"O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee." Mic 1:13 (KJVA)
Apparently the people of Lachish participated in worshiping other gods, just as the 10 northern tribes, Israel, under King Jeroboam did, which lead to Jerusalem, the center of worship in Judah, to also begin idol worship.
God is giving Judah warning about their idolatry just as He gave Israel warning. Israel failed to repent and God sent the Assyrians in about 722 BC who took the people of the 10 northern tribes and dispersed them among the nation: the lost tribes of Israel. Judah did not repent either, a subsequent to Micah's prophecy in 606 BC, Judah was attacked by the Babylonians and many were deported to Babylon and Jerusalem was destroyed.
In 1 Corinthians 10, at least the first 22 verses are a warning to the church about idolatry.
In the first 4 verses, Paul uses several illustrative phrases:
Under the cloud
For the 40 years in the wilderness, from The Exodus from Egypt to the entrance into The Promised Land, God lead Israel in a cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night. So "under the cloud" meant God's guidance and protection in the wilderness.
Through the sea
When Israel exited Egypt, God caused the Red Sea to open so that they could cross over on dry land, through the sea. "Through the sea" an impossible barrier to freedom from slavery, was overcome by a miracle from God.
Spiritual meat
In the wilderness for 40 years, God provided for their physical needs. He gave them mana every morning except the Sabbath and quail. Food for physical sustenance.
Spiritual drink
When they ran out of water, God instructed Moses to strike a rock near mount Sinai and water came forth. Water for physical sustenance.
Paul wrote these things...
"Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted." 1Co 10:6
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
Romans 5:12
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
You are very optimistic ,i like that ,we cant even put an end to our own sins nevermind the whole worlds ,if we could do it we wouldnt need Jesus' sacrifice , God knows all of our sins and he knows that we all keep sinning every day so He provided the perfect sinless sacrifice for us ,not that we stop sinning but that God has provided a means by which He can FORGIVE our sins through the willing sacrifice made by His only begotten Son ,we all sin ! There are many different sins ,not just sexual ones ,God has found and provided a way by which He promises to FORGIVE out sins ,as Christians we all try very hard not to sin but we still do ,God understands us totally and knows that it not possible for us to stop sinning completely ,He loves us and wants us with Him so he devised a means by which He is able to forgive us if we trust and belive in His sinless Son and Jesus WILLING sacrifice . You have a big heart and a burning desire for your God and your Saviour i can tell ,keep reading keep praying ,thank God for your blessings and rejoice ! Christ is coming !
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough response! I'll make sure she gets your message.
Thanks again,

"Neither of the two Scripture tell you how to be saved"
Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, however, you seem insistent on
distinguishing your preference for 1Corinthians15. Now why is that? Why are
you insisting a narrow view of what God uses to "save" lost people when God
has provided so many verses that he uses to lead people to himself through
his son? It seems to me your focus on this issue is to create a right and
wrong way on the matter of what to tell lost people. Am I right about that?
Suppose God chooses to begin leading a person to himself with Amos4:12?
Clearly the Lord Jesus left Nicodemus to ponder a second birth, and not
the sign of Jonah, as he also said would be for Israel. God has never been
limited to demonstrate grace in a particular age. Rather, it is we who make
distinctions, for the purpose of distinguishing Gods revealed methods of
demonstrating his presence in our time period on earth. The whole of God's
word is for all people to see him as he wills it so. I understand
dispensationalism to organize a view of Gods history with man, but his
salvation work is not so limited in his sovereign exercise of gracious love.
God wants him to do Amen

To read Commentaries about a specific chapter & verse: type scripture and verse in Google, then type 'Commentary' or History, if that's what you want to know. I generally pick a commentary from the first 7 listed. Don't be afraid to dig a little. Always compare books to what the Bible says. The Bible is the bottom line TRUTH.

Personally, I turn off the TV and make time for reading. Get a notebook and take notes. Learn how to sing to the Lord. Most Important: always ask the Holy Spirit to teach you; ask Him questions. He is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus went to the Cross to give the Holy Spirit to us to perfect our learning of Who Jesus is in our life.
Sit still for an hour before the Lord. Pray and then listen. You will grow mightily in understanding. Read Malachi 3:16-18
Every conversation we join in with others, praising And talking about how good God is: is recorded in a book that God reads.
