1 Chronicles 1--16. In this account it speaks of "beast"

What or who are the beast? Who are these beast?

It seems from the other Scriptures that show Jesus' baptism by John, that it was only John who witnessed the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus. We know that other people were around as John was also baptising them, when Jesus approached him. There isn't any mention of the reaction of the crowd, if indeed they saw this anointing. This was a special revelation to John that Christ was indeed the Messiah, the Son of God, Who would not baptize with water as he was doing, but with the Holy Spirit.

Alan, not sure who you were directing this enquiry to, but it's very likely that the Apocryphal Book Ecclesiasticus was being referred to as it contains 51 chapters & not the Ecclesiastes in the Bible that we read from.

Anyone in Christ ought to capitalize on grace, it's sad not to hear the church talk on grace yet the epistles on all their salutations made reference to grace.As the church we need to wake up and follow this trajectory of grace, there is something the Apostles knew on grace the modern church doesn't know.

What exactly is meant by this verse?

The church has been telling lies to the people. No one is free from sin who lives in sin!!!! I repeat! No one is free from sin who lives in sin! The only thing that saves you from sin is not to do it!!! Keep the laws statutes and commandments and judgments of the Most High . Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand!

Chanting is never heard of in the Bible. When the Jews sing, they usually use their song book, the Psalms, & also words from other Jewish sources. Christians sing from a hymn book, chorus book & such like, where hopefully, the words fully align with the Scriptures.

Being conversant with the chanting done by Hindus (similar to the Buddhists, I assume), it demonstrates generally a continual, monotonous set of words or rhythm for the primary purpose to elevate their mental (& spiritual) state to a 'higher level'. They can do it in Temple worship, worship at home, or in solitude (as the real version (not Western) that Yoga demands). It's this constant repetition & mental 'vibration' that incites a person to achieve a different state of mind & euphoria.

And for the Christian, this quest is totally against Scripture. We are never told to neutralize our minds & wills so as to attain a higher level of consciousness. However, we are told in 1 Peter 1:13, "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ". "Girding up" means that we have to maintain strict & constant control of our minds, what goes in & what comes out. We are never to disengage our minds & wills from our control - if we do, we might be subject to other spirits having access to us. But when we gird up our minds, we demonstrate our subjection to the Holy Spirit within us, declaring that we want to only hear His Voice, & only be led of Him.

Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Our minds have to constantly be guarded. In this verse, the example of the pull of the World to conform to their standards & their understanding of life's matters, remains ever before us. But we have to renew our minds (i.e. make an effort rather to conform to God's Standards for us).

Once again, thank you for your great testimony Gary & all that you've shared here. Indeed, the incomprehensible wonder of it all: that God should choose us to be IN HIM even before the foundation of the World, to be holy creatures & without blame before Him; & also being predestined unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto Himself, Ephesians 1:4,5. Thus, as His children, so greatly blessed to have His Spirit indwell us, we can only but cry out "Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant (as serving under the Law that brought judgement & death), but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Galatians 4:6,7. What a privilege we have to be called the children of God & what the full import of that will be when we all stand together in that coming day, in great joy before His Glory having full understanding & in perfect love. We can hardly restrain ourselves awaiting that time ( 1 Corinthians 2:9,10).

And yet, in the flesh, we often fail to restrain ourselves from sin. Even knowing to do good, but not following through with it, it becomes sin to us ( James 4:17). We could cry out with the apostle, "O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death?" What a beautiful & correct answer: it's only possible "through Jesus Christ our Lord" ( Romans 7:24,25). It's by Jesus' Blood He cleanses us, by His Spirit He delivers us, & by His Promise He receives us as His children, made worthy to share in His Glory.

Unworthy as we might feel to receive any crown or prize, as the work of Grace in us has been all from Him & of Him, yet as the apostle ran his earthly race, he only saw the prize that lay before him that kept him alert, motivated & on proper course: the prize of his "high calling OF God IN Christ Jesus" ( Philippians 3:14): ultimately to be in the Lord's Presence, finding full rest from his manifold temptations & difficult labours.

If the Bible is inspired by the word God we should contend ourselves within those books, of course many people with egos and rebellion attitudes always look for secrets from earthy men but with the faith of stone one can be intuitive to the Holy Spirit revealing the truth of wisdom and knowledge of God's ways.
