SALVATION:
Bible is the most popular book in history of the world and it teaches Christianity which is vastly different from all other religions, because you don't need to work or 'earn' your way into 'heaven', but God instead died for you. So, you just have to accept the gift and follow Him.
In Islam and other religions you have to earn and work your way to their version of heaven.
SAVIOR/PROPHET:
Jesus taught to love each other and turn the other cheek. Jesus willingly died for everyone because he loved us so much. He was a Jew who didn't harm anyone, but even washed strangers feet and healed people.
Muhammad hated Jews and murdered nearly 1 thousand Jews. He didn't heal anyone or perform any miracles.
Jesus stayed pure, never married, avoided immorality, and never sinned.
Muhammad had 11 wives, one girl was only 6 yrs old and he is said to have had sex with her at 9 yrs old. This is considered pedophilia and is illegal in most countries and immoral according to the Bible's old law it is punishable by death. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari, The Book of Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah) 5:58:234, 5:58:236, 7:62:64, 7:62:65, 7:62:88. Sahih Muslim - 8:3309, 8:3310, 8:3311, 41:4915.
Jesus preached love and to turn the other cheek.
Muhammad taught jihad, revenge, and killing. Countless fundamentalist followers have committed mass acts of violence, terrorism, mass murder, and evil and are viewed upon as followers of satan.
SOURCE TEXT:
Bible is 10 times bigger than the Koran and written over a longer period of time, 1500+ years with multiple authors inspired by God.
Koran was written later in AD 610-632 by just one person.
Ask yourself, what is the truth? Have you tried praying to God and asking Him directly? Ask for a confirmation and genuinely seek and ask, disregarding whatever bias you carry, and disregarding whatever false information you've been told. If you really want to know the truth, you will find it.
God bless...
First, God hasn't pitted religions against each other. Man has. God didn't invent Islam, Muhammad did.
Second, I disagree that your religion is entirely dictated by where you are raised. At the age of adulthood everyone can think for themselves. Everyone has a right to think, research, and choose for themselves what they choose to believe. The reality is a lot choose not to, or some even don't believe their own religion, but choose to stay in it for other reasons like career, family, etc. Many Muslims go through the motions and don't believe it; same for Christianity.
Third, you said the two religions contradict each other whether Jesus is the Son of God or not. Both aren't true. He either is or is not, and of course the evidence is overwhelmingly that is that He is. Muslims believe both the Bible and their own Koran, so this religion contradicts itself solely on that point.
>If one of you stood on your soapbox and claimed to be right, and everyone else is wrong, then that's self-evidently nonsense.
Do you believe in absolute truth? Is 1+1 always 2? Is it sometimes 3? Is it a matter of opinion or is it a matter of what is true and false? You called yourself Ron, but maybe I instead say your name is Betsy and that is "my truth" and just as valid/true and what you said your name is. Then I could say if you're right and I'm wrong then you're just on a soapbox saying nonsense?
Will make another comment with differences.
Gleaning from the Greek Lexicon, in Luke 4:1, the word is 'egeto' from the root, 'ago' (to lead, to bring, to carry).
In Luke 4:5: it is 'anagagon', from the root 'anago' (to lead up, to bring up). So the emphasis here is on the direction: 'Up'.
In Luke 4:9: it is 'egagen', again from the root 'ago' (to lead, to bring, to carry).
So, it seems from the Greek, the distinction is not very marked, as each of the references point to Jesus being led or directed by the Holy Spirit (into the wilderness), & in His temptation, led/taken/carried by Satan. It would also be correct to suggest that in all three instances, Jesus was miraculously removed from his original position to those other positions (viz. the wilderness, the mountain, & the temple's pinnacle), rather than Him walking or climbing to get there. So, I don't think we should be troubled that Jesus was somehow not in control of his Will to concede to the will of the others.
"... than that any man should make my glorying void."
what does "glorying" mean?
"For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."
And how grateful I am for you Richard, your comments led me straight to the Lord in praise. I bless you in God's love.
-The Bible says that Jesus really was the son of God, and if you don't believe that, you will spend an eternity in hell.
-The Koran says twice that Jesus was not the son of God, and anyone who believes that Jesus was the son of God will spend an eternity in hell.
This is the absurd dichotomy of faith, offering as much room for compromise as a coin toss. People choose between the two religions by accidents of birth; if you are born in Afghanistan, you will be a Muslim, and so forth. It is an odd sort of God who created these circumstances, pitting one religion against another. If one of you stood on your soapbox and claimed to be right, and everyone else is wrong, then that's self-evidently nonsense. For this reason alone, all religions should be questioned.
""Let not then your good be evil spoken of:" I thought this meant if you are a married man you shouldn't be seen in public with other women even if you say they are just friends."
What should I say to him? He gets angry if I tell him he is wrong.
yet in 2016 I led a crew to the Book of world records. For building the largest thank you card in the world for Delta employee's. I am grateful for what I know!!!
+ "repentance from dead works" (v.1),
+ "faith toward GOD" (v.1),
+ "the Doctrine of baptism" (v.2),
+ "laying on of hands" (v.2),
+ the "resurrection of the dead" (v.2), and
+ of "eternal judgment" (v.2).
In the previous chapter (5:12), these "principles" are "first" (Greek noun root ; pronounced "ar-KHAY"), for all believers experience these "first principles" in Salvation.
The "first principles" are the "milk" (5:12-13) new convert Christian "babe(s)" require to sustain spiritual new life. The epistle writer metaphorically described those principles which follow the "first principles" as "strong meat" (5:14). Here, the verb "leaving" does not mean to forsake and abandon the "first principles", for these are "foundational".
As newborns grow in stature from "babes" into "them that are of full age" (5:14), so too do their nutritional demands increase from "milk" (5:13) to "strong meat".
The term "first" speaks of the basic, foundational principles, and from which more in-depth principles will follow. These principles which follow will require more spiritual insight and discernment.
This same rule applies to every individual Christian who strives for spiritual maturity and "perfection". "Leaving" means to build upon these "first principles" by pressing forward unto spiritual "perfection". Once the Christian convert achieves full understanding of the "first principles", he then strengthens these initial principles with more weightier, complex THEOlogical Doctrines.
Thank you for your kind reply. It gives me joy you received comfort. Telling me it was for you.
I know there are different beliefs on this issue and that's ok. Though I have faith we are to be with the Lord where He is in His Glory.
The story of how I came to meet that man is amazing. I know it was the Lord that brought us together. To share any of the experiences I've had after coming to the Lord gives me joy. As really some of the things only true children of God would believe. The one who always listens, to me, and enjoys it is my mother.
Keep your faith in the Lord. Praise Him, thank Him, tell Him how much you need Him and love Him. He hears everything. Always stay humble before Him. One thing I'd like to share to all is, those who stay humble before the Lord always hoping and begging for His mercy and forgiveness are the one who will receive it. He will exalt us in due time. Every single day when I pray, even if I don't think I did anything wrong, I beg for His mercy and forgiveness.
God is so perfect and above us we cannot even comprehend how glorious and pure He is.
A couple verses I will leave for the day:
2 Esdras 16:54 Behold, the Lord knoweth all the works of men, their imaginations, their thoughts, and their hearts:
Ecclesiasticus 43- By Him the end of them hath prosperous success, and by His Word all things consist.
We may speak much, and yet come short: wherefore in sum, He is all.
How shall we be able to magnify Him? for He is great above all His works.
When ye glorify the Lord, exalt Him as much as ye can; for even yet will He far exceed: and when ye exalt Him, put forth all your strength, and be not weary; for ye can never go far enough.
Who hath seen Him, that He might tell us? and who can magnify Him as He is?
There are yet hid greater things than these be, for we have seen but a few of His works.
For the Lord hath made all things; and to the Godly hath He given wisdom.
Have a Blessed day in the Lord!
We know, from Scripture, God hated human sacrifices. He does not allow it.
One last point, people may abandon us - even family; but the Lord God Almighty never will.
Thank you Lord for this medium of learning and discussion. Lord Jesus shine His face on all here.
God bless everyone on this forum.

There are two primary views on the identity of the sons of God and daughters of men. They were godly descendants of Seth intermarrying with wicked descendants of Cain. The major support for this interpretation is Genesis chapter 4 describes the ungodly generations of Cain, and 5 is the godly Seth line and the righteous line of Seth.
Cain and Seth are both descendants of Adam and Eve so if the descendants of Cain's daughters were fair, so the daughters of Seth would also be fair so, godly vs ungodly would have to be the difference. Nowhere in scripture are the descendants of Seth called "the sons of God", but more as an adoption, "shall be my son" as Solomon and us today, who receive Jesus and are led by the Spirit of God are the sons/ daughters of God. ( 1 Chronicles 17:13) ( 2 Corinthians 6:18)
The other view is angels who left their first estate and mated with women. Angels are called sons of God in Job, ( Job 1:6) ( Job 2:1) ( Job 38:7). Some say angels can not mate because of what Jesus said in ( Matthew 22:29-30). But all through scripture angels take on human form, they eat and drink and if they left their first estate it is possible. Scripture does not give a lot about this; we have 1656 years from Adam to the flood in only 7 chapters of Genesis.
Scripture tells us there are devils, demons, and fallen angels but these angels are different they are locked in chains of darkness in the bottomless pit until judgment. ( 2 Peter 2:4) ( Jude 1: 6). The bottomless pit comes up in Revelation, another study.
Also mentioned are giants/ Nephilim/ Rephaim "in those days; and also after that", before and after the flood. Whether these were offspring of angels' scripture does not tell us. The description in scripture is clear these are not just tall people. ( 2 Samuel 21:16) ( Joshua 12:4) ( Numbers 13:33) ( Deuteronomy 20:17) ( Deuteronomy 2:19-21) ( Amos 2:9).
This is just a small amount of information, maybe it will get you started in your study.

Even as God has all Power to protect or shield His children from all harm, discomfort & disappointment in life, it seems He often chooses not to do so. Even with the ministry of Jesus to the sick & suffering, or those who died & He raised to life, there was certainly joy amongst them that their life had been restored but does that mean that they didn't have to face struggles, ill-health & calamity the next day? Or, even those in the Church so equipped with the Gift of healing, have certainly restored many to health by the Spirit's Power, yet there was never a complete removal of their other problems that would come to them later on.
So in my understanding, the root cause for our woes is simply because we live in a sin-ravaged corrupt world & living in bodies so affected. Indeed, our spirits might be renewed & refreshed by God's Spirit, & even healing can come to us during that experience & subsequent times in our lives, yet the fact remains, none of us has ever been freed from pain or calamity - Adam & Eve saw to it. And it would be nice if God would wave His Hand over us every time an impending trouble approaches us, but that doesn't happen.
Rather, for the one who has placed his trust in God through His Son, our sufferings, though just as painful as unbelievers might experience, can find a measure of relief, of joy & of perfecting that none else can receive. This is because we are His children - He cares - He gives Grace - He draws us closer to Him - He uses us for others. You can look at these few Scriptures to guide you: Romans 8:18-28; 2 Corinthians 1:3-5; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; John 16:33; Romans 4:1-5; Philippians 4:11-13. In the midst of our suffering, we can always prove the Lord sufficient & gracious to us.
