Hi Johnny How about I paste a reply from Michael on a similar topic. I think you will find your answer here.

Jesus himself was born under the Mosaic Law and, therefore, was required to keep the Mosaic Law. That is why he was circumcised on the eight day as per the Mosaic Law. Notice that in the following verse. Jesus was made (or born) under the law - the Mosaic Law.

Galatians 4:4 "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,"

As long as that Mosaic Law was in force, the Mosaic Law (the so-called Old Testament) was in force. Jesus therefore kept his Father's commandments of that Mosaic Law. But, the Holy Scriptures has said that God would set up a New Covenant that would not be like the Old Covenant. Notice...

Jeremiah 31:31 "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:" "Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:"

It was not the Apostle Paul who changed God's Law to his people - it was God himself as per Jeremiah 31:31. However, the Apostle Paul, writing under inspiration of God, gave the first-century Church the new directives or laws governing that New Covenant. He never instructed the Christian Churches of the first-century to keep the Mosaic Law such as circumcision or the sabbaths. In fact, he instructed them the complete opposite. Notice again...

Colossians 2:16 "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:"

You cannot judge a Christian for not keeping the sabbath days - as per the New Covenant that has been set up between God and his present-day people - the Church of God.

I welcome your further thoughts, Dan. Good day.

Repenting from evil/sin is one of the most important things in the Bible. OT and NT. There is nothing else to repent of.

Romans 6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Christ preaching repent and to sin no more: Matthew 4:17, John 5:14, John 8:11.

In Revelation Jesus Christ makes it quite clear He's talking about repenting from sin/evil deeds.

Revelation 2:22-23 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they REPENT OF THEIR DEEDS.

And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your WORKS.

Read the first three chapters of Revelation to see what Christ is saying to the believers in the seven churches. He doesn't say "just because you believe everything is ok".

True faith in Jesus Christ is more than just believing. Like stated the most evil demonic people can believe in Jesus Christ but live according to the devil.

Faith without works is dead faith. James 2:26.

    God Bless.

Phil, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

CHRIST'S rule upon earth is not done from the natural Jerusalem existing in Israel east of the Mediterranean Sea; it is done through NEW JERUSALEM described in Revelation 21.

Revelation 21:22 And I saw NO TEMPLE therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the LAMB are THE TEMPLE OF IT.

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was offered ONCE to BEAR THE SINS of many; and unto them that (the SPIRIT causes) to look for him shall he APPEAR THE SECOND TIME (second coming) WITHOUT SIN UNTO SALVATION.

NEW JERUSALEM is ruling NOW. You can live in NEW JERUSALEM NOW.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a NEW HEAVEN and NEW EARTH (born of the SPIRIT): for the First heaven and the first earth were passed away (died on the cross with CHRIST);and there was no more sea (that the beast came out of). Revelation 13:1

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw (in vision) the holy city, New Jerusalem, COMING DOWN FROM GOD (SPIRIT) out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

John 3:13 No man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is IN HEAVEN (CHRIST IN YOU Colossians 1:27)

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and the SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLETH IN YOU.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice (Holy Spirit) out of heaven saying, Behold, THE TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN, and HE SHALL DWELL WITH THEM, and they shall be his people, and GOD HIMSELF (SPIRIT) shall be with them (and in them), an be their God.

WE SUFFER in THIS FLESH; until this flesh dies, and we are given the BODY OF CHRIST.

1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have PUT ON incorruption, and this mortal MUST PUT ON immortality.

1 Timothy 6:16 ....Who ONLY hath immortality.....

Luke 1:69 ..raised up a HORN of salvation...

Revelation 17:16-17 and the ten HORNS (saved) ... shall hate the whore, and shall make her DESOLATE and NAKED, and shall eat her flesh, and BURN HER WITH FIRE.

    John 14:15

    Luke 12:5

    James 2:14

Some emphasize some verses over others which frames their beliefs, but all verses in context need to be taken into consideration. Some tend to emphasize grace and deemphasize works, but it's both just as it says in James 2.

One of the devil's biggest lies is deceiving believers into thinking they don't need to actively follow Jesus and don't need to do anything. If that was true, I don't think Jesus would have warned his followers (Christians) so much through his parables. The Bible talks about keeping strong in the faith, armor of God on, striving for the fruit of the spirit, running the race to the end to get the 'prize'. We can have assurance of faith if we're genuinely following Christ (a Christian), but no one receives salvation until we are judged after this life. If people think they've earned a get out of hell free card and can just sit back and do nothing or follow the world and commit unlimited unrepentant sin and still get to heaven that would be a devastatingly false assumption. God bless. Matthew 7:21

Hello, can you please share example verses?
  • Adam - In Reply on Philippians 4 - 4 years ago
    Dear Chacha,

It is an unusual position to claim that repenting doesn't mean repenting of sins. In this context what else would someone be repenting of?

Why the resistance in repenting of sins, do you think it's wrong for someone to repent of their sins to God? If so, why?

How about confessing? Do you think it's bad to confess sins, but good to confess other things- what other things?

Just for clarification, do you believe that ACTS 2:38...

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Where it says to Repent, do you think it means DO NOT Repent? And it doesn't say "believe" here, but you think that's what it's supposed to say instead of what it says now?

And your point about even the devils believe in God you say they only believe in God the father, and not Jesus the son? So, when the devil tempted Jesus in the desert and they had a conversation, do you think the devil didn't know who Jesus was?

If he had no idea then why did the devil say "...If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread..." and "...If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down:..." And why did Jesus say "It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

The devil was an angel in heaven who was cast out so He's an angelic being with powers and knows who God and Jesus is.

If believing is all you need to be saved, then mass murders like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pot, will all be in heaven with satan then? Because most believe in Jesus, but the Bible clearly says that believing alone isn't enough. Hitler likely attended catholic church growing up so if actions of evil and sin are irrelevant then we'll be hugging and sharing meals with him in heaven then, despite him mass murdering millions?

Jesus clearly said most people will go to hell. Among those people will sadly be believers as it takes more than just believing. James 2:19

    James 2:24

    God bless.

    Revelation 7

The sealing of 12 tribes: The Elect

Jacob's 12 sons in order of birth: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.

Prior to the 6th trumpet, day of the Lord battle, 12 tribes of Israel are sealed 42 months from death, and witnesses to antichrist's atrocities.

Revelation 7 tribe sealing in order: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin.

In the field of 14 tribes, 12 are sealed; Dan and Ephraim have been left out. Joseph still represents two tribes, but in this case, for their apostasy, he replaces both Dan and Ephraim . Their seal exclusion implies that the 144K elect will be pure and righteous, having a strong testament of God's word.

In Judges 17-21, before Israel had a king, and in their territories, Dan and Ephraim refused to conform to religious standards. Moreover, Dan was not pleased with the land God gave them, and they with Ephraim chased after idols.

    My brothers Chris and Dan,

Don't let me get in between your conversation which is great. Which we all do to help one another. Just to put my feelings about the couple things being discussed about the Sabbath day and the law.

I wanted to write this a while back as now is my time to post this. We who follow Christ should strive to keep every day Holy not just one day of the week.

About the law I see it as the Ten Commandments are a good guide for us to follow. As none of them are grievous to follow and are all good. Even going through the 613 Mitzvot laws numerous times most are good moral things to follow. Of coarse we are past trying to follow every single one as we are under the New Covenant and Jesus Christ came for us. Things like sacrificing animals, dietary laws(which some may still like to follow), stoning people, etc.

As stated by someone else when Jesus Christ was asked "the greatest commandment". Him giving the two commandments to hang all the law and the prophets. Surrounding true love for God and one another. If we follow true love with a pure heart this truly will guide us down the straight and narrow path to truly want to do what pleases God and others around us. Producing good fruit in the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 13.

Just a couple scriptures I like about the law thing. Romans 3:31, 1 Timothy 8-10.

God Bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ. Have a wonderful day!

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

    Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

    Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

For as the Heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

HIM with WHOM we have to do; v.13 = Every Christian, yea, every single individual, must consider this statement very foreboding deserving pause of deep contemplation. Keep in mind, it falls within the context of ample emphatic warnings against "hardening your hearts in unbelief".

The expression, "to do" is the word (transliterated "logos"; pronounced "LOG-os"), meaning a "word", "saying", "discourse", and/or "declaration".

The expression "to do" translates from the same Greek root as the expression "give account" recorded in Romans 14:11-12: "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to GOD."

Each and every individual saint will stand before the Judgment Seat of CHRIST to explain and "account for" the motives of the lifestyles they lived in the name of Christianity (cp. Ecc. 11:9; Mt. 12:36; 18:23; Rom. 14:12; Php. 2:10; Heb. 13:17; 1Pet. 4:5).

Every Christian individual will answer for themselves without the support of excuses or blame on others. Every individual will either stand to receive his reward, or fall to suffer loss, based on their own merits.

Even demonic tongues are required to confess and give account when LORD JESUS CHRIST confronts them. Compare the actions and confession of Legion when meeting The LORD ( Mk. 5:6-7). Legion "ran and worshiped HIM (LORD JESUS) with the confession, "What have I to do with THEE, JESUS, THOU SON of The MOST HIGH GOD?" (Compare Lu. 4:33-34.)

Additionally, when many of CHRIST's disciples rejected and forsook HIM, HE asked the remaining twelve, "Will ye also go away?" Peter answered with this confession: "LORD, to whom shall we go? THOU hast the Words of Eternal Life." ( Jn. 6:66-68).

Thomas uttered the most poignant confession when he saw LORD JESUS CHRIST after HIS Resurrection: "My LORD and my GOD" ( Jn. 20:28).

Eventually and most assuredly, JEHOVAH GOD HIMSELF declared ( Isa. 45:23) every tongue "shall" actually and factually confess "that JESUS CHRIST is LORD".
  • Brother Dan - In Reply on Nehemiah 8 - 4 years ago
    Brother Chris,

You are ignoring tons of scripture regarding God's Commandments.....

I will comment on a few of your comments.

You ask - What then do we do with Scriptures (e.g. 1 John 5:2,3) that say we must obey God's commandments? That is a good question! If we believe what you are saying, then we need to ignore this scripture. In addition, there is a multitude of scripture including scripture from Jesus that asks us to follow God's commandments, are we to ignore all of this scripture too?

Yes, we must obey God's commandments. When we fail and sin, which all will, we can now be forgiven though Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ's death does NOT cancel God's commandments. God's commandments guide us and provides moral direction. Yes, apostle John and others followed Gods commandments and based on their scripture we should be doing the same.

You ask - Are John & others pointing the believer back to the letter of the Law that kills or rather to the Spirit Who gives life ( 2 Corinthians 3:6)? Yes, John and others are pointing back to the Law/10 Commandments. There is no easy way to get to heaven. If we ignore the commandments and live in sin....we perish!

You quote this scripture: It is the Spirit's Law in our hearts that frees us from the Law of sin & death ( Romans 8:2). This scripture from Paul sounds great but it does NOT provide us with a free ticket to sin. The scripture is about the Spirts Law - is the Holy Spirit residing in our heart that helps us to avoid sin.

You state: To give consent to both, that which is opposed to each other, weakens (even negates) the power of the New Covenant through Christ's Blood & the keeping of the Sabbath ever stands as a centrepiece to cause both error & division.

Ok, so we can believe in the new modern popular doctrine pointing to minimizing or eliminating the need to observe God's commandments or we can be (old fashioned) and believe in the bible and the 10 Commandments. I choose the latter.

    God Bless

    Hi Johnny.

The answer to Your question is,

    The Church.

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

When God called Abraham out of his father's land into a land flowing with milk and honey the whole world was in spiritual fornication , There wasn't a Holy nation.

Isn't it amazing how people fight to be the Hebrew as if that carried so merit today.

They're brought into the family of God by the blood of Christ as well as us.

    God bless.

On devils believing in James 2:19, it doesn't say devils believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and his resurrection but rather that there is one God, yet they still tremble... It doesn't mean they are going to heaven! The book of Jude says they are reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Do devils believe God exists? Yes! Can they ever be saved? No, according to Jude and other scriptures. Their case is closed!

More evidence that devils believe God/ Jesus is real? Acts 19:13-16, the sons of Sceva who were casting our an unclean spirit failed and the unclean spirit said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye.."

Mark 1:34 - "And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him."

Matthew 8:28-29 - "And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?"

    CHRISTIANS CANT GO TO HELL!

Matthew 7:21-23 ---> Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

He that doeth the will of God(sanctification through Christ)is the one that shall enter heaven.

Remember in v.15 He started with, ".. beware of false prophets.." . Can devils perform miracles? YES. 10 plagues in Egypt. Moses does one, the magicians do the other.

Revelation 19:20 - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles..
  • Chacha Dean - In Reply on Philippians 4 - 4 years ago
    Hey Pastor Ronnie,

Let's examine some verses here in context and you can see some of my answers on Adam's post.

REVELATION 3:19 --> "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."

First of all, this is a letter to the CHURCH. People who are saved already. They are not told to repent of sins, but rather to turn their ways around. This is the Church of the Laodiceans which was lukewarm: neither hot nor cold. They are divided in what they say and they don't have any stand. They say they are rich and need nothing but in real sense they are poor and miserable and blind and naked! Jesus is telling them to repent (to turn) from saying false things to saying truthful things.

ACTS 17:30 ---> And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"

It just says, "REPENT" and not repent of your sins. Paul was in Athens and saw a lot of idolatry. He saw that they have altars to all their gods and another altar written, "to the UNKNOWN GOD" in v.23. He tells them, "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; (v. 24 and 25) What are they to repent from? They should repent from thinking that God dwells in temples made with hands or thinking He is worshipped with men hands or thinking that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device(v.29) and to worship Him in spirit and truth.

1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins...". Confessing our sins is not the same as repenting of sins. Confessing is admitting that you are a sinner, because in the same chapter v. 8 it says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." Whereas repenting is to turn form what you are doing wrong (sinning) to do what is right.
  • Chacha Dean - In Reply on Philippians 4 - 4 years ago
    You mentioned Acts 2:38, Luke 13:3, Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9

    Let's examine:-

ACTS 3:19 - "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"

Does it say "Repent of your sins"? No! It just says repent, and be converted. We cant always add "...of your sins" after every repent word we meet. What's the context? Look at verse 13 and 14 :- They denied the Holy one and Just and desired a murderer, the killed the Prince of life and they did it through ignorance (v17) Then Paul is telling them to repent from denying and rejecting Christ to accepting Him by faith..

LUKE 13:3 - "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

Again, the context. Are they repenting of sins? No. In v.1 some guys tell Jesus that Pilate and mixed some Galileans blood with the sacrifices they were performing. Jesus asks they guys whether they thing the Galileans who Pilate has killed were more sinful than those alive in Galilee at the moment because of the suffering they went through. He tells them blatantly No (nay) and He tells them if they don't turn their ways (repent), they will perish in the same manner that Pilate did to the slain Galileans.

ACTS 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Again, no mention of "repent your sins." Context? After they had spoken in other tongues, some were amazed and others mocked the disciples by saying they are full of new wine(v.13) and then in v.22 and v.23 he tells them how despite Jesus showing signs and wonders and miracles, they still took him and crucified him, but God has raised him up again, and that God has made Jesus, whom they crucified, both Lord and Christ(v.36) They were pricked in their hearts and asked what to do. They need to turn from guilt (pricked) of crucifying Him to believe in Him.

    Hey Adam,

I did not say repentance is a false doctrine, I said repenting of your sins to be saved is a false doctrine. Big difference. The reason we are KJV Only is because of the doctrine it teaches. In the whole Bible, God Himself repented even more than anyone else ( Gen 6:6, Gen 6:7, Ex 32:12-14, Deut 32:36, Judg 2:18, 1 Sam 15:11, 1 Sam 15:35, 2 Sam 24:16; 1 Chron 21:15; Psa 90:13, Psa 106:45, Psa 135:14, Jer 18:8, Jer 26:3, 13, 19, Jer 42:10, Joel 2:13-14; Amos 7:3, 6; Jonah 3:9-10; 4:2) Does that mean that God is a sinner for Him to repent? No! But these modern translations have used the word "God relented..." everywhere that God repented, to justify the idea that you only repent of your sins.

Infact there is no verse that says "Repent your sins"!! A verse that atleast comes close to that is "Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee." in Acts 8:22 and it was about Simon who WAS ALREADY SAVED(in verse 13) and he wanted to offer money to get power to lay hands on others and was rebuked by Peter. Simon was to "turn from what he was doing wrong, to do what is right".

As Christians are we supposed to repent after getting saved? YES! Because we keep sinning even after getting saved. We need to turn back to God and seek His ways rather than our ways. But for Salvation, you only need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

    The only repentance in regard to salvation that is Biblical is when you turn from a false religion, to Christ, because you cant be in Christ and also in another religion. You must repent(turn from the false religion) and then accept Christ, just like the Thessalonians ----> 1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
