  • A fathers priestly duties - In Reply - 4 years ago
    You're right Dianne.

If fathers do not fulfill priestly duties in the home (and many don't), then it falls to the mother.

Any arguing over this must be done in private. It's never good for children to know of this.

Let all be done in joy, forgiveness and privacy. This frees God to minister to the father. Which is what we want.

Hello Ruth. There are varied opinions on this as clear dates have not been given to us in the Bible. But in reckoning the time period of Paul's ministry, we would have to guess the year of his salvation & assume the year of his martyrdom. So, guessing AD 35 as the year of his conversion & that he was martyred under Emperor Nero's orders in AD 67 (Nero died in AD 68), then Paul's ministry spanned approximately 32 years. Others here may have a better understanding.

    Hi Brother Chris.

I happened to not see it. but if I would have I would have left it behind.

I live in eastern time zone.

Once I realized you are 12hrs ahead

I try to leave Answers to you. forgive me for that. And I believe Brother Jesse is near the east coast so I try to leave the answering to him.

I believe this site has been gifted. The Lord gave them you guys and perhaps a few others to teach because your Wisdom simplicity and great communicating skills

And there are a few others.

However when I saw Jesse respond to a question I said they must have let one slip through the cracks, When I read the reply I then read the question,

I laughed because it wasn't a tough question because I have a good commentary. but I wouldn't have dared to give that answer after looking it up.

If I could interject Dianne. Actually, when I read your comment, I thought that you were inferring something else. So forgive me if I've misunderstood, but just to state the obvious: Hophni & Phinehas were indeed the (biological) sons of Eli. Then in 1 Samuel 2:12, they being referred to as "sons of belial" was a derogatory term for people who were useless, worthless, or scoundrels. And so they were, as seen in the following verses (13-17). But you would have known that - though it might help Larus & others.

Brother S. Spencer, I, like you, refrained from answering that question. Brother Jesse gave a very clear accurate explanation of 'masters/teachers', & he shared more than what I could have. However, on the original question by John, I simply couldn't answer it: "what is the situation"? I spent a good deal of time poring over the Book of James, considering all the verses where James speaks about 'speech or speaking' in the context of the Jewish society & Judaism from which his readers came from, but could not find an accurate answer to share. So I, as you, withheld & trust that John has been blessed with Jesse's answer.

Thank you Dianne. I spent quite some time yesterday researching E.W. Bullinger, especially on Genesis 1. He has certainly put out a lot of papers on many subjects but could not find anything about the issues that has been discussed here. Though, I did see that the word "was" is treated as "became" as seen in Genesis 1:2.

However, what was perplexing & may need verifying by those more familiar with his materiel, was that he believed that the Church did not commence till somewhere mid-Acts. And then nearer to his demise, he changed that view, believing that Church commenced after the Book of Acts. As well, that water baptism was irrelevant in the post-Church age. They were very troubling finds, if true; so any expansion of any of these matters (from anyone) would be welcome.

  • S Spencer - In Reply - 4 years ago
Hey, Nice Name, Forgive me for not addressing you by it but the site might not let me.

But l would like to draw you guys attention to something, First of all I believe you are correct and the context of the question and answer is PREACHING.

Glenn mentioned TEACHING. There's a difference between the two.

Here's two scriptures to keep in mind.

    Titus 2:3-5. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, TEACHERS OF GOOD THINGS;

( THAT THEY MAY TEACH THE YOUNG WOMEN.)to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

    AND.

1 Timothy 2:11-12. LET THE WOMAN LEARN IN SILENCE WITH ALL SUBJECTION.

BUT I SUFFER NOT A WOMAN TO TEACH, NOR TO USURP AUTHORITY OVER THE MAN, BUT TO BE IN SILENCE.

So in a way you are both right.

Now I believe this to be in the body, The structure in the universal Church, Whether at home or away.

"Elder women or to teach the younger to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

But they are not to teach in general. How are they going to teach when they are asked to be silent?

BUT THAT DONT MAKE THEM NO LESS VALUE THAN A MAN BECAUSE THEY ARE ONE.

A Marriage should model Christ and the Church.

    God bless.

    Brother Jesse,

You gave a great response, And sharing the Gospel is also done by helping in some way, ORDERLY.

We should care about the on listener's and speak the truth and stop challenging the those speaking the truth. That's not done by the Spirit.

What was funny about that joke was every question on the site was answered but that one. When you gave the answer I couldn't resist.

Brother God Bless we understand each other.

    Hey brother Spencer,

I didn't catch the humor at first but now I get it. I am not a pastor nor a Bible teacher. I was just trying to share my understanding of that piece of scripture because this person was looking for help.

Any one of us could have gave an answer. Whether it's the right answer or not, we all share things that we believe to be correct.

I think I may have given the wrong impression with my response to the original question?

    Amen Roger.

The Lord didn't send his disciples out until they were filled with the Holyspirit!!

The Lord "GIFTED" His church with ministers. (branches) and he is filling them with fruit to prosper "THE" Ministry.

Galatians 5:22-26. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

IF WE LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, LET US ALSO WALK IN THE SPIRIT.

((( LET US NOT BE DESIROUS OF VAIN GLORY, PROVOKING ONE ANOTHER, ENVYING ONE ANOTHER!!!.)

The lust of the flesh and vain Glory keeps us in contention.

The Lord "gifted" the Church with ect.

    Ephesians 4:11-12. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

For the PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS, for the work of the ministry, FOR THE EDIFYING OF THE BODY OF CHRIST:

Are we edifying the body on the site?

I'm not much of a teacher compared to some on this site, that's why I differ to them by not trying to answer all the questions right away.

BECAUSE I know there's some more GIFTED to answer. SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ON THIS SITE FOR YEARS DOING A GREAT JOB. This is why I refresh questions to bring it back to the top of the page Knowing they can provide a better answer.

    UNITY.

Ephesians 4:13-14. TILL WE ALL COME IN THE UNITY OF ( THE )FAITH, AND OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SON OF GOD, UNTO A PERFECT MAN, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

It's Sad to witness this attack from within.

The only one to receive Glory is Christ!

Let's conduct ourselves orderly in the truth and let the truth divide, Not our fleshly VAIN Glory desires.

    God bless.

You need to read Revelation chapter 22; of the King James Bible.

You are dangerously close to becoming a candidate for what's written in

    Revelation 20:12-13

    Revelation 22:18-20

    John 21:31

    Galatians 1:8-9

    2 Corinthians 11:13-15

THE APOCRYPHA IS NOT PART OF THE CANONIZED BIBLE.

    Read Ezekiel chapter 2,

    Then Ezekiel 3:17-27

These scriptures are a warning from God. Is this relevant in the year 2021. from someone who was pulled out of the snake pit of hell; so be wise and don't go near writings that aren't in the Bible.

Astrology is not even a science. It's a religion. The only sign that Christians have, is the BLOOD OF JESUS. Same goes for Apocrypha.

Please, please, may we all quit dabbling in and around the evil that inhabits these things...so as to give a comment on them.

There are many more people WHO WANT TO HEAR THE TRUTH. They need to be saved. They've heard Jesus knocking on the door of their hearts. The Harvest is here, now.

Even for us Christians, we need to read those Ezekiel verses. This is going to come up at the BEMA seat judgment of Christ. Rewards or no rewards. Everything we do has to pass through the fire.

I have a question for us all. How do you think world governments are going to pay for all this destruction and disasters in the great nations of the world? Billions and Trillions of dollars?

The one world system of money is advancing.

    * The white horse of the Apocalypse represents religious deception; money system

    * The red horse of the Apocalypse represents wars.

    * The black horse of the Apocalypse represents famines.

    * The pale horse of the Apocalypse represents pestilence (disease epidemics and pandemics) and Disasters and death.

Paul talks about going on unto perfection. In the Hebrews, He refers to the labor of love, leaving behind the doctrine of Christ That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. In spite of who we think we are ,God looks upon us through Jesus. When you come to that place, u will only begin to know the promises we have in and through Jesus! Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The complexity of living in a sinful world in a sinful condition, understanding what the world needs is impossible for us to know!

Abiding in Christ will definitely answer all the worlds problems. It will also convict others of sin. So regardless of how you may structure the gospel, it will always be the truth,! You can change Jesus words, but you will never change man sinful condition! This is one of the reasons unbelievers hate the believer! A true believer will convict you of sin!

    Dianne,

Was there something in my reply to the question that led you to feel as though I was trying to tell believers they shouldn't be sharing the gospel?

I'm confused at your response to my answer. I fully agree that there is a difference between someone being called to the ministry verses believers simply sharing the gospel.

Hopefully I did not give you the wrong impression. We as believers should be sharing the gospel as the Lord leads, and only as He leads. Anything else would be human effort which He will not bless!

Adam The scriptures were not given in english and there were people helping to translate it, as I said I know the Bible as originally Given in 2 Peter 1:20+21 is given by inspiration of God. Also it is an eastern book with eastern thought that when brought to light makes it even deeper so no that has nothing to do with questioning the author. God Bless

Just be alert. Satan can appear as an angel of Light and deceive people.

So if our thoughts do not conform to what the Bible reveals, we could be led astray.

There are many many voices out there these days. We need to ask God to enable us to discern; good and evil. "Discerning of spirits". Is a gift we can ask the Holy Spirit for. 1 Corinthians 12. He makes the decision which gifts we are bestowed. Then we need to study what the gift is used for.

There are people on YouTube that read aloud, the Bible. I like King James of course lol. Most of the readers have pleasant voices and enunciate well. It's nice to stretch out and just listen to Psalms or Proverbs. What goes into us, is more likely to come out of our mouths. When you speak it out, people will stop and listen to you. Rather amazing how hungry we all are, to hear the Lords Word.

Looks like a trick to me. It appears to say different things and I don't see how you assume these are contradictory. Also, is your goal in posting this to sow doubt in others' minds? Is that what Jesus called you to do?
  • Robert - In Reply - 4 years ago
It's not in the bible. It's apocryphal.
  • Dianne - In Reply on Psalms 23 - 4 years ago
Hi Adam I bring to you something to think about, I believe that the Bible as originally given Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by Holy Spirit 2 Peter 1:20+21. That being said look at 1 Samuel 1:3 the two sons of Eli Hophni and Phinehas the priest of the lord were there. In 1 Samuel 2:12 it says the sons of Eli were sons of Belial they new not the lord. So the question is which were they? No this is not a trick just food for thought.
  • Dianne - In Reply - 4 years ago
TNT Question you seem to just think man kind is absolutely no good, but John 3:16 defies that because verse 17 says For God sent not His Son to Condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. Gods intention is save as many as believe, he knows the condition of us before we believed, that is the purpose of his only begotten son in 1 Timothy 2:3 His will is to have all men saved. Gods will is always good that doesn't mean man is going to accept. God also knew there would be people born who would believe hence us. Some things to think about.
  • ROGER on Ephesians 4:30 - 4 years ago
Please church let us not argue the point of salvation and gifts. It is not our job to point out each others faults in Christ but to point out our faults with out Christ and point the lost to Him who sits on the thrown who forgives all sin. If you believe there is nothing more after salvation and thats all you want to maintain then thats between you and God. But I believe there is more to salvation and the walk with the spirit than some understand. The closer you get to God and the more you learn and the deeper of a relationship you have the more the spirit of God teaches you and the more you can walk and talk in the spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh but that which is borne of the spirit is spirit. We are all baptized by one spirit in to the body of Christ but how close you walk with that spirit is up to you. I challenge you to seek out more of the spirit and listen to what He says. Just ask Him if there is more than what is apparent to the eye. For it is not by sight nor by power but by my spirit says the Lord.

I'm putting this out there in Ephesians 6: 1+2 its says children obey your parents in the lord for this is right then to honor father and mother for this is right. The context is to christians so in that sense women are teachers also, now biblically Fathers head of house but both have responsibility to teach or instruct children so in that capacity and other capacities women are teachers. God Bless

English Sacha Its interesting you mention this another take I read from a book on eastern culture on this is in biblical times there was one large entrance to a city the gate and one small entrance behind it that was only large enough for a camel to go through with one rider on its knees, hence eye of the needle. I know that many things that Jesus Christ taught had eastern culture and thought tied to it. Thanks for the input its interesting. God Bless

Jesse I agree not everyone is called by God to be a minister, but those of us who believe can share the gospel there is a difference.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply - 4 years ago
Brother Robert, Christ FATHER is SPIRIT; Spirit has no blood. Flesh and blood CANNOT inherit the Kingdom of God. God's kingdom is the one's whose LIFE is in the Spirit, not in the blood. Christ came in the likeness of sinful flesh, life in the blood; he was crucified and shed is life blood for us. He was resurrected back to LIFE by SPIRIT. His resurrected body of flesh was not the same as the one crucified. Now flesh and bone, not flesh and blood. We also will have a new body of flesh and bone, with LIFE of SPIRIT, no longer life in the blood.
