Adam & Eve were immortal and designed to live forever in paradise, until they disobeyed. Then a radical change happened which was they became mortal. And all his offspring were no longer in the image of God. Genesis 5:3 "And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:" Seth was made in Adam's image, not God's image. "For as the body without the spirit is dead,..." James 2:26. "For if through the offence of one many be dead,... Romans 5:15. So before we are saved we are dead and Jesus said, John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Meaning you are dead. We know that a man has a body that is not dead, and our soul is not dead for when we get saved our soul is cut loose from our body. So that leaves the spirit to be the one that died when Adam sinned. And that is why Jesus said in John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Notice that when he said, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit"; the capitol "S" Spirit. An notice the "born again" in verse 7. If you have to be born again, that would mean that you at some time in the past, were born of the spirit. Meaning Adam died spiritually when sinned. No guessing, it's all bible.

    Hello Charles,

I most enjoy having a personal discussion with another brother in Christ. As I also have a KJV Bible that I study the Word from. I don't see that what we are discussing as wasting time. No one person knows exactly how everything went at these times as I'm sure you know. Thank God we have the Gospels that were written. Although it is still limiting to everything that happened in detail. Though it is more than enough to save us. As John 21:25 states that "if everything which Jesus did were written even the world itself could not contain the books". Maybe looking at the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Some things are contained almost exact in one to another, some things differ a bit but you can tell it is of the same event, then there are some things that are unique to each book and are not in one another. I would hope that someone would not just pick one, say Matthew because it was the earliest, and say "this is the one I believe." We should read all of them and put them all together and we still only have a fraction of the Lord's journey.

To answer your question of: What Gospel did you believe to be saved? It was when I was reading the book of John. Very early of me reading the NT as I hadn't read it fully from the beginning yet as I was jumping around. What spoke to my heart was reading of Jesus giving His disciples the new commandment of "love one another" in John 13:34. Also in John 15. When I read this is when I knew Jesus Christ was the truth and from God. Through my whole life feeling, in my heart, that love is what really matters. Reading this was just amazing to me and almost like what I had always wanted to hear. This is when I gave myself to the Lord. Praise be to our Father and Jesus Christ for everything I/we have been led to.

Thank you for sharing what spoke to you, from the Holy Bible, that saved you.

Who, does the Bible say should be baptized? Not to the Gentiles, although most gentiles get baptised.
  • Charles R Peek - In Reply on Judges 7 - 4 years ago
You may be right about the "day". But here is something to think about: Jesus said John 3:7 "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." of the Spirit of God, notice the capital "S". Born again implies that you had been born once in the past. So the "died Spiritually" idea seems logical.

Gen, Chp 11, Verse 2: Someone might need to check the wording. the word "from" may not suppose to be there. They traveled eastward or east; not "from the east" I could be totally wrong though. I have checked other sources and I can say the base of the tower is still there east of the city in Shinar in a valley. But here again could be wrong. I suggest you check the wording and decide. Thanks for an easy to read KJV Bible and study guide software. It has helped me many times, just trying to give back.

    Hi Laylee,

To me, the better question is why wouldn't you want to be baptized? If the Bible says to do something, shouldn't the normal response for a Christian be to follow it? In the event someone is looking to do the least as possible in order to just barely make the cut to go to heaven, is that a wise strategy and what if it backfires? These are the types of questions I would ask instead. God bless...

Indoctrination is a strong bond, it always amazes me how many Christians wont even listen to you when you show them scripture after scripture proving a post trib. rapture, you would think the central focus of being a searching Christian would be to learn what God says, not what some man or woman told you! If I only had one piece of advice I could impart to a new Christian it would be "dont believe what any man, woman, preacher etc tells you unless you can clearly verify it in the King James Bible!

Repent mean to change your mind, and you must change your mind to believe the Gospel to be saved. Quitting sins is not part of Salvation.

Your question: Really the question I have is how do you know the original

disciples/apostles of Jesus Christ didn't teach that the Lord "died"

for our sins? Answer: Because I have a King James Bible that tells what they preached; we can guess what they might have talked about that wasn't written in the scriptures all day, but that would just be wasting time. I have a question for you: what Gospel did you believe to be saved? I was saved by believing the Gospel that Jesus sent Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" Let us compare what you believed to be saved, with what I believed to be saved.

Hi Richard, thanks for your response. Yes you are correct to say " in the day " but Richard, it's the same thing. Any one day Adam eats, he would surely die. But day here to God means 1000 years. So yes Adam died within a day because he lived 930 years. No man has ever lived pass 1000 years. The only man who lived the longest was Methuselah who lived 969 years.

How does the advice on what to eat and what to avoid fit in with the New Testament ? Some say we are FREE to eat whatever we please as we are under Grace and not under the Law.

So am I allowed to consume pork or prawns for example?

    Charles,

Really the question I have is how do you know the original disciples/apostles of Jesus Christ didn't teach that the Lord "died" for our sins? As I myself got a little confused, with Paul's trip to Jerusalem between Acts and Galatians, because the Scriptures doesn't always have every single detail.

We can say that Paul met with Peter and James around 36 AD. I'm sure they had an amazing time talking about all types of things relating to the Lord and the Gospel. In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Paul states "according to the Scriptures". Which are probably Isaiah 53 and Jonah 1:17. Which Jesus states in Matthew 12:40 that He shall be three days and nights in the heart of the earth. Which His original disciples/apostles experienced this first hand. Which Paul did not. In 1 Peter 2:24 it states how Jesus died for our sins. Which was maybe written around the early 60's AD? Around the same time as Acts was written? So one epistle, not Paul's writing, has it the other doesn't.

Along with Paul meeting with the other apostles less than a decade after the death of Jesus. Then the second time around 50 AD before all written Gospels. I can't see Paul knowing more or preaching more than the other apostles, who lived with the Lord, in that Jesus Christ "died" for our sins.

As I would say that there are many details but One Gospel.

    God Bless.

These are some other comments posted on THAT verse of scripture. I don't see anything referring to trees. See if you meant a different scripture?I've never run across anything saying the vegetation was revised by God because of giants.

In my local Sunday Bible class we are going over John 17: 14-24, KJV. The lesson is entitled, "Called As The Intercessor" Thats where I came across verse 17. And, as sometimes happens, the verse drew me to it. I'm writing because of something that was mentioned in your "People's Bible Notes." "The means of canonization is not a Pope, but the "truth." As a former Catholic i am glad to see you make that distinction. I think that's important, very important. Thank you, for taking the time to read my opinion.

Use the search box where you first enter this website. Type in the box, the words you want to look up or read at length by yourself.

Like: Mark of the Beast, Antichrist, False Prophet, end of days, Last days,Falling Away. If your Bible has center of each page references to other passages, you can expand your study reading those too. Matthew 24 has many references to the End Times, and what will be happening on our planet.

A lot of people (especially the older crowd) who scorn Oral Roberts; have never listened to his teaching of the Book of Revelation on YouTube.

We as Christians should never disparage on a Brother (or sister), in Christ. His teaching is just that: teaching. I highly recommend it. I pray it will kindle your interest in understanding what is happening now. He teaches Matthew 24 also.

The Mark of the Beast, is done to the forehead or the hand. It's a conscious decision.

Flu shots, immunizations or vaccines are Not given in the hand or head. When you get a shot, ask God to bless it, sanctify it and make it Holy for you to receive. Amen.
