"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."(1 Pe.1:15-16). We are called inhis Son, not of ourselves. "Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."(Ro.8:30). In short He called us to be part of the body where Christ as the head is the firstborn of all creation. Same DNA of faith makes us the double for Christ
Without doing the will what did Jonah taking passage to Tarsis did? Literal approach skips much of his deity so ecumenism presents another Gospel and another Christ.
We have not learned the word of God thus. "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Co.4:6) This glory is not static. " Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty./ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."(2 Co.3:17-18)
This pro-Israel activism is nothing short of wrong reading of the word of God. Their literal approach makes literal Jerusalem loom large. New Jerusalem is the destination for those who live as pilgrims and sojourners while in body. Their faith indeed grows even as that of Abraham. "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." (Re.21:23)
St Paul writes how the Spirit helps us with our prayers.(Ro.8:27-28) The same holds true with dictating what transpired between parties where the Spirit is setting down precisely the truth, ("Thy word is truth"). For example Jonah praying from the belly of the fish only the Spirit could do justice. So faith is essential .
Baptism is a sacrament, and besides God blessing children and categorically advocating "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven,",-notwithstanding for those who make baptism as a personal commitment, it may not be enough. That is literalism for you.
They enforce but do they follow its spiritual significance? Let us consider what baptism intends to achieve: dying to the world in order to be hid in Christ it is abiding in Christ. So faith coupled with works would mean whatever we do or speak is as though Christ did in us speak or did. So it is not I but Christ in me. In such a case we do for the glory of God and for his kingdom building. What hypocrisy is then to divide the body of Christ on ethnic fault lines , set by culture wars or subscribe to political causes?
Infant baptism is stepping into the breach just as Jesus did. "And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him."(Is.59:16). We were dead in sins and helpless where Jesus as an intercessor succeeded. Parents standing as an intercess which in case saw through Samuel to serve the Lord. In a manner of speaking Samuel was His service while he was in Hannah's womb. God heard her prayer when she lent her unborn son to Him. Birth of Samuel was accordingly, " And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground." (1 Sa.3:19)
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."(John4:24)
All scripture is God breathed so the word gone forth from his mouth and written down must be the basis for worship. So knowing what is His will and doing it must be considered as the only way acceptable to Him. "And the knowledge of the holy is understanding."(Pr.9:10-12)
So in understanding knowledge thus acquired must be helpful in worshipping him in truth and in Spirit. In Charismatic worship one find plenty of happy clappy worshippers, which is well and good. David did to the much displeasure of his Michal; so did Saul when he came upon school of prophets. But that did not help his case since he had no understanding what his holiness meant. David on the other hand was a man after his own, meaning that his life was the double for his Son. In short worshiping God is with understanding why we all were called before the worlds began.
God's calling is consistent. Some are called to be prophets to which the name Jeremiah is pre-eminent. (Je.1:5) Some are called to be helps, teachers etc., The Bible being god-breathed it bears names of holy men crediting them as authors, more accurate would be to call them as having taken dictation from the Holy Spirit. Conversations quote unquote therefore owe their truth to the Spirit.

For example Jonah praying from the belly of the fish only the Spirit could do justice. So faith is essential in order to understand how several parts in the God document relate to one another. Literal approach will not be of much help.
There's comfort in that!!
God bless you

"If it had not been theLordwho was on our side, now may Israel say;/If it had not been theLordwho was on our side, when men rose up against us:"
This song of praise acknowledges the Lord God who shall not withhold any good thing from those who fear Him. "For theLordGod is a sun and shield: theLordwill give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."(84:11)
'Our help is in the name of theLord, who made heaven and earth.' (v.7)
The first two lines state the enmity of flesh against the Spirit, 'where men rose up against us' for reasons obvious in that God a Spirit has made a common cause with a nation whose walk is different. Their upright heart has instilled fear and hatred in the ungodly. "Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name."(91:14). This name is what connects us to the Lord God where the time as we know it has no bearing. It is not that we chose him but He set his love upon us. "Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not." This name is what our soul represents.(1 Pe.1:8). From the Parable of Laborers in the Vineyard, we have agreed upon our hire charge, did we not? Now the question is how well do we know him?
"Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:/Then the proud waters had gone over our soul"
Proud waters going over the soul explains our struggle with wickedness in spiritual places. The kind of online bullying in our times which do kill the vulnerable kids in their teenage explains how Satan shall use our very own strengths to fell what we cherish most. That is sin which rides along the world so world so the progress of the ungodly comes at a price. Soul of the unwary is forfeit in this unequal war. 'Blessed be theLord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our help is in the name of our Lord who spared not his own Son for our sakes.
"Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens./Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon theLordour God, until that he have mercy upon us."
Everyone of us is like the laborer in Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard (Matt.20:1-16) When God breathed into the nostrils of the man and made him a living soul this covenant set the price and period of service. Soul is the hire price,-a penny and we are accountable to God. Redemption of our soul is the whole duty of man. For this reason the Psalmist compares how every faithful servant would try to please his master to the uttermost. 'Have mercy upon us.' In the vineyard not all works are the same, Fortifying the soil, pruning, gathering grapes in season are all parts of service. Kings, counselors, bureaucrats clerks are all labels and each one attends to their tasks and are accountable to God. "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences."(2 Co.5:11). How diligent should we then knowing the time is short we need to make our calling and election sure.
"s it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?"(2 Ki.5:26). In the age of moonlighting Gehazi would have been the poster boy for the preachers who want holiness and also line their pockets.
3Have mercy upon us, OLord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
3Have mercy upon us, OLord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
I have no problem when parties disagree, it's part of God's plan, he sets brother against brother and sister against sister.
God Bless YOU!
Is EPHESIANS 1:4 in any way related to JEREMIAH 1:5.
Thank you for your reply

(Part 2):
There have been several instances over the years where someone will post a question and we as a group give answers that we believe to be true, and we disagree with each other's answers, and then we argue back and forth amongst each other, and the person who posted the original question never joins into the conversation.
Sometimes the questions are controversial questions and I think that sometimes we get baited into the very thing you and I are doing here. I don't see this as being the case with this, as I believe this was an honest question being asked, but I do think it would be nice if the person who posted the question would at least respond to the answers you and I gave, or perhaps join in the discussion.
Jordyn, you and I are just going to have to remain in disagreement on this one. As I said, unless PBC79 has any other questions, or wishes to respond to what we shared, I see no need to continue this. If this is something you feel strongly about, perhaps you can start a new thread?
God Bless!!!
(Part 1):
The original question by PBC79 seemed to be asking if Revelation Chapters 2 & 3 are referring to seven churches, or one church. This person was told that the seven churches of Revelation are all one church. I believe that is incorrect.
Although you and I gave conflicting answers, I stand by my original response to PBC79. I still hold that these were 7 literal churches that were established in those seven locations listed in Revelation Chapters 2 & 3. And each one of these churches were given a specific message.
Now, as far as continuing on in this discussion, I see no purpose in it unless the person who began this thread has more questions. I gave my answer to the original question that was asked, and you gave yours. So, unless PBC79 wishes to enter this discussion, I see no need to continue going back and forth with each other about things unrelated to the question asked.
i've done a brief study of the nkjv and niv modern versions as to what they have printed and what is in the kjb. i realize i am preaching to the chior, but i thought it would be interesting.
note: (my words are in single parentheses, some of the material is from others that have done these studies. unfortunaetly, i didn't make note of who they are but you can find them under "bible comparisions" on the internet.
nkjv
1) the name lord, refering to god, is missing 66 times
2) the name god is missing 51 times
3) heaven 50 times
4) repentance 44 times
4) blood 22 times
5) hell 23 times

first a brief history lesson.
in the early 1950's a man named howard long was a christian businessman who would witness to his customers often, with no hesitation, but unfortunately his pride was stronger in him then humility and it not only led to his fall, but also the corrupted version of god's word in the niv. mr long was embarrased when one of his customers, instead of responding to the gospel as he was use to, laughed himself silly at the "ancient" language of the kjb. unfortunately, instead of defending the word of god, mr. long was embarrased and there after was determined to put the kjb in modern language "so it sounded more morden and people could understand it better." it seemed mr. long didn't go to god and seek guidance but instead he went to the honored authorities of his day and told them what he wanted to do. they resisted for many years until mr. long was successfully able to convince them that what he wanted was of god therefore by 1975 the niv was published.
I would recommend continue in prayer and go to your pastor and address your concerns with him, especially about the things the Bible says to do.
See if he will talk and mentor you without bringing you in front of the whole congregation.
Perhaps there is others here that can help.
God bless you.
God uses marriage to communicate Christ commitment and relationships to us as seen in
Ephesians 5:23-32.
See verse 32.
"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, AND SHALL BE JOINED UNTO HIS WIFE, AND THEY TWO SHALL BE ONE FLESH.
(Verse 32)
THIS IS A GREAT MYSTERY: "BUT I SPEAK CONCERNING CHRIST AND THE CHURCH.
Praise the Lord that we have a God that is faithful and keeps his promises.
There is one God of all and he is the God of Israel "The fish fruit " also in who he made Promises to also!
Here's one of many.
Jeremiah 31:35-36.
"Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
I am doing well, I hope you are doing well also.
God bless.
