Lets look at what John says
In the context of what I previously wrote to you,
1John 1:4 1John 2:3 they're learning to know Him & are experiencing a measure of His joy & he encourages them to continue, that their joy made be full as they grow toward being born again of the of the Spirit by the Incorruptible Seed---unbeliever doesn't know this
1John 1:7 an unbeliever does not walk in the Light
1John 2:1 He calls them his little children, new converts
Would he call unbelievers, his little children?
1John 2:7 he calls them his brethren
1John 2:8 because the darkness is pass & the true Light now shines "past tense" they're believers working out their salvation
1John 2:12 calling them little children again, their past sins having been forgiven
1John 2:13 describing the progressional work of sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience, from children, to young men, to fathers
1John 2:21 but because you know it, they're believers
1John 2:27 they have received the Anointing, must be believers,
1John 3:1-3 revealing again God's love to His own, they have this hope in the working out of the washing of regeneration & renewing in the Holy Spirt unto the new creature ,to be pure, even as He is pure
Dan; the whole epistle is full of this, you mention unbelievers needs to be cleanse, yes, but so does new believers as they grow in Grace, learning to pick up the cross & deny self & learn, know & put on Christ.
once we come to be believers in the Light, then the work of sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience begins, for example;
Just look at our own lives, we both believe & as we continue to walk in the Light, learning Him in which in this learning of Him we fall many times, yet we continue, step by step He cleanses us, eventually overcoming all sin, thoroughly purge, & are baptize by Christ, become dead unto sin, the born again experience. This is what John is revealing to His little children.
An unbeliever does not know this,
Hope this clears the mist
Yes, these commandments are from the Lord, or Saviour.
There should not be any appeal to this requirement being merely customary of that time.
So, as women, myself and other women are to be willing to learn from our husbands first, then our ministers, then our teachers that God has placed over us. And as women, we are always to heed what Paul says to do with what others instruct us in, taking every thought captive to God's word, testing what we hear to see if it aligns with Scripture, and be willing to teach other women what we learn from the Word and our teachers.
This does not, however, mean that women and men cannot have discussions on spiritual matters. This verse has to do with protocol during worship services and church leadership and governance.
I like the part of this verse that says we stand in Gospel. We endure in keeping the faith, growing stronger in faith in Christ, becoming steadfast in the gospel.
Give me Jesus, the resurrection of the body, and the life with Him to come!
I have always loved this verse because it specifically says HOLY kiss. So, for me, I want all of my affection towards others to be done in a holy way coming from the love of God in us.
In the U.S. affection such as hugs and kisses have in so many ways been associated with sexuality. Sad that it has evolved to this point because every one needs the affection God speaks of here and have it not mixed with sexual interest (except with one's spouse). As an elementary teacher we were instructed not to hug students because it can be misinterpreted. How sad that is for our young ones. For most of their days in elementary school they are going without holy and loving affection from the adults who care for them until they get home and have just a few hours with family where they may or may not get affection from parents and siblings.
I think that this verse instructs us to learn and practice the kind of holy affection that comes from the Spirit of God within us and not shy away from it because social norms have become so warped. God's word is dependable for making us grow together in the unity of faith and love of God.
May the Lord heal you soon and completely and protect all of you from contracting covid.
I will pray for you.
I took a real "crash and burn" fall the other night and whacked my jaw against the edge of a table , bruised my upper arm, and hip, and wrenched my neck. No broken jaw, but there is swelling and bruising. Please pray that these contusions heal well. I am icing them and taking OTC pain relievers. This all came about because I lost my balance.
Also, two members of or household have contracted covid. the rest of us are negative. So, please pray that I do not get it as well as for my husband and other son.
Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you, brother I will make this short I believe we have come to a point to let it rest. This is something better discussed in person, not on paper things get lost. In Acts 15, it was at least 4 years, after Pentecost when Paul and Barnabas went to Jerusalem because some Gentiles were told they must be circumcised and follow the law.
It is clear they were debating this for a long time it says much disputing before Peter stood up. He said it was a good while ago when God sent the word to the Gentiles. So, this seems quite a few years after Pentecost, and it appears the apostles were still following the law and circumcision.
They were debating not opposing it, as we see in Acts 21:18-31 there is still division, the Jews were still in the law, it says James and the elders were there, these were people who had accepted Jesus, but they were still in the law, (they are all zealous of the law). We also see Peter was an apostle to the circumcision and Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles. When they turned away from Judaism I don't know, in Acts 10:28 they were irate with Peter for his disobedience of the law, and these were apostles.
Our main disagreement is my understanding of Scripture that a person who has accepted Jesus, was baptized, and walking in fellowship with Jesus can intentionally walk away from Jesus and willfully live a life of sin, unless they repent and come back into the light they will perish, will lose the gift of eternal life. For example, the prodigal son Luke 15. Yours is you cannot lose their salvation, it is impossible.
I can give my understanding and you can give yours but not being able to sit down and discuss each verse and flip to others that we cannot do on paper.
Have a wonderful evening and a great week.
God bless,
RLW
Thanks for you your input here regarding the ongoing topic of sin. You may in fact agree with Jessie regarding the scripture 1John:1-10 being directed at believers, but I will continue to believe that John is speaking to unbelievers/possible new converts, unless you can show me in scripture that I'm in error.
John is referring to (We) and (Them) a lot. Who is the We? Who is the Them? I believe if we breakdown the scripture we will know who these (2) groups are that he is referring to. These (2) two groups are not alike. One group is nothing like the other group. Indeed, the people in one group are the exact opposite of what the Bible describes as a Christian.
1John 1:3 (unbelievers) They do not have fellowship with us as we have with God.
We Christians: We have fellowship with Christ and all of the members of His Body. 1Cor 1:9 and 1John 1:7
1John 1:5 (unbelievers) They need to hear the message that John has heard.
We Christians: We have heard the message and have believed. Romans 10:17
1John 1:6 (unbelievers) They lie and do not live by the truth.
We Christians: We have already met the Truth and we walk by the Truth. John 14:6 2John 1:4
1John 1:7 (unbelievers) They need to be purified from all sin.
We Christians: We have been purified from all sin. Heb 10:10
1John 1:8 (unbelievers) They are deceived.
We Christians: We are filled with the Spirit of Truth. John 14:17
1John 1:9 (unbelievers) They need to be purified from all unrighteousness.
We Christians: We have received the gift of forgiveness, and have been made righteous. 1Cor 6:11. Eph 1:7
1John 1:10 (unbelievers) They are calling God a liar.
We Christians: We agree with God. Romans 10:9-13
1John 1:10 (unbelievers) God's word has no place in their lives.
We Christians: God's word lives in us. 1Thes 2:13
Hope this helps.

Hugging and kissing each other is not the norm in some cultures and nations. People from some nations find it very difficult to show their feelings and emotions, normally people from the North. But if we have love for each other...
"15. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) 16. That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth."
We must submit ourselves to those in the church who offer any work and help for God's work on earth.
"1. Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
Tenths/tithes? No, not in NT, but "as God hath prospered him", in other words what he can and wish.
"But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming."
Firstly the grk says "presence" not "coming". Does it make any difference? Maybe.
The verse says that Christ is the firstfruit and then those who are Christ's at His presence. Those who are His, NOT all people. The rest will come next.
One may say that the saints will be resurrected just before Jesus comes back and then alltogether will come down to earth to fight the fight of Armaggedon.
In Matthew 25:31-46, the final Judgement is described. If those on Jesus' right are the saved ones (as it seems they are) which are the saints, then this is very strange. Why? Because the saints will be resurrected just before Jesus descending onto earth with them. In Rev 19:7-8, which describes that moment, the saints are given the white garments which means that they are judged and saved. So how come they go through a 2nd Judgement after the fight of Armaggedon?. It doesn't make sense, in a case of a post tribulation rapture.
How do I contact Admn.,?
22. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death
"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable."
Gospel of prosperity? No thanks, I will not have any.
"1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain."
Anything clearer than the above?
"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law."
1 Cor 14:37-38,
"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."
