. They prey on their children--no matter how tiny or how old, they prey on their elderly parents as well. GOD sees all their wickedness, and if any of their victims try to get out of such abusive situations, GOD may will not to help their victims. These thrown away people may be the "trash" that society sees on the street. The abusers/monsters, may be the PTA dad, or the stat at home mother, always available to swoop in and "rescue" her sick daughter...even if she caused her sickness (the mother, that is) herself. The victims may speak out, but because the abusers build up their name in "public" people are quick to dismiss "oh your mother loves you!" even if they've never even MET the victim's mother. I see the pain, the abandonment, the further degredation by society once these children grow up to become "losers." They may never brake Man's law but they may be poor, or crippled, or bare physical damage to their appearance caused by their abusers, and seen as "less than," or garbage by society. They may be kind, honest, and sane but their clear lack may cause fear in the eyes of those GOD has not so cursed. These people need prayer to believe that the Holy Bible is true, when all of their years and decades of prayer, fasting and trying to walk as Abraham, Job, Daniel, Noah, etc don't move the LORD to seem to care, or "be." I once asked a woman who was poor and suffered from MS, if she believed in GOD, or Christianity. She seemed to want to hide her doubts from me, but I could understand why she would not, as cold as it was that November night. I do not know if the GOD of the Holy Bible is correct...if the Holy Bible is correct. I believe in a Brilliant Creator GOD, please pray that the Almighty TRUE GOD will PLEASE speak to me/tell me who He is NOW, please. I hope in Christ, but much abuse has rendered doubt

Hi There is no merit given to anyone by skin color. Abel and Cain I'm sure was the same skin color, Perhaps Noah and Nimrod.

    Also Paul, Peter, and Judas.

The outward appearance of a man is not what commend you to God,

This tabernacle of flesh and blood we have here no matter what color has nothing to offer to the Lord by way of appearance.

This is what our Sinful flesh covets for, "GLORY"

This is how Satan fell and why Cain killed Abel.

The jews was set apart and not because of skin color or any other reason from their side of the engagement. THEY WAS A STIFF NECK PEOPLE LIKE the rest of the world. By them God showed the Lord what the tru and living God is like compared to the many idols that the world worshipped. He chastened them like a father to them.

And he showed the world that an outward religion with commandments and ordinances can't make one Perfect. And they was in need of a savior. All of this is not because of their color.

And God is not through with Israel.

    Note:

Ezekiel 36:22-23. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I DO NOT THIS FOR YOUR SAKES, O HOUSE OF ISRAEL, BUT FOR MINE HOLY NAME'S SAKE, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

AND I WILL SANCTIFY MY GREAT NAME, WHICH WAS PROFANE AMONG THE HEATHEN, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; AND THE HEATHEN SHALL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD, saith the Lord GOD, WHEN I SHALL BE SANCTIFIED IN YOU BEFORE THEIR EYES.

And God gave him the covenant of circumcision: But true circumcision is circumcision of the heart.

The only virtue there is, is through the Holyspirit not the color of man.

    God bless.

    Hey Scott,

Passover is on the 14th of Nisan; it is a preparation day for the feast of unleavened bread, which is the 15th through the 21st. The first day of this feast is a holy convocation (Sabbath) the only work you can do is to eat. Jesus was crucified on Passover day and died around 3 PM. They had to get Him in the tomb before sundown which would be the first day of the feast a Sabbath day.

Many choose Wednesday for that day but if Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and put in the tomb before sundown, the first day of the feast would be on Thursday a Sabbath day. That would leave Friday a preparation day for the weekly Sabbath on Saturday. The Mary's and all the disciples could have gone to the tomb on Friday with the spices and anoint Jesus' body because there were no restrictions on Friday.

If the day Jesus was crucified was Thursday, Friday would be the first day of the feast, a Sabbath as S Spencer said a high day, and Saturday was the weekly Sabbath. Two Sabbaths in a row puts Sunday which starts sundown Saturday the first chance they could go to the tomb.

The crucifixion on Thursday gives three days and three nights. Thursday/ Day, Friday/Night and Day, Saturday/Night and Day, Sunday/Night, Jesus resurrected before sunrise on Feast of Firstfruits which He was the First Fruits of those who slept.

What is kind of confusing the Passover lambs are killed on the 14th Passover day and are eaten the night of the 15th the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread?

    ( Exodus 12:3-11) ( Exodus 12:29-33) ( Leviticus 23:5) ( Numbers 33:1-3) ( Deuteronomy 16:1-8)

Oh, by the way, the word even, is anytime afternoon when the sun starts going down until sundown which starts a new day.

    God bless,

    Sacha,

Religion is a free pass for otherwise rational people to believe their faith, according to their understanding. Are we better off never telling a soul what we know is the truth?
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Thanks and Amen Brother Jesse!!

With that lesson I believe we can better understand James 2:14-26.

James 2:20 (KJV) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James is saying you are persuaded to work by the gift of faith given to you.

    Amen!

Jesse That is a bit confusing to me because it says in Galatians 3:22-25 it appears to say that spiritual faith came with Jesus christ.
  • Dianne - In Reply - 4 years ago
Scott Two things to consider the day of pentecost ended the law and began the age of Grace we live in,Gods Idea of being worshipped was always 24-7 or all day. If you look at Colossians 2:16-22 verse 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of an holy day or of the new moon or of the sabbath days. Paul is talking about this because in that culture people worshipped the moon, sun, etc. His point is walking in Christ spiritually is 24-7 also in the first century Church they went from house to house which is still practiced today. So essentially everyday is sunday for us. The Church is the Spirit filled Body of Christ not Brick and mortar made by man. P.S. Look up origin of days of our week very educational. God Bless

    George,

Technically, faith has always been in existence. The bible tells us in Galatians 5:22 that faith is a fruit of God's Spirit. In other words, a human being cannot produce spiritual faith. There are two types of faith, human faith which every human being has, and then there's faith that the bible speaks of which can only produced by God's Spirit. in our own human effort, we cannot produce spiritual faith. I say that faith has always been in existence because I believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit.

The word faith in the bible comes from the word PEITHO, and it literally means persuasion. It is the presence and activity of God's Spirit in a believer that persuades them to do the things of the Lord. That's what faith is, persuasion! You can ask 10 people to describe faith and what it means, and you will probably get 10 different answers. But if we understand that faith means persuasion, and we say we have faith, what we are saying is that we are under the persuasion (Faith) of God's Spirit. When He persuades us to do something, that's faith!

In Romans Chapter 4, we see Abraham and Sarah were past the age of bearing children, but God made a promise to Abraham and Abraham was persuaded that God would keep His promise as we see in Romans 4:21.

That's what faith is. It's believing God, that if He says it in His word, that He's going to use us as His people, He is perfectly capable and has the ability to do it. We believe God because it is His Spirit in us that persuades us to believe. Faith is not me doing it. That's works. If it's in my own human effort, that's religion and it's works.

If we keep in mind that faith literally means persuasion, once we take that approach, all the frustration of trying get our walk with the Lord right will fade away. The more we trust the Lord to do it (Faith/Persuasion), the better off we will be. When we fully trust in the Lord, God's Spirit moves in a great way!
