William: the only answer that comes to mind is that Solomon chose to disobey God's commandment, not to marry foreign wives. The women who he married turned his heart to serve their gods. This was a direct violation of the first commandment, found in Exodus chapter 20. Also found in the narrative of his reign in Kings and Chronicles.

God gave mankind the Law which is the 10 commandments. Jesus death did not cancel Gods Laws.

    Jesus said in Matthew below:

Matthew 5:17-18 17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The above is very easy to understand...if we want to understand it.

There are many false preachers and religions today professing that we can ignore "The Law" which is the 10 Commandments, and live in sin, and as long as you believe in Jesus Christ it is ok.

If it was this easy....we would all go to heaven, and we know this is not true, because Jesus said that few people will get to heaven.

We need to believe in God, his Son Jesus Christ and do our very best to refrain from sin and follow God's Commandments.

    God Bless

Gregory ,yes ,i belive your message to be accurate and correct ,Jesus is the fullfillment of the law ,the law of love ,love God love each other ,greater love hath no man than this that he lay down his life for his friends ,we are his friends if we belive in him and obey him ,the 1st two commandment are the greatest ,love God and each other ,there is no law that can stand against pure love .

Why did Solomon sin so terribly later in his life?
  • Cindy - In Reply on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4 years ago
Before Christ laid down His life, the Israelites were under the law. That was it. They sacrificed animals for redemption of sin, which was an ongoing sacrifice.

Christ came to fulfill the law, not destroy it. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.-- Matthew 5:17, 18. As Jesus said, the law will not pass away. We are commanded by Him to keep His commandments (The same 10 Moses brought down from Mount Sinai). "Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."-- Matthew 14:21

To wit. The Israelites kept the law without option, really. The Christian keeps the law because he loves Christ.

Hello, just as a point of clarification, the Bible clearly says someone must NOT deliberately continue sinning and expect to be covered by grace. Hebrews 10:26. Matthew 7:21, Luke 12:10. The Bible contradicts the false teaching of once saved, always saved. Christianity means to follow Christ, if someone claims they were 'saved' and follows the devil and commits mass murder for the rest of their life, there's no scripture that says that person is saved, but it says quite the opposite. Satan is trying to deceive Christians into thinking it's ok to sin, but Jesus said the opposite. John 14:15. So, who will someone believe and follow: the devil, or Jesus?

Christ is the the great I Am, He is forever present. He created the world, and all that is in it. Even though Christ created the people and the world, the people he created rejected him. Those who rejected him and refused to recognize the light were unbelievers living in darkness. They knew of His coming it had been pointed to them by those God had chosen to prepare the people for the coming Messiah. The coming of the Messiah had been pointed to throughout the Old Testiment by those who God had chosen (His own) to prepare the rest of the world for the coming Messiah they too rejected Him. ( John 1:11 His own).

Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." If God sent us to hell for our sins, we'd all be damned.

He sends one to hell for one reason. "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5

When the born-again believer sins, even if it's deliberate sin, the blood continues to cover our trespasses. 1 John 1: 9 states, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I have lifted you both up to the Lord. Lung cancer is serious, but God is still on the throne. I have asked Him to show the doctors the reason you aren't able to speak. "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."-- 1 Peter 5:7

    Hello Vince,

I very much liked this post of yours as I agree. As I enjoy the teachings of Paul there are a few "snares" as you called them. We should read the Word of the Lord, Holy Bible, as a whole and not think one prophet or apostle was better than the other. All unique members but of the one body of Christ. Be thankful for all of them.

One thing that was brought to my attention just recently. Paul stating in Galatians 5:14 "The law is fulfilled in one word, even this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self".

When the Lord was asked "which is the greatest commandment" in Matthew 22:36-40: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Like you stated we should stay focused on the Lord and keep our attention on Him.

    God Bless.

Then you do not believe what God proclaims Skip, watch Kent Hovind's creation series #1 (there are 7, all outstanding!) If you have not watched this guy your missing some great stuff. On youtube. The Bible says "IN THE BEGINNING", period. I promise im not trying to be ugly but the fact is we(pretty much all of us) have been brainwashed since kindergarten because of dinosaurs (Kents #3 video) and cavemen and not being able to rationalize the time frame because the first book they handed us in school was something like "learn about dinosaurs" - that lived 450 billion years ago! Dinosaurs are all in the Bible, but the word dinosaur was not created till the 1800's, the word used in the Bible is dragon, leviathan etc. Job is a good example

There is another christ, another spirit, and another gospel that has been preached, and that gospel has in so many ways overtaken the true message and meaning of the message preached not only by Christ but His disciples. That message is Universalism. Amos 3:2 states "You only of ALL the families of the earth have I known"... And Christ Himself stated that He came not but for the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel. There is no conversion of other races to this message, though preachers preach to save every dog, cat, bat, and rat, that comes across their path. The Scripture is the most Exclusive Message ever given, and in a Political correct, though untrue society, that message would be detestable. Even the children of Satan (biological) today are received as the children of God (biological). There is a great void in understanding and an intentional effort to lose the proper meanings in mistranslation.

Am I correct in saying that Christ has freed us from the law, having fulfilled it on the cross, and triumphing over it openly putting it to shame. And that we are no longer under the law to keep it, because the law in Christ Jesus has freed us from the law of sin and death. And that we are made right with God by faith in His son Jesus Christ, not by keeping the law, and lastly if we could keep the law then Christ death is in vain??

This is the Rapture: 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

Called by our gospel? Not God's gospel? Remember Paul was not always a follower of Christ Jesus. Paul at times invoke some of his previous religious practices on the basis of works for salvation. As I studied Paul's teachings, I see a few snares from his former religious practices. God allowed this so as to reinforce in us His words as opposed to man's words. This is to keep our attention on Him. I hope you get it. God bless you
