What dose it mean to have the testimony of Christ confirmed in us.

what is the testimony of Christ.

It must be recognized by someone for what it is . and i believe its more than just a Name..it must have something to do with his character.

The scripture tells us its enough for a servant to be as his master ...

I believe that the testimony of Christ is how he lived what he did and how he did it. and that testimony is the same for us for we are to abide in Christ and manifest his life in ourselves

7500(3:22)+8600(3:28)+6200(3:34)=22300, however 3:39 said the total number was 22000.

It was wondered whether the 300 discrepancy could be caused from Levites were died during the census as commited idol worship of Gold calf or an inherent miscount.

Chris this is a quote from your comment--"Fornication cannot take place within marriage - if there is unfaithfulness, then it's called adultery."

How do you explain the following?

The following verse gives a man and his wife instructions not to sin. "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord" ( Colossians 3:18). This indicates a man and his wife can do what is unfit and the cross reference to "as it is fit in the Lord" refers one to Ephesians 5:3, "But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you." Throughout scripture many verses tell a man and his wife there is a form of sexual behavior they should not engage in.

Fornication is clearly defined in Jude 1:7 as being the sex in Sodom and Gomorrah. "Sodom and Gomorrah giving themselves over to fornicationare set forth for an example." So we can see that God forbids all men and women, including husbands and wives to use their bodies for fornication. This truth is reinforced and made clear in 1 Corinthians 6:13 where it declares, "The body is not made for fornication, but for the Lord.

How can a wife and her husband commit adultery with each other as you tell us they can.?

Revelation 13:2-3 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

    1 Corinthians 12:29

26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily PROPHETS, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

    Wesley's Notes for 1 Corinthians 12:29

12:27 Now ye - Corinthians. Are the body and members of Christ - part of them, I mean, not the whole body.

12:28 First apostles - Who plant the gospel in the heathen nations. Secondly prophets - Who either foretel things to come, or speak by extra - ordinary inspiration, for the edification of the church. Thirdly teachers - Who precede even those that work miracles. Under prophets and teachers are comprised evangelists and pastors, # Eph 4:11|. Helps, governments - It does not appear that these mean distinct offices: rather, any persons might be called helps, from a peculiar dexterity in helping the distressed; and governments, from a peculiar talent for governing or presiding in assemblies.

12:31 Ye covet earnestly the best gifts - And they are worth your pursuit, though but few of you can attain them. But there is a far more excellent gift than all these; and one which all may, yea, must attain or perish.

Mishael: it is God who chooses the ministry gifts. Verse 28. We recognize them by their "fruits": what they do or say. Prophesy from God, is always true. Fleshly prophesy never produces truth. Worship the Gift Giver (GOD).

I just finished Ephesians, reading about the armor of God. The sword is the word of God. Here is where I get a little upset. I have read the Bible a few times, I am in my 60's with not a great memory. Some things stay with me but I forget so much. What if God needs me to fight but I can't remember verses. Now if you mention something in the Bible I can tell you all about it. I have prayed so hard on this. Any thoughts?

I agree with Adam that 1John 5:7 is truth and indisputable, in my view the Holy Ghost speaks to our conscience, that guilty feeling we get when we've done wrong, and as Christians he guides and convicts us to return back to the narrow road to the cross. In John 16 you'll notice that when Jesus talks of the Holy Ghost (Spirit of truth) he calls him, "he", and not it, because he is a separate being as in trinity (triune). In John 16:13 Jesus says that he will not speak of himself. The best description I've heard on the trinity was on one of Billy Graham's sermons, he described as in water, you have liquid, ice, and vapor, all three are different and separate forms but all are the same as in H2O. John chapters 14, 15, and 16 are good reads on the Comforter, (Holy Ghost)

    I hope this helps

Ephesians Chapter 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

John 14:26 "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." 14 "He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you."

May the Lord bless you & strengthen your mind & spirit in this very important matter, Alec. So many Christians lead defeated lives, not just in the matter of sin consuming them, but being insecure in their salvation, fearing that their prayer hasn't been heard or God refuses to forgive them.

It's all of God's Grace: He initiated His Plan for you, He put it in place for you through Jesus His Only Begotten Son, Jesus laid down His Life for you - can it possibly be that He would now refuse you access into His Love & Forgiveness? NEVER. Or else God has failed in His Love & Promises. And yes, we are 'brutal', for we wield the Sword of the Lord (His Word), with joy & confidence in His Truth - His Truth has set us free & the same Truth will set you free of any doubts & concerns you have now or in the future. Hold on tightly to Him - our sailing on the waters of life is never promised to be smooth & trouble-free, but our Captain will always be at the helm to ensure our safety. And He certainly can be trusted. See you on the other side my friend.

Hi Sheryl, I second what Mild Bill said, and to add to that, If a person is living in sin he or she might want to examine themselves, they shouldn't be in bondage to sin. Romans 6:1-6. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 8:10-15. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Thanks

Thanks Chris, I guess the best way to hit the matter head on is with the word, I heard J Vernon Mcgee say the word of God is like a lion in a cage, He don't need a guard just let the lion out and he will take care of himself. It's disturbing to see people attack some vital areas of the Bible, where there is important lessons to learn, for instance, Whats more important? What was Adams sin or the covering made or skin God made Adam and Eve? There's a lot to learn from the word naked and how it's used, I thank you guys on this site for all that you do. Thanks again, God bless.

When I was a teenager and a member of a local church my pastor said this. If you cannot decide if something is right or wrong ask yourself the question, If all people were to do what you are thinking of doing would the world be better off or worse off? If all people were homosexual that would be the end of the human race.

This passage is speaking about the priests, who did service in the Tabernacle. They were, by their position, set apart (sanctified) to attend to holy things (within the Tabernacle, to touch the utensils, offer sacrifices, etc.). If they should defile themselves with the dead (i.e. touch a dead body, assist at a funeral or even partake in a funeral feast, they would be considered polluted). Not that a dead body can materially pollute another, but that the position of the priest compelled him to remain segregated from anything that defiled, including the consumption of strong drink. Reading the rest of that chapter & then into chapter 22, will reveal some more qualifications & things to do & not do, for the priest of God.

However, for those of his kin who died, he was allowed to attend to them, whether arranging their funeral, coming near to them or demonstrating sorrow for his loss. But this concession applied to the priests only - the High Priest was not included & had to separate himself from all people who died.

I fully agree with you, dear brother. This is indeed a great Site & I notice that much licence is given to present our views, however sincere or insincere they may be. Yet, the Spirit in us, as was given to the apostles & those apprehended by Christ, demands that all heresy & violence against God's Word must be confronted, challenged & systematically refuted. If we don't, then we're no better than the believer who refuses (whether from apathy or ignorance) to stand up against the tide of sin & social ills that plague our societies, indeed within the very walls of our Fellowships.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. May we be inspired to seek out & root out anything that demeans or disfigures God's Word, or violates the Beauty & Glory of God, for we don't know who the readers are: I always think that some poor, searching, hungry soul is in a desperate condition that the Lord' Spirit has brought here to this Site - do they then get fed from the Word & go on in their journey satisfied & in victory, or left in greater confusion & despair? We might have a lot to answer for by what & how we share over here. The Lord bless you in your studies & wisdom shared here.
