If we neglect to use our support of Issues concerning Church and our freedoms under constitutional law, to worship and assemble: there will be no one to blame except ourselves.
The Church can't Arise and lift up the Standard against the enemies of our soul, if we don't draw together as the Body of Christ, stand on our most holy Faith against the evil encroaching upon this nation...and say NO with our signature.
Evil prevails when good people do nothing.
Consider the WOES that God warns us of in:
( Isaiah 3:11-12, Isaiah 5:8,11, Isaiah 20-23, Isaiah 6:5-10, Isaiah 10:1
The simplicity of the Woes is this= if we don't obey Gods known will in our lives, we'll suffer the woes. It takes CORPORATE PRAYER of Christians, to please God and turn back to Him, quickly. Agree with Him!
Stop listening to the voices of unchurched FOOLS. (Nat'l TV)
If we listen to fools, ascribe to what they put forth..... and we NEGLECT to check the Bible to see what GOD says about it ???
Our nation is due for some Reaping of the things we sowed for. Stop turning deaf ears and blind eyes to Gods Word.
There is no thing such as basic "Fire Insurance" as a, "Get Out Of Hell" free card." It cost Jesus His life to pay for our sins. Turn back to Him, and He will turn back to hearing your petitions; prayers.
Satan can play the politics game too. If you can't discern that "voice", you build your house on quicksand. That's why the 'WOEs' are in the Bible. Turn back to God and he will welcome your return. If you feel "less than blessed", you need to assess your life and figure out WHEN you strayed off course.
Spiritual warfare against your MIND happens when it's not full of Bible and faith in what God says; and in what Jesus did for us. Kick satans lying demons out of your head !!

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
King James Bible
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 6:70
"Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?"
2 Timothy 4:3
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"
Matthew 13:37
He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one
The only way I know to memorize Scriptures is to select one & repeat it over again until you absorb it. Then continue to recall it over the succeeding days. Which Scriptures to memorize? Start with those that are most meaningful to you as you read the Bible. I think most of us started off with John 3:16, but in time you can begin to memorize more of that chapter. Then each day pick a new verse or verses to memorize.
To understand Scripture, you are wholly cast upon God's Spirit to reveal not only the meaning of the verse, but to apply it to your understanding & life. Of course, there will always be Bible portions that are hard to understand. Firstly, one must know the setting, the people, the era, God's Covenant & His requirements, even the history of the land to properly understand why verses are written the way they are. There are Bible encyclopedias, on Jewish history, even the Web that can provide you valuable information. You will learn over time which web sites consistently provide proper truthful information. Other helps are, Dictionaries, Concordances, Commentaries, Lexicons, Interlinear Bibles, Atlases/maps, & a good Study Bible is very useful as they often have some of the above helps in a condensed format. For sake of space, I can't give more descriptions of the above Bible Tools. I use a Ryrie Study Bible, but there are many great ones available. Visiting a Christian bookshop & discussing your needs with the staff there will certainly bring a good result. Every blessing.

John 17:20-23
20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [j]will believe in Me through their word;
21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Paul speaks about what we build upon this foundation. Many Christians will come before God empty-handed, as they have not done what God required of them. It doesn't mean evangelizing in foreign lands or holding large evangelistic crusades, or suffering at the hands of wicked men. It can be how faithful you have been, did you take the opportunities God gave you to witness for Him, or to serve His Church with gladness, to be a listening ear or praying heart to someone in need. Was your Christian life worthy of bearing Christ's Name? Some believers' works will abide under scrutiny (fire), but sadly, many will suffer loss of reward because of their disobedience & carnal living, BUT (v15) they will still be saved "yet so as by fire" (a modern rendering: 'by the skin of their teeth'). But this is not a good place to be in.
The Christian is the present day visible Temple of God on Earth - God expects we look after His Temple, refrain from sin, & present it holy before the world. If the Christian continues to defile (continuing in wilful sin) God's Temple, God will destroy him (i.e. the body will be removed - by death) - see also 1 Corinthians 5:5. This God has to do to bring to a halt such misbehaviour, just so that the believers' spirit might be saved. God has never put up with sin, & more so when we look at Israel's disobedience through the ages & the Christian's disregard to holy living. God gives us time & opportunity for us to come to our senses, to repent & turn away, but many who refuse, suffer under His Hand, as when some disregarded the Lord's Table, and so "many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die)."
In the Bible, Cherubim are heavenly beings appointed by God as guards in Eden ( Genesis 3:24). They were depicted as carvings at either side of the Mercy Seat on the Ark in the Tabernacle ( Exodus 25:18-21). Their figures were woven into the veil in the Tabernacle ( Exodus 26:1). The Lord is seen symbolically riding on one ( Ezekiel 10:1-22).
Many have their interpretations of the function of Cherubim. I generally understand them as a type of angel (or, heavenly being) that are appointed as guards of God's Throne or His Holiness & symbols of His Mercy to all. This is largely taken from their position on the Mercy Seat. Then we have the other beings called Seraph/Seraphim that serve before God's Throne awaiting His Commands & are involved in purification as in Isaiah 6:1-7. What their actual functions are now, especially in light of the resurrected & ascended Lord Jesus at God's right Hand, isn't revealed.
It might appear strange to us that a Mother would so name a child, but in Eastern cultures, often names had some special depiction or meaning & was a reminder of what was encountered with her child. Whereas in the West, we might tend to go for a name that is in vogue or for some other reason (a name already in the family, or of someone who may be admired, etc).
You wrote of the anger that builds up inside you when you are lied to, maybe continually. To be angry against the sin of others is not wrong, but to harbour it, thus allowing it to slowly eat into us is wrong; Ephesians 4:26, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath". There is an anger that isn't sin, even as Jesus showed anger when He went to the Temple & saw people treating the House of God with contempt ( John 2:13-16). So there is a righteous anger, as we call it, but there is an unrighteous anger that has its roots in self-pity & not receiving that which we deserve. We can get upset & angry, but we need to repent, fix up the matter with those concerned & go to bed without storing up that anger. It is hard to do, but the Lord will help when there is true Love.
It's not clear as to why your friend felt that your help to her was your attempt to "buy her friendship". Maybe it was something you did or said that she misconstrued, or even her own thoughts getting away with her & she came to a wrong judgement. In all such cases, if she will allow it, the matter should be aired in all seriousness & humility, so as to restore the bond of friendship you once enjoyed. You may even want to approach her with that desire: to rectify & make amends for whatever has caused this rift.
If the Lord has put it upon your heart to help people wherever you can, then this is a most worthy pursuit as your sole motivation is from the Lord & for the people in need, just as maybe you once were in need in your earlier days. So Christine, just a few thoughts to guide you. May the Lord guide you in this & bless your life. And by the way, you expressed yourself very well though not having had much education - just goes to show that there is an ability we are blessed with beyond the bounds of man deems is necessary.
There's a Link, that says Become A BELIEVER. It's the most complete guide on how to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.
It's all scriptural. Just say a little Prayer and ask, "Holy Spirit please help me to understand, memorize what you say, so I can share this with someone else. Amen.
Thank you for sharing that intimate part of your life Christine, & about the hurt that you've been holding onto. If I could focus on some of your issues: some of the words or expressions used in the Bible can be difficult to comprehend so we sometimes have to look for assistance elsewhere (e.g. various Bible Study Tools). In 1 Corinthians chap 13 (what we call Paul's Love chapter), Paul was first speaking about spiritual gifts given by God to believers & how to use them, in chapter 12. Then in chapter 13, Paul says that even though he may have received many of those gifts to bless the Church, yet if Love was absent, none of that mattered. Even if he was charitable (giving for others' needs), if Love wasn't there, he would just be like a musical brass instrument just making a noise.
The word "charity" in Common Greek (the language that the NT was written in), actually means 'True, God-given Love, a sacrificial Love' & not just being charitable. Paul is trying to show us that just by being charitable to someone doesn't necessarily mean we are displaying that Love from God - it could be for conscience sake, desire to help someone, even trying to build up some 'brownie points' to please God. Only a pure Love out of a pure heart will produce a sincere giving of oneself for another person. So Paul goes on to explain this Godly Love in verses 4-7: Love (shown to people) is patient, kind, without envy, without self-promotion, brings good behaviour, not self-seeking, does not retaliate, hates iniquity (all sins & errors) but doesn't judge, loves Truth, puts up with a lot but thinks no ill of others, rests on hope which gives endurance to finish our life course well, are the sorts of things that Paul says are the virtues of this Love. And finally in verse 13: 'even though all three (having great faith, unshakeable hope, & Godly Love) are so important, the greatest one, on which everything hangs, is Love.
Bible Commentary for Proverbs 24:19
Wesley's Notes for Proverbs 24:19
24:17 Falleth - Into mischief.
24:18 From him - Understand, upon thee, which is implied in the Hebrew phrase.
24:20 No reward - All his happiness shall quickly and eternally perish. The candle - All their comfort and glory shall cease.
24:21 To change - That are unstable in their obedience to God or to the king.
That includes all babies: who died too soon, by accident, illness or malice, or taken from the womb.
We'll see them again, in a place of love and forgiveness. No memory of the things that hurt us.
God says that ALL SOULS are mine.
All souls await the resurrection into their new bodies which will never get sick or die.
Hang on to Jesus with all of your strength.
Our story will end with fire, but all those that decide to go with Jesus will survive it and live forever in the new World that is being built.
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Thank you too for your very kind comments: we all sit as lovers of our blessed Saviour, learning at His Feet. If we learn something to impart that will enrichen another life or draw him closer to the Lord, then we have used our learning as the Lord intended. The blessing of the Lord then falls on both. As "iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend".
Aside from being in a position to offer guidance & instruction, what I appreciate also from interactions on this Site, is to understand what other Christians think or glean from the Word. Often we are insulated from this aspect by spending most of our time in 'closed' circles & we rarely encounter believers who actually understand Scriptures quite differently to us. True, there are many worthy & unworthy thoughts proffered, but in our desire to understand the other's position, we increase our knowledge by having our minds so exercised to re-examine our own beliefs & understanding. And yet, I also wonder, even with the limitations we have by expressing ourselves via the written page, if discussing a point we conflict on, whether we are actually in some agreement yet viewing the matter from a different angle or having failed to include some vital point. So it takes some special help from the Lord to look past the words & to see that the Spirit of the Lord is still evident & giving us another dimension in the study.
But your example of 'love that covers all our differences' is truly worthy of all acceptation & truly "covers a multitude of sins", especially of ignorance & false surmisings. May He continue to bless you Richard as we look forward to your further input.
Thanks
I have prayed for all you have mentioned Adam, especially that the sixteen year old run away, be protected and shield by our Lord Jesus Christ, and that whatever his problems are, he will return to his family to sort things through. God Bless you Adam, as I have only recently myself returned to Jesus Christ, only begotten son of our Father, OUR LORD GOD. AMEN.
