What Adam has written is quite correct: it is the Holy Spirit Who takes up residence in those born again by Him. What you describe (taken from another source I guess), as God's Kingdom in us growing to bring us to maturity, is actually God's Spirit Who is doing the work of bringing us into deeper sanctification & maturing into Christ-likeness. The "battle that rages" within is that of the old carnal nature that is at war with the new nature from God. That is why the Apostle Paul said to "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." ( Galatians 5:16,17). And in verse 24, "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." So there is nothing to suggest God's Kingdom getting bigger in us, rather that we have determined to put aside sin & not obey its enticements - not allowing the carnal nature to control us, but God's Spirit given full control.

Now, there is a Scripture that some could use to support their errant belief: Luke 17:21, "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." The Greek word for 'within' is 'entos' which can mean 'within or among'. Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees who certainly did not recognize nor accept Jesus as Messiah, so the meaning of 'within' wouldn't apply as they were certainly not holy vessels for God to come upon or within. I believe Jesus was speaking about Himself Who was already 'within their midst/amongst them' & they couldn't see Him because of their blindness & hardness of their hearts.

So when we allow the Holy Spirit to have more of our lives by being moved by Him rather than by our carnal flesh, then in truth, God's Spirit will delight to reign in His children & we shall see God's Hand move in wonderful ways in our lives. 2 Corinthians 6:16.

Hi Eric, I don't believe that a kingdom of God is inside, especially when no verses are shared to back up the idea. Bible reading Christians cite the Bible as their source of truth, and shouldn't cite other men or ideas from other books or movies. It sounds like something someone just made up this narrative.

I believe Christians have the holy spirit inside them, but not a kingdom. Satan loves to twist and deceive people into thinking they're their own god- it's a common trick and there's even entire religions founded on such a deception. I believe we will have an opportunity to enter heaven after this life and after judgment. There's a verse that says to lay your treasures in heaven, not on earth. If someone wants to know what that means they should keep reading the Bible and pursue it.

  • Eric on Exodus 19 - 5 years ago
Does anybody believe this to be true?

The kingdom of God resides inside of us. When you accept Jesus as your savior your body becomes a house of God. Immediately a battle begins inside of you between evil and good where good begins to purge our evil. As you continue to walk in obedience more evil (junk from sin) gets replaced with good (the kingdom inside of you is growing) this is why Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and that a house divided cannot stand. When Christians walk half in half...half with God half with sin they usually tend to be in struggle within themselves and with life in general. Because the battle within rages. As you walk in obedience the good purges the bad...ie, the kingdom is growing. The bigger the kingdom the smoother the walk and easier to resist sin and the world becomes less desirable. After a certain amount of time Jesus "comes" with the visitation and checks out your kingdom. If it's worthy and so far as to say the temple is complete he moves in and becomes king of your kingdom within. If not he leaves until he "comes" again to see if you've got it right. This is what the inheritance of Christ is.

Has anyone heard this before and anyone have thoughts on this?

    Amen

Infact God told Abraham to live his country and his father's house into a place He will show him with a promise to protect him wherever he may go. So if Abam said the truth , God would have protected him. This also paved way for Sarah to give her maid to Abram to fulfill the promise of God to bless the decendants of Abram. We must be always faithful to God and he save us like He did to Joseph, but yet though if we sin, he is still with us. May God bless us all Amen

Ok David. So what it seems is you don't believe in "fallen" angels? So if you don't you would have to come up with a second meaning for the word. Ok. Like before I'm not trying to correct you or say you don't understand the Bible. We're different people. You don't believe in "fallen" angels and I do. Let's just leave it peacefully there.

I tried to pass on the "sin" thing. So you say I have sin in my life? What sin is in my life? So if you're thinking on the Ten Commandments or something that's quite easy to pass. Do you know that a certain thought in your head could be counted for a sin to God? Or just glancing at something that came in your way? Which your eyes may do naturally but after you look that may also be a sin. Or just a word blurted out of your mouth accidentally because something terrible was about to happen to you. Also a sin. We are fighting till the day we die to stay away from "all" sin in this earth. None of us know what is going to happen tomorrow.

Like I said in the first post I made. I will never call myself perfect even though I try very hard to stay away from all sin. I am a humble person. If you think you're "perfect" you're exalting yourself pretty high. I'd be careful with that. God knows everything. We're here on earth where sin is rampant everywhere as I'm sure you know. Again, I don't say it's "ok" to sin. My life has changed dramatically since accepting the Lord. But we were all sinners once and I pray for people. Don't condemn them. Especially if they're making an effort as a lot of people don't.

I don't want any to perish or go to Hell. Jesus Christ is the Judge not me.

Peace be with you David. God Bless.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10 THE Thief (SATAN) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

I am (JESUS) come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Comment: the sheep are the human believers that Follow Jesus. Read Psalm 23.

If Nero (the Emperor after Claudius Caesar) was The Anti-Christ, even in spite of his many wickednesses & treatment of Christians, does he even fit the description of the anti-Christ in Revelation chapter 13 & 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10?

Nero might have considered himself as a god, sitting in the Temple as God, but he wasn't destroyed by "the brightness of his (Christ's) coming". Nero was in power for fourteen years (not the much shorter timeline given in the Word), finally suiciding in AD 68. The similarities are evident, but the coming Anti-Christ will fulfil Scripture to the letter & I don't see that Nero did that.

In 1 Peter 3:18-20, we see the mention of what you're seeking after. This passage speaks about Jesus suffering & dying for us but by the power of the Spirit, He was made alive & in the self-same Spirit He "went & preached unto the spirits (those from the days of Noah being held captive) in prison (held in chains in Hell)".

We can't identify a particular time that Jesus, by His Spirit, did this. Many understand it to be after he rose from the grave & went & declared His victory over sin & death, but the Scripture in question doesn't clearly indicate this. One could then ask: why did Jesus do this at this particular time & not at any other time, or, what was the necessity of going specifically to those held captive to preach to them? I get the sense that this was done at some time after Jesus' resurrection as an announcement to them, but that is not certain as we don't get any more details of that event.

Just using your phrase "trust in me", I put that in this Site's search box & came up with three verses: Isaiah 57:13, Jeremiah 39:18 & Jeremiah 49:11. Of course, there will be many other verses throughout the Bible that will indicate the same sentiment of one having a trust or faith in God or God's requirement for us to express faith in Him.

    Joel 3:13

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

    Mark 4:29

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

    Revelation 14:14

And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the SON OF MAN, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

    Revelation 14:15

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

    Revelation 14:16

And he that sat on THE CLOUD, thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

    Revelation 14:17

And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

    Revelation 14:18

And another angel came out from the altar, which had POWER OVER FIRE, and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

    Revelation 14:19

And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the WRATH OF GOD.

Time is of the essence. Don't waste anymore of it.

  • Unsaved People and THE LORD OF THE HARVEST on Exodus 19 - 5 years ago
For unsaved loved ones, it takes rock solid faith in Jesus (unmovable), to pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into the paths of your resistant relatives.

He arranges divine appointments for people to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ with the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.

They, with the Father, CREATED all we see and know. Is there anything too hard for the Lord? In REVELATION there is a scene of Jesus with a sickle, reaping the Harvest.

Get in on this! Pray for these stubborn relatives, loved ones, belligerent teenagers; even the old, the drugged up; the angry at life, everybody! Even perfect strangers.

Christ-like Love should drive you to your knees, often if not every day. Budget one hour to do serious business in your prayer life. Pray for LABORERS TO BE SENT.

This is called, love and obedience to the known will of God. Jesus is the Lord of the Harvest. Sitting at the right hand of God, making intercession for all saints. Ask and receive. Keep your faith fixed on Jesus only.

PRAY TO THE LORD OF THE HARVEST.

    " Matthew 9:37

    Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

    Matthew 9:38

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

    Matthew 13:30

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into MY BARN.

    Matthew 13:39

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels."

Do it yourself and quit whining for others to do it for you. Faith Loves Wide. Turn off the worldly world and do some business with Jesus.

God gave them over to the mind they desired (reprobate) but He did not leave them there without the possibility of conversion We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (our choice), But God intervened by sending His Son to pay the wages (death) by living a perfect, sinless life; nailed to a Cross; died there, and rose again and is now in Heaven to intercede for those who believe in Him. To believe as Calvinists teach that God specified who will be saved and the rest left to burn in the lake of fire is without merit. Jesus died for all ( John 3:16)! God sent His Holy Spirit (another Comforter) to teach and lead us into the perfection we must have to enter into Heaven. Everyone is on equal ground. God is no respecter of persons. Most will choose to be destroyed (Broad is the gate that leadeth to destruction and most will choose this one). Choose the narrow! You will not be disappointed and all of Heaven stands ready to get you there. We must prayer to have the mind of Jesus. Blessings, Steve

  • David W Black - In Reply on 1 John 1 - 5 years ago
And Richard, respectfully, I made mention that angels were men or women delivering messages in the 2 and only those 2 verses you mentioned specifically. If you want to talk of angels in the recount of events at Sodom and Gomorrah, then it's a case where different subjects, different people, and different angels were present and were involved. Those were angels, heavenly beings God sent to bring Lot and his family out of the city. They also delivered a message from God. These are 2 totally different uses of the word angel.

In Rev. 12:7-9 you refer to heaven in this use and meaning is high and lifted up spiritual place, not the Heaven God dwells. Heaven has various uses and meanings. There is no way possible that God has enemies in His Heaven, meaning where He dwells.

Remember you're trying to correct me, believing that I don't understand the Bible, yet you argue for having sin in your life. Jesus plainly states we must sin no more. Paul stated his God given purpose in Acts 26:18 "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." How can one be in the light but still living in darkness?

Jeremiah 23:21-22 "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings." Ministry that God did not send teaches falsely that we will sin more or less until Heaven. Jeremiah tells us that marks them as false teachers.

Ask yourself this "If sinners go to Heaven who ends up in Hell and the Lake of Fire?" Just to be clear, all have need to be saved, and all can be set free from sin here now by Jesus' power to save from sin. Those that reject Christ and His teachings will be rejected by Him.
