    Anette,

This Psalm was written in response to the destruction of The Temple in 586 BC by the Babylonians. The was God's own temple, and the psalmist is crying out to God to strike back at the Babylonian heathens. But this attack and the 70 years of captivity, were all part of God's plan to punish the Jewish nation and its people for straying from true worship of Him.

After the 70 years, some of the people returned and tried to rebuild the temple, but the results were disappointing.

God had warned them centuries before in Deuteronomy, what would happen, and it did.

    Ben,

Jews were often also referred to as Hebrews since they spoke the Hebrew language.

Gentiles were what the Jewish people have called non-Jews. Anyone who is not of Jewish ancestry would be considered a Gentile. Gentiles were also referred to in The Bible as the nations, that is, the people from every nation other that Israel.

The Jews are the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God promised all three that He would bless them and make of them a great nation and that through a descendant, the world would be blessed. That descendent is Jesus.

God also promised that Israel would have a land. After Jesus died and arose, in about 30 AD, the Jews were driven out of their land after The Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. Jews were without a country for almost 2000 years, but in 1948, they became a nation again in the land that God had previously promised. Most of the Jews today, still don't believe that Jesus was their Messiah, but that WILL HAPPEN, and I believe that it will be soon!

So, taking a little more time and looking into Acts 9:26-27 and Galatians 1:17-18 it does seem to be the same experience. It just got a little confusing as it goes directly from Paul preaching first in Damascus and getting let down in a basket by the disciples to save him, not saying he went to Arabia or three years passing, then saying he came to Jerusalem in the next verse in Acts 9:25-27.

This does seem to be where he only saw Peter and James, only noted as apostles in Acts 9:27, as Barnabas took him to them. A little detail we don't get in Galatians.

The Flood lasted 5 months. No one, even a huge man who might climb a tree, could survive without food for 150 days.

There were no chapters and verses in the original autograph. They are, however, handy for getting around in The Bible.

Too often people lift a verse or even a phrase out of context or even miss quote.

Rule #1: ALWAYS read the context, what was written before and after the passage in question.

Jesus NEVER said not to judge. Jesus did say to judge rightly.

"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Mat 7:5

This last 12 months has been a bit rough for all of us and ive had my ups and downs ,mostly downs but God has kept me smiling ,one thing i really enjoy is watching wildlife programmes on t.v. sometimes i get annoyed by the narration when they start talking about evolution and 20 milliond of years ago etc so i end up turning the sound off and just enjoying it with my eyes , looking at all the amazing and beautifull and perfect creatures that God created and i feel so much calmer ,to think that the God ,who so wonderfully made all this gorgeous and varied life with such attention to detail and obvious love ,that same and only God is my God ,my creator my sustainor my peace my sanity and my calmness ,why should i worry about anything ? He is every where and He knows and loves me and you and everone and He has a plan and i and you and every one else can be part of His plan . All we have to do is trust Him and not be afraid .

I grew up believing in God, but my faith wasn't tested until I lived on my own. Boy was I ever tested. I had to reconsider everything I believed from ground up and questioned everything. I was quite lost. It's quite a vulnerable and insecure position to be in. Life was overwhelming, eating my lunch, and I had lots of self doubt.

Fortunately, some new influences came into my life and slowly, question by question I had began being answered. I began filling the holes in my faith and I began feeling more hopeful about life. I'm grateful for everyone who followed God's nudging to come walk with me and offer support, even if for a short time. I believe God can use people to be blessings in other people's lives. And I was a recipient of that. I seek to pay it forward. I'm imperfect and still hit bumps in the road, but try my best to follow Jesus, love God and love my neighbor.

I also realized life isn't about me being happy. God doesn't exist for that. He's not a genie in a bottle there to serve me. I'm not entitled to anything, despite what this culture brainwashes people into believing. However, when I shift my focus onto loving God and loving others and deciding to be content, I naturally become far happier and satisfied with my life. Interesting how that works.

    Does God Change His Mind?

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Num 23:19

This was uttered by a pagan prophet who was prevented by God from pronouncing curses against Israel. It is truth.

Exodus 32 & 33 tell a compelling account of Israel rebelling against God and God expressing His anger in order to get across to us the level of anger and disappointment He had with them.

In 32:7-24 He says that He wants to destroy them and replace them with Moses and his descendants. But Moses intercedes for Israel and reminds God of His promises to Abraham Isaac and Jacob (AIJ). And finally, "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people." Exo 32:14

God knew and planned all along that He would not utterly destroy them but fulfill His promises to AIJ.

Chapter 33 begins with God repeating His promise to AIJ. But He also said, "And I will send AN angel before thee;" Exo 33:2 not His own presence. In Exo 33:12-16 Moses intercedes for Israel and this gem, from the lips of The Lord is right in the middle.

"And He said, My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Exo 33:14

God gives us these instances where He appears to want to vent His wrath on sinners but then changes His mind, withholds justice and bestows unmerited grace. And as you read and study you will see that this is what God intended to do from the very beginning.

Although this promise was for Israel, wandering in the wilderness, Jesus is still the same.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me...Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Heb 13:5-6,8

    Hello Charles,

This is getting interesting from what I'm finding in the Scriptures. As I agree Paul received the Gospel from the Lord in revelation. As the original disciples/apostles of the Lord were first hand witnesses and lived with the Lord.

So it seems, I believe this is mostly Peter in these verses, that the Gospel he preached was also for the remission, forgiveness, of sins and our salvation through Jesus Christ.

    Acts 2:38

    Acts 3:19

    Acts 4:12

    Acts 5:31

    Acts 10:43-44

Maybe the point you are trying to make is that he(other apostles) did not exactly say it was that He "died" for our sins? As I can't really be sure of that as the early preaching in Acts, that I posted, was only of Peter. There also being ten other original apostles preaching around. It could be though.

This is interesting what I came across. In Acts 9:26-27. As this seems to be not long after Paul's conversion. After his first preaching of the Lord in Damascus. Being saved by other disciples of the Lord ending up in Jerusalem. Then in verse 27 Barnabus took him to the other apostles. As I can't be positive but I don't think Peter was there at this time as a couple verses later it states he was in other places.

This does not seem to be the same trip to Jerusalem as Paul spake of in Galatians 1:18. As in Galatians 1:19 he states "of the other apostles I saw none". Interesting how in Galatians 1:17 stated that he didn't go to Jerusalem after he was saved or converted. Lots of stuff going on.

    God Bless.

    Charles,

Paul, who you claim, preaches a different gospel than the apostles, made it a practice to preach in synagogues in the cities he enters.

"And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the JEWS and also of the GREEKS believed." Act 14:1

"And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the JEWS and the GREEKS." Act 18:4

"And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both JEWS and GREEKS." Act 19:10

"Testifying both to the JEWS, and also to the GREEKS, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." Act 20:21

    Neither Jew nor Greek...

"There is neither JEW nor GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:28

"Where there is neither GREEK nor JEW, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all." Col 3:11

"There is ONE body, and ONE Spirit, even as ye are called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Eph 4:4-6

    Sorry, there's ONE Gospel:

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Gal 1:8

I strongly doubt that Paul believed that Peter et al were ACCURSED.

If you read carefully, the death, burial and resurrection ARE in the apostles teaching. I think the difference is in signs and wonders and in emphasis on OT fulfillment. Jesus needed Paul, with a PhD in The Gospel.

Appreciate your fervor and Biblical integrity, Charles. I FONDLY remember lunchtime debates I've had with other brothers who believed The Gospel but differed in other areas. Iron sharpen iron. Thank our Lord for His unfathomable mercy and grace!

There are four typos in the text of 2 Maccabees chapter 4.

4:18: "every faith year" should read "every fifth year".

4:30: "the king's concubine, called Antiochus" should read "the king's concubine, called Antiochis". (Antiochus is a man; Antiochis is a woman.)

4:34: "prayed, him" should read "prayed him".

4:39: "the fruit thereof" should read "the bruit thereof".

Hi my name is Steve Ippolito and I live in las Vegas, my story is one in itself based on my experiences. I was 24 years old married for over 5years and was working for the NASA program threw a contractor for the Govt to make rocket engines , the company's name was Rockwell international. My marriage was on the brink of divorce and I needed help, the problem was that both my wife and me were going to two different churches and with having much problems in our marriage none of the pastors could help with our issues because of not having the true love for us as a couple struggling with our indifferences as we sought out wisdom and guidance for our marriage.

I was doing great at the job but my wife just couldn't find her way in the work field and was slipping away from being a wife/friend/sister, in the lord due to her not being able to fit in somewhere doing some kind of work, although she didn't have to go to work since the lord had blessed me with a good annual income to provide for the both of us,but she needed something to keep her busy and just couldn't find anything. I started to notice changes with her and odd behavior's happening , so as time continued to pass I just kept praying the lord will help her and guide her, but she just couldn't pull it together . Her friends were not Christians and she was falling back into drugs and drinking. I didn't know how to handle it and the churches we were attaining didn't care enough to help.

It was on a Sunday early evening when I got the call from my mother in law saying to me that Debbie had died, this is when the real story of my life begins, since that day I began to fall myself back into old habits and began to pursue DEATH to be with my Debbie. I did what I could do , to get to the grave and so I make a long story short because there are so so many words to add to the story here and to explain all of my experiences, all I can say at this juncture is if my story can be worth telling on your web-site...

I agree, all had to believe, but the Jews had to believe John 20:31 "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." and the Gentiles had to believe 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

But you'll have to agree nothing beats Bible study for having fun!
  • Charles R Peek - In Reply on Romans 5 - 4 years ago
Yes, it's hard to come up with the exact dates; point is: Paul received the Gospel direct from Jesus, and told the 12 Disciples some years later, at least 14 years, for the Jerusalem meeting where he told them about the Gospel that he preached to the Gentiles. They all preach the death, burial, and the resurrection; but Paul preached something extra; "How that Christ died for our sins" none of the rest ever preached that until later when they wrote their books.

I deal with a lot of people who try to push the black Israelite theory. I know that the Caucasian version of Jesus we see in most churches is the false AntiChrist version and actually Apolloyon, but at the same time I feel like certain passages are taken out of context when describing the appearance of the Son of Man, as well as the appearance of Noah who is said to be in God's image as well. In the book of Enoch(which is scripture in my eyes), Noah is described as:

And his body was white as snow and red as the blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were white as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright. 3. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and conversed with the Lord of righteousness. 4. And his father Lamech was afraid of him and fled, and came to his father Methuselah. 5. And he said unto him: 'I have begotten a strange son, diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of the God of heaven; and his nature is different and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his countenance is glorious.

John of Revelation describes the Messiah as:

His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude*. Daniel 10:

"His head andHis hairwere whitelike white wool, like snow....His feet were likeburnished bronze..."

    His skin is also said to have looked like Chrysolite;

My point is, this description of the Son of Man was of his HEAVENLY form and was very much otherworldly and not like any flesh and blood human. Lamech describes his son Noah as having this same otherworldly appearance. But said his skin was white. So I don't believe this shows us he was black. I think the earthly version of the Son of Man was middle eastern
