Firstly, just considering the two types of Offering (amongst others as appointed to Israel to perform), that you referred to: the Burnt Offering was a daily, continual Offering made on the Altar by the Priest. It was done indicating the continuing, eternal position of Israel before their God & their full consecration to Him. Whereas the Sin Offering was, as the name suggests, an offering for the sins of the priest & the people. This was done yearly on the Day of Atonement, but also the Offering made at other times of the year, as required & as mentioned below.

In Leviticus chapter 12, we see the account of a new mother who is required to fulfil these Offering requirements. For the Burnt Offering, the mother indicated her gratitude to the Lord for His Mercies in child-bearing & delivery. Even as she remembered the 'curse' placed upon women because of Eve's transgression ( Genesis 3:16) & so the offering she made was in gratitude for God's Mercies upon her & bringing through this time of "sorrow in conception & birth".

She then offered the Sin Offering. Ordinarily, we couldn't justify such an offering as the bearing of child is not associated with any sin. However, Jews support the need for this offering by commenting, that in the event that a mother, in delivery sinned, whether in her mind or by her mouth, because of the pain she was experiencing, an offering was required to cover the sin. So this wasn't anything to do with the sin of Eve, but of some personal transgression committed at this time.

I'm absolutely disgusted by what I've seen and is hard to feel hopeful by such rampant evil. I was praying for this country to turn around. I think God is letting this country destroy itself and be humbled. God has seen sodomy openly embraced, idolatry of money and power by Washington and the swamp, rewarding criminals and releasing them from prisons, while putting people in prison for protecting themselves and their families or exercising their free speech, attacking of Christians and those with conservative values, openly cheating, lying, and deceiving, and pushing propaganda through the media to deceive the masses. I've never seen anything like this. I trust that God will punish those who need punishing, will allow evil to be exposed and protect those trying to follow Him.

    1 Corinthians 15:52

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

See the whole chapter when studying. In answer to your question, I think not. A twinkling is shorter than an eye blink; I was taught once.

The dead in Christ rise first; and then those alive in Christ, rise next. We are taken to heaven immediately. Millions or billions of people.

Don't procrastinate. It's time to turn to Jesus now with all of your heart.

He's not a fire insurance policy. He is offering you the free gift of salvation from your sins. A gift has to be received.

  • Rod - In Reply on James 2:3 - 5 years ago
James chapter 2 is one of those corner stones in our every day christian life, if you read the rest of the chapter it becomes self explanatory that Paul is talking about having respect (judging) of persons, as to what they wear, in other words he tells us to be aware of our own prejudices to people simply because one is dressed better than the other, we could even think of such things as racial prejudices that we see in today's world, rich and poor, and so on.

James 2:4 "Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?"

James 2:6 "But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?"

James 2:8 "If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:"

James 2:9 "But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors."

James 2:26 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

Because He is all of those and more...the names of God are numerous...He is God...healer, deliverer, Saviour, shepherd, bread of life, the Branch, the root of Jesse, Son of David, Son of Man, Bright Morning Star, Alpha and Omega, Wonderful Counselor, the Nazarene, Mighty God, Everlating Father, the Prince of Peace! There is no end to the list. He is all of those if you search the scriptures you will find this to be so. He is also named the Light of the world...the resurrection and the Life, the Way, the Truth, the Life...I love Him with all my heart!

I'm sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for your patience & gracious words earlier. I think you agree w/me insofar as whatever I've written that is Biblical, but God should get the credit.

What you ascribe to Lordship Salvation (LS) ("a correct understanding" of the Word) is what belongs to the true Gospel of grace, & what you describe is salvation (s) & discipleship (d) intermixed. LS teaches that d is part of & is basically proof of s. If so, then Paul would've not been saved (re. his flesh & sin in Rom. 7). We should want to obey God, but not one of us does this perfectly due to our flesh & the abuse of our free will.

Easy Believism is wrong, but so is LS. They are 2 faulty extremes of understanding the Gospel.

LSists at least imply that s is kept by good works. There tends to be a lot of double-talk. Beyond the links of my 1st msg., here I give 2 very condensed ex.'s.

"...[B]ut the keeping of the commandments is an instrument-a necessary instrument-through which the grace of God flows and keeps us in Christ, the principle of reward for us. Thus, we have to keep the commandments to be saved, but we understand it is only through grace that we can do so...St. Paul makes clear that if Christians allow themselves to be dominated by their 'flesh,' or lower nature, they will not make it to heaven...Here [re. Gal. 6:7] St. Paul teaches that through good works, or continuing to "sow to the Spirit," we will be rewarded with eternal life, but only if we persevere." - "Are Good Works Necessary for Salvation?" by Tim Staples (dated 4/30/15)

In "Faith, Works, and Regeneration, Paul Washer" (video-10/4/12 by "MrHarms" on YouTube), @ the 1:34-1:39 marks, Washer said, "If you don't have works, you're going to hell." Re. apple trees (at); I think that an at w/o fruit is still an at, for it has at DNA. See whole vids for context. (This 1 is an excerpt from "Paul Washer Evangelistic Message - DSFC 2012 (1-12-12)" (video-1/17/12 by "GraceBaptist1689").)

    Hope this helps, & thanks!

  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Revelation 15:8 - 5 years ago
Kevin, may the Holy Spirit grace you with (spiritual) understanding and (spiritual) wisdom.

1 Corinthians 15:45 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

Revelation 11:15...... The kingdoms or this world (natural and can be seen with natural eyes) are become the kingdoms of the Lords (spiritual and not seen with natural eyes).......

Revelation is symbolic and can not be discerned with natural eyes, but the Holy Spirit has to grace you with spiritual eyes. Ask and you shall receive.

Revelation 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God......

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God DWELLETH in you?

John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up (21) but he spake of the temple of his body.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ......

Revelation 15:8 And the temple (you and the Holy Ghost, which is Christ in Spirit) was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues were fulfilled.

Since all mankind was given access to the Holy Ghost at pentecost; therefore, the plagues were pour out before pentecost. Most of mankind is looking through natural eyes; therefore, they think they will be able to see these plagues, but the plagues being carried out are in the spiritual form and can't be seen with natural eyes, but the same results will occur on those they are imposed on.

You have to become well acquainted with the prophecies to even begin to understand Revelation and if the Holy Ghost is not guiding you it is impossible to understand. Ask and you shall receive.

There are many more details and many more scriptures that clarify Revelation 15, but not near enough spare to share in 2000 words.

The Spirit grace you with eyes to see.

I Believe Paul was speaking simply about the way believers and church folks, And how snooty we can get. The gay clothing is referring to nice clothing and the people that wear them getting more recognition and placement or seating. As opposed to poor clothing and people not being given the same acknowledgement, placement or even seating in church or society. I hope this helps.

  • 1 searching on Hebrews 10 - 5 years ago
I have heard many sermons the Christ died for all our sins past, present and future doesn't that contradict what we read in this chapter of Hebrews? Does it say anywhere in the bible that a sin commuted knowingly and willingly can be forgiven? I read here in starting in verse 26 that you cannot not that only but the punishment that will go with it, so is the punishment damnation or loss or rewards. Can one truly be forgiven and be restored to the Lord or is there a line here on earth that once crossed all is lost. This is the last time I will ask a question about this subject at times it can bring me and others to despair i know others that say they can't find the holy spirit and yet prayers have been answered. There are many people who think they have lost their salvation, many.

I believe that Psalm 119 is so long (176 verses) that it is divided by the Jewish alphabet A = Aleph, B = Beth etc... to divide it into smaller more readable portions. I have only read this today as part of my morning prayers, I hope this helps.
