i believe the come out of her my people, is a call to the in general catholics who are still in the Catholic Church as more and more the Catholic Church is corrupted. The latest from the Pope is a call to recognize civil unions for Gay couples. Think of jewish teaching on homosexality and look at the current catholic teaching. One could do this on Many topics. This pope also has turned to the policy that WORKS is needed for salvation. Basically the Catholic church has now turned into a giant charitable organization. Salvation is a gift from a merciful GOD. Good luck to Catholics who adopt these heretical teachings. I do not think we have to wait long now to know exactly what GOD thinks about the last 50 years. The great falling away could only be missed by someone truly blind. That is no one paticular person but a huge part of the baby boomers on have had basically no religion, didn't say i was any better just pointing out the realities of today.

That is correct Joanne. God had instructed Moses to number the men from twenty yrs of age & above, to have each tribes leaders appointed & be in readiness for war as God had instructed them to conquer the nations before them & to possess the land that God had given them for their inheritance. You can read about the commencement of this thrust into these heathen, idolatrous lands in the book of Joshua.

Bob, we read of this account in 1 Samuel 21:10 to 22:1. Though there is confusion about Abimelech in Psalm 34:1 & the King of Gath, Achish in 1 Samuel 21:10. It's generally agreed that these people are one & the same. Scholars believe that the name Abimelech is actually a title, rather like the title of 'Pharaoh' given to an Egyptian king. So Achish is the king & Abimelech is his title & so we see David addressing him as a king in his Psalm.

The 1 Samuel reference above gives the account, though to read the whole story, you would need to start at 1 Samuel chapter 20:1. David was fleeing King Saul who was out to kill him because David, after his victory with Goliath & the ensuing slaughter of the Philistines, was being praised & adored more than Saul.

After some events, David ended up in Gath to gain refuge from the King (Achish), thinking he would find refuge there as no one would know him outside of Israel. Now Goliath was from Gath, so David in fact, was turning to the enemy's country for refuge - why he opted for this, one can only guess: possibly, the remote chance for an enemy to walk into the city to live. However, Achish's servants did finally recognize David as the one whose praises were proclaimed throughout the regions. So David realizing that he was known, feigned madness by scribbling on walls, dribbling spittle, etc., probably to prove that this 'madman' could not possibly be the dreaded enemy David, but a look-alike, which in turn prompted the King to cast him from his presence. So David then escaped to the cave Adullam.

Correct, from about 12 yrs of age ( Luke 2:42), there is nothing more written about Jesus until his baptism by John the Baptist ( Luke 3:21,22) at about 30 yrs of age. There may be some extra-biblical sources that claim to have more information on Jesus' 'silent' years, but anything outside the Bible cannot be verified as true & I would pay no heed to them.

    Dwayne,

The Lord was pleased with Solomon ( 2 Chronicles 1:1) & so offered to answer his request (1:7-12). And Solomon's wisdom was unmatched anywhere, even as we read through the Song of Songs, Proverbs & Ecclesiastes. As well, he built the first Temple in Jerusalem & expanded the united kingdom of Israel as far as Egypt & the Euphrates River. However, his wisdom even though I'm sure extended into his familial arena, found a weak spot in his heart of flesh: he succumbed to his lust for women. All his wisdom couldn't not alert him to his weakness & avoid impending doom. But it wasn't primarily a physical weakness, but a spiritual one, as his 700 wives & 300 porcupineserrconcubines, pricked & turned his heart to follow after other gods ( 1 Kings 11:1,2) "surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love."

1 Kings 11: 9.10): "And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded." In his wisdom, Solomon even broke the first two Commandments of God, further disqualifying him from further ruler ship.

The lesson we can learn from this is found in 1 Corinthians 10:12: "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." And this warning, Rob has emphasized also. If one so 'wise' as Solomon could succumb & fall into sin, how much more should we take care & learn to take God seriously & use His Gifts wisely.

You have to read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, LuKe and John to see the harmony of scripture from 4 points of view; from 4 men of different Occupations, etc.

Matthew begins with Jesus's Genealogy and birth; and Joseph.

    Mark covers John the Baptist.

Luke, Mary's visitation from Gabriel and the prophesies. Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist.

    John: details Jesus's Ministry

  • Chris - In Reply on John 2:4 - 5 years ago
Since we're not given a whole lot of details to work on, that phrase, "mine hour is not yet come" could be Jesus' declaration that the correct time for the revelation of His Person, Ministry & Purpose in man's redemption had not yet arrived. His Mother would have known that the Divine Seed that was implanted in her about 31 years ago, was now standing in the midst of this marriage ceremony & well able to perform the works of God. And in this hour of need at the ceremony, what a great time it would be to show the people Who Jesus really is as well as help the marriage hosts out. "Killing two birds with one stone" is often a human inclination done because of having a narrow perspective. But Jesus retorted, that the appointed time had not come, but for the sake of his Mother's request (& maybe, her pleas), Jesus consented to her wish.

I see this event as both Jesus' acknowledgement of his familial position as a son before his Mother as well as being directed by His Heavenly Father for the planned revelation of His Son to Israel. All that the Father has purposed for His Son (& for each one of us) fits perfectly into His timeline & order, so even though "His hour (of revelation) had not yet come", this 'first' miracle at this particular time would not necessarily throw the Divine timing out, rather, brought it forward a notch with the other events that showed the divinity of Jesus naturally following on according to that Plan.

  • Timing is Everything - In Reply on John 2:4 - 5 years ago
This instance was Jesus's first miracle performed. He wasn't rebuking Mary. He was reminding that the appointed time to begin doing miracles had not yet arrived.

They both knew he could; the time to begin had not bean given by The Father yet.

In my experience; don't run ahead of the Lord. I did, Once. I was promptly corrected. (The Holy Spirit was speaking to my spirit)..."are you ready to do it My Way?"

    (Concerning street evangelism.)

He didn't reprove me. Just asked a question. I learned to LOVE hearing that Shepherd's voice that day!!!

The penalty for adding to, or subtracting truths written in the Bible.

    Book of Revelation 22

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall ADD unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Mishael comment: this a strong warning For all of us; me too.

    Revelation 22:2

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

    >>Wesley's Notes for Revelation 22:2

In the midst of the street - Here is the paradise of God, mentioned: Rev 2:7, Is the tree of life - Not one tree only, but many. Every month - That is, in inexpressible abundance. The variety, likewise, as well as the abundance of the fruits of the Spirit, may be intimated thereby. And the leaves are for the healing of the nations - For the continuing their health, not the restoring it; for no sickness is there.

    >>People's Bible Notes for Revelation 22:2

In the midst of its street. In the Revised Version this is attached to Revelation 22:1. It is the river of life that runs in the street. On each side of the river, watered by it, stands the tree of life . . . yielded her fruit every month. The thought is that it is always fruitful, not limited to certain seasons of fruit bearing. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. We are not to conclude that there were diseases to be healed, but that in the city were the means which banished disease and death." ( Genesis 2:10). Here there is a river, "clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb" ( Revelation 22:1) There was a tree of life in Paradise. In the New Jerusalem, on either side of the river stands the tree of life bearing twelve manner of fruits, or rather fruit twelve times a year, every month. The river and the tree are symbols of the life bestowed by the grace of God. The river flows from the throne of God and the Lamb; from the fountain whence life and immortality come. Everything about the tree is healthful. Even the leaves are for the healing of the nations. There is a book, a river and a tree of life. Christ is the life, and all refer in some way to Christ.

  • Taking the Mark doctrine - In Reply on Tobit 13:6 - 5 years ago
Taking the Mark is a death sentence. You would belong to Satan. Even if you cut your hand off or slice out a large piece of your head. Heaven has already recorded your choice. Even thinking that way, shows we think we can defeat Gods Word.

Making plans to refuse the Rapture of the Church is madness. It's premeditated rebellion against everything. Don't you see that?

Rebellion is AS THE SIN OF WITCHCRAFT.

Jesus is offering the gift of eternal life. He's the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father, but by Him.

It cost Him everything! All we have to do is admit we have sinned. Confess it. Take Jesus's hand and be born again.

Stop trying to convince people in here, they don't have choices. They do; you don't.
