Thank you for your words of encouragement. I know that no church is perfect. I left my old church because most people read different bible's and I had concerns about a few things, but when I told my pastor, he just fobbed me off. A couple of my friends from that church had similar experiences with him too. One of them now goes to another church, but the other one is still there. I told the pastor about a guy called Doc Marquis that was raised in an Illuminati family, but became a Christian in 1979 and dedicated his life to expose the truth about "America's Occult Holidays", like Christmas, Easter, Halloween, but he just said that I shouldn't believe everything that I listen to online, and to not to share this info with anyone at church because everyone celebrates them holidays and that they would be offended by it. I had similar experiences when I told him about a guy called Adam Johnson who made a DVD called "King James ? Or 400 Counterfeits ?" but he fobbed me off on this too. I tried to inform him about a few other things too, but then gave up and joined the church that I'm at now. Everyone reads the KJV bible there, so that gave me a bit of peace, but they still celebrate the holidays which concerns me. I have told the pastors there too but they just fob me off too, and told me not to share this info.

I know what you mean about the bible study needing someone mature in the faith because me and the new woman tried to do our own bible study, but she doesn't know the bible that well, so every time I told her scriptures from the bible, if she didn't agree with it, she would get angry with me. I try to keep my distance from her now because I feel like she's affecting my progress and my well being, and I have enough trouble with this with my mum and my daughter at home being non Christians.

When I read the words.."If ye were of the world, the world would love his own" I hear the devil in replace of "his". For I know the world we live in is the devils.

I've been trying to find "We created you in our own image" in the Bible but have had no luck! A friend and I have been discussing this. We think that it is somewhere in Genesis. I believe that the 'We' is Jesus and the Lord or God. Help please!

That was very beautifully put Chris. Like I said before, sometimes I feel like the dog that has been raised by his master all his life and cannot hate his master even after the most horrible beating imaginable, which is what I call UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. Where is the dog to go because there is only one master. Not only is it love but you can throw respect and fear in there too. The master is the one with the sustenance of life, food, water, shelter and companionship. I have been that dog before on several occasions. I am not certain about the reference chapter and verse of this quote but I remember reading it, "And because I have brought all this evil upon them I shall surely render unto them all the good which I have promised." I am certain that my mother will find many mercies in her next destination and probably already has. I loved her dearly along with my Dad. He was close to the Lord and was really LUCKY to die in his sleep. Loving, fearing and respecting the Lord are true keys to a happy life.

Please explain verse15 of Romans 5

John says that Andrew followed him and told Simon Peter about him and they followed him.

The other scriptures say they were in a boat and he called them and they immediately left the boat and followed him. How do these relate to aone another?

Hi Kenneth, thank you for visiting & writing in here. Yes, growing up in the world, or even in school, as a Christian is very difficult indeed. We have all sorts of temptations & pressures to conform to what the majority do and think & we know that is not what God has planned for His children. When I was 14 yrs old, I too could find no one at school who believed in God & Jesus as I was taught at home - fortunately, my family loved the Lord & brought me up to read the Bible & obey God's directions.

In your time of prayer, ask God to give you some good friends, especially someone who knows Jesus personally. And even with other friends, you can still be the Light that God needs to shine His Love to them - and God puts His Light in so many different places so that people might hear the Good News that Jesus saves us from sin's penalty. Yes, your friends will notice the difference in you & even if they think less of you, your genuine love & friendship for them will show them Who God is & what a true friendship is all about.

So be encouraged Kenneth, stay close to the Lord, read His Word often, & talk to Him when you feel alone or when you are misunderstood by those you care for. He will bless you & use you in special ways - ways that you may not even be conscious of. All that God asks of us His children, is to be His "salt & light" to the world ( Matthew 5:13, 14). But if you feel alone or want to ask a question or have a chat, we would be delighted to see you again. May the Lord bless you richly.

Where did you find 'eunoch'? Any Scripture you can give for us to check on?

Nancy, that's a fair question. There are a couple of references to this:

a. Matthew 5:3. "poor in spirit". This refers to the condition of the heart rather than to not having wealth. It means to be humble, having a proper humble (not debasing) opinion of oneself. These folk have a 'spirit' that will be more attune to the Kingdom of God, recognizing that they are nothing before God & have nothing to present to God to try & elevate themselves. Unlike the 'rich in spirit' who are the opposite, trusting in themselves, their accomplishments, authority or power. These don't have the characteristics that would bring them close to God, trusting in themselves rather than God. These things (the Beatitudes) Jesus spoke to His disciples, as also in:

b. Luke 6:20. "Blessed be ye poor". Again speaking to His disciples, this word from Luke gives the sense that the disciples were ordinary folk, having left all to follow their Master. Some were already 'financially' poor as the fishermen, others like Matthew the publican may have had wealth. Whatever their financial state, the criteria for discipleship was leaving all worldly goods behind & learning from their Master. To have wealth & thus being blessed by God as the people were taught, usually meant that that would interfere with their singular focus on the objective: one 'cannot serve two masters', Jesus said. So Luke seems to imply that both poverty as well as mental humility are required for truly hearing & accepting Christ's message: that worldly possessions should not get in the way - that was the true blessing = happiness. And these messages were confined to the heart condition pre-Cross. After Jesus' death & resurrection, the Spirit changes one's heart, mind & perspective of life & worldly possessions.

And yes, you can give to the poor to meet their needs, but they, including those with money, still need to respond to the Gospel in humility & repentance to receive salvation & be a part of God's Kingdom.

Claire, I've been following your comments & I agree that this can be a disheartening frustrating experience when you hear preaching that doesn't conform to God's Word or from peoples' negative comments about Bible study groups, etc. No Church will be perfect as they are made up of imperfect people like you & me. There always has to be some leeway given to Church practice & teaching, but if your spirit is troubled by it, then leaving that group is necessary.

It's a little like the upcoming U.S. elections: Christians supporting both sides will find rights & wrongs in all the parties, but a vote needs to be given to the one they judge best. The other option would be to vote for a minor party (e.g. a Christian/family-based one) which might conform more to one's beliefs & expectations, though realizing that that party will never bring forward the next President. Then the other option is not to vote at all, as all parties to some extent violate the requirements of God. So where does this leave the voter or, similarly, what does the believer do with Churches that don't conform to the Scriptures? If things appear hopeless, then abstain from attending Church until you're able to find another; just as one could do in the political arena. But never neglect your personal time of Bible reading & prayer.

Bible studies at a Home Group or in Church are important for the more intensive study of the Word but also for enjoying fellowship with one another. As well, one gets support, prayer & counsel when it may be easier to share intimately with those you're close to. Yet, without a mature leader overseeing the Study, these meetings can become breeding grounds for error, for which your Pastor fears. What other Fellowships are in your area/City? You may need to attend a few to decide.

The poor in spirit are the ones that admit that we desperately need a savior from our sin, Jesus Christ:

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. ( Proverbs 11:4)

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. ( Isaiah 55:1-3)

The Lord understands that life won't always treat us well, whether to us personally or to those whom we love. Of course, this is all because of the presence of evil in us & in the world. Why people who've done nothing wrong against God or others & also innocent children have to also suffer, will always be perplexing to us & reason to accuse God. Yet, when we recover from that anger & hatred against God we must find room in our hearts to consider that God finds no pleasure in our suffering & death: Ezek 18:32 "For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye."

Yes, He can take away that pain & looming death, but for those who love Him, He waits to see our true response to Him - coming in implicit faith & trust that He does all things well & for our good. And we know for faith to work & produce the desired fruit, means that the object of our faith must be fully believed in & deemed totally trustworthy & reliable. Man will fail us, as will governments & family & friends, sometimes showing us our misplaced faith. But God can never be faulted & can never be accused & for those who do, whether ignorantly or deliberately, they can look forward to specific dealings by God.

Your testimony shows us that ultimately God had His Hand upon your life even bringing you to Him in spite of the sorrow of losing your Mother in that grievous way. Many would have turned against God, as my Uncle did, to their eternal damnation, but he spared you, gave you a lovely & loving family & yes, a living testimony to His Power & Grace. Sadly, pain will come to us - I might have to suffer it in the future - but my prayer is that in spite of physical/mental torment, I will cling onto the One, in Whose Hands my life is hid & secure through all eternity. Leave the pains of the past - I've had to - as that is the only way to be able to truly worship & glorify the Lord in your heart & through your life - this is real Faith.

Claire, I hear your heart and I totally understand. I believe that we as believers should be led by the Holy Spirit and not be under the control of a man or a woman.

It is okay to question any doctrine that is contrary to the Word of God. There is definitely a problem when we are just sitting and listening to someone who is teaching the Word of God, and are supposed to accept their interpretation of the Bible. In The Acts of the Apostles the Bereans searched the Scriptures for themselves to see what they were hearing was the truth. I believe this is how we are deceived by erroneous doctrine and false beliefs.

The Bible encourages us to study to show ourselves approved of God.... 2Timothy 2:15 I encourage you to seek the Holy Spirit as to what you should do and not depend on man. To be honest with you I am concerned, this is how cults are started. When the sheep cannot think for themselves and are indoctrinated to think a certain way.

Again, I say pray and trust the Good Shepherd to lead you. I do believe the correct way to handle this situation is to take whatever questions you have to the one who is teaching the Bible study, to avoid any discord. It is wise not to share your concerns with other members of the congregation that you are a part of.
