    Numbers 23.19

Is very much similar to the hidden verse .

God says he is not a man .

And God is spirit and never changes as well .

These verses could be a theological problem to some no doubt . But hiding verses is the same as removing them in my opinion.

Dianne it should be noted that in Romans 7 Paul's mind in conflict with his flesh is before he is converted. If you are inclined to think otherwise I would advise you to consider the opposite side of the position to the one you have taken, there is plenty of this to be found on the web.

    Wesley's Notes for 2 Thessalonians 2:8

And then - When every prince and power that restrains is taken away. Will that wicked one - Emphatically so called, be revealed. Whom the Lord will soon consume with the spirit of his mouth - His immediate power. And destroy - With the very first appearance of his glory.

    People's Bible Notes for 2 Thessalonians 2:8

2Th 2:8 Then shall that Wicked be revealed. After the hindering power is removed. Whom the Lord shall consume. The Wicked power will be destroyed by the Lord's coming, and will continue to exist, possibly, until that event.

Indeed Lighton, a verse with those words would be difficult to find. The only ones that could come a little close are found in: Numbers 23:19 (where the word 'repent', would be 'a change of mind or relent'); 1 Samuel 15:29 (the same Hebrew word is used here as well); Isaiah 49:15 (where the "woman" signifies humankind (of the flesh) who might even forget their nursing children, but God would never). I realize that none of these fit perfectly to what you're seeking - maybe you'll get some other suggestions.

Because God is spirit. So is the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the son of man. He is all God, and all man. Not 1/2 and 1/2.

If satan is a very bad devil, would he twist a scripture to confuse several people? Plus there are many translations of the KJV to enhance study, like the Living Bible, NIV, etc.

I've never had trouble finding a verse, if I will pause and ask the Holy Spirit to help me. Then I wait for His answer. If no answer comes, it's always been because there isn't an answer.

If it was me, I would lay that search aside and move on to something I can find.

This verse you describe sort of troubles me. The God that I know simply would not pose that challenge to His children.

Perhaps, Chris knows of this verse? I hope you are able to move along to something else while you are waiting on God.

    Blessings, Mishael

My prayer is regarding a new job that I start next week. I spoke with my manager & I'm not going to be working as many shifts as I had previously thought. Thank you God for helping me obtain this job. I do need to find a 2nd part time job in order to pay my bills. The company I am working for has other facilities that are close to my house & if it's your will, I hope I can obtain a 2nd part time job at one of those facilities. I also want to pray for my friend Kenneth: his health & cast out evil spirits in his life. Surround him w/believers so he can find salvation & have a relationship w/You.

12:30-32 What is specifically unforgiveable in this world and the world to come? Also, what about people who didn't know they or rather were not aware of the gravity of their sins? Even while on the cross Jesus pleaded with God to forgive them for they not know what they do..MAYBE he was speaking about the ignorance that shouldn't be ignored. Then again it IS God and he knows the hearts of man as does Jesus. So...

    Hi Glenn,

Have you ever played the telephone game where a message keeps being repeated until it becomes something else? Then people believe the something else so strongly they don't even believe you when you tell them the original message.

I think the phrase absent from body, present with the Lord is a good example of that. Because if you actually read the verse, Paul did not say what people assume he said.

Paul in 2 Cor 5:8 says he would "rather" be "absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." He simply stated his preference.

    Let's then ask:

Did Paul truly say that in 100% of all cases of people dying they will instantly be with the Lord in heaven?

I certainly didn't interpret that from what Paul said, but yet, people do repeat this regularly. Being with the Lord doesn't automatically mean being in heaven either. Also, to believe this you have to ignore the other verses that say there's a rapture and dead will rise when Jesus comes and that we will sleep and await Jesus. Not only that, but that ignores judgment day and scripture says we will all face judgment after Jesus returns. It says all will face judgment before God. To believe that some will skip judgment and go straight to heaven is to ignore scripture. Not only that, but is it logical that people would instantly go to heaven or hell, then be there a while and to fulfill scripture, come BACK to earth BACK in the grave, just so the dead will rise and meet Jesus in the air? The evidence of all the scripture weighs heavily on one side and is very light on the other, requiring twisting scripture a bit.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 explains what will happen when we die quite clearly. Earthly death = sleep. I don't hear this verse mentioned near as much though for some reason. God bless...

There is a verse in the Old Testament I have read it a number of times and so have others , yet we don't remember where it was . It can't be found in search engines and not even modern concordances ?

It's a verse that God says , I do not have flesh that I should forget . Why is this verse impossible to find ?

If you know where it is please respond . It is in the Old Testament. Thanks

    Earl,

Do you honestly believe that 2 Thessalonians 2:8 is talking about the United States? From what I see in the next few verses that follow, it is referring to the antichrist.

How do you come to the conclusion that it is the US?

Thanks Mishael for the invite! Dianne has got this one & shared exactly what I understand as well. It's interesting that this wisdom Psalm concerning the Law of the Lord is an alphabetic acrostic with each stanza containing eight verses only - and of course, devoted to the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet, as Dianne has pointed out.

I don't see any other criteria that divides this Psalm into its stanzas, as their content is varied, but all focussing back on God's Word (in its different forms & applications), and of course, using that Word to live wisely before God & man.

Amen and Amen, Brother S Spencer, we can't just be wounded by the Word of God ( Revelation 13:3). We have to DIE (be killed) by the Word of God ( Revelation 13:10).

2 Thessalonians 2:8 An then shall that Wicked (US, children of Satan) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume ( Hebrews 12:29), with the spirit of his mouth (Words of God), and shall DESTROY with the brightness of his coming ( Colossians 1:27 CHRIST IN US).

Hello David. It seemed that at this particular time, the Lord had other plans for Paul (& Silas). As you recall, in Acts 16:1-5, Paul was already in Asia (Minor) ministering, & he wanted to continue to reach out to those regions (as he had a heart for them, seeing that he was also from there: from Tarsus, Cilicia). So as he purposed to go further in Phyrgia & Galatia (v6), the Spirit forbad them from pursuing this course & wanted him to turn the opposite way, to head towards Greece (Macedonia, in particular). So he obeyed & got to Mysia, but I think Paul wanted to do a quick stop in Bithynia (NE of Mysia), but here again, the Spirit detected a wrong path by the apostle.

So from Mysia, Paul & Silas touched the coast at Troas (v8), when the purpose of this detour was revealed to Paul; that he had an appointment amongst the people of Macedonia (v9). And there in Macedonia, in Philippi, he met several folk: Lydia, an evil spirit possessed girl, & a jailer & probably others we're not told of. After this, he continued his journeyings in that region (chapter 17). Even though, Paul's ministry was pressing in Asia, the Spirit had another, maybe more urgent work in Macedonia for him to fulfil. Paul did however go back into Asia on his Third missionary journey.

    2nd Corinthians chapter 5 , vs's. 5 -6 & 7 ,.. absent from this body ( flesh ) is to be present with the Lord
  • Jesse - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Ron,

Your spirit departs your body when you die. In some places, the bible uses the word sleep for death. In John Chapter 11, Lazarus had died and Jesus said that Lazarus was sleeping. The disciples thought that Jesus had spoken of just resting, taking a nap, sleeping.

And by the way, this is where some groups get the idea that Christians when they die, they are in a state of what is called "soul sleep." But Paul says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. But there are groups that believe that you sleep, your soul sleeps. Jesus is talking about Lazarus' death. He is not talking about sleeping.

Christians adopted the figure of sleep for death from this text right here. And of course, it was carried throughout the first stages of the New Testament church because the believers' body, when you view the body, it looks like they are sleeping. That same body will be raised up one day and changed into a spiritual body.

But the reason why they are dead, and that's what the word death means, it means separation. Their spirit has separated from their body. Their body looks like it is sleeping. But one day it will be raised up.

So sleeping is not permanent. And that's why the early church adopted the phrase. But of course, when Jesus used it, it was not familiar to them and they said "Well if he is sleeping, he's doing well, he is just taking a nap." Jesus spoke of his death but they thought he was just sleeping.

  • Paul the Apostles Life and Ministry - In Reply on Matthew 17 - 4 years ago
Paul was a new Christian. Radically saved. He was a Roman, but began life as a Jew. He ascended to rank as a Pharisee.

He was highly educated. He gave the order for Stephen the Evangelist to be stoned to death. Book of Acts. You can find more information reading that passage.

Paul left there on his way to chase down more Christians. Jesus appeared to him on the Damascus Road. You should read of that also.

After Paul got his eyesight back, he was liquid excitement to begin evangelizing. This was disturbing to the disciples in Jerusalem.

Gods purpose for Paul was to EVANGELIZE THE VERY PEOPLE HE HAD BEEN ORDERING TO BE EXECUTED. He would be sent to the Gentiles!

It was necessary that Paul be alone with the Lord, by way if the indwelling Holy Spirit to be taught.

However, since there was not a Bible for him to learn from; seclusion was priority. He was taught by THE WORD OF GOD. The same as in John 1:1

It took 3 years. His enthusiasm did not wane. Look at the maps of Paul's Ministry over the region. It was on foot, by boat, horses and donkeys. He was beat up, imprisioned often, stoned, bit by a viper, chased, Acts is an exciting book to read. He was a man of small stature but his presence was huge like King David. He wrote much of the New Testament. He made tents to fund the ministry.

Important point iswe all need to spend scheduled time alone with the Holy Spirit. He is our Teacher. We too are SENT TO THE WORLD. Go ye into your world first. Evangelize large or one on one. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest. God sets up divine appointments as He wills.

To be a part of that is beyond JOY.

    Mishael

I hope Chris will reply to your question as well. I'm short on time here but Chris is long on history and depth of the journey I am sure.

    God bless.

Hello Dgjot. I believe you're correct in understanding that Jesus wasn't speaking of spiritual swords but actual swords. If He was speaking of spiritual swords, then His Words to His disciples would be meaningless as they were clearly instructed to purchase swords. Jesus would have been inferring that in their future ministry (after they received Holy Ghost power), their life of faith would be different to what they enjoyed when walking with Him in the present.

When He sent them out to minister to the people, did they lack anything?, He asked. Here was a special intervention & provision given to the twelve in their exercise of faith & power to deliver the burdened & oppressed. They lacked nothing; but now that special grace would be removed (i.e. they would have to exercise faith in different ways: they had to work for a living, they had to confront their opponents with the Power & Grace of Christ, they had to speak as the Spirit gave them utterance, etc.).

So, to purchase swords would not be for their protection in the ministry of the Gospel, but I think, for being equipped in their journey into the unknown farther reaches ("the uttermost parts of the Earth"), where defence against robbers, wild beasts, etc. would require one to have protection. And then we should ask, "Did any of the apostles after Pentecost ever carry swords?" We're not told that they ever did, nor did they ever use one, but I would suspect that they didn't carry swords, rather the Sword of the Spirit. But as the apostles willingly suffered & died for the love of their Saviour, so must we when confronted by the opponents of the Gospel & not offer resistance. But should we venture out amongst the thieves & wild beasts in the world, then being armed maybe the prudent thing to do.

    God bless you Pasquel.

Praise the Lord for your desire to help someone through the lost of a loved one. Many times it is almost better to say as little as possible. When Job lost his children, his wealth, and health; His friends came to see him and comfort him. But said nothing to him for seven days - only to be with him.

Prayer and fasting for her will help her. Maybe cooking a meal or doing something for her will help. Not easy as you are not sure if she knows Christ as her Savior.

When my wife passed away earlier this year, many from the church brought meals for me and my children as we were busy finishing my wife's final arrangements and church services. It was especially difficult as it was during the height of the Covid lock down and social distancing. I praise the Lord for church family, family and friends during that period. It was a great comfort for me and my children. Thank God. Praying this helps you and your friend to come to a saving walk with Christ Jesus.

    God bless you August 2021

  • This is National Prayer Weekend for Afghanistan Americans Return - 4 years ago
This weekend was National Prayers, dedicated to rescuing the Americans (and other countries) out of Afghanistan without loss of life or tragedies.

Please set aside some time to intercede on their behalf. The have to leave all of their belongings behind.

I know how that feels. I had a home fire when no one was there and it was 99% total loss; someone saved my pets :)

Loss is the most powerful Teacher, of what is truly important. It frees you to carve out a new future. I found out how much people really loved me and gave of themselves to help me restart a home. My deceased grandmother who I dearly loved; her China cabinet survived. How gracious God is towards us, to allow us the blessing of experiencing that!

Pray, that will happen. May they come back home and be met with self-sacrificing love and actions to help someone restart their life. They gave me their best when I had nothing to give back except love. My faith grew.

Suddenly we are receiving a preview of just how difficult the Tribulation will be. It's going to be real hard, day after day, life and death decisions.

We don't have jobs now. Landlords want rent and there is none. In the Tribulation, people left behind will have to survive with nothing.

We need to receive Jesus as our Lord NOW, and trust in what He says throughout the Bible. God is Love. Jesus is the God Man that came here to rescue us out of the horrors of the End.

Salvation is a gift from God. A gift has to be received. Sorta like Christmas. You give because you love. Receive Gods gift and Trust Him To Do what He said He would do, IN THE BIBLE.

So many of us have trust issues for numberless reasons. This is ONE TIME when you have full assurance that you can trust in God. Receive His Gift, His only son Jesus, and prepare to live in joy forever. He is Faithful that Promised.

    Hebrews 10:23

It's gonna be okay. Choose life now. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (one of His Names) & Faithful and True

    Hi Loretta.

You are correct, God knows all things. He even knew Satan would fall and deceive man.

Knowing this you know about as much as everybody. So with that being said I will give you my answer which would sound a lot like sister Dianne's and brother Earls, but I will say it in three word! I DONT KNOW. There is nothing given in scripture on this matter.

Another question is could creating Lucifer the way he did and knowing he would fall be a part of Gods redemption plan? Who knows?

Another question and this one might a little easier to answer, If God never created Satan and would have just created Satan would man have turned out rebellious and evil? Perhaps so. We know during the millennium Satan will be chained a thousand years and man will be under the reign of Christ and there will still be death and sin. After the Devil is loosed again he will deceive the nations again. With that being said, why did God create a rebellious man?

Now we come to part of Brother Earl's answer.

Romans 9:20-23. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

"Perhaps this can apply to Lucifer as well."

Here's a side note on Satan. He was created perfect. Ezekiel 28:15.

He fell because of pride. Ezekiel 28:17. and this caused him to want to be like the most high! Isaiah 14:12-14.

He was created perfect and by this he wanted to be worshiped.

Is not that what he ask the Lord Jesus to do in Mathew 4:9. This is also one of mans biggest problems as well, desiring praise and glory for ourselves.

    God bless.
