The Chapter begins with the appearance of John, in the wilderness and introduces Jesus, in need of Baptism. The doctrine of John preached was that of repentance. It could be said that repentance calls for a reversal and correction of social and spiritual behaviors. Though preaching John was able to reach the hearer of the Word, in the wilderness of Judea. John concludes, "Repent ye, the Kingdom of God is at hand. John states to Jesus, " I have need to be baptized unto thee and comest thou to me?." Jesus responded, " suffer it be so now for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.
Hello Claire. I can relate to you in your search for a church of Lord Jesus. I was born Catholic and married to a Catholic lady - had a successful married life. We have a son and daughter successful in their careers, married with kids. I was blessed as a Registered Nurse, entrepreneur and investor, financially well of, my wife was a school teacher I asked to quite her job just so we have time together. In 2008, she asked to retired and travel enjoy life. Unfortunately before leaving for our plan to travel, she was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer, had surgery and went to rounds of Chemotherapy but without success. I witnessed her slowly get weak and dying, was given 3 months to live. So I asked her if she believe what the doctor said, she said no only God knows. I said I also believe only God knows, so we refused any further treatment and have faith in God. God lead us to a homeopathic doctor in Mesa Arizona who is a believer in God. Our doctor changed our diet to Vegan, lots of fresh green veggies other ingredient of green juice and reading the Bible. On the 11th month of doing this, she was free of cancer, I was healed of all my diseases as well.
However, her damaged immune system didn't protect her from pneumonia a few weeks later, the cancer came back, I b died 09/09/09. This all happened during the financial crisis, my real estate investment and stocks holdings suffered devastating loss.
I told her we pray to God to get me first instead of her, but she rebuked me, said it's God's will and she is happy about it. Before she passed she gave 3 advices: get married, stop chasing money, instead serve God by helping others. After she passed, God confirmed this in my dream. I stopped chasing money. I asked God to give tolls to help me help others and God did. So I prayed day and night to God to give me a Christian wife and God did.

I try to spend time with my heavenly Father, but I fail again and again
Please pray for me to have a long and deep time with GOD
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Thanks for your reply. No worries about the mix up about the church being the believers & not a building.
Regarding The Way Prepared. 'Our Greatest Hindrance'. I'm just searching for the truth as to which day is the true Sabbath Day, so that I don't continue to break any of the ten commandments. I don't really enjoy going to church at all personally. I'm not a fan of hymns & prefer Christian songs, Everyone uses vain repetitions in their long prayers. (I do this myself at home because I'm unsure of the right way to pray ?) Are we suppose to just say the Lord's prayer because God knows our hearts & what we need before we even ask ? Our bible study consists on one of the pastors reading about 5 verses from the new or old testament & then them giving their opinion for about 30 mins & we're just expected to take it as gospel & not question it. (the main pastor loves to go round shaking people's hands after the service looking for complements on the sermon) I rarely agree & make a sharp exit were possible, so I don't feel obliged to shake his hand. I know that women aren't suppose to speak in church & are supposed to ask our husbands about things, but seeing that I'm not married, this isn't an option for me. Another thing that bothers me is whether I'm doing the right thing going to church ? I'm the only Christian among my friends & family, so if I don't go to church I'm feel I'm more likely to go backwards on my walk, rather than move forwards. Is fellowship with people online enough for me to grow in the faith ? I honestly don't know.
Regarding 'What are the Ten Commandments'. I haven't read the article. I think we should follow the ten commandments & the new commandments that Jesus gave us. I don't think we can get to heaven just by following the commandments or just trusting in the blood of Jesus. I think we need to do both.
God bless you & your family.
Kind Regards
Claire
Mt. 5:14-16 says about being the light, a city set on a hill, not to be hid. Those that are saved are to be seen and recognized for what God has done. We are to show through salvation from sin the example of what man should be. If your light is the same as those that are lost, how can it be seen? Through God's power I have become a saint, one that does not sin by salvation from sin and sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 2 separate acts that fully save a person. As said before, 1 Jn 3:8-9 says those in sin are of the devil or born of God sinless. I used to be under Satan's control. I used to sin because it was in my heart to do those sinful acts. Sanctification changes that sinful desire, it's rooted out, replaced with the Holy Ghost. It is a second separate act. The heart of man can't be left empty or you have the condition mentioned of in Mt 12:43-45.
We must accept that God as Creator could have set the rules for salvation to whatever He wanted. He requires us to repent to be forgiven. He needed us to be saved from sin or He can't fellowship as with Adam in the beginning. Sin always separates man from God. Is. 59:1-2 Sin keeps God from hearing your prayers except 1 of repentance. Being saved from sin is a way to see that person as different than others.
How many religions are there? Many. Are all right. No. God has one Church. It is listed in the Bible. Mt 16:18 Jesus said He'd build His Church, gates of Hell shall not prevail. Sin is not in His Church. Ac 20:28 1 Co 1:2 10:32 11:22 15:9 2 Co 1:1 Ga 1:13 1 Tim 3:5 1 Co 11:16 1 Th 2:14 2 Th 1:4 Church of God is named in the Bible, churches of God as there are more than 1 congregation but still the same standard in all. 1 Co 1:10 all speak the same. Same standard, doctrine for all God's congregations. Why the confusion of doctrine? Only 1 is right. Is your church named in the Bible? No then come out of Babylon Re 18:4.
You are all in my prayers. Jesus Christ is Lord! The way the truth and the life!
"So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."
King James Bible1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever
Psalms 33:6
"By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth."
We can know there's 'us' when God created man, as God said 'Let us make man in our image.'
They are spiritual group affiliation belong to God ( Revelation 4). God creates the affiliation on earth like as it is in heaven.
I prayed for your nephew Avery and his parents.
I'm so sorry to read about this difficult time in your life.
May God give you peace and strength to endure it all.

I have lifted up your son, Joey's name in prayer for both healing and salvation.
May God bless you both.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, Wood, Hay, Stubble.
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day (Bema Seat) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide (doesn't burn up) which he hath built on, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved;
2 Corinthians 5:10-11
For we must all appear before the Bema judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
Revelation 3:11-12
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one can take away your crown. 12 The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never depart from it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God that comes down out of heaven, and my new name as well.
COMMENT:
We should serve the Lord out of love and for God's glory, and understanding the nature of rewards will help us do that. God gives us salvation. It is a gift through faith, but He rewards us for good works. God graciously supplies the means by which we may serve Him. He works in us both to WILL and to DO, as we willingly receive His grace, but the decision to serve, and the diligence used in doing so, are our responsibility and our contribution and God sees this as rewardable.

It's noteworthy, that in eastern cultures, certainly in times of the Old Testament, that when a guest comes to your house, he is regarded with the highest honour possible, both in receiving the best you have to offer as well as full protection. The only right thing for Lot to do when confronted by those depraved men at his door was to offer his daughters so that his guests would not be humiliated or hurt. I did wonder why Lot didn't offer himself - it would have been the more noble thing to do. I realize that this type of behaviour is a difficult concept for us to grasp & should not be used as an excuse for such sin, but that's how it was.
In regards to God dealing with Lot - we just don't know. Did God severely chastise him & judge him & ultimately relegated him to the abyss? Or, did Lot realize his great folly & cry out to God in repentance, having also been witness to his Uncle Abraham's sins of the past & possible repentance at the altar he made ( Genesis 12:12-20; 13:1-5)? We can only speculate, rather than condemn Lot & his daughters entirely. And we know that God never overlooks sin & judgement remains for those who spurn His Love by sinning. Yet His Mercy extends to all sinners & His Grace to fully forgive the penitent.
