I believe that the rapture is going to happen before the tribulation period. The reason I believe this is because of what we're told in 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5. Chapter 4 tells us about the rapture in Verses 13-18, even though the word rapture is not used, but we know it to be the rapture of the church. Chapter 5 often gets overlooked.
People go to Chapter 4 about the rapture, and everybody debates about it. But as soon as you get to Chapter 5, it says that when Christ comes, it is going to be like a thief in the night. But it won't be sudden for you because you are children of the day.
The people in Thessalonica were told that the rapture had already happened, that their loved ones are in the grave and they have missed it. They are on the earth and they have missed it, and get ready because we are in the tribulation period.
And in Chapter 5 of 1 Thessalonians, Paul described for the believer that first of all, it will be sudden judgment for the people who are not ready. But he says you are ready because you belong to Christ. But secondly, he said that God's people are for salvation, not for judgment. Once the church is removed, judgment is going to begin. So Paul is telling them that if you're still here and you are one of God's people, then it is not the tribulation period. That is important!
So I believe that the rapture will take place prior to the 7 year tribulation period. Just as John was caught up into heaven to see the events of the tribulation unfold, I believe we also will be caught up the same. We will be raptured, taken to heaven where we'll participate in the wedding feast. And then after the seven years, when Christ comes back at His second coming, we come back with Him!
To Him be the glory forever Amen.
In the case of Genesis 6:18, we refer to it as the Noahic Covenant. And this Covenant is found by reading from Genesis 8:20 to 9:17. We see that after the Flood had assuaged & the Ark settled on dry ground, Noah offered burnt offerings to the LORD (probably in worship & thankfulness for their preservation). And the LORD "smelled a sweet savour" from these showing His acceptance of the offering & of Noah & his family. And so the Covenant was issued.
And this Covenant included: no further curse to the ground we walk on; that the seasons will continue, as will day & night; & the LORD will never again destroy the Earth with a flood, providing a bow (rainbow) in the sky as a token of His Pledge. And we have indeed enjoyed God's Mercies & Pledge He made to Noah. However, the Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:5-11, reminds his readers that by the same Word of God that brought on the Flood that destroyed every living creature not in the Ark, so too will God once again bring destruction upon the Earth, this time not by water (according to that Pledge) but by fire. Therefore, knowing the certainty of God's Word & Promises, Peter challenges us: "Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?"
Then God separated these waters by a firmament (Heb. raqiya, or an open expanse), so that some waters remained on the Earth & the rest above the Earth (referred to as 'heaven', ). In this respect, the 'heaven' (or, firmament) was the expanse that included this water, the sky as well as the universe, as the Lord created "lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night" (v 14).
Of the water that was on Earth, we understand that God had parted it so that dry land would appear (v 9), but of the water remaining in the firmament, we're not told. It could have been a massive storage area whereby the Earth was watered from the sky (as Adam mentioned), & enclosing the Earth with moisture, giving the Earth a greenhouse effect. And this, with the "mist from the Earth" (2:6) sustained the plant life.
Does God look at us as being evil when we relapse or pick up that alcohol during out weakness see us from our heart n soul and allow us to be in heaven, or does he damn all Addict and alcoholic.ppl to hell?
My understanding is the firmament may have been a type of protective atmosphere of the earth made with water- perhaps like clouds or thicker which would irrigate or humidify the air and land. Genesis 1:7. Keep in mind it never rained until Noah boarded the ark, so this was probably a perfect and beautiful system. God bless...
Yes, God is indeed a merciful God. One way to fully understand how merciful God is would be to read through Revelation during the time where God is pouring out judgment on an unbelieving world. If you notice as you read along, the judgment comes in phases. And each phase gets progressively worse than the last. Do you think God's not trying to get their attention during each phase and giving them the opportunity to repent? It's like God is saying, "Look, I'm giving you the opportunity to repent and turn to me.
But even after going through this, many will still not repent. God could have just wiped out the entire unbelieving world immediately but He does not do so. Why? I believe, as you appropriately state, he is merciful. His judgment comes in stages or phases. Even during the time of His wrath, He's giving people an opportunity to repent. Now that's what I would call mercy!
Firmament is land mass. It was altogether in the time before Adam and Eve were created.
Scientists now say all the planets had water at one time. Extreme heat dried up all of their water.
Only Earth has water; and life.
You can Google scientists recent announcement on that discovery. I saw the program on PBS. Might look on PBS dot org

However, Psalm 90:10 reveals a reduction of the average time limit for mankind to 70 yrs (three score & ten years). But the Psalm goes on to say (verse 12): "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." We need to take stock of our lives & the Grace of God given to us, lest our days come to an end suddenly, as it did to those who perished in the Flood.
