How do we know once we are saved that we are forever saved? I ask this because, if in our past after receiving salvation we were a good Christian for a while, yet this changed to a sinful nature. Then finally after several years, it is changed back into doing Gods will, and choosing to live for Him completely because, we realized our mistakes. What if during those years when we were not living for Jesus we were to have died. Would we still have gone to Heaven? Where does the Bible say once saved always saved? Is it only in John 3:16? I was reading where a man got on a bad road after being saved he got into drugs, immoral acts, and such. He died and saw he was in hell. He cried out to Jesus and was brought back to life. He then turned his life into a life of ministry. So, my question is this! Was this something perhaps God did to wake this saved man up, and place him back into His will by letting him get a glimpse of hell? I am now unsure since I use to do bad things after I was saved, and almost died in a coma would I have gone to hell if I had not lived? I simply want to know how we know for certainty we definitely are saved. Thank you, and God Bless!

    Daniel,

God commanded that certain celebrations be observed by the Jews each year. These were performed to remind them of certain events in their history. Each event celebrated something that God had done for them.

As God does not speak against celebrating birthdays and Christmas, I find no reason not to celebrate them in the context that God gave a person physical life when they were born and then God came to earth to give them spiritual life through Jesus Christ.

    God bless

    Carl64,

I cannot think of a single book that would explain every verse in the Bible. But, there are many fine commentators that can help guide you. I enjoy the teachings of Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio. For a verse by verse commentator I often turn to David Guzik of Enduring Word Commentary. He provides free resources that can be obtained in many ways. I am sure others will have suggestions also.

    God bless

Hi CARL64 ,please dont get discouraged ,the Bible is a very big book full of information that no one could possibly remember it all or understand it all first or even second time around ,have patience with yourselves ,the more you read the clearer things become and you start to see the beauty and the love and the perfection and you just want to read more and more as you see it all fitting together so wonderfully ,take your time ,try to relax and enjoy it and dont fret if you dont understand something ,it will all get clearer as you go along .

To that spiritual soldier out there, who truly knows the Lord and knows about the spiritual attacks that Satan launches against God's people, I ask for prayer for my mother that she be loosed where she's bound. Pray God gives me the strength I need to help her overcome the enemy in the name of Jesus. Please lift me up in prayers.

If I may also reply to your post Word 76.

Now the "rapture" is of coarse controversial to the church with usually three or four variants of when this happens. I myself would never say "the rapture is a lie". How would anyone know the exact plans of God? How deep His mind is as it could mean numerous things. Very much the literal "harpazo" or "snatching away by force" of the Church of Christ from this earth. The word "cloud" in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. is the Greek word "nephele" and means just that "a cloud in the air".

As I've stated before on this subject. We must be ready for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ at all times. As in what hour you think not is when the Son of Man cometh. Matthew 24:44. Weather a "rature" or when our life here ends does not really matter. It is going to be one or the other and of coarse most likely we shall have to go through physical death. We must endure till the end. Though I would never say the Lord is not going to snatch away His Church one day from this wicked world. I pray ever single day the Lord takes me home. Though everything is His Will not ours. We must be patient and solid in the Lord.

The word "rapture" comes from the Latin word "rapiemur", which is from "rapto", having the same meaning as the Greek "harpazo". Which is used in the Latin Vulgate in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

    God Bless.

As I just want to post this to you S Spencer. As that Psalm you posted lead me to open the Bible to that page. Then reading Psalms 71: is perfect for my heart this day.

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.

    God Bless.

Hello, I don't believe such assumptions are true. I believe the Bible is true exactly in what it says: 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17, when it says both those asleep (dead) and those alive will meet Jesus in the air and clouds it meets exactly that.

When it says one will be taken the other left, it also means exactly that: Luke 17:34-36. And when it says the same thing here, it also means that too: Matthew 24:40-41. Rapture is just a convenient word people use to describe what Jesus told us would happen.

Ezekiel 13 isn't related to this rapture. God bless.

  • S Spencer on Luke 1210 on Psalms 100 - 4 years ago
In regards to Luke 12:10. Everything we do we do by the Spirit, no man that has the spirit of God will blasphem the Holyspirit.

God's kingdom will not if the Holyspirit blasphem itself!

You see the notion here in Luke 11:17-18. But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,

( Every kingdom ) divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.

What is the works and purpose of the Holyspirit?

    Here's a few:

    :He seals us.

Ephesians 4:30. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

If God seals us can we unsealed ourselves? If so what does a seal mean?

    He teaches us:

1 Corinthians 2:13. WHICH THINGS ALSO WE SPEAK, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Would the Holyspirit teach man to blasphem the Holyspirit?

1 John 2:27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Anyone who thinks a Christian can blasphem the Holyspirit may not understand what blasphem the Holyspirit means.

Now lets revisit Luke 12:10 and see who Jesus is talking to and who the warning goes out to.

Luke 12:1 (KJV) In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the PHARISEES, which is hypocrisy.

Chapter 11 the Lord is giving the woes to the Pharisees.

Chapter 12 he's taking to the disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees.

He's not warning the disciples of blasphemy of the Holyspirit. HE CHOSE THEM AND HE CAN KEEP THEM.

  • Word 76 on 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - 4 years ago
Leslie asleep is the subject matter of the chapter and it is speaking of those that are dead and will return with the Lord. Clouds is as Paul used when speaking of a crowd of people gathered to race as in chapter 11 of Hebrews using street Greek and you'll come to the word "air" and that means spiritual breath or changing to spiritual life bodies. The chapter is the dead returning and we here on earth can't prevent it cause it's going to happen. Now if you read the KJV Bible in Ezekiel 13 you'll see God hates those who teach the fly to save their souls speaking of preachers who out of their own mind dream up their own Devine thoughts and not Gods because the rapture is a lie and not in Gods plan. Learn the word and you'll change your place of worship.

What does this passage mean exactly? I know Jesus spoke often (Especially to His Disciples) in parables. What's the reference?

    Hi Bill,

That's another tough highly debated topic!

Thank God we are overcomers ( by the blood of Christ ). There is nothing we can take away from it and there's nothing we can add to it.

Often we just look at what we think to be the worst sins and single them out like murder ect.. So we don't carry those acts out, does that make us Perfect, Does that lift the old sin nature, Does that take care of sin where it generates before we carry out the act, which is in the HEART!

If it was up to us we all would loose our salvation. THANK GOD ITS NOT!

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, JUDE 1:24.

Let's take a look at Sardis and their condition.

Revelation 3:1.... I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Some of those in Sardis is in a condition where they have a "name " they are live but they're dead. " Not all"

Man's righteousness is as filthy rags, the spotted garments can also mean your self righteousness, that fits Sardis.

Man is unable to clean himself or stay clean apart from the Holyspirit.

Revelation 3:4-5. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Jesus died for the Whole world, Some suggest that everyone is written in "this" book and their name will remain because they overcame by the blood of the Lamb.

Some only had a name that they liveth but are dead.

Psalms 69:28 (KJV) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Man can avoid the curse that is pronounced on him by keeping GOD'S WORD ( DEUTERONOMY 11:26-27 KJV). Keeping THE WORD OF GOD is therefore a wise decision because it comes with a blessing.

Jesse ,thanks so much for that ,you brought tears to my eyes ,the heart is deceitfull above all things and is desperately wicked ,who can know it ? We must try to know our own heart and recognise our own deceits ,we can fool each other ,we can fool ourselves but we cannot ever fool God ,he knows our end from our begining ,we all are as open books to him ,we must never forget exactly what we are ,i wont say what i know i am but its definately not good ,its a daily battle that we cant ever totally win but we musnt stop trying ,Christ has redeemed us and we are His but He does want us to be as much like Him as we possibly can ,the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak ,thanks again for your encouragement . Much love in Christ .
