    Carleton,

You nailed it! People need to hear the message. There are two words side by side you wrote that really stood out; "God leads!" He leads. If we are doing it out of ambition or a sense of obligation, the Lord's not going to bless that. If He's not in it, then our labor is done in vain, even if we're "doing it for the Lord."

I agree that much Bible prophecy has already been fulfilled. 69 weeks have passed. We have not come to the 70th week yet. I believe the next event to happen is the rapture of the church. And from the rapture of the church until the second coming of Christ, it is called the 70th week of Daniel. We have had 69 weeks, 483 years. And those 483 years ended at the crucifixion of Christ.

But now, there is this time period which is called the time of the Gentiles, between the death of Christ, and His coming for His church. We don't know the time frame, but as soon as the church is removed, there will be seven years, one week in Jewish literature. There will be seven years of tribulation.

We're running this race together. Never be discouraged. We'll all reach the finish line because Christ sees to it. We just have to be careful how we run it because we will not all be rewarded the same.

Just as in Luke 9:51 where Jesus had His eyes fixed on Jerusalem. When it was time for Him to go and die, He was fixed to go to Jerusalem. You couldn't get Him off track. That's how we are to run our race, having our eyes fixed on Christ.

Hebrews 12:2, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

He's the author and finisher. He saves us, sets the race before us, and sees it through to its completion. Sometimes the race is hard to run. We get sidetracked with everyday life and lose our focus. But we will finish the race no doubt. Christ in us will bring us to the finish line.

Have a blessed day in Christ!

the Scriptures; v.4 = The word "Scriptures" (note the plurality) translate from the Greek noun root (transliterated "graphe"; pronounced "graf-AY"), and from which the English language derives the elements " - graph" or "grapho - ", both of which speak of written words to convey a message or provide information.

The singular word "Scripture" occurs approximately thirty-one times in the New Testament. The singular usage usually speaks of a particular passage and a specific context within the whole.

The plural usage refers to all of the whole Body of GOD's Inspired Word. When Paul wrote this verse, he most assuredly referred to the Body of Scriptures now referred to as the Old Testament, and of which includes the Body of GOD's Promises "by HIS prophets" (cp. Lu. 1:70; Ac. 3:18 & 21; Rom. 1:2; Eph. 3:5).

    This plurality includes

    + "all the Scriptures" (Lu. 24:27);

+ the combined "Scriptures of the [individual]

    prophets" ( Rom. 16:26); and

    + "other Scriptures" ( 2Pet. 3:16).

The Scriptures; v. 4 (cont.) = Too often, Christians tend to permit life's present trials distract and blind them from the Glorious Promises GOD has given to HIS people. The world is void of any lasting hope, but "we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope."

When GOD's people read, believe, accept, and obey the Scriptures, they can't help but receive a keen sense of Christian confidence and spiritual hope. This hope comes directly from GOD as proclaimed in the following verse (v.5) through HIS DIVINELY Inspired Scriptures.

The Scriptures are in truth, in fact, and in reality, GOD's literal verbal communication to HIS people. They provide hope, for they contain GOD's guaranteed DIVINE Prophecies and Promises to ultimately save and deliver all HIS people from this cursed world, and from their present body prone to sin and death.

Moreover, through the Scriptures, GOD communicates HIS guaranteed Assurances to Glorify HIS people to enjoy the Heavenly Splendors of Eternal Life in the very Presence of their SAVIOR and REDEEMER, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The leaders in the time of Jesus were wicked pretenders of religion and Jesus exposed their hypocrisy:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ( Matthew 23:15)

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ( Luke 11:39)

Jesus was perceived as a threat to the religious leaders so they conspired to kill him:

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. ( John 11:47-48)

Even Pilate saw through their facade:

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. ( Mark 15:9-10)

The great wonder of this is that God knew all this and worked it all together to provide the needed sacrifice for our sins through his Son Jesus Christ:

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. ( Acts 2:23-24)

The Book of Revelation makes several points about the Mark of the Beast. It is not something you can take accidentally.

    Revelation 13

    v. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

    v. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

    v. 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

    v. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six

    1. He causeth all to receive the mark in their right hand or forehead

    2. No one can buy or sell without the name of the beast or the number of his name.

    3. His number is 666

    4. People will be killed who will not take it

Dear Brother Jesse, Thank you. I agree that there is nothing more needed for Man's salvation and keeping, than God's Word. Yet this Word needs to find it's way to the lost and I believe inspiration from God leads in this way how and when and what to say or write. Likely much Bible prophecy is already fulfilled possibly, way more than we realize. I have had visions and dreams that have helped to keep me to not be discouraged, to stay in the race to the finish.

    God Bless your writing.

So when Eve is told Adam will rule over her - is it like A L Harrison wrote - as Christ ruled and rules over churches?

If so how does that translate to marriage? Like Adam makes sure Eve keeps the sanctity of marriage and doesn't fall prey to dodgy things of this world?

    How does one interpret this?

Our discussion seemingly has led you to a point of frustration. That was never my reason. If you are upset or perturbed I am sorry ( Romans 7:9-10). As far as where have I (heard) what I have shared with you; thats an easy answer. In your terminology, I (heard) it from 60 years of intense study but more importantly I (heard) it from my Father God Jehovah. As far as my question you judged as foolish? Maybe to that question you should consider again with or without our interaction. The answer may just be a furthering of your walk to glory ( Hebrews 6:1). After all is said and done God shall be 'All in All' ( 1Cor 15:28), no more Jesus, no more Christ; that is where the question I ask came from, foolishness may God forbid. I have so much more to share but I'm not sure you could hear ( Matthew 11:5). These are not physically blind, lame or deaf but spiritually just as in John 6:53 -61. May you enjoy your walk as I have fully enjoyed mine; Christ, Jesus, Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, Comforter, Satan, yes they are all of God, not on God but in God.

  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on Titus 3 - 4 years ago
    Tom,

So no answer to my question of "where have you heard this"? Again, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, and the Holy Ghost are all spoken of as one in John 14. Also as I have stated that the word "ghost" and "spirit" are the same Greek word in the Greek texts. Just translated to two English words that mean the same thing. Is not the word Holy more important than "ghost" or "spirit"? If it is Holy it is from God.

So in places like Luke 11:13 is Jesus speaking of another "spirit or ghost" than in John or anywhere else? How's John 7:39? There are many other verses also that speak of "the Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of Christ" being in you after you are saved. Romans 8:9, ( 1 Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 4:30.

Do you know of ( 1 John 5:7? Where it states the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost are one?

Seeing as you have not given an answer to my one question I shall not entertain your foolish question. Which has nothing to do with our discussion.

Thank you for your time. I hope what I have posted shall open your eyes.

    God Bless.

Hi Debbie, the reality is we do what is important to us. If something is truly important and a priority to you, you will do it. There's plenty of time inbetween sleeping, eating, working for reading the Bible. We all have 24 hrs a day- will we spent it in pursuit of God and investing treasures in heaven or will we waste it on trivial things like entertainment that have no lasting value?

I believe very much in the prophetic word spoken today
  • Jesse - In Reply on Acts 2:18 - 4 years ago
    Hello Carleton,

I'm not sure the scripture supports there even being Minor Prophets after John the Baptist. I do believe that a person can still prophesy today, but that does not make that person a prophet in the true sense. To prophesy simply means to speak forth the word of God. Since we have the complete revelation of God given to us in His written word, there can be no new prophecy. We have to keep in mind the warning given towards the end of Revelation about adding to his word.

The problem with people claiming to be prophets today is that they will give you a message saying it's from God. What do we do with that? I mean if it's from God, we got to believe it, right? If it's from God, it's got to be true?

My brother, we have to be very careful and not fall into a trap. If a person who claims to be a prophet gives us a message and says it is from God, then we need to add it to the bible because it's His word. Again, we are warned not to do that.

I don't agree that there are prophets today, but I do agree that a person can prophesy, speak forth the already written word of God. The bible tells us to test all things to see if they are of God. How do we do that? Well, if a so-called prophet gives us a "Thus saith the Lord" prophecy, and it's nowhere to be found in the written word, that person is a false prophet, and Jesus said there will be many of them. I don't know of any place where our Lord said that there would be any true prophets that would come, only false prophets.

So I would have to say prophets-no, prophesy-yes!

Well I did not say that tongues was the gift. I said the Holy Ghost is the gift. Tongues is the utterance. And yes the Spiritual gifts are separate gifts like I said. This is a subject many do not learn/understand. I wonder how many churches teach wrong! There's scripture for this truth.

    Amen. Praise the Lord brother!

Just as brother Paul asked John's disciples @ Ephesus in Acts 19, "unto what were ye baptized?" When they said they had not even heard of the Holy Ghost for He had not yet been poured out during the time of John the Baptist. We need to tell as many professing Christians as we can. This is how Christian's confess Christ (to others) to be saved after baptism as per Romans 10: 9, it's not a one shot deal. Praise God!

Hi Jesse, I support most all that have written but I am left with a question. In preaching or even writing, as one brings forth inspiration from God, is that not a form of prophecy making the speaker/writer at least a very minor prophet?

    Linda,

I'm not sure what a witness brother is but I would have to agree with him. I believe John the Baptist was the final prophet. John was the greatest of all the prophets.

Matthew Chapter 11 seems to indicate that the Old Testament administration or dispensation of the prophets is going to end with John. And a new administration, or a new dispensation, is going to start with Christ.

Jesus said that John the Baptist was Elijah who was to come. That is what Jesus said. He is making reference to Malachi 4:5 that tells us that Elijah will come before Messiah comes, and Elijah will be the forerunner to the Messiah.

    But we have a problem!

In John Chapter 1, when the leadership sent people out to ask John, "Are you the Messiah?" John said, "No!" "Are you the prophet?" which by the way is also a term for the Messiah. Again John said no. "Are you Elijah?" He said no again.

Hmm, he is John the Baptist, but he is not Elijah? But Jesus said this is Elijah who was to come. So either John didn't know who he was, or he was confused, or something.

Even in Matthew Chapter 17 in the Transfiguration, when they came down off the hill, the disciples understood what Jesus said about John the Baptist, that John the Baptist was Elijah. But John said he isn't.

The answer is found in Luke 1:17 when the angel came to announce to Zacharias that his wife Elizabeth was going to give birth, which would be John the Baptist. And he said that he will come in the "spirit and power" of Elijah. He is going to have the same ministry as Elijah. He's not going to be Elijah personally, but he has the same ministry as Elijah.

You say you believe in modern-day prophets. If may ask you, what would you say their purpose would be?

Part 2 Bible plan for tongues

    Acts 9: 17, 18,

Paul, called Saul then, who wrote a lot of the new testament, recieved the Holy Ghost.

    1 Corinthians 14:18:

Paul mentions he thanks God he speaks with tongues more than you all!

Paul wrote chapters 12, 13, and 14 about spiritual gifts, the proper use of speaking in unknown/other tongues.

    Acts 10,

a man name Cornelius, a gentile, a devout man of God, who prayed always to God, had not yet known of or recieved the Holy Ghost.

Peter was sent to him and his household by the Lord, he preached to them the Gospel, and the Holy Ghost fell on Cornelius household, all gentiles! The bible says because they heard(visual sign and sound)them speak with tongues and magnify God! Then they were baptised! Acts 10: 44 - 48.

    Acts 19: 1 - 7:

Paul came to disciples of John, asking them if they had recieved the Holy Ghost SINCE THEY BELIEVED! They said they never heard of the Holy Ghost! Paul laid hands on them, when the Holy Ghost fell on them, they spake with tongues(Visual sign/sound). They were baptized in water.

    In conclusion:

    Mark 16: 17,

    Isaiah 28: 11, 12,

    John 3: 5 - 8,

Jesus spoke of a new birth to enter the Kingdom of God; a Water and Spirit birth/called the Holy Ghost.

    He said there would be a visible sign;

like wind you cannot see, but there is a SOUND.

In his Name believers would speak with new tongues.

Isaiah prophesied this would be the rest/refreshing for the people.

In the book of Acts this is fullfilled consistently when the Holy Ghost was poured out!

God's Spirit in you: the rest/refreshing, a visual sign of his presence in you, speaking from your heart out of your human mouth a new heavenly language, pure, beautiful and Holy!

    ... Revelation 21:1

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."

The bible plan for speaking with tongues.

God gave visual signs throughout the bible of his presence.

God chose speaking tongues as a visual sign when you recieve the Holy Ghost!

Jesus said out of the abundance of your heart, the mouth speaks. Matthew 12:34.

When God gives you his Spirit, he puts it in your heart; Galations 4: 6.

So what is in your heart comes out of your mouth.

    Jesus said:

    Mark 16:17:

Believers will speak with new tongues.

    Isaiah 28: 11, 12,

prophecied it is the rest/power, to cause the weary to rest; refreshing.

    John 3: 5 - 7:

Jesus spoke about a new spiritual birth you will recieve when you are born again. Then he added: John 3: 8:

The WIND bloweth where it listeth, and thou HEAREST the SOUND thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is EVERYONE that is born of the Spirit.

    Who did he say?

    EVERYONE!

This scripture is fullfilled in Jerusalem in the upper room, the Holy Ghost was first poured out: Acts 2: 1 - 4:

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a SOUND from heaven as of a rushing mighty WIND and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them cloven TONGUES like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Here you see that SOUND from heaven as a rushing mighty WIND is Holy Ghost/speaking with other tongues!

    Acts 2: 33:

Peter told the jews which were speaking in another tongue/language, this is the promise of the Holy Ghost that they now SEE(VISUAL SIGN), and HEAR(YOU WILL HEAR A SOUND.)

    Acts 2: 16 - 19.

Peter told the jews the prophet Joel spoke about it.

    Acts 8: 14 - 20:

Simon the sorcerer saw when Peter and John laid hands on jews, he SAW POWER(THE VISUAL SIGN) when they recieved the Holy Ghost, and offered money for it!

    Acts 9: 17, 18,

Paul, called Saul then, who wrote a
