  • Wayne walker on Psalms 2 - 5 years ago
My Father has fallen ill and has cancer. He has been released from the hospital and sent home after being there for several days. The Dr's have given up and are saying to make him as comfortable as possible. He lives in Az and I am in Texas. I went there as soon as I was informed of his illness. I feel that this is not his time to be called home but I really have no idea as to what I can do or should do. I pray daily but I know this is not enough. I need some direction and guidance. Anything you can suggest would be appreciated.

If I asked for anything it would be to pray for my Father for a healing.

Collosians 3:3 We are hid in Christ in God. This means as a child of God we have this assurance that no evil shall find me. Because in order to get to me you first have to go through Christ and then through God. This is impossible Because Christ is the solid rock no force can peneteate through Christ. God neither slumber nor sleep. God is the Alfa and the Omega. The ancient of Days. The Great I am that I am! Nothing can peneteate or get near the eternal Source of all creation. Halleiuah

It's gratifying to read of your interest in this subject; the whole Book of Hebrews is so very special as it shows us the beauty of Christ Jesus & His superiority over the prophets, angels, Moses & in His (Jesus') Priesthood. Keep reading the Word of God & keep enquiring into its richness - it is God's Message for you to build you up & encourage you.

So, in this respect of what the Hebrews writer has given, Abraham is seen as not greater than Melchisedec. And this was shown by the fact that Abraham gave Melchisedec a tenth of the spoils of war, when in fact such an act would be reserved to giving them to the priests. Yet, there was no official priesthood then, as Levi (from whom the priesthood came) was not born, but in the olden days, the kings also sometimes served as priests. In this instance, Melchisedec was a king in Canaan & even though not having any heritage to a godly line, was still a man of God, we understand, whom God had blessed & endowed to specially serve his people. Abraham's coming to him after the war, prompted Melchisedec to give Abraham & his troop food & in return Abraham paid tithes to him. Genesis 14:18. So in this respect, Abraham, though the Father of many nations, was lesser in status to Melchisedec, who pointed to a greater King & Priest.

And because there was no record of Melchisedec's family heritage, nor of his birth & death, the Hebrews writer uses him to show that Jesus comes as his type, rather than from the Levitical priesthood. Even though Melchisedec was a man who still had a history, the knowledge we have of him, shows Jesus as his type: not from a line of priests; no descendants in his office as Priest; no commencement or close of his office as Priest. What is said of Jesus: He "hath an unchangeable priesthood" ( Hebrews 7:24), & because of this & His Perfection & Holiness, Jesus is able "to save (all people) to the uttermost that come to God by Him" (verse 25). That is, this Priest Jesus also became the Offering for mankind.

Just as St Paul and his new Disciples preached their new Christian beliefs without fear, then so much more should we do; as members of our already established religion and given support from our congregation members.

At this terrible time, during the world-wide pandemic; surely now is the time to strike and bring back into our Christian family, all of those that have lost faith, or have been misled into joining false or plagiarised versions of the one true faith.

Amen!!!Glory to God for your response! I do not get it much, as though I am new to this, but I love the observation that you made! So basically, you're saying that Abraham not being greater than Melsc... Right? And related that to Jesus as being the priest and offering instead of the ones back then, right?

1 Corinthians chapter 11, on the meaning of & manner in partaking at the Lord's Table, speaks about the person who partakes of it, identifying himself with Christ. The reason for instituting this act was very clear as it had been first done by Jesus with His disciples. In the Church, the believer approaches the Table solemnly, understanding the meaning of the emblems & its relevance to his/her life.

What was happening in the Corinthian Church, was that there were many who just looked at this occasion as a time to have a meal with little or no regard to its meaning & to others there, who had not been served as yet. In those days, the Communion Table was actually a Fellowship meal & during that time of gathering, one would rise, take the bread & the cup & draw the believers' hearts into contemplation of the Lord's sacrificial work; similar to the Passover meal that Jesus & the disciples enjoyed together ( Matthew 26:19-29).

So Paul was chastising them for their irreverence, & also approaching this sacred time with hearts not right before God (i.e. they may have believed by going through its motions, some cleansing or sanctifying benefit would be gained - and many do & think this in the Church today). To this type of gluttony & false application, Paul is dealing with them & stating that God does not let this type of behaviour go unpunished. We need to be careful too - it's better to let the emblems pass by us, if we are harbouring any type of sin that needs dealing with & confession.

When ministering to the little ones, to say that God lives in our hearts can be a little more understandable than to relate it theologically: that it is His Spirit that comes to reside in the Christian. God's Throne is in Heaven with His resurrected Son at His right Hand: that is seen Scripture. But God's Spirit (that indivisible part of the Godhead), is sent out into the world for a variety of purposes: John 16:7,8; John 14:16-18 & others.

Both Paul ( Romans 8:9) & Peter ( 1 Peter 1:11), speak of Christ's Spirit. Again, the Deity is fully seen as the selfsame Spirit that is in the World & in believers, and He is the Spirit of God & His Christ. So the Deity cannot reside in anything evil, rather God's Spirit is present to bring God's Light & Truth to those whose hearts are prepared to hunger for it & receive it.

I can't think of a specific verse(s) to what you seek, but certainly there are verses that show that Jerusalem, as the most important city in Israel, will figure now & into the future as God has directed in 2 Chronicles 6:5,6. And we have the following Scriptures as well: Zechariah 14:1-21; Jeremiah 3:17; Isaiah 2:1-4, 9:6,7, 24;23; Joel 3:17; Micah 4:1-5; Luke 1:32,33 showing Jerusalem's importance. With the third Temple to be built there in the future on the Temple Mount (alluded to in Revelation 11:1,2), I think that event will indicate to the world, of Jerusalem's importance & full return to Israel.

I spend a lot of time in the Book of Job. There's a lot of wisdom in there. There isn't anything that God is not aware of. He is present everywhere: past, present and future.

We live within the confines of Time, which is the first thing God created in Genesis 1:1. Let us be at peace with that. We are known by Him.

Satan is a defeated foe. Ephesians 6, gives us the Armor and the authority of Jesus Christ to stop his activity, and that of his agents of evil. So read the Gospels, Acts, and Paul's writings to see examples of disarming personal attacks.

A good teacher of the authority Jesus gives his born again believers can be viewed on YouTube. Search Charles Capps.

Jesus paid for it with His shed blood, and we must understand what we have been given.

Start there. I'm here if you have other questions.

God is holy, perfect, excellent, most high and Supreme Creator and Maker of heaven and earth. Trust and love Him with all your mind, body, heart, soul and strength. He is the true and living God of love and judgment. He created us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. It is marvelous to know God and His Precious Son, Jesus Christ. Let us live by the doctrine of Jesus, and be perfect as Jesus is perfect. Set your affection on things above and not on things on the earth.

Watch and pray for Jesus is coming soon to receive His saints. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. What a blessing and privilege to be a servant of Christ. Let the people of God march on by faith. Pray, believe and receive.

I apologize and do not wish to offend. I don't think that scripture would be in the Bible if there was an expiration date on it.

We have to make use of all of the Light that the Lord gives to us. No interpretation is private. All scripture is inspired through the Holy Spirit; who is the Spirit of Christ.

Revelation chapter 22 forbids us to ADD to or to SUBTRACT from scripture just as it is in the Bible. Let's all take a look at that?

    Wesley's Notes for Matthew 24:20

24:20 Pray ye that your flight be not in the winter - They did so; and their flight was in the spring. Neither on the Sabbath - Being on many accounts inconvenient; beside that many would have scrupled to travel far on that day. For the Jews thought it unlawful to walk above two thousand paces (two miles) on the Sabbath day.

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 24:20

Mt 24:20 Be not in the winter. Because the streams were then impassable torrents from the heavy rains and the weather cold and wet, hard on homeless people. Neither on the sabbath. Because then the gates of the city were closed, preventing departure. History tells us that the army of Cestius Gallus enclosed Jerusalem in A.D. 67, then deterred by its strength, retired to Caesarea. This was the signal for which the church waited, and it then fled beyond the Jordan.

In Israel there would have been restrictions how far one could travel/flee danger on the Sabbath day.

    Mishael : hope this helps
