Also, I could ask: do you see any reason between Jesus & the Jewish people observing the 4th Commandment as a day of rest & attending to religious duties, & then a sudden switch in worship times & styles, post crucifixion & resurrection?
And a further related question, seeing this is question about the Law: did not Paul himself write, in 2 Corinthians 3:6-11, concerning the New Testament (Covenant), that the Spirit of this Testament brought life to all unlike the Letter of the Law which only brought death? That was the purpose of the Law: to show the Jews God's Standards of behaviour & their inability to fully attain to it. Even though the Glory of the Law was tremendous, how much more is the Glory of the Spirit's Ministry. And that which was once glorious, God had chosen to do away with, so that the Glory of the New Covenant energized by the Life-giving Spirit, would excel in Glory. Here, Paul is showing the incompatibility between the Law which was given on tables of stone, to the Law of the Spirit, which is written upon the tables of our hearts; & specifically applied & written to believing Jews ( Hebrews 8:7-13).
Sadly, the Old Testament Law today is still called upon as a measure of one's obedience to the Lord. And sadder still, when that 'obedience' is used against other Christians who choose to observe the 1st Day of the Week as their day of worship (& maybe rest). Let us not judge one another, but that "every man be persuaded (convinced, believing) in his own mind".
The body of Christ consists of believers from many different churches. But the requirement is that they be born of God's Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13 says, for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free;
And again, the word baptize is the name of what God's Spirit does in a person's life when they are saved. It is a Spiritual baptism which water baptism symbolizes. But when God's Spirit comes into your life, it's a cleansing, and it's an identification.
When we baptize people in the water, it is because of their confession that they have experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and have identified in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. That is why we baptize the way we do in the water. Water baptism can't save anybody. It's just water. It's the baptism of the Spirit that saves, whether it's Jew or Gentile, bond or free.
Every person must experience the same baptism. And notice again that the emphasis is by one Spirit. And notice the second part: And have been all made to drink into one Spirit. So we're baptized, and that's when we're saved, and our fellowship with Him is that we drink. We drink of the living water. That's our walk in life with God. It says drink "into" one Spirit.
It's like saying everybody is drinking out of the same cup. Everybody is drinking from the same Spirit that satisfies the inner soul with living water.
You make some very good points. If I may just add my thoughts on water baptism for whatever it is worth. I believe water baptism is important but I also believe that it is to be done after salvation, not as a requirement for salvation.
Jesus said in Acts 1:5, For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
It is interesting that Jesus repeats what the bible says in so many places, is that the Lord's ministry is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. John says I baptize with water but the one coming after me baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And that's what He's repeating here in Verse 5.
When a person receives the Holy Spirit they are cleansed. That's why it is called baptized. Baptize means two things. Number one, cleansing, and number two, identification.
In 1 Corinthians 10:1, it says that the Jewish people were baptized into Moses under the cloud and through the sea. That's when the Red Sea was parted and they went through. It doesn't mean they had a baptismal ceremony. It just means that they obeyed Moses when he said let's go. And their identification was with Moses.
Now those two meanings for the word "baptism," is what we celebrate today. The moment that I am saved, I receive His Spirit into my spirit, and I am cleansed. And when I get water baptized, that is a testimony, my identification that I have received Christ and I'm saved. That is called believer's baptism.
Jesus' ministry is to baptize with His Spirit. When we receive Christ, we receive His Spirit. We are born of His Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is salvation. Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:13 says you are baptized with the Spirit when you are brought into the body of Christ, when you're saved.
scripture", and they will believe they are clothed in righteousness, but they are wrong in their doctrines and therefore will call on Messiah to cover their inequities in His name.
In other words, there wiill be many churches in the end times all saying they are correct and right, when in reality, none of them are, but as long as they include His name, they think they will be covered. He will tell them He never knew them - nominal Xtians.
Even though we become sons and daughters through spiritual re-birth, we are not called the begotten of God. Jesus Christ is the only begotten of the Father. The word begotten in the Greek text means unique. Jesus Christ is the only unique one from the Father.
John 1:18 is quite a statement. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, and again the word begotten means unique. The only one who is in human form that represents God, the only begotten Son which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
It is the relationship of the Word to the representative of God to man. First of all, nobody has ever seen God at any time. Nobody! The only one, the only unique one who has come from God, who is in the Father's bosom, another word of equality, He and the Father are one which He says John 10:31.
He, that is Jesus Christ, He has declared God. The word for declared is EXEGESITO. That is where we get our word exegesis from. An exegete is somebody who takes something apart and declares in detail the facts about a subject.
So there are the three principles concerning Jesus Christ: in existence, in equality, and in essence.
The only begotten Son (Existed) in the bosom of the Father.
(Equality) - bosom of the Father means that He is one with him.
And thirdly, (Essence) - God in human form.
In other words, if anybody wants to know about God, they go to Jesus Christ. He is not just a prophet. He's not just a rabbi. In the Christian faith and Biblical Christianity, He is God in the flesh, 100% God, 100% man!
The correct is , "so MANKIND would go through six God Days of one thousand years each (a total of 6 thousand years) plus a Millennium of one thousand years rest (now a total of 7 thousand years).
We will agree to disagree.
God bless.
There is ONLY one SPIRIT and that Spirit is GOD.
There is ONLY one Body (that PERFECT body that the Father gave His Son, that the SPIRIT (the Father lives in) and that BODY is CHRIST.
When we are born of the ONE SPIRIT then we become that ONE BODY (Father and Christ in us).
When we leave this body of flesh then we still are that ONE BODY; but now made PERFECT as Christ was perfect, when the Father gave him THE ONE BODY.
Ty for your honesty.
From everything you wrote in the first paragraph of your post, the most important is linked with the millennium itself, the other things although they are important too, however they are secondary.
One of the most important event to happen in the beginning of the millennium is to cast down Satan from this heavenly environment in Christ (where we still are in in the present time) to the earth. Immediately thereafter, cast him into the bottomless pit that he should deceive the nations no more - Revelation 20:v.1-3.
I think that you and all here know that the Word of GOD reveals that on God's six Days of creation and one Day of rest (a total of seven days) plus the Scriptures that teach that one Day is with the Lord as a thousand years ( Psalm 90:4; II Pet.3:8) so MANKIND would go through six God Days of 1,000 years each (a total of 6,000 years) plus a Millennium of 1,000 years rest (now a total of 7,000 years).
You and all here know that GOD sent JESUS in the TURN of the fourth Day to the fifth Day, or around 4,000 years after Adam. GOD was still working, as JESUS said: John 5:v.17 - My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. And from JESUS until the current time passad more two days or two thousand years, if we call the Christian calendar we would say that have passad 2,021 years. Therefore, from Adam until today already passad around 6,000 years.
That said, we must discern and understand that we are already living in the beginning of the seventh and last millennium, the millennium of Christ, or seventh and last Day, the LORD's Day. In other words, we are living in the beginning of the first century of the seventh and last millennium. Honestly, in my vision, we are in the last decade of the Devil's world -2020 to 2030-, the week 70th of Daniel 9:v.27 (7 years) is within of this current decade, the times of the END arrived.
What I tell you I tell to all: Get ready
Do you think Christ feels like a ROBOT.
Do you think his Father feels unloved because he CAUSES Jesus to love him.
Jesus said HIMSELF; of myself I CAN DO NOTHING. ( John 5:30) ( John 18:28)
Jesus said HIMSELF; ye (man) can do NOTHING YOURSELF ( John 15:5)
Philippians 2:13 For it is God who WORKETH in you BOTH TO WILL and DO of HIS GOOD PLEASURE.
We make thousands of choices each day; but every choice has a CAUSE that made us make that choice, and that CAUSE is God.
God CANNOT be Sovereign and man have FREE WILL.
Ephesians 1:11 ...being predestined (everything is chosen for you) according to the PURPOSE of HIM (GOD) who WORKETH ALL THINGS after the counsel of HIS WILL.
FREE WILL is the wisdom of this world that God calls FOOLISHNESS.
It is really easy to rest IN CHRIST when you BELIEVE HIS WORDS.
Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together IN ONE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, IN HIM.
1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be Saviour of the world.
You cannot be Saviour of the world without SAVING THE WORLD.
If a person truly believes he will bare fruit.
The Holyspirit will sanctify,
Romans 6:1-4 . What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Romans 8:11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
James 2:20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
John 15:5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Matthew 7:17-20. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
2 Peter 1:20-21. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 28:9-10. Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
The Same message is spread throughout the bible. a little here, and a little there.
All scripture should harmonize.
Amen.
No one was SAVED in the Old Testament.
If they could have been made PERFECT; there was no need of Jesus coming and giving his life so we and those in the Old Testament could be made PERFECT.
I have got a question, am not asking out of carnality, but to be edified.
QN: The bible says in the famous scripture of John 3:16 that Jesus is the only begotten son of God.It is repeated also in John 1:18 and 1 John 4:9.I agree that Jesus is the begotten son of God,but at the same time even us who have believed in Him we have been begotten of God and we are sons ( John 1:12).So, is Jesus the only begotten son of God?
Will be grateful to hear from you.
Again, I am not challenging the gospel, I am just a believer who needs to be edified.
Benon.
1. Person A says 'I believe in scripture A'.
2. Person B says 'yah, but what about scripture B?!'
3. Person A says 'yah, but what about scripture A?!'
What is needed is ALL the verses in context: A+B+C+D+E... to all be considered for a full understanding + seeking God through prayer and asking for understanding.
Example:
Does the Bible says believe and you're saved. Yes. Is that ALL it says? No. Do these contradict? No. Genuinely believing assumes action is associated with such a belief- otherwise, it suggests lack of belief.
James 2:18-19 - Even demons believe. Ok, so maybe we should do just the "bare minimum" more than believe, but no more, because then it would be "legalism" (some actually believe this). Satan believed too and was cast out of heaven. Hitler probably believed then later murdered 6 million Jews.
Person A is yah, just FAITH only
Person B is yah, but WORKS too!
Person A is no, just FAITH!
James 2:18 says it's BOTH! A genuine Christian does both, because a genuine Christian will bear fruit and do good works. Good works is GOOD, not bad as some falsely assume. Love your neighbor as yourself is 2nd greatest commandment and showing love is a good work. It also says we need to confess. We can call that scripture C in this case. 1 John 1:9. We'll find more relevant scripture too if we keep reading the Word.
Link
God looked down from heaven on the children of men to see what choices that they had made, and saw that none did seek him, no, not one - Ps 53:2 God by his foreknowledge knew that they would not choose to worship him and that is why he choose a large portion of of them to be cleansed from their sins by his Son and adopted them as his children.
We, as a society, still use this example when we adopt children. First the father chooses a child (the child did not choose the father). He then paid all of the adoption fees (as Christ did on the cross) and the last step of the adoption is when the father brings them home. The last step of our adoption by our heavenly Father is when he comes back and gathers his elect (chosen) from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other - Matt 24:31.
iam rev. yehezkel from lime city, gun - india plz prayer for ministry.
You gave a lot of Scripture, But unfortunately you've misinterpreted all of them.
However you're right about one thing, " You're not going to convince me about anything, And I'm not sure that's your intentions.
I'm not going to go through all of these scriptures but I will dig into the first one.
Mark 16:16. HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED.
( When and how was he or she baptized in the first half of this verse?)
Answer is: When they believed!! Only the Holyspirit can put you into the body of Christ! Not water.
1 Corinthians 15:45. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a QUICKENING SPIRIT. ( Life giving spirit.)
Can you get water baptism and NOT BELIEVE AND BE SAVED? No.
Here's the second part of this scripture
"but he that believeth not shall be damned."
Does it say but he that is not baptized shall be damned? No.
Now parallel that with these well known verse by the Lord.
John 3:16-18. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
HE THAT BELIEVETH ON HIM IS NOT CONDEMNED: BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT IS CONDEMNED ALREADY, because he hath not BELIEVED in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
" THIS PARALLELS WITH WHAT LORD IS SAYING IN MARK 16:16. ( but he that believeth not shall be damned.)
John says himself that he baptized with water BUT he shall baptize you with the Holyspirit.
If God wanted to create robots that acted perfectly according to a program and be in heaven He could have done that.
He instead made mankind with freewill to choose good or evil. Earth tests our character and our choices- if we will love God, love others, and be a good neighbor.... or not. Most people choose to follow satan and evil which I believe is for selfish reasons, so most people will also be punished and go to hell.
Imagine the difference of hearing 'I love you' from your daughter who voluntarily chose to say that vs. someone forced to say that. One is meaningful and the other isn't. Maybe God loves us enough to let us choose for ourselves who we will follow. God or satan.
When
In Genesis, God numbers the days 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., through the month. Nowhere in the Bible are the days ever given names. Naming days was an early pagan practice. The Bible only says that ***Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the Sabbath of rest*** holy to the Lord ( Exodus 31:15). The Sabbath can be any seventh day.
Scriptures such as Romans 14:5-6 and Colossians 2:16 give Christians freedom to observe a special day. God requires that we have a Sabbath day of rest. He also desires that we worship and serve Him continually, every day, not just on the Sabbath.
Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).
We are commanded to Honor the Sabbath
For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: "On the seventh day God rested from all his works." There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience ( Hebrews 4:4, 9-11).
We are commanded to honor God and the Sabbath, but the Sabbath CAN BE ANY DAY of the week we pick to meet together. But the Sabbath is not the only day to worship the Lord. We should be worshipping the Lord DAILY.
Comment: WORK 6 days and REST on the 7th. If it falls on a week day, you rest on the next day.
