  • EL ROI - In Reply on Genesis 16:13 - 5 years ago
An Egyptian slave, Hagar encountered God in the desert and addressed him as El Roi, "the God who sees me." Notably, this is the only occurrence of El Roi in the Bible.

Hagar's God is the One who numbers the hairs on our heads and who knows our circumstances, past, present, and future. When you pray to El Roi, you are praying to the one who knows everything about you.

She [Hagar] gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi [the"well of the Living One who sees me"]. ( Genesis 16:13-14)

    PROMISES ASSOCIATED WITH GOD'S NAME

Even the most watchful parent has to sleep. But Scripture makes it clear God never slumbers, never looks one way while we head off in another, never misses a millisecond of what is happening on earth. It also assures us God is on the lookout for men and women who are totally committed to him. Why? Because he wants to strengthen their hearts as they serve him. If you are feeling weak in the face of life's challenges, the best way to grow strong is to strengthen your commitment to Christ. Decide to obey fully, to follow completely, to keep your eyes fastened on him. Let El Roi take pleasure as he watches over you, and you will soon find your heart stronger and your confidence deeper without quite knowing how it happened.

    Isaiah 14

9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou (Satan) also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols (MUSIC): the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man (Satan) that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?
  • NEVER GOING BACK TO EGYPT - In Reply on Ezekiel 20:25 - 5 years ago
I was taught that "Egypt" in our modern times means our old sins and idols in our lives. The difference between now and then, is that we have received the power of the risen Christ into our born again lives.

No matter how God provided for them, they never let go of their idols and memories of Egyptian religious practices, like golden calves. They wandered in the deserts till the older generation died away. Moses died. Joshua then took them into the Promised land.

We all must freely give our old sins; even the memories. How do you do that? You forgive your involvement and then give it to God. Satan will tempt periodically to see if you really meant it? We have power to step over that noose, through Jesus's blood sacrifice.

We are in Covenant with Jesus. He gives us his armor and strength; and we give Him our weakness and failures.

Stand sure upon that Covenant relationship.

New Christians should search through their belongings and mementos; to see if an "old idol" of the memory of sin (Egypt), needs to be cast away. It is a very freeing experience to rid yourself of the baggage of sin.

Most preachers don't teach on this, but I do. Familiar Spirits (follows ancestral sins), or keep track of hidden sins. They follow us around to remind us of those old things.

You Take away their power to remind, re-injure the memories, tempt us to revisit sin (to see if it's really dead?) Get rid of them once and for all.

(Bind them by name.) I bind and cast out all familiar spirits in the name of Jesus Christ!

I break their power in my life and my ancestors all the way back to Adam and Eve. I loose the blessings of God to fill my life with blessing and restoration. I send those familiar spirits into outer darkness by the name and the power of Jesus Christ. I stand on Jesus's Authority and none other.

I decree that those familiar spirits NEVER return. In the name of my Lord Jesus.

May we go forward from Egypt into the Promised Land.

It doesn't say. Everyone has to wait and anticipate the pleasures and joy of heaven revealed.

I've always wished I could lay down on green grass under a tree without being crawled in by every bug in the area. Lol

    Wesley's Commentary for Luke 12:55

12:53 The father against the son - For those who reject me will be implacable toward their very nearest relations who receive me. At this day also is this scripture fulfilled. Now likewise there is no concord between Christ and Belial.

12:54 And he said to the people also - In the preceding verses he speaks only to his disciples. From the west - In Judea, the west wind, blowing from the sea, usually brought rain: the south wind, blowing from the deserts of Arabia, occasioned sultry heat. # Mt 16:2|.

12:56 How do ye not discern this season - Of the Messiah's coming, distinguishable by so many surer signs.

12:57 Why even of yourselves, without any external sign, judge ye not what is right? - Why do ye not discern and acknowledge the intrinsic excellence of my doctrine?
  • Scripture Past Speaks to us Converts in the NOW - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 3 - 5 years ago
He was speaking to Timothy then. Also the verse speaks to us now, in later history. We are the young converts.

In Chapter 3 of 1 Thessalonians, Paul showed his concern for the well-being of the young converts to Jesus Christ. This was his main purpose for sending Timothy and Silas back to them while he remained in Athens.

The presence of Timothy was meant to strengthen the church in their faith as well as encourage the people to keep from being unsettled in times of trials. Paul also sent Timothy to find out if he had labored in vain.

Next, Paul told of Timothy's report after he returned from Thessalonica. He said the report was very encouraging and he was very thankful for that. This news comforted Paul in his affliction and he said he was excited to see them in the near future.

Paul concluded 1 Thessalonians Chapter 3 by saying that he prayed for God to open doors that would allow him to visit them again. He also prayed for the people, saying that he hoped their love for each other would grow in much the same way that his love for them had grown. He prayed that the Lord would establish their hearts in holiness for when the Lord Jesus Christ returned.

You can google your scripture and type the word, history, after it and you can read the historic details of an event.

  • Godhead Scriptures - In Reply on Genesis 12 - 5 years ago
    The Father purposes; wills

The Son is the Word of God, speaks it

The Holy Spirit performs the the spoken Word of God

When we speak the Word of God over an issue or condition in our lives; according to the Known Will of God (the Bible, OT and NT); the Holy Spirit moves to accomplish it.

All three are one; not Separated.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    1 John 5:7, John 10:30

    Acts 17:27-30

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    They speak amongst themselves.

Write these scriptures on the inside cover of your Bible now. This subject comes up often. The scriptures are plain enough to be understood.

Debates and arguing theologies according to varying opinions cause confusion. Acts 17 should dispel that.

I also agree on Hosea 4:6. We as a nation, including me, have slowly slipped away into Huluville, Amazon prime, and Netflixville. How sad, to get caught up in what the world does. God will not save our country, if we do not take steps, to get away from the sins of the world. It's like, God asks me, "You want me to save America, but you are not serving me first?" How sad, God, help me to get away from the things of the world, and to have perfect peace in you

Lk. 10:20 - Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in Heaven.

Lk. 10:21 - In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in they sight.
