My understanding of 1 Corinthians 7:26-31, is basically Paul telling the Corinthians that, because of their present distress, they should re-focus their lives & their thoughts on things that pertain to dealing with the sufferings & maybe persecutions. That they shouldn't be consumed with the affairs of this life, whether to marry or not, or engaging in other worldly needs or pursuits. Rather they should attend to the things that would help them deal with & go through the sufferings that they face.
My thoughts turned to some of the very poor Christians in Pakistan, where I ministered for a short while. They had very little as many of the others who lived in villages had. But because they were Christians, the govt. denied them electricity, a water supply, & access to any services that would normally be available to Muslims. How did they cope? Their life was more difficult: they had to use lanterns for light or depend on a full moon to show them where to walk; they had to go a long distance to pump up water from the ground or well; & they had to make do with very little. So, they had to accept this & had to live accordingly without complaining. I then see the 1 Corinthians passage as applicable to them: they had to devote their time & energies in just surviving & encouraging each other in the faith, that to be involved in anything else seemed secondary & almost unimportant. So marriages still took place, but they weren't consumed over the matter as others; those that sorrowed or in joy, attended first to what was more important; etc. They had to look past their problems & look to the Lord, to each other & to eternity.
Acts 10:40
Luke 24:7
Luke 18:33
Matthew 20:19
Matthew 17:23
Luke 24:46
Luke 24:21
This is only a few of the instances. Is someone doubting that Jesus was risen on the third day or something? The Bible says it all over the place, so if someone is trying to claim otherwise, they have a whole mountain of scripture against them.
Thank you:
Rusty Essary
it is about the portion of the tmh, his inheritance is his people first.
the nations will be judged for it!!
deut 30
For he that speaketh in and unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him: howebeit in the sprirt he speaketh mysteries
And Jesus said, "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Mat 12:40
You have gone to great lengths to explain why you do not have to speak in tongues
imagine this you speak in english and you go to greece and they say you have to speak in greek
what do you say to the greeks...
It always warms my heart when people search The Holy Scriptures and know The Holy Scriptures that are to make you wise unto salvation. A true Bearan: Acts 17-10-11.
Those are three good examples!
I like that you see that Abraham reckoned that Isaac was dead on the first day and he received him back on the third day. Heb 11:17-19. His faith is exemplified when he told his servants that "I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you." Gen 22:5.
Thanks for your swift reply. Please post again if you think of any other Scriptures. I still have other possibilities.
When you want the attention of someone particular hit reply under their comment so you msg will alert their email. I'm traveling so I only browse the site for now. But I want to draw you attention to a Homely example created by you. You said you are doing a lot of rewriting because of misspelling a few words, I take That you feel it's very important for you to be clear, "Your Msg is important for the hearer, Wouldn't a msg from God to those he Loves and trust and sent should be delivered with understanding? What about these Msgs we relay and receive on paper how can they bless you without understanding?
And Michael I believe those old testament references you gave speaks of the time of the Millennium. You seem to believe that worshipping. in truth and in spirit is all Vocal. """ How can you worship in truth vocally in an unknown tongue when you are noone knows what you are saying? What was your reason for messaging me? Was it because I said gifts doesn't confirm salvation, the best gift was Love its a fruit as well a gift and I said the scripture says you know them by their fruit? I have to get back on the road, I will msg you later. Thank you
As your post interested me to look into this. There seems to be no exact Scripture, in the OT, of the Messiah rising on the third day. What I found was there being three parallels in the OT Jesus may have been referring to.
The First being a parallel to Abraham being commanded to sacrifice his "only" son Isaac. When hearing this his son became dead to him. Then on the third day when he was about to offer him in sacrifice the angel of the Lord stopped him. Then Isaac being alive to him again. Genesis 22:1-12
Then next being a parallel to Jonah being three days, and nights, in the whales belly. Jonah 1:17. Showing that he was not living, but had died, is Jonah crying "out of the belly of hell or "sheol"I cried". Then Jonah 2:20 where the fish spit him up and being revived, or alive, after three days.
The last is a parallel to Israel being raised on the third day. Hosea 6:1-2.
As you may know all of these things already as you are a very wise man in Scripture. I just thought to look into and post what I found to you.
Hope that may help some. God Bless you brother.
Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
When you received Christ as your personal saviour, you also received the other two members of Trinity (1Joh 5:7), Holy Ghost and GOD the Father, and you are now born again (Joh 3:3). You are a baby spiritually in the beginning when you are just saved recently. You can't feel or experience HIM right away but you need to grow spiritually to experience a new spiritual birth. Naturally everybody is born with devil spirit simply because we inherited Adam's sin and therefore we are sinners by birth ( Rom 5:12-14).
A newly born baby does not know what is going on around him until he will grow up physically and mentally, does he? Same analogy with spiritual rebirth. Grow spiritually by reading scripture, praying, listening to preaching, and etc. Then you can feel joy and do not forget to spread gospel to others.
Some theological consideration. I have many things to say about Holy Ghost but I can't say them all here. Did you know Trinity WORKS and exists as ONE? In other words you can't receive Christ or Spirit independently as I indicated above. I hear truly saved people say that they are uncertain if they received Spirit also. Are you one of them? I'll just list verses for you to understand about Trinity more deeply without going lengthy discussion. Joh 10:30, 6:44, 14:6; 1Joh 5:7, 8. Thanks
When I was studying 1Cor ch 7 yesterday, I thought that people would have difficulties to understand verse 30 (and verse 29), somewhat strange expression. I could not see what you're trying to say in your response clearly. Basically we believers just pretend as if either good or bad thing did not happen when it happened really and look forward to the glorious time in heaven since we are just passing by this temporary life on earth. Please read the general idea again in the annotation.
When I clicked 'discussion' button, I saw your name at the top. I red your response to somebody asking about Holy Spirit. I will respond shortly too. Now I'm not sure how it works. If I click 'reply' button under your response, would that person who posted the question see my response?
I have committed the first five of sixty verses required to successfully complete the course to memory
I am now working on the memorization of Joshua 1:8
Please pray for the ability to be able to know this awesome verse so well that it will be said in conversation with anyone.
I must say it seems to be a great challenge.
Anyone here committed this verse to memory?
Thank you again.
We are instructed to believe Jesus came 2000 years ago and said, "Repent: for the kingdom of Heaven (on earth) is at hand" Matt 4:17. At hand means within reach. If we were to believe that we are waiting for the first coming of Jesus that explains the condition of human kind today. It also explains why Christianity has failed to convince all people to repent and bring heaven to earth. It explains why we have 3000 divisions within Christianity when truth should be the same for all people. It explains why many of those divisions will marry and ordain the gays, even thought they know God destroyed S&G. Even though they know God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Jesus brings a law, the Law of the New Covenant and he tell us who needs to listen to the Law. Isaiah 1:10: "Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord" When we put these lying children behind the pulpit we hear no truth. But Jesus will be the truth made flesh. His truth will heal our land.
Acts 17: 30, "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commanded all men every where to repent."
Repentance is the trans of a Greek word metanoia-mentanoeo, meaning to "have another mind", "to change the mind", "a change of mind in respect to sin, of God, and of self."
Rev. 3:19, "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."
God does love all humans and he comes to teach people to hate evil and to repent." The day of the Lord will come. I just don't see any evidence that he came 2000 years ago.
I hope that explains my
