You are correct, that there was no requirement for Jesus to be baptized, whether required by Jewish Law or for any need of repentance. As Jesus said, that this act of His was to "fulfil all righteousness, for both of them" ( Matthew 3:15).

By this statement of Jesus, I understand that Jesus identified with John the Baptist, in his specific calling as a prophet & ministry of being the "voice in the wilderness, crying, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight." This gave a Divine & public testimony to John, as much as it was confusing to him that rather he should be the baptizee.

Also, this occasion was for the inauguration of Jesus' Ministry, where the Godhead (the Trinity) was involved in the affirmation of the ministry & the empowerment to do so. So we find that the Father gave His Approval (verse 17) & the Spirit came specifically upon Him in a public 'testimony' manner (verse 16), thereby giving the Divine Declaration that this is indeed the Holy One from God, Who through His Sacrifice will accomplish much more than John could ever do, even to the 'spiritual' baptizing with the "Holy Ghost & with fire"; Who will also be their Judge, "thoroughly purge(ing) his floor, and gather(ing) his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (vv 11,12).

So, we see that this was not the usual baptism that John was giving to others: sinners demonstrating their sinful condition & need for cleansing. This was done to accomplish & publicly testify to Jesus' higher Calling: you can call it 'Jesus' inauguration service', just as those in the early Church were commended to service & even today, as the elders of a Fellowship lay hands upon & commend those going out to serve the Lord in full-time service.

though I think there was, at some point, link to search particular bible terms on this site I can no longer find it. For Example, it would be a good feature if one could type in the word 'knowledge' and see where and how often that word occurs bible wide- I might have overlooked just such a feature. Can anyone help?

Yes, I do not understand the sin of Cain before he killed his brother. God was pleased with Abel's gift but not with Cain's gift. Cain became jealous and then killed his brother which of course was sin. Why was Cain's gift not acceptable to God?

Are the 5 foolish virgins referring to Christians who are not ready and waiting for Christ's return?

Is it possible that born-again, redeemed Christians can miss the Rapture of the church, and be left behind to face the coming wrath of the antichrist?

Thank you Willie, that is what I thought and that is what I tried to tell this other person but they kept telling me that when peter told the people to repent and be baptize it was directed to the Israel and the gentiles only had to believe through grace but didn't have to repent and that gave me a red flag! I told her it was a command even though baptism doesn't save but it is symbolic symbol of of our new birth in Jesus in the death , burial and Resurrection to the world, and that God calls all to repent

EARS THAT HEAR! Adam and Eve were in the presence of the LORD. in His presence ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! They did not know anything else. Our Father walked through the Garden of Eden. He spoke audibly with Adal and Eve and many many many others. It is a small thing in comparison for a serpent to speak...even a serpent having legs is too much for our brains. Our Father help thou thine unbelief

I am 56 years old. I weigh over 462 lbs. My health is very bad. I live in a basement apartment and I can bearly walk. I have two growth on my right leg due to limphodema. My abdomen is getting bigger every day with water. The limphodema is growing in my lower abdomen. I am in horrible pain. I don't know how much longer I can take this suffering. I live alone and get a home health aide for twelve hours a day. I do not want to go to the hospital because of the covid thing. I may have to do it, because it is getting worse each passing day. I have congestive heart failure. This swelling is very bad. I don't want to be afraid, yet I am fearful. I know God does not leave me. My family does not help me when they have the ability to do so. It breaks my heart that they are being so selfish and wicked towards me. Please help me to not lose my faith. I know Jesus is coming soon. I pray that my faith never fail me, no matter what I may have to go through. Please pray for me.

May my neighbors stand strong when the storms of life come, because You are their sure foundation. "He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure."

What was the purpose of Christ's baptism? I know Jesus said it was to

fulfill righteousness, but I still don't understand since John's baptized unto repentance. Jesus was sinless with no need for repentance. Thank you.

    Paul's methodology ( 2 Corinthians 10:2-6)

    1. What Paul does not do ( 2 Cor. 10:2-3): He does not depend upon the tactics of this world.

    2. What Paul does ( 2 Cor. 10:4-6): He uses God's mighty weapons to knockdown Satan's strongholds.

Please pray that I stay healthy and lose the weight I need to lose. I made the survivorship program this past September after surviving breast cancer, and I gained weight due to not being able to go walking due to the pandemic. I exercised at home, but I need to do better. I also survived what doctors called an extreme reaction to antigen therapy after finishing chemo;it reduced my heart function to one third, and it took a year for my heart to get back to normal. The doctors at first said it would be a long recovery;a year later I said yes, it took a year, and my cardiologist said actually they thought it would be longer. That I bounced back sooner than they expected and am doing well, and will be under a cardiologist's care for the rest of my life, but that is okay. I don't want to get sick again, and I don't want to disappoint the doctors, nurses, staff, family and friends who have been super supportive of me. I don't want to let myself down, and I especially do not want to let God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit down, who have been with me all along. Thank you so much for your prayers, God bless you. Stay healthy and safe, and have a Happy New Year. Thank you.
