In Genesis chapter 10, you get a full chapter detailing all the people that began to multiply after the Ark finally rested on Ararat. Then in chapter 11, we take a step back to see that all those came after Noah & his sons remained together in their journeyings until they came to the land of Shinar (in the Babylonian region). It was here that they decided to build a city for themselves & a tower as a huge symbol of unification. But we know the story, as the Lord confused their common language as this was in contradiction to what God planned that they should go out & fill the Earth. This confusion forced them to separate into groups of single language & spread out to other parts of the region. And so that place was called Babel.

High places in the OT are associated with worshipping idols, most often false gods. The Canaanites worshipped their gods on high places which were basically hills that were sometimes artificially made for that purpose. These hills would often have some sort of altar at the top, surrounded by groves of trees and Asherah poles, pillars, or standing stones. Their worship often consisted of burnt offerings, incense, feasts and festivals, cult prostitution, and child sacrifice.

God had often warned His people of imitating the heathen in these practises but only confine themselves at the prescribed places for worship. Even after the Tabernacle was built, where God met with the High Priest at the Ark of the Testimony, & later the building of the Temple by Solomon, people still through the years resorted to creating their own worship places.

Today, some religions still have their worship structures built at higher elevations. Some examples are: The great Pagoda atop Thailand's Doi Inthanon mountain; Taung Kalat Monastery in Myanmar (Burma); The Hanging Temple in Shanxi, China; The Roussanou Monastery in Greece; Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe Chapel in France. By building these, the structures not only become central & visible to all & a focus of veneration & worship, but also give the sense of being closer to God. All these things detract from knowing & worshipping the True God.

But to the child of God, the Lord desires that the 'high places' in our thoughts & deep in our hearts be removed. That is, anything that would substitute for the lordship of God in our lives, where we give Him equal or second place in how we think & behave, rather than the first place. The NT speaks against being 'high minded': Romans 11:20, 1 Timothy 6:17, 2 Timothy 3:4 all show that such a state of mind & behaviour are contrary to the desires of God for us. Rather, to be like His Son: Philippians 2:3-11.

Hi John. You are correct to a degree but you don't have the complete picture. True, the thief on the cross wasn't baptized. He only received the blood. To this day that thief will remain a baby Christian as he never had the opportunity to grow in God. There are different levels in God's kingdom meant for different degrees of saved Christian. The thief went to paradise. this is only one level you can grow to in God. But if you want to receive the prize of the high calling ( Phil 3:14 and 1 Cor 9:24) you have to go beyond the gifts which is the common salvation ( Rom 10:9-10) and grow according to the tabernacle which includes baptism. When you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour according to Romans 10:9-10. He washes away our sins and creates a new BABY heart within our old heart. This NEW heart is perfect and cannot sin. ( Eph 4:24) Out old heart doesn't disappear automatically or immediately ( Mark 7:21). The journey now starts where the old heart has to die and the new heart has to grow. Only as we crucify the old heart (the flesh) daily can the new heart grow within us. Paul said die daily". This is why many Christians still exhibit anger, resentment, gossiping, betrayal" they haven't repented and died daily. It is a process of repenting, not an instantaneous gift of the spirit.

This is the principal of growing in God according to Moses' tabernacle which has 7 pieces of furniture and is laid out in the form of a cross. It is a picture of the more perfect tabernacle which is Jesus. ( Heb 9:11). First is the brazen altar where the sacrifices were slain (Jesus) A picture of accepting Jesus blood sacrifice. After the Sacrifice was slain, Fire came forth from God and lit upon the sacrifice, which is a picture of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire. Also, in the outer Court was the Brazen Laver where the Priests washed once, outwardly, which is a picture of Water Baptism in the Name, Death, and Life of Jesus Christ. For the Jews & those today (me excluded) who believe in maintaining the Sabbath Day, then there's no stipulation about remaining in one's house. The Jewish leaders of Jesus' day decreed that a Jew could walk (not ride a donkey) from their 'city limits' as far as 2000 cubits (= 3,500 ft, or 0.6 mile) on the Sabbath. Then some others proposed a further law: that if there were houses within that distance of .6 mile, then if the distance between each house was no more than 112 ft, then one could keep walking. This means, if a Jew planned his trip well, he could actually travel between two cities or communities if there were some appropriately placed houses in-between.

So if you believe that you need to "keep the Sabbath", then there should be no problem about moving about, whether around your home or within the city. The key feature of the Sabbath was that no manual work was to be performed or any engagement in buying or selling of goods. And certainly in an emergency or doing another some good, Jesus gave the authority to reach out & to work ( Matthew 12:10-14).

We today can return daily to the altar (repentance) and the laver (baptism) daily to be washed (cleansed) of our attitudes and flesh and receive fresh fire from God.

Linda, to answer your question simply put, no. Jesus said in ( John 3:3) "Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God." meaning that we must some how be reborn to go to heaven. Some will assert that ( John 3:5) shows that we must be baptized by water, and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be saved, This is easily refuted with scripture. Remember God cannot lie ( Titus 1:2) Therefore, Scripture cannot contradict itself. If God required baptism for salvation, then Jesus Christ lied to the thief on the cross. ( Luke 23:43) Jesus IS God ( John 1:1). He CANNOT lie. God made the way to heaven very simple, so easy that even a child can understand and accept. It is not based on our works ( Ephesians 2:8-9) but on our faith in Christ and His FINISHED work on the cross. We must first understand that we are a sinner in need of a Savior. ( Romans 3:23) ... When we see that there is a penalty for our sin. ( Romans 6:23) That we cannot pay the penalty on our own, but Jesus Christ, loved us so much that He came, lived the perfect life, fulfilled the law, and became sin for us on the cross to pay our sin debt for us. ( Romans 5:8) Then believing the gospel by faith, we accept the GIFT of God, confess our belief in Him, and ask Him to save us. ( Romans 10:9-13) There are MEN who will take God's gift and want to say that in order to receive it you will need to do this or that, but whenever we add WORKS to the equation the GIFT ceases to be a gift. Repentance is a turning from self and a turning toward Christ.

When you except Christ, when you take him into your heart, this is your baptism! You will be baptized with fire. Your soul will identify immediately with his holy spirit! The actual water baptism as Christ commands is when you make it public! A public confession, before the world! Before the angels of God! Water baptism is a declaration that you have died and risen again in the spirit of Christ resurrection. It is not true that you are required to have water baptism! If it were true, we would have to physically die before we could receive the spirit of God! And that is not true! The spirit of God is very much alive! These things you will know when he comes for you.

"If we're going through the tribulation does the other books of the Bible matters " all the examples in the Bible of saints being spared from God's wrath would seem like fairy tales wouldn't it. This portion of Scripture isn't about "mutual suicide". We have the servants (no doubt, warriors) of Ishbosheth (pertaining to Israel) & those of David (pertaining to Judah) facing each other by the pool. The suggestion by Abner (of Israel) for their men to have some 'sword play' & had their larger bodies of warriors as spectators. Apparently, those 24 men all killed each other in this small battle & the ensuing (larger) battle that followed by the remaining armies, saw Israel losing altogether to David's army.

So I see that the intent of these armies facing each other was to do battle, but that little insert of the 24 men sparring with each other was just the 'taster' to start the battle going & not to commit suicide.

We war against spiritual darkness , even principalities! very important ,it is not flesh and blood! This is very good learning. You see I never know if the person I'm speaking to is real, if they know anything about God. Could this be spiritual darkness? We never know so we abide in the light of Gods word, and let the holy spirit do the rest!

As was said of Jesus, that He would have His heritage in Eve, of Abraham, of Jesse, made like unto his brethren, the root and offspring of David, tells me that as Mary had this Divine Seed developing in her, being nourished, experiencing all the normal feelings & movements of the Babe within & even bringing Him out in the normal way, is proof sufficient that this Holy Seed brought into the world by Mary had every right & claim to the Davidic line through Mary (& Joseph).

Does then the absence of a 'bloodline' preclude Jesus being what was claimed of Him? Would it be sufficient that a wholly Divine Jesus, born through a human agent, could be included in the lineage all the way back to Adam? Or, if there was a "bloodline" through Mary, would Jesus have a sinful nature as well? Aspects worthy of some thought to Jesus' qualification not only to be wholly Divine but also to His human descendancy.

Thanks for your input Bendito. The reference to 'seed' of course does mean as you suggested, but we have to allow for a wider meaning as prescribed from the Hebrew: which is, 'zera', & this includes 'child, descendant, posterity, race, etc.', as seen in other Scriptures showing this (e.g. Genesis 12:7 & others).

So we could read as you state that the Embryo that was Jesus in Mary's womb, was of her seed coupled with the Divine, or as I believe, that she only carried God's Seed to be brought out into the world. If she supplied her seed for the Word of God to become flesh, then Jesus would have been tainted with the sinful nature of humanity as I don't believe that Mary was sinless. To say that Jesus wouldn't have been so tainted then denies the transmission of the sin nature throughout humanity. Now I know that some believe that Jesus was born with a sin nature & during His testings with Satan & throughout His earthly sojourn, He resisted Satan so that He wouldn't feed that Nature & commit sin. I don't know if you subscribe to this view, but I believe that Jesus didn't have such a nature but His testings from Satan were to instil such a nature in Him as was done to Adam & Eve.

You also state: "Else he would have not truly been the Son of Man, but another life form." I couldn't quite get my head around this one: I understand that a human being can only be one from both the male & female contributions. If one part was of the Divine & the other human, does this also constitute a human being? Or, if both parts were Divine, could a human be formed in such manner? Or seen in another way, if God could create Adam from dust & Eve from his rib, can God not produce another human only from His compilation of seed(s)?

Hi David. A picture of salvation is like when you was a little walking across the street with you parents, you're in the middle and both parents have you by the hand, "they're holding your hands you're not holding theirs" . Jesus says in John ch 10; I give them eternal life and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, no man can pluck them out of my hand, my father which gave them me is greater than all and no man can pluck them out of my Father's hand. salvation is a gift for those who believe, but if you try to add to it you are attempting to hold their hand and you will always question your grip.

Mark, I hear you loud and clear. When we take our eyes off of him, Our flesh wars against our spirit! Not sure why , but its designed that way. Pretty sure this has something too do with the way he has created us. One thing for sure it will strengthen you for your next battle! This is why we are here ,to glorify him. The stronger you get , the more he is glorified! I like to refer to it as refined gold created in a faith, that will be worth even more! He will answer yours prayers in his own time. Remember that a soldier must bow, before his king! Most of all kneel in Honor. Be anxious for nothing! Be patient , be vigilant, be sober!
