Thou art my God, I will exalt thee. Thou hast exalted me, and as far as my praises can do it, I will exalt thy name. Jesus is magnified, and he magnifies the Father according to his prayer, "Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee." God hath given us grace and promised us glory, and we are constrained to ascribe all grace to him, and all the glory of it also. The repetition indicates a double determination, and sets forth the firmness of the resolution, the heartiness of the affection, the intensity of the gratitude. Our Lord Jesus himself saith, "I will praise thee"; and well may each one of us, humbly and with confidence in divine grace, add, on his own account, the same declaration, "I will praise thee." However others may blaspheme thee, I will exalt thee; however dull and cold I may sometimes feel myself, yet will I rouse up my nature, and determine that as long as I have any being that being shall be spent to thy praise. For ever thou art my God, and for ever I will give thee thanks.

I was searching for Acts 7:56 but the verse was omitted from this result?

1 Peter 3:22 - Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Acts 5:31 - Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 2:33 - Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Hebrews 1:13 - But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Those were very interesting, thought-provoking comments that you shared there, Spike, to which I fully concur. BTW, the matter of Paul's occupation, can be found in Acts 18:1-3. I think we can have both the cheerful giver of tithes & those that give of necessity. But the point really is, should the matter of tithing that was instituted for Israel's performance, also be compelled upon believers today?

Tithing was, as said in my previous comment, a command given for the support of those who were responsible in the Tabernacle ( Lev 27:30-32; Deut 14:22-24). Then under the New Covenant, the early Church was encouraged to give generously for the support of the needy ( Acts 2:43-47; 4:32-37; 11:27-30; Gal 2:10; 1 Cor 16:1-4; 2 Cor chaps 8 & 9). No where were those believers encouraged to tithe but to offer freely & according to their ability. Today, our Churches are much bigger, accountable to the govt. & required to pay staff, rent, utilities, etc. So should the command to tithe, which was the charge to Israel, now also be upon the Church today?

In fact, if we study the 'tithes' that Israel had to give throughout the year, someone has worked it out that with everything considered, they actually ended up giving about 20 percent of their increase. And to the folk who support tithing now, I wonder whether they calculate their stock/share profit at the close of Trading on Friday & then work out their interest received on their investments & deposits, plus of course, ten percent also of their salary or wages prior to giving their tithe on Sunday? If they don't do all these calculations, would there be any guilt harboured in possibly giving a shortfall to the Lord's Work? After all, if obedience to the Law is imperative, then it should be done without error, I would think. I would rather spare myself this agony, and just give according to my desire, bearing in mind the greater need that exists in the work of the Church, Missions & the needs of others.

In Matthew 7:12, Jesus was stating the type of behaviour that we should show to others: a behaviour that is gentle, kind, understanding, without hatred, without jealousy. If we expect others to have this type of attitude towards us, then we must also show them the same. We can't expect graciousness from others if we are not prepared to show them likewise.

Then in 1 Peter 3:9, Peter says the same thing about our attitude, except that if someone does evil to us (with lies, anger, hurt, etc.) instead of good, then we don't repay with evil to them. So the message from both the Matthew & 1 Peter passages tells us that whatever comes our way from others, whether good or bad, our response must always be good & above reproach to them, as those that profess godliness.

Sherrie, I'm not sure whether this lady was thinking of one verse in Revelation that showed three heavens or whether in many verses you could find them. There are many verses about heaven in Revelation & in the Bible, but I've picked out some that show 4 heavens in Revelation.

    a. Heaven, the abode of God & His Holy Angels: Rev 4:2: "And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in HEAVEN, and one sat on the throne".

    b. Heaven, the universe that contains the worlds (the planets, stars & constellations): Rev 6:13: "And the stars of HEAVEN fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind."

    c. Heaven, the sky that has our atmosphere & clouds: Rev 11:6: "These have power to shut HEAVEN, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will."

    d. Heaven, that God re-creates in the future that will be totally new, where wickedness will have no more access (i.e. after Satan is locked away for good): Rev 21:1: "And I saw a new HEAVEN and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."

Those under 20 years old were taught too for forty years in the wilderness. Yes, those over 20 years old did not cross over The Jordon, except fir Joshua and Caleb. The Law versus Grace. Law was given to understand grace. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law in His Crucifixion at Calvary and His Resurrection. Yes, we continue to confess sins that we commit after being Born Again in Christ. How does one become Born Again Sealed with The Holy Spirit Through Jesus Christ? If only we could see with God's Eyes who really do have The Actual Seal of The Holy Spirit Through a True Miracle Manifestation of This. Salvation belongs to God. We step out in faith and God performs The Miracle of Eternal Salvation In Christ to manifest in a human being. The Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and Sinners' Prayer (The Sinners' Prayer amended to include that we are born eternally separated from God because of Adam's Sin and we need to be atonement At One Ment with God through The Grace of Jesus Christ with faith and true heartedness on our part. So it is to be in Christ, to continue to grow in Christ, and to be in Sabbath Rest in Christ. Good works do apply too. Not religiously spirited, but with a personal relationship heart attitude with God. Ask All Three of God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit to abode in one's heart and soul is to be done after being in Christ.

God can use a truck experience to prepare the hearts of folks to be fertile ground for how to be Born Again in Christ.

It is like becoming a butterfly from being a worm. A new creation.

Hello, my opinion is that Jesus did not destroy the law, but fulfilled it, because Jesus literally said that in Matthew 5:17. I also believe the moral law still applies, such as do not kill. If we do, that's a sin. Jesus said go and sin no more. If sin didn't exist or was impossible for us to sin, then he wouldn't have kept warning and talking about the parables over and over to his followers (Christians). God bless.

Romans 1 speaks on perversions that people do to each other and kids too.

    Romans 1:26 and forward:

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: [women laying with women]

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. [disease]

28 And even as they did not like to

    retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, WICKEDNESS, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

It's not mentioned but surely in 2020 we can understand, since it's frequently on the evening news!! that our society is sex trafficking children of both sexes. Kids are grabbed off the streets in broad daylight.

Pedophiles and kiddie porn addicts find many victims on Facebook!! Little kids tell where they live; they don't know the danger.

Get rid of social websites! It's a killing field.

Ask the cops that hunt the traffickers and pedophiles.

You could never convince me that Facebook was invented for evangelism. It was invented to destroy AOL chat rooms and be king of social networks. I'm old, I saw people who had their whole lives imploded because they used aol to lead secret lives.

Nowadays it's all out there in the open. Little children being destroyed. WWJ say?

  • Apostle Paul the Tent Maker on Matthew 27 - 5 years ago
    Wesley's Notes for Acts 18:3

18:3 They were tent makers by trade - For it was a rule among the Jews (and why is it not among the Christians?) to bring up all their children to some trade, were they ever so rich or noble.

People's Bible Notes for Acts 18:3

Ac 18:3 Because he was of the same occupation, he abode with them. This is the first mention of the handicraft by which so often during his toilsome life Paul earned his daily bread. Every Jewish boy was taught a trade, and Paul no doubt learned his in Tarsus.

    Compare Acts 20:34, 1 Thessalonians 2:9, 2 Thessalonians 3:8, 1 Corinthians 4:12, 2 Corinthians 11:9.

What an amazing testimony Paul had: born a Jew; became a high ranking Pharisee. Became a citizen of Rome: served warrants to kill Christians (see Stephens death).

Confronted on the Damascus Road, on his way to serve more warrants: and was confronted by Jesus Christ.

At the end of this chapter 18, Paul decides to minister to the Gentiles which was his calling. His entire ministry is a marvel when you consider all of the things he endured for the sake of His Savior. He did what he knew to be doing.

Do we know what to be doing?

    Matthew 26:31-46

    Revelation 14:12-13

It's not a law to do something for Jesus. It's an act of Love, a privilege, it's worship and adoration. Love makes us want to give love.

That's Him, inside of our spirit and soul. Do you feel it? We are indwelled with Someone so powerful...that even death could not stop it. He walked out of that tomb in the glorious power of Love.

God so loved the world! That He GAVE...his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him, should Not perish, but have everlasting life.

    Love gives.

We give love because He loves us.

Obeying laws is an insult to this kind of Love. We never can be good enough in our own power to emulate the God-kind of Love.

    It's simply giving.

My comments are on verses 14-16 where the Lord Jesus Christ completely destroys the Old Testament, Christ is our peace who has made both Jew and Gentile one new man as a Christian, he alone has broken down the middle wall being the O/T which separates Jews and Gentiles. Having abolished, meaning to destroy in his flesh that O/T which kept the Jews and Gentiles at war, this is the law of Moses that had commandments contained in ordinances, in order to make in himself from two people a new man being a Christian, reconciling both Jew and Gentile unto God in one body by the cross having killed the Old Testament.

It's good for Christians to ask questions like about the sabbath and discuss it. To me that's part of trying to optimize their live to avoid sin and please the Lord. That shows they care about doing what's right. Christianity (following Christ) is an active pursuit which involves behavior modification, growth, and trying to serve others to the best of our ability. Some of this is trial and error, discovering our gifts, and asking questions. So, questions and respectful discussions are welcomed. I think studying the scripture and asking questions more likely leads to strengthening faith. God bless.

Ezra 9:2 builds up on what verse 1 had to say, i.e. the people of Israel, their priests & Levites had failed to separate themselves from the heathen around them, rather partook of their abominations. A part of their unfaithfulness to the Lord was their intermarrying with the heathen (taking women for themselves thereby corrupting the 'holy seed' = God's chosen people & opening up the way for further departure from the things of the true God). So Ezra isn't talking about incest here rather unfaithfulness to God & corrupting their Holy standing before God.

And the same applies to us today who love the Lord through His Son, that we are "not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14. This applies not only in marriage, but also in our relationships & business interests. We need to converse with them, work with them, understand them & bring them the Gospel, but not to to be bound in a way that could distract us from truly following Christ, thus polluting the Holy Seed & Life God has bestowed upon us.

I would like to pray for all the people on here that are having serious problems and more than they can deal with. I guess I could be wrong in the way I think but if you have a roof over your head, bills paid up, everyone ok, food on the table and a good warm bed to sleep in every night the I consider that blessed and wanting to be rich is not my idea of needing prayer. I pray for everyone that is having overwhelming problems, kids bad sick, no money to pay the bills or buy any food and other major problems that Jesus will take care of you and if you ask he will! Amen my friends.

  • Mishael on the Sabbath Debates on John 20 - 5 years ago
    Mark 2:27

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.

    Matthew 12:8

For the Son of man is LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY.

    Mark 2:28

Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

    Luke 6:5

And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Clearly The Lord is saying that HE IS the Lord of the Sabbath. If you will scour the NEW TESTAMENT on the Sabbath, you will quickly see that Jesus not only healed people on the Sabbath; He preached to thousands on the Sabbath.

The Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes all banded together to destroy Jesus for it, too.

What kind of people call themselves Christian followers of Jesus and lead others to believe we Get To Debate which day of the week is the Sabbath?

How very hastily we walk the wide road into Apostacy. Or, loss of reward at The Bema Seat Judgement of Christ: where there will be rewards or loss of rewards?

Jesus says clearly that He alone is the Lord of the Sabbath. We follow Jesus; not what the world, or other religions teach.

Didn't Jesus pay enough for us to believe what he said and did?

Why don't we dig into the scriptures of what Apostacy is? I've never seen that one debated in here. It's about knowing the right things to do or just walking away from it altogether.

Don't email because this subject is closed, for me, for now.
