  • The Harmony of the Gospels - In Reply on John 21 - 5 years ago
All the Disciples saw the same events simultaneously, and wrote of it from their point of view; with their differing backgrounds, occupations, all those things that make us individuals. Apostle Paul too.

That's why they are sometimes called The Harmony of the Gospels. That's what makes them so relevant and in agreement. We are able to witness what New Testament Church is supposed to be like. This the Church Jesus went to the Cross for. From one group of 12, to the whole world!

Let us remember that when we feel all alone, picking up our cross every day. We are many!!!

    Wesley's Notes for Revelation 2:19

2:19 I know thy love - How different a character is this from that of the angel of the church at Ephesus! The latter could not bear the wicked, and hated the works of the Nicolaitans; but had left his first love and first works. The former retained his first love, and had more and more works, but did bear the wicked, did not withstand them with becoming vehemence. Mixed characters both; yet the latter, not the former, is reproved for his fall, and commanded to repent. And faith, and thy service, and patience - Love is shown, exercised, and improved by serving God and our neighbour; so is faith by patience and good works.

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 2:19

Re 2:19 The last [to be] greater than the first. "That thy last works are more than the first" (Revised Version). Instead of retrograding, their works grew more excellent.

    Excellent question .

We need to be very careful we are not changing the truth of scriptures, any time . Always confess your errors to the lord , we all make them , the truth will set us free from the errors .

    Deuteronomy 4. 2

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you , neither shall ye diminish ought from it , that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your GOD which I command you .

    Revelation 20:13

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

If God knows where every body is, in the sea,

I'm sure He knows where people's cremated remains are. ( which contain some bone)

Be at peace In your mind. Mishael

I am happy that the people who were foretold of at the end of the Book of Daniel are rising up. The Book was shut up, but now it is speaking to hearts.

We have to preach it to people who have grown up with a herd mentality. Perhaps like the swine that ran over a cliff and were drowned (as witnessed of Jesus).

We have to preach it the way Jesus would have it. It's one thing to sit on the mountaintop and See these things revealed. It's another to go down amongst the people and make it plain to them.

There are people who have already sworn allegiance to Antichrist. They may think they will get fame and glory; Antichrist is Not a team player.

Book of Daniel: some things are past; but other things are rapidly appearing. We are living in a time when things are HAPPENING in the world/the news, but it is barely being reported to the public. It is given to us to sit in the watch tower, see it, and report it to the those who will carry it: pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelist's, that will rapidly alert the sea of people who will hear it.

I'm talking about people who are set on going with Jesus when he returns. HOW do you stir people to stand up and follow Jesus, the King? YOU LIFT UP THE STANDARD! You walk forward.

Those who can see, need to herald it.

    Jesus is returning soon.

The signs in Matthew 24 are marching forward with purpose, speed.

Heralding is NO more important as those with feet, or no feet! that publish it to those who are going over a cliff.

Evangelism is the Bible with feet. The intercessors, guide those feet. Is anybody organizing the prayer warriors? Do we really understand what Spiritual Warfare is?

Jesus sits at the right Hand of God, this very minute making Intercession for ALL SAINTS.

Let us do what we know to do. Watch, pray, GO; keep the wedding dress and oil in a backpack. Obey God and obey the law. No zealots needed. Be wise, be in order. Go.

    Hey Diana,

Baptism is now done of the spirit. "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

1 Corinthians 12:13 KJB "And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost."

Acts 11:15-16 KJB God Bless you. You can find me on Facebook with anymore questions.

  • Marisa on Matthew 5:31 - 5 years ago
In today's world things can be very confusing the world says one thing but God's word is unchanging its the same yesterday today and tomorrow and he gave us his word to bring us into a place of truth and understanding for all scripture is useful for teaching training and admonishing in righteousness he does not give us a spirit of confusion but of power love and a sound mind. We need to stay close to his WORD and he'll reveal his truth to our very specific individual circumstances.Do not follow after the pattern of this world. Remember Satan's position is, he is a liar and a thief and he has come to steal and destroy. Remember you have a real enemy out there, and it is not your spouse, because it's not against flesh and blood that we fight.

My own personal testimony , I walked in rebellion for 10 years I separated from my husband legally but I lived the lifestyle that was completely about everything that was about this world. I was in complete rebellion against God and his word and his ways. I came to the end of myself I was like the prodigal son. I had to come to the end of myself I thank God ,my Lord that he brought me to the end of myself With a lot of pain a lot of rejection a lot of separation from people that I loved.

The word of the Lord says confess your sins to one another, as you can approach the throne of God freely without judgement. And so I did just that, I was a very broken woman.

For God will not always hide himself from us or hold his anger against us as we deserve.

He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins. After 10 years I searched my heart and found myself not having any affections for my husband. So instead we stayed friends. And I made my choice to remain single. Not divorcing because God hates devorce. And I keep myself to do Gods work and not look to the flesh. It was very hard at first because of loneliness but The Lord has given me the strength. And although I feel temptations, his Spirit has kept me strong.

If you have truly repented of your sins and have laid them at the foot of the cross then know this, that God is faithful and will keep Hs promises. Rebuke Satan when he brings these sins back into your thoughts. He wants you to dwell in your past sins but God your Father has a better life for you. A life of freedom, freedom from the burden of sin. You are no longer bound by the law but free from the law. You are secure in the hand of the Father, free from condemnation ( John 5:24, Romans 8:1), and NO one can remove you from His grasp. As soon as your past sins come to mind turn to Jesus in prayer and take Him on His promise. Leave it at the cross. Find a list of God's promises and when you read them know that He made those promises to you and that God cannot break a promise.

The events mentioned of what will happen to the jews have already happened. We are now living in Revelation 12, 13, and chapter 14. The three angles message is about to go forth after the image of the beast is revealed, and all is made to worship the beast whose names are not written in the lamb's book of life. Let him that has wisdom count the number of the beast. Daniel chapter 7 and verse 25 identifies what the antichrist would do. Revelation 12 verse 17 tells us who the real saints of God are and who the final church is. Revelation chapter 19 verse 10 tells us they have the gift of prophecy. The people of God in the last days are not a nation, they are saints from every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. The apostate churches will bring Sunday to the supreme court of the united states and pass it into law then all nations will follow. That is why we are called to worship him who made the earth and the sky and the fountains of waters( Revelation 14 verse 6 and seven).

Also, Exodus chapter 20 verses 8-11 tells us who is the creator and why it is important to take time out to glorify Him. Many today will be caught off guard because they are focused on the wrong things.

The grace of God is a free gift given , not our works of any kind even if they fulfill the law like the rich young ruler that refused to follow Jesus .

You can not earn grace it's a gift . But Grace never breaks the laws . We cannot do as we please . If we are led by the spirit of God we do no sin .

Breaking of the law is sin .

As men we can sin by being led into error , or temptation and there is forgiveness, to be found Jesus is now in heaven and is faithful to foregive us our sins if we confess them !

For years, both Israel & Judah continually turned their faces from serving God to serve idols & commit other sins. For this, they went into captivity as punishment. But the Lord promised them to bring them out of captivity & so we read (of Judah) in Jeremiah 29:10-14, where the Lord said that after 70 years He will visit them again & they will once again call upon the Name of the True God, they will pray to Him, & He will listen to Him; they will seek Him & find Him when they search for Him with all their heart.

Proverbs 16:7, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."

Maddie, even though this Proverb may not seem relevant, I think it shows us that if we please the Lord by doing his Will & exuding Christ-likeness, then even our enemies will not be able to deny our position & of those who can rationalize this new behaviour, will confess that it is the Lord Who hath done this.

I'm sure your parents never thought ill of you, rather it was your desire to present yourself in the best light to them. What matters, as you say, is how God sees you - His precious child, & this is all that matters - He will take care of the rest - even using your life & words to testify of His goodness.

Briefly, Daniel, whose name means "God is my Judge", was a statesman in the court of heathen monarchs. He was taken captive as a youth to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar in 605 BC & spent the rest of his long life there as a governmental official & a prophet of the true God. He was the writer of this Book (see Daniel 12:4) as also did Jesus Christ identified him as a prophet ( Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14). Throughout his life, Daniel was uncompromising & faithful to his God.

His times: after King Nebuchadnezzar's death & the eventual appointment of Belshazzar his son, Daniel fell from favour with the Babylonians, but was recalled back to interpret the writing that appeared at Belshazzar's feast (5:13). Daniel was also made one of three presidents under Darius (6:1-3). His ministry was to testify, through his personal life & prophecies, to God's Power. Though Israel was in exile, Daniel told them that God had not deserted them, & Daniel also revealed many details about God's Plan for them in the future. He also traced the course of the Gentile world powers from his own day right up to the second coming of Christ. Daniel wrote this prophecy in about the year 537 BC.

Donna, there are examples in the Bible of those who suicided. One is in 1 Samuel 31:4, when King Saul wanted his armour-bearer to kill him as he was wounded in the battle. He refused, so Saul "fell upon his own sword" & his armour-bearer seeing this & the implications that would have upon him, also did likewise. There is also Samson ( Judges 16:26-30) who with his great strength from the Lord, pulled down the pillars of the building that he was prisoner in, thus killing himself & many Philistines that were gathered there. And then we have Judas Iscariot ( Matthew 27:3-5) who hanged himself after he realized his sin in betraying Jesus.

So even though we have instances of suicide, I don't believe the Bible ever talks specifically about it as being sin. Why we say that suicide is sin, is because by definition, it is self-murder & wilful murder in any form is sin. I know that one who contemplates suicide does so under very trying mental, emotional & physical conditions - a good friend of mine having taken his own life because of severe multiple sclerosis. I tried my best to encourage him & give him hope, but the pain & loss of movement was too much & made existence meaningless. Every avenue should be resorted to so that such a desperate person may receive help & counsel & most cities have a Lifeline phone number to assist.

I appreciated your comment very much Andrew. The teacher/student relationship & accompanying responsibility is a serious one as that 'union' will require much care & consideration of one other. The teacher: that he teaches correctly & with well supported references & appropriate illustrations; & the student: that he learns in all humility & sense a liberty to question or require amplification of that which is before him. The teacher must also be prepared to listen & carefully weigh the propositions or other possibilities that the student presents, even as elementary or unenlightened they may be. When a student has such confidence in his teacher, even as the teacher seeks to impart knowledge with the intent of shaping the mind & character of his student, then an outcome of real & lasting change can be expected. And for you to determine & identify those Spiritual Gifts & character that the Lord so bestows upon the student, will be the catalyst for him to verify & build up on it.

A pastor truly led of the Spirit & so blessed to receive an observation or revelation from his congregant, should with all desire entertain such an occasion, knowing that his ministry is bearing fruit & his member(s) are using their times at home to more useful sacred purposes. Sadly, many pastors often only expect doctrinal or textual criticism & highlighting of their shortcomings at the end of the Lord's Day message. Your encouragement of him will also strengthen his resolve & add to his faith & walk in the Lord. Keep up the good work Andrew & the Lord bless you.
