When you say they died but did not fall, my Bible states that they fell. 1 Corinthians 10:8 "Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousands." What version do you read? I use the KJV. They had to be upright before they fell. God tells us if sinners entice thee, do not consent. If you do not consent then you do not fall. But is you consent to commit fornication you will fall.

  • Marilyn Taplin - In Reply on John 17 - 4 years ago
You say, "at which time they too would receive the Holy Spirit & go out on their Mission in the Spirit's Power."

Once again we need a definition of the Holy Spirit. What is the Spirit's power?

Luke 18: 19, " Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good , save one, this is, God"

Yes, this is the correct scripture and doesn't it say only God is good. Didn't Jesus say don't call me good?
  • Ian - In Reply on Isaiah 30:1 - 4 years ago
Isaiah 30:1 is referring to the Holy Spirit as the only legitimate covering for a person.

1 Chorinthians 2 Verses 1 and 2 are an exhortation to follow Christ. Verses 3-15 state a practice that was prevalent

in the Chorinthian church and the reasons to justify it.

Verse 16 states that what is described in verses 3-15 does not come from God - 'But if any man seem to be

contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.'
  • Marilyn Taplin - In Reply on Isaiah 26 - 4 years ago
I do believe everything in the Bible is true. The Bible becomes more easily understood when we understand the difference between God and Satan--between truth and lies. There are only two powers humans can serve, either God or Satan. There is no other choice.
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Luke 8:14 - 4 years ago
    Marilyn Taplin,"

"only God in heaven is good", You have misquoted the Lord Jesus as translated in the KJV, because you added "in heaven", which is not in any of the three gospels Matthew 19:17, Mark 10:18 or Luke 18:19, See for yourself.
  • The Holy Ghost on Ephesians 5 - 4 years ago
All things (being waves or winds or quakes or plagues) are the fulfilling of GOD'S law and prophecy. Christ is not come to destroy the law or the prophets: but to fulfill the Holy Father's will. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. GOD saves every soul of all flesh by the coming and resurrection of Jesus Christ, according to his promise in the Gospel. Remember, They which are the children of the flesh, these ARE not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed (according to the Holy Scriptures.) The Fear of THE LORD is to hate evil and pride is evil. Carnal man is without the Spirit of Christ, being merely human (by its own interpretation) and subject to the wrath of GOD. It is the son of perdition, having many members. So tribulation in the world can only increase lest any cleave to pride and die in their sins. For GOD is faithful to the faithful but IS angry with the wicked every day. GOD is merciful to the merciful, but froward to the froward. For the Church in Christ also has many members, none being carnal man. This present evil world is hell: and is subject to the lake of fire upon the redemption of the eight remaining souls. Mankind deceived itself by imagining it can prolong it's evasion of much punishment, and it's damnation, as it did not see, nor believe, the salvation of many (for it walks by sight, not by faith in Christ.) For the salvation of all flesh is the Gospel of the Lord Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. He shall say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (mankind and it's ministers.) So it is written: Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish FROM the way, when his wrath is kind but a little. Blessed ARE all they that put their trust in him.

    Hi K Smith,

Jesus said, " Don't call me good, only God in heaven is good." So Jesus needed to be baptized. Then he said he would build a church without spot or wrinkle. Spots and wrinkles are two degrees of sin. Wrinkles are not as great as spots. Spots are a trespass. To trespass is to go too far and God leaves that person. One example of a wrinkle is David when he committed adultery. He did not leave God and God did not leave David. God departs from those who commit evil, the sex of Sodom and Gomorrah. They have spots or you could say they have spiritual leprosy. When we have a church without spot or wrinkle no one will sin a wrinkle size sin or a spot size sin.

You have to trust in God ,just because a situation seems unfavourable to you doesnt mean that it is ,God knows all things from ever lasting to ever lasting ,whatever is going on in your life you must trust that God will put you where you are supposed to be according to his purpose for you ,pray for His mercy and for His will to be done in your life ,He always knows what and where is best for you better than you yourself do .

the dead in Christ will rise first means that those who where believers but that have fallen asleep (died) before Christ's return shall be raised up before those believers that are still alive. those who are still alive will be taken up into the air and transformed!!! pretty awesome to think about!!

But don't forget the significates for John baptizing Jesus. Jesus was without sin so why did he come to John to be baptized? ( Matthew 3:14)

Because revealing him as the Messiah, the Christ, through him (John) he had to be baptized by John.

John did not yet understand that Jesus was actually stepping into the sinners' shoes. And there, where the covenant breakers were confessing their sins, those sins passed onto Jesus and He became sin-laden in our stead. He became the scapegoat for us.

The scripture identify this body we live in as a tent, this body goes back to ground in which it came, our spirit goes to be with the Lord is the way I understand it. And yes you should Know that you have eternal life, If not that would contuary to faith. That's why we have entered into his rest. 1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. Ephesians 1:13-14. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of PROMISE,

    Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22. Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 5:4-6. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Therefore we are always CONFIDENT. knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: Philippians 1:6. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: If I had to trust in me I couldn't be confident, but God already paid down on his procession and sealed my destiny and he gave me the spirit of promise, and will redeem his purchase. Thats why we can't loose our salvation, it's not in our hands to fumble, it's in God's. To say you can't know is contuary to our faith. God is faithful. And when we are saved it will manifest im our mortal bodies, Romans 8:11. A live branch bare good fruit, We may not be perfect but there is a transformation taking place, and "POSITIONALLY" sanctified. THX

There were no people before Adam and Eve as we know people made in the image and likeness of God. Cain married his sister or another family member. All human life stems from Adam and subsequently from Noah and family.

Yvonne, you must forgive! In my experience, the best way is to pray for that person when feelings of hatred set in. Truth be told, a Christian won't wish hell on their worst enemy, you know in your heart that Jesus died for this person, how can you then not forgive them? Forgiveness can become a wonderful habit, which is beneficial to your own spirit and is healthy for your body as well. God Bless.

That's a great biography to read, of Sadhu Sundar Singh, especially of his conversion & relentless ministry with the Gospel.

John the Baptist knew that he was only "a voice crying in the wilderness" & that his short-term ministry was to alert men to their sins & their need of the (coming) Saviour. Once Jesus' ministry began, John's ministry would slowly fade away - though of course, we know that he shortly afterwards was beheaded by Herod.

So when John's disciples reported to John that Jesus was baptizing & people were being drawn to him, they thought to themselves that Jesus was over-reaching His authority by doing this & usurping John's ministry. But John explained to them that he (John) was simply the announcer & introducer of Jesus, that Jesus was the 'bridegroom' coming to make up His bride, & John was merely the 'friend of the bridegroom'. So in this vein, it was always in God's Plan that His Son would increase in His influence & ministry to the people, while John's work would now end with Jesus' arrival.

I dont think that there are many people who are either totally good or totally evil ,we are all a mixture of both ,we are all sinners which is why we need Jesus ,right up to the last moment Jesus loved Judas ,Jesus will have washed Judas feet with love ,God doesnt give up on any of us no matter how horrible we are and we are all horrible sometimes ,Only Jesus is sinless .
  • Chris - In Reply on John 17 - 4 years ago
Indeed, Jesus is the Way, the only Way to God ( John 14:6) & we ought to have only one Church teaching the same as Jesus did. Yet, even though most will agree to Jesus being the only way, other suggestions have since cropped up to help us make sure that we do get to Heaven. Praying to the saints & departed loved ones, doing good works, purgatory, etc. are all believed in to guarantee acceptance. Yet all these things take away from the complete work of Jesus at the Cross & God's accepting it so that we might be forgiven. So by adding to our salvation, we actually remove Jesus from being the only Way to God.

As Jesus & His disciples travelled about, there would be occasions where they may have found some people who gave them shelter for the night, but not all would have aligned themselves with Jesus, especially because of pressure from the Jewish religious leaders to refuse Jesus. So when there was no roof to sleep under, maybe under trees or in caves became their overnight stop. It was a hard life indeed, but God's Message needed to go out, God's Power & Presence needed to be seen & God's Sacrifice needed to be offered - nothing, even lack of a roof, would deter Jesus in His Mission & His disciples would have learned many great lessons as well during their travels & hardships that would have stood them well, at which time they too would receive the Holy Spirit & go out on their Mission in the Spirit's Power.
