"For bodily exercise profiteth little". It is how it reads, NO exercise! We live in a society where sports and physical fitness is praised, idolized. Nowhere in the Bible we see Christians doing exercise or sports, unless it was a soldier/police. We are not supposed to waste time doing exercise or training. We are called to do FASTING, and to eat in a disciplined way; To avoid gluttony.

    Johnnie,

Giving to the poor and needy is a wonderful thing and should be encouraged. However, you mentioned tithes. In the Old Testament God required tithes in order to support and maintain the temple for worship and support of the priests. Today we have many churches going under because of lack of attendance and support. The churches I am familiar with are in need of tithes to support their pastor and maintain a place of worship. Satan is working hard to close all churches to reduce the preaching of God's Word and he is making greater strides every day. You might consider this when making your decision.

God will honor the giving of tithes to the church as He did the widow that gave two mites, Mar 12:42. He will honor you even more if you give to the poor in addition to your giving to your church.

FYI, I service in my church without pay.

    Thank you

"Visiting the Fatherless and the widows". We see these things mostly with the refugee. More than ever are we afflicted with refugees. The world over ,created mostly from sin. How many homes continue to be destroyed, How many widows are born, how many children wander in the desert wilderness? While the politician can only see himself. The politician, looks always to put the blame somewhere else! He even creates his walls for protection, only for himself! And yet, they say the child is not mine, the cry u hear is someone else's child! The city, even is lost, with no borders that hold righteousness. There is no fear of God, all have gone astray! The scripture, written for our learning and instruction in righteousness, are only words? You too faithless one, will soon will find there are no gates to protect you! Judgment has arrived at the house of Israel!

And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

    - this young man knew what he proved and knew that only God is the owner of all power, he knew that God made the promise fear not for am with you, be not not dismayed, for i am your God. i will strengthen you, yes, i will help you, i will uphold you with my righteous right hand { Isaiah 41:10} him being the Shepherd and fights for his sheep he prove God to be his Shepherd not any other proven tools

Brothers and Sisters in the lord fear not the word of your enemy but prove what God has said for our life and prove Jesus to do everything for us the key is to abide in his word and his word in us then what ever we ask, desire, want will be given to us { john 16:7} God bless you

Hidden the meaning of Apocrypha, books were taken out because of the truth that they hold. It does not speak of rhe great and terrible God choosing the entire world of nations. Only Israel, and it tells who the world was created for.

    Hi Adam,

As I'd just like to reply to your post and just to bring peace. Like I stated how I agree with Jesse on his view I also agree with you on this. As you give solid reasons in you posts. How even angels have been known to have sinned and turn from God.

Me giving the answer of "yes and no" to this question of OSAS I'm sure would not hold up well to most. Though as I stated that God knows who shall endure until the end as in Matthew 24:13 being they that shall be saved. The Lord knowing His sheep. Though we as men should not take this situation lightly at all. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. As we have been bought with a price and we are His children 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. To live by His Will not our own and to follow our Lord Jesus Christ with zeal.

Taking this in the way of the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:18-23, seems to be accurate. In that those who fall away may have not even been truly saved in the first place. Though only God can really answer that truthfully.

We must strive to not lose our savor as our Lord told us. To run the race till the end keeping the faith.

Again I also side with you in that this is no small matter to take lightly as some may today. Just reading through the first three chapters of Revelation and seeing how Jesus Christ spake unto the churches. Having good things to say and bad things to get them to repent of and focus on Him. Sometimes I say to some people "Would you want the Lord to be happy with you or disappointed in you"?

We have been Blessed with free will. This is what makes people who endure till the end even more special. With a pure heart. To one day be glorified and be with our Lord where He is. Amen.

  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on Matthew 27:54 - 4 years ago
My apologies for that mistake my sister Toni. Forgive me.

I very much appreciate your touching replies.

Just as you stated in Matthew 22:14. That those of us who truly accept Jesus Christ as our Salvation and give our lives to Him. I believe have been chosen by God and are very precious to Him. As He is everything to us and knows our hearts. All being important members of the body of Christ. Not that I was trying to boast or anything when I stated that to him. Just what was in my heart. I was surprised when I heard the reply I received about that detail.

Here are a couple other Scriptures of being "chosen". Ephesians 1:4, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Peter 2:3-5.

God Bless you my sister in Christ.
  • Adam - In Reply on Matthew 27:54 - 4 years ago
    Dear Sherry,

It appears you're receiving mostly responses that de-emphasize obedience. I do not believe once saved always saved, because of Matthew 12:22-32 and so many other verses. I think if that was true Jesus would not have continually warned his followers (Christians) over and over through parables and stories about obedience and keeping His commandments and avoiding sin. It takes effort. It literally addresses this already in the Bible- saying that people used it as a license to sin and "abuse" grace: Jude 1:4, Hebrews 10:26, James 2:14-26, John 14:15, James 2:19. I fully believe all the verses others shared with you above, but unfortunately it appears most are sharing an imbalanced perspective. The Word speaks for itself and does not say once saved, always saved. Christians can and do turn from the faith, unfortunately, and sometimes a % go in the complete opposite direction and do horrific things, just like any other person can who does evil and follows the world or satan. I'm responding, because I think it's important that you not listen to men, but to the Word and pray and ask God for wisdom that you will know the truth. There are many false prophets and fake news being spread and we know who is behind that. God bless...

    Tom,

Jesus is quite worthy of praise, honor, and glory. I think we would both agree to that. However, I'm not too sure that Jesus had to earn His position. I don't believe scripture backs up the idea of Christ having to earn anything. How the creator of the entire universe would have to earn His position would be hard for me to grasp.

Thank you also for sharing your thoughts!

I would suggest reading the whole chapter, also Hebrew chapter 11, but these are just a couple, throughout the NT. I hope this helps

Ephesians 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 4 years ago
    Hi Tom,

Do you mind If I humor you abit?

Do Christ have an actual birthday?

I'm sure that sounds silly because the scripture is clear he has no beginning,

How do you define a father and son relationship "Biologically"?

No doubt the father existed before his son, there's not way we can comprehend any other way, this is natural!

Now do we view God the father and Christ the son in the same biological way? NO! and that's unnatural.

God "IS" Everlasting and Jesus came out of the bosom of Everlasting.

When you make your argument you make it from an biological/natural point of view when their relationship is not biological or natural.

When you see father and son you comprehend that from the creatures stand point.

But when you see Jesus mentions the Father and son he says me and the father are One and if you seen me you seen the father, He says that from the Duel Creator standpoint

You're trying to grasp that Biologically but you can't because Father AND the Son is Everlasting!

Apart from what's given from that,

is what the scripture says directly.

Isaiah 9:6. The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Revelation 1:8. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, (the Almighty) "Look up the all mighty in the greek"

Malachi 2:17. Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Malachi 3:1. Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

YOU CANT LOOK THE OTHER WAY AS IF THESE VERSES DON'T EXIST. YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER THEM.

TELL ME HOW DO YOU INTERPRET THEM???

    AND THERE IS MANY MORE.
  • Toni - In Reply on Matthew 27:54 - 4 years ago
I'm Sister Toni by the way (LOL).

But, it's so refreshing to read someone speak God's Word in truth, especially in the times we live in, where it seems so many people are moving away from sound doctrine.

By the way, I wanted to affirm what you said about being chosen. I think you mentioned in a post that someone corrected you and said people are called.

But, I was just reading today where the Word of God says, "Many are called but few chosen." ( Matthew 22:14) So, lots of people are called, but only those who walk away from the world and take a stand for Christ and walk in Him daily, are chosen. Thank God for being a chosen vessel in which the Lord can use and dwell in!

There's a link out on the all red page that says: Become A Believer.

It answers 99% of some of your questions. I know when you are a new believer, it's kinda daunting to find everything in one place. Start reading in the book of John; and then back up and read Matthew, Mark and Luke. Pick up again in the book of Romans. This is where we find most of the answers.

These scriptures do show the Godhead speaking amongst themselves. Before and after the Cross.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

We are here to bring praise to his name, for his goodwill and pleasure. God is Sovereign, we need him, not the other way around. I tell you my friend read his word, pray the answer will always come just as he sees fit.

Below are some verses that cover this topic

Philippines 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure

Ephesians 1:5-6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved

Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

2 Thessalonians 1:10-12 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul is saying we no longer live under the law of "sin and death" Paul is not saying we don't live under God's law. Context is everything. When we fall short, we have grace, but as Paul and yeshua has said, not till heaven and earth pass will the law of God pass. If we no longer live according to the law of God, and if it is truly not applicable to new testament Christians, why then when yeshua returns to rule on earth does he practice the law? He will practice the law untill all things written by the prophets is fulfilled, then heaven and earth will pass away with the law of God, we won't need it after that because there will be no more urge. To sin.

We don't follow God's law to save us, we practice GODS law because we are saved, see the difference?

Your faith in the word (yeshua is the word in the flesh) is what justifies you.

  • Dana on Matthew 27:54 - 4 years ago
We are a Christian family. Having raised our children in an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. My grown daughter, who no longer lives at home, had a question that I could not give or think of a satisfactory answer. My Pastor's wife could neither think of an answer that was adequate in explanation. The most I could come up with was that we are here, so God has friends.......aka to fellowship with Him. That is not going to be satisfactory for her. Does anyone have a better explanation? Thank you for your help.

There were Christian believers from times past that left this confession of faith in 1632.

"We also believe and confess that before His ascension, He instituted His New Testament, and, since it was to be and remain an eternal Testament, that, He confirmed and sealed the same with His precious blood, and gave and left it to His disciples, yea, charged them so highly with it, that neither angel nor man may alter it, nor add to it, nor take away from it; and that He has caused the same, as containing the whole counsel and will of His heavenly Father, as necessary for salvation, to be proclaimed in His name by His beloved apostles, messengers, and ministers- whom He called, chose, and sent into all the world for that purpose- among all peoples, nations, and tongues, and repentance and remission of sins to be preached and testified of; and that he accordingly has therein declared all men without distinction, who through faith, as obedient children, heed, follow, and practice what the same contains, to be His children, and lawful heirs; this excluding no one from the precious inheritance of eternal salvation, except for the un-believing, and disobedient, the stiff-necked and obdurate, who despise it, and incur this through their own sins, thus making themselves unworthy of eternal life." Jeremiah 31:31 Hebrews 9:15-17 Matthew 26:28 Galatians 1:8 1 Timothy 6:3

Yes Jesus inherited from the father as an obedient first son .

Not only was Jesus born of the father , but he earned the position by his completing the work The father sent him to do !

Jesus is so worthy of his highest position as Lord of lords and king of kings ! Awesome !! And only he could have done it , all the glory to God whom made it possible. We can only scratch the surface of this immeasurable work of salvation that was Gods plan and Jesus wonderful accomplishment. Thanks for the thoughts on this worthy subject , PTL ! When we can comprehend some of this it should cause us to worship , and never stop , so worth pondering dear reader .

Rev robert, may the Spirit grace you with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

    Revelation 14

    Revelation 15

    Revelation 16

This is the work of CHRIST DEATH on the cross and the work of HIS RESURRECTION and the battle ( Revelation 16:14) we are caused to fight to come to this TRUTH IN CHRIST. Being fulfilled for the last 2000 years as the Fathers draws us to CHRIST and CHRIST gives us HIS UNDERSTANDING to overcome. ASK HIM he will cause you to understand; but it HIS time frame. We have been in the day of the Lord now for 2000 years. He is harvesting HIS FRUITS as they become first ripe (firstfruits) ( Revelation 14:14-20) ( Matthew 20:1-16)

When the sixth seal was opened ( Revelation 6:12) Christ was crucified; prophecy of ( Joel 2:31). The old testament saints and the children of the resurrection were raised with him ( Isaiah 26:19),( Revelation 20:5-6) and ( Matthew 27:52-53). The old testament saints were sealed with the Holy Spirit and the body of Christ ( 1 Timothy 6:16)( Revelation 7:3-8). There was silence in heaven for one half hour ( Revelation 8:1) between the sixth and seventh seal. This is the 45 days between Christ resurrection and pentecost ( Daniel 12:11-12) 1335 days minus 1290 days. No one could enter into the temple (into Christ) until the seven plagues were pour out on Christ (he took God's wrath for us). now we can be ONE IN CHRIST ( Revelation 15:6-8). The four living creatures before the throne ( Revelation 4:6-8) is all creation. God made a covenant with Noah that they would never be destroyed again ( Genesis 9:9-12) man, cattle, beast and fowl. ( Ezekiel 1:10) ( Revelation 4:7). ALL CREATION will worship God. The lake of fire is how Christ cleanses and purifies us.
