Thank you SkipVought for your reflections/insights into damnation and redemption. I believe in original sin. That the weight of original sin can only be lifted through baptism, water and spirit, as He explained to Nicodemus and Faith in Christ through the sacraments if available. I don't believe we are all saved, universalism is demonic, Anti-Christ. I say demonic because Universalism implies the Devil and his cohorts could also be saved which we know to be nonesense as spirits know God completely and so once turned would not want to return. Our blessed Lord explicitly states the two destinations a soul will ultimately reside on separation from the body. We are given free will to choose the right path, with God's grace, without which, as He said, there is no hope for man. He most certainly wants all souls to be saved but if that was a given there would be no need for the Incarnation and it would make a mockery of the Jewish faith Upto his arrival. He simply wants what he created to share eternal bliss with the triune Godhead but cannot ignore His own Justice. The church teaches us all to be in sanctifying grace so not to tempt the Lord our God. He came to save His own from eternal damnation.

    Micheal,

"O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee." Mic 1:13 (KJVA)

Apparently the people of Lachish participated in worshiping other gods, just as the 10 northern tribes, Israel, under King Jeroboam did, which lead to Jerusalem, the center of worship in Judah, to also begin idol worship.

God is giving Judah warning about their idolatry just as He gave Israel warning. Israel failed to repent and God sent the Assyrians in about 722 BC who took the people of the 10 northern tribes and dispersed them among the nation: the lost tribes of Israel. Judah did not repent either, a subsequent to Micah's prophecy in 606 BC, Judah was attacked by the Babylonians and many were deported to Babylon and Jerusalem was destroyed.

Remember faith is a verb not a noun...
  • Steve Anderson - In Reply on Galatians 5 - 4 years ago
    When i read the scripture , it tells me that we are saved by Grace THROUGH FAITH.... WE know that Grace is the Authority that enables us to overcome , we know that Faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR the evidence of things NOT SEEN... James tells us that FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD.. The scripture tells us that we must have Grace to support our Faith .. Faith alone dose not secure our salvation WE must have works of the spirit We must grow up into Christ . Jesus said i am the Author and the Finisher of your faith.. HE WROTE THE BOOK. HE IS THE FOUNDATION, HE IS THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE, { In your patience posses ye your souls... }

    Emma,

In 1 Corinthians 10, at least the first 22 verses are a warning to the church about idolatry.

In the first 4 verses, Paul uses several illustrative phrases:

    Under the cloud

For the 40 years in the wilderness, from The Exodus from Egypt to the entrance into The Promised Land, God lead Israel in a cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night. So "under the cloud" meant God's guidance and protection in the wilderness.

    Through the sea

When Israel exited Egypt, God caused the Red Sea to open so that they could cross over on dry land, through the sea. "Through the sea" an impossible barrier to freedom from slavery, was overcome by a miracle from God.

    Spiritual meat

In the wilderness for 40 years, God provided for their physical needs. He gave them mana every morning except the Sabbath and quail. Food for physical sustenance.

    Spiritual drink

When they ran out of water, God instructed Moses to strike a rock near mount Sinai and water came forth. Water for physical sustenance.

    Paul wrote these things...

"Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted." 1Co 10:6

Michael, thank you for the word... Your words will bring great comfort to those who will listen. You have spoken clearly in these times of confusion. Growing as the tree in the midst of his vineyard. How wonderful is His blood that will cleanse us all from unrighteousness, will lead us into everlasting life found in Him.

    Marilyn .

You are very optimistic ,i like that ,we cant even put an end to our own sins nevermind the whole worlds ,if we could do it we wouldnt need Jesus' sacrifice , God knows all of our sins and he knows that we all keep sinning every day so He provided the perfect sinless sacrifice for us ,not that we stop sinning but that God has provided a means by which He can FORGIVE our sins through the willing sacrifice made by His only begotten Son ,we all sin ! There are many different sins ,not just sexual ones ,God has found and provided a way by which He promises to FORGIVE out sins ,as Christians we all try very hard not to sin but we still do ,God understands us totally and knows that it not possible for us to stop sinning completely ,He loves us and wants us with Him so he devised a means by which He is able to forgive us if we trust and belive in His sinless Son and Jesus WILLING sacrifice . You have a big heart and a burning desire for your God and your Saviour i can tell ,keep reading keep praying ,thank God for your blessings and rejoice ! Christ is coming !

Question? How does a pastor's wife forgive him for adulterous behavior of 6 years? Especially when he is diagnosed with Parkinson & Dementia and can't help me work through this devastating trial in our lives. He had to retire as an educator also. I had to retire to be his care provider. We live far away from family & I feel so alone most days. He often makes commitments to me that is clearly from that secret life. I know he's taking to the other woman. Yet, there are times when he doesn't remember me or where he is. Counseling requires both of us to be able to communicate. Our financial situation was really terrible but better now. Tthoughts of his past, so separate from my own are driving me in & out of depression/despair. I have no one, professionally I can talk to. His church does not know nor his immediate family. I know only what I found in his phone about the other woman. He admitted the affair. Clearly repentance & Godley sorrowful. But is no help with healing our marriage. I'm up & down. I need help. We've be. married 39 years this April.

    Charles R Peek,

"Neither of the two Scripture tell you how to be saved"

Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, however, you seem insistent on

distinguishing your preference for 1Corinthians15. Now why is that? Why are

you insisting a narrow view of what God uses to "save" lost people when God

has provided so many verses that he uses to lead people to himself through

his son? It seems to me your focus on this issue is to create a right and

wrong way on the matter of what to tell lost people. Am I right about that?

Suppose God chooses to begin leading a person to himself with Amos4:12?

Clearly the Lord Jesus left Nicodemus to ponder a second birth, and not

the sign of Jonah, as he also said would be for Israel. God has never been

limited to demonstrate grace in a particular age. Rather, it is we who make

distinctions, for the purpose of distinguishing Gods revealed methods of

demonstrating his presence in our time period on earth. The whole of God's

word is for all people to see him as he wills it so. I understand

dispensationalism to organize a view of Gods history with man, but his

salvation work is not so limited in his sovereign exercise of gracious love.

Thank you Mark. I suppose Jesus' Wrists were pierced & nailed to the tree, as nails in the palm of the hand would just tear through the flesh because of the weight of the body. Then reading John 20:25-27, would mean His Wrists, rather than hands.

  • Taking Charge in your own Growth as a Christian - In Reply on Luke 6 - 4 years ago
My goal has always been to know who Jesus is; what he is like; how he responds to people's questions; arguments. What he is showing us about what we are to be doing. Mainly, becoming a follower of him and his known will. The more we read, study, watch some sermons online or listen to them on the radio. Start in the Gospels, spend extra time in the gospel of John. Follow Jesus's disciples in Acts. Head towards the back of the Bible. The Book of Proverbs gives wisdom. Psalms gives us comfort and information of what God is like. The entire Bible is about Jesus; from cover to cover.

To read Commentaries about a specific chapter & verse: type scripture and verse in Google, then type 'Commentary' or History, if that's what you want to know. I generally pick a commentary from the first 7 listed. Don't be afraid to dig a little. Always compare books to what the Bible says. The Bible is the bottom line TRUTH.

You can always ask questions in this room. The REPLY will be sent to your email.

Explore this websites tools for studying. To read all the Rapture verses: type Caught Up in the search Box. Or, Last Days, Marriage, Divorce; whatever you want more answers for.

Read some of peoples personal testimonies from the LINKS out on the red page.

Make this website work better for your studies.

Personally, I turn off the TV and make time for reading. Get a notebook and take notes. Learn how to sing to the Lord. Most Important: always ask the Holy Spirit to teach you; ask Him questions. He is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus went to the Cross to give the Holy Spirit to us to perfect our learning of Who Jesus is in our life.

Sit still for an hour before the Lord. Pray and then listen. You will grow mightily in understanding. Read Malachi 3:16-18

Every conversation we join in with others, praising And talking about how good God is: is recorded in a book that God reads.

    Michael

Chris, the bible does say he was nailed to the stake or tree at mark 15:25 and also at matthew 27:35.he would have had his arms straight above him and nails through his wrists.
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 5:30 - 4 years ago
That's very interesting, Mark. Are you suggesting that Jesus hung on a tree (i.e. nailed to its trunk) & not with arms widespread, as it would be on a T shaped structure? If so, how should we account for the nails pierced into his hands/wrists?
  • Chris - In Reply on Galatians 5 - 4 years ago
Yes, it is generally understood & widely accepted that John, son of Zebedee, the disciple & apostle of Jesus, was the writer of the vision he received in The Revelation, as well as the writer of the three epistles (1,2,3 John).
