The above scripture is powerful, it shows the mind of God for everything He created that He wants them to be alive, virile and healthy, remain productive all through the years. However, i think that sin has changed the plans for mankind. Famine both in the spirit and physical have led to a total change in the plan. I don't know if this scripture is being practiced anywhere again in the land of the living, it does not alter the plans of God. I sincerely pray that Christians will not be judged by this scripture.

Individually we make plans & projections running through each 7th year of our existence... moreso has dispensation of Grace covered the exclusion from living this scripture?

Why would someone claim to be a Jew who is not?

    So, answer this:

Why would the Antichrist claim to be the Messiah but is not?

Why would the serpent claim Eve could eat of the fruit and not die when that was not true?

    Why do people lie?

Because Satan is the father of all lies and deception and he rules earth. He is trying to deceive people in order to separate them from God. You seem like you don't realize that pretty much EVERYONE IS LYING TO YOU. If they are not Christian, they are lying to you. Period. The TV lies, books lie, science lies, government lies, everyone is lying to you. If you believe the lies, then you do not have the Spirit of Truth in you. That is the only way one can discern lies and deceit. And 99% of what you hear and see will be half-truths or lies or disinformation or misinformation, so question everything.

In Exodus 23:10,11, we read: "And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard."

This seventh year of rest was based on the sabbath rest commanded to Israel, whereby they worked for six days & rested on the seventh for the recuperation of mind & body. Likewise, the land was to be 'rested' (i.e. no plowing, seeding or harvesting), & whatever grew from the previous year's harvest, from the rains, were not to be harvested, but left for the poor to gather for themselves & as food for the wild animals. In this way also, it gave the soil time to rejuvenate & to not always be depleted of its nutrients. Today, farmers use crop rotation or a multiple field rotation so that the land remains healthy & productive.

I don't assume that Christmas is a pagan holiday. It has become a pagan holiday, forgetting the real reason for the holiday.
  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 5 years ago
In Genesis 1:26, we see the plurality of God in that great creative work of mankind. We know that Jesus was also involved in creation ( Colossians 1:15,16) & that mankind was to bear the image of the Deity. When Jesus took on humanity, that 'exterior' image faded but the full Image & Being of the Godhead was not diminished.

In Genesis 1:27, we read that "God created man in his OWN Image", which I don't see as presenting any problem as it's still the self-same God in His Triunity that created man to bear His Image.

Then in Genesis 3:22 we read, "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil". Here again, God brings in the Fullness of His Being, as created man stepped outside of God's Will & now able to discern between good & evil, & has further taken on another aspect of God. Man lost his innocence by his sinning against God.

The above verses reveal to us the triunity of God, but when we get to Genesis 11:7, we read: "Let US go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." We can't be sure who went with God to do this work: was it Jesus as God's Word, or the angels or some Beings of Heaven, we don't know. Since it didn't involve the creation of someone or something to bear His Image, we could understand that others were involved at the Tower of Babel.

To reply to Rev Dr Peter Djabeng Question on Wisdom of Solomon 1: Solomon fell victim to females because of his

struggle with his flesh. His father David also had a weakness for females. This did not take away from the fact that

Solomon is the wisest to live and that God still granted him this wisdom, for Solomon was righteous and loved God and

was given a gift of wisdom, as God gives all of us gifts. We are humans and are flawed. God knows this. Be encouraged.

    Hi Betty,

Why do you assume December 25th is a 'pagan' day and not a Christian day? Are you 100% sure it wasn't a Christian day already before others started pretending it was instead 'their' day? Should Christians then cower and yield to evil everytime evil challenges them?

What if you researched and found that every day of the year could be associated with some kind of witchcraft, pagan, satanic, or other evil forces, does that mean Christians should never do anything ever again? What if the opposite happened- that Christians stopped being afraid and stood up and boldly celebrated Jesus?

Christmas is the #1 holiday in the world and it is a Christian holiday. To many it is the only time they hear about Jesus- some for the first time. Yes, it's imperfect and some people distort and commercialize and mass up the message, but you have to admit it gets through, and people have a lot of associations with love, family, and Jesus. Why would you want to take away? If someone's goal is to remove the one opportunity some have to learn about Jesus are they doing the work of God or of satan?

So, if we don't know precisely what day Jesus was born is that a reason to stop all celebrating of Jesus on Christmas?
  • Chris - In Reply on Hebrews 1 - 5 years ago
I would be interested to learn of which 'worlds' you're thinking of. I've heard of folk believing that other worlds or even another creation of people on this Earth, exist, so am always watchful of any true, biblical references that can support these theories.
  • Chris - In Reply on Matthew 6 - 5 years ago
Yes Johnny, you've understood this verse well. The point was that if we are genuinely concerned for another (whether a homeless person, a minister of God's Word, a poor friend or relative), we will do it quietly, even inconspicuously, because our motive is from love & that the praise from that needy person, goes to the Lord for touching some heart to help another one out. By alerting others to our 'good, generous acts of love' may indicate a false or dual motive for giving, to which the Lord says that you will not receive the praise of God.

Though I think that from your experience the Lord's sees your conviction over this matter & the lesson you've learned, so that God's blessings will be multiplied to you for your consideration of others in the future. Blessings.

This act of deciding on Judas' replacement may seem ominous. But this was simply another way of showing how they arrived at their decision after coming together & in prayer. It would be like us casting our vote for a political candidate - they cast their vote for one of two candidates, but the "lot" (the final count, which may well have been the full count) fell upon Matthias. So Matthias was to be accepted as a worthy & equal apostle as the other eleven.
  • Chris - In Reply on John 3:36 - 5 years ago
The 'worlds' are the 'worlds of the Universe', i.e. the planets, stars, asteroids, etc. And Jesus was involved in their creation (also see Colossians 1:15-17).
  • Chris - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 5 years ago
Fornication is not the deciding sin which makes one a sinner or not. All whom you have mentioned, except Jesus, committed sin because they, like us, were born into sin. Romans 5:12: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned". Not only has sin (specifically, the sin nature) been imputed to all coming into the world, but the fact that we all die (both physically & spiritually) confirms the fact that we are in the process of dying from the moment of our birth. The only reason that Jesus died physically was because He took on humanity & placed Himself in the easy reach of evil men, for the purpose of becoming man's only Way to Eternal Life.

I have yet to meet a family who was able to raise children from birth to adulthood, having not committed sin. We don't need a "Christianity that will teach all people how to not fall", we need to be more vibrant & vigilant in sharing the Gospel to all that they may not fall into the pit of Hell.

And 1 Corinthians 10:8 speaks about the 23,000 who 'DIED', not fell into sin. These were not 'upright' people at all - they were downright sinners altogether & were so judged.

If I could add to the other very pertinent accurate comments given you. You would have read further & your heart should have been comforted to know the circumstances to which this letter was referring to. In a nutshell, the answer is in verse 29.

The writer was agonizing over some Jewish converts (to whom this letter was primarily directed to), who wouldn't let go of Judaism entirely & were in danger of abandoning the faith & reverting back to Judaism. Therefore, the writer took great pains to again explain to them the superiority of Jesus Christ Who gives life & the superiority of Christianity, over the 'old religion' which under Moses' Law only brought death (v 28). One can see the writer's desperate plea to them in verses 19-25. Then, even with all this, the warning went out: "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins...Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"

The writer says that if they "sin wilfully after receiving the Truth, there's no more hope". What is this sin being written about, as we know that God is merciful & will always forgive us because of His Son's Sacrifice? The sin that is referred to is of APOSTASY: these converts were on the cusp of rejecting Christ & reverting back to Judaism - if they did, there was no other Sacrifice on offer (nor could be) that they could grab onto for salvation. If Judaism was their goal, then they would perish under the Law's penalty. See Hebrews 6:4-6, where a similar warning went out, of the impossibility to find salvation in any other or of returning back to Christ. If they so despised Christ (10:29) & turned their backs to Him, their end would be fearful.

Alec, these verses are not for you - you can rejoice in being forgiven.

Do you believe that man has been making this change? When did this happen, since both the Holy Ghost & Holy Spirit are mentioned throughout Scripture? Or, maybe you sense that the 'Spirit' is in wider use than 'Ghost'? The word "Ghost" means 'Spirit' as you know, so it should not be a problem when either Name is used. What does trouble me, is the wide use of 'Holy' & being associated with other things, e.g. Holy cow/smoke/mackerel/Moses, etc. I do get quite disturbed by this. Do you?

Why do Christians continue to celebrate Christmas on December 25 when it is based on paganism? Why doesn't the church teach why That day was chosen as Jesus' birthday? The truth needs to be taught.

Ecclesiastes 3:18 "I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts."

Ecclesiastes 3:19 "For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. " Ecclesiastes 3:20 "All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. " Ecclesiastes 3:21 "Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?"

Hi Alec, Sometimes the hardest people to forgive is ourselves, we know all too well our weakness and short comings, I haven't lived a life on drugs but can attest to a lot of short comings that I'm ashamed of and deserve the punishment of hell, but for as great a sinner that I am, I have a greater Savior that suffered on the cross for me, and all I need to do is repent and believe. When you look at the apostles, they spent three years with Jesus witnessing His preaching's and miracles, and yet when Judas betrayed Jesus, they were scattered, and Peter denied him three times. Just because we say that we're Christian and believe doesn't mean that we're not going to ever sin again, but when we do sin, we need to pray for forgiveness. I also believe that in times of doubt or weakness, that the Holy Spirit is there to comfort us and also to convict us through our conscience to keep us on the narrow road to the Cross. When you say you have the feeling of fear coming over you, maybe it's the Holy Spirit, telling you to come back to the Cross, count this as a blessing, because it sound like you're on the narrow road, and He wants to keep you there.

May God bless you on your journey.

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"

Matthew 18:21 "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?" Matthew 18:22 "Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."

    Brother Mild Bill,

Thanks for your comments, but you're completely misinterpreting what I have written about our Lord Jesus - Jesus is God and besides Jesus there is none other. I believe you believe in the Trinity - a false doctrine. I believe Jesus is our God, Lord and Savior.

    .

Now tell me what you believe, if you don't mine.
  • Randy - In Reply on Hebrews 10 - 5 years ago
First of all, if you feel the Lord calling you back, why would you be afraid to return? As it say's, we will all be judged and I have the same story behind me. It would be more fearful to never feel that call and stay in the world of sin than to return as did the prodigal son. This passage has tormented me too many times but the rest of scripture assures me that God is always ready to accept repentance.
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Romans 6 - 5 years ago
    Robert Malit,

I've read your other posts and facination with the supernatural, so I know what it is that your find thrilling about Jesus. As Simon of Samaria was mistaken, you are also. You may will yourself to "live in his image", and dupe others to believe as you do, basically a Catholiscism teaching, but you need salvation by the grace of God, through the sacrifice of his son on the cross, and as of now, I see you enmeshed in a works based faith. Jesus is more importantly the Savior, who has paid in full the price for sinners to be saved. Not some model or simply a teacher with a method for us to enter heaven. Adding your work to his, means in effect, he has not done enough to pay for all your sins. Is that really what you believe?

    Hello

Can someone explain what is meant in vs 27 that fearful looking for judgement is? I can't seem to shake that feeling of not being forgiven or going to far. the writer was talking to Hebrews and is that the context we should take? If so how do I apply these lessons to my life. I have asked for forgiveness and know that i am forgiven but a feeling of fear comes over me at times and it is a scary one. Can someone who has backslidden and lived a life of a drug addict like myself come back and really find forgiveness I knew better so I am without excuse and deserve to be sent to hell, but I really feel the Lord calling me back, there are times I am bold like proverbs 28 says to be, but other times I am almost over come with a paralyzing fear.
  • Marilyn Taplin - In Reply on Ephesians 2 - 5 years ago
Man is not evil from birth. Moses gave us two sets of Commandments and told us to teach them to our children and they will grow up and grow old and never depart from God. We are holy from birth and all people need to be taught how to remain holy. How can a person fall is they are not upright to begin with? How can a person depart from God if they are not with him to begin with? In 1 Cor. 10:8 we are told how we fall, "Neither let us commit fornication, as some...and fell in one day 23,000." They had to be upright before they fell. Many biblical characters are upright such as Noah, Job, Jacob, Jesus, and Abraham and others. They did not fall, because they did not commit fornication.

We need a Christianity that will teach all people how to not fall. On my website I explain that more fully.
