Fred, may the Holy Spirit grace us with his understanding, when the (children of the resurrection) physical body dies our spirit (now one with the Spirit of God through the work of Christ) in the twinkle of an eye we (corruptible) shall put on Christ (incorruption), and this mortal (us) shall put on Christ (immortality). I Timothy 6:16 Who (Christ) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light (God)...... Luke 20:35-36 But they (children of the resurrection) which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that (Spirit) world, and the resurrection from the dead....(vs) 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Psalms 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire. Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Psalms 149:6-9 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edge sword in their hand; (vs) 7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen (nations), and punishments upon the people; (vs) 9 To execute upon them the judgement written, this honour have all his saints.... Revelation 14:6 And I say another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on earth ( Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years (church age) are expired, (the children of) Satan shall be loosed out of his (Gods) prison (the grave, the wages of sin is death), and to every nation, and kindred and tongue and people. Matthew 13:33 And the kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven (Spirit of God) which a woman ( Galatians 4:26 new, spiritual Jerusalem the mother of us all) took and hid in three measures of meal (us, the meat offering to God), till the whole (lump, all mankind) was leavened (by the Spirit of God).

This scripture is very relevant for this time. We live in a day when people are sad and depressed. Covid 19 demands that we wear masks and live almost in isolation. This virus have placed restraints on our way of life; it exposed our vulnerabilities and our helplessness. Who can we depend on? they are all overwhelm. All that can be shaken have shaken and who can fix it? But God. We have lost focus.

Actually "Poor in Spirit" means just that. Period. It means you are living from the perspective of the flesh. The beatitudes are actually petitions for you to repent (turn) your fleshy ways and be blessed by concentric events that create a Child of God. The poor in Spirit then must mourn to comforted as the blessing. What are they mourning? That self that must die for the spirit to come forth meek and be grounded in the inheritance of the earth's true bounty, for like Cain we've forsaken stewardship.

The Beatitudes are coaxial wheels within wheels that are in fact the little commandments mentioned in 5:19. What follows 19 are the comparison of in the world and not of it actions to the law. In other words how it is to be fulfilled.

Christ then gives us the mirror of the circular Lord's Prayer to help us along this road out of long suffering or the moments misfortune and sin that needs to be handled unlike did Cain handle his correction when God the Father did invite him to be blessed and do his homework over. The Beatitudes are this tool for correction.

    Thanks Chris,

    Your answer was spot on.

I can see you spend a lot of time reading and understanding what God's word is reviling to you.

I often tell my friends: Its not remembering the chapter and verse but what the chapter and verse places in your heart/soul.

    Thanks again for your answer.

Jesus said to his disciples, "Be not afraid only believe". How simple, how to the point, and yet even the most knowledgeable, Bible learned , have yet come to grips with death. This is the subject that is the underlying reason why Christ came and died on the cross! As many times as I have read the scripture, physical death is and remains thee most difficult reality we face! It is in fact, the most unnatural occurrence we face in this life! Oh, that I could say the words of Thomas as he put his fingers into Christs side, and felt the wounds in His hands!"My Lord and my God"! Comprehending Christ words, understanding His will, are as simple as only believing! Unlike anything in this world, hearing His word, prayer, these are what we have, even the promise of eternal life! I believe the kjv is the spoken word of Jesus Christ! When you read this BOOK, you are hearing precisely from the creator of heaven and earth! My heart yearns to know Him as He is! Is this the same yearning we have when we loose a loved one? I have lost my little brother, and yet even after all these years ,I feel like He has never left. God Bless You, give you comfort in knowing that He is the great "I AM".

    Back on the same page with the link to come in this room;

Look for the Link that says "Become a Christian".

This has a lot of information on how to be sure that you have been born again and received the Holy Spirits baptism. Help to people who are suffering with spiritual warfare.

If some demon is trifling with you, just ask the Holy Spirit to HELP you, and TEACH you how to fight back.

Ephesians 6 tells us that demons are invisible. A person who doesn't have knowledge of these things, is unable to make them leave you alone. Read the Bible every day. Start at Matthew and head all the way past 1,2,3, John.

You might watch some Greg Laurie videos on YouTube.

I notice that someone has put the Bible on Youtube as read by Alexander Scourby.

I'll pray for the Lord to shield you from satans attacks; as you begin to learn how to fight back. Praise the Lord.

    To Barbara:

I am so blessed to hear of how you are doing now. I lost my Mom a few years ago. Every time I start missing me, seeing her in her rocking chair; I think of her in heaven. It truly makes me happy.

Another story: after I was saved I lost my bar hopping friends rapidly. I invited them to sit with me at church. I was so lonely. I asked Jesus to help me make some new friends. Bam! I met an older gentleman at church who counseled me after I was saved because I had been in the occult; and had to learn spiritual warfare real quick.

He introduced me to his daughter and her husband who had a storefront church; all of sudden I have lots of new friends. That's when I got into street ministry. I had so much fun! I bless the Lord for carrying his baby lambs to all the right places and people.

Since I had been delivered from evil spirits, I was afraid when they would want to pray with me to receive the Holy Spirit. I had to be taught Who he is. John 16 and 17. Years later I knew the Holy Spirit was with me that first day I met Jesus.

Find a Church that greets you when you show up...every time.

Find out if they have a singles group, people your own age. We had potlucks or went to I-hop and got nachos for 6 ! It was great to hear how everybody came to believe in Jesus.

I guess to have friends, you have to be friendly. This is a whole change of direction in your walk with Jesus. Your mother is happy where she is; and probably making all new friends too. There's many gems of wisdom in Proverbs about making friends.

Song of Solomon is a book about how much Jesus loves us: I am My Beloveds...and my beloved is Mine!

One time I was trying to move a huge cedar chest down a hallway with un-tacked carpet. I was exhausted and prayed: I need my Beloved to help me move this, because I can't do it alone. Thank you Lord. I get up, put my hands on it and it moved easily where I had wanted it to go.

Give Jesus a Chance to be a friend.

    Page 2.

I am also concerned that maybe you have not experienced a new birth in Christ. This is essential as I shared in my initial four pages to you. Without being transformed by the Spirit of God, all you'll continue to have is an outward semblance of Christianity without the forgiveness, new life & power of God in you. Is that how you feel now or have you experienced a spiritual change in your life?

You also said that you haven't found a Church yet. I really feel that in your transitional position, you need a Church Pastor or Elder to counsel you & guide you in ways that we can't do here on this Site. Maybe if you find a Church near to you (as I mentioned in my previous comment) & call them & explain your position & grief since losing your Mother, they may be able to send someone to visit you to share & advise you. Please don't neglect attending a Church fellowship as Jesus has built His Church - His Body for a special reason (i.e. not Protestant or Catholic, etc.) but those that have come to Him by faith through the Cross. You're not saved by attending or belonging to a Church - salvation is through Christ alone. And when you meet with other believers & learn from the Bible together, then you grow in your faith & knowledge of God & you have folk who will support you in prayer & friendship. Do try to speak to someone to get help with this matter: it's very important.

May the Lord be with you at this time. Our prayers are with you Barbara.

Hello Barbara. I remember you well even though over two months have gone by. Thank you for writing again & letting us know of your welfare. You know, we're always around to share with you, help & encourage you in your often difficult life. So sorry to learn of your medical issues, but the Lord has brought you through & sustained you, for which we can praise & thank Him.

In regards to prayer & the Roman Catholic aspects of it, I realize that that is what you've learned & are accustomed to, but prayer is just 'talking with God': praising Him for Who He is & the life He has given you; praying for your concerns & for those you are concerned for; & asking Him to help you understand His Word, the Bible, that it will become real & precious to you. The Hail Marys, reciting the Rosary & any formative approach to God achieves nothing; what God wants from you are the words from your heart. I know that this is something you may not feel comfortable in doing but just get on your knees & talk to God as you would have talked & shared with your dear Mother. No appeal is needed to Mary or the saints - only to God alone. He always listens and He always answers when we come in faith & love.

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.(Mathew 11:7-10)

Dale, the Bible Trivia might be a fun thing to do & a test of your Bible knowledge, but please don't let it be a yardstick to determine your knowing God & His Will for your life. I think most of us would fail somewhere along the line as no one can be expected to know the content of all the Bible Books, chapters & verses. Some questions will be easy for you - others may find them difficult. I feel that it is a nice inclusion but rather, to drive us back into God's Word to learn more about Him, the world we live in & the needy people around us.

Knowing God's Will is a vast subject that can't be dealt with here. There are books on this subject, the one by J.I. Packer has been popular & useful. However, the only real way is to spend quality time reading the Bible slowly & carefully, talking to God about what you read & what burdens your heart. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to both teach you & to apply the Truths to your heart & life. As well, from my own experience, patience is another key. We live in a world that "wants it & wants it now" - the Spirit's Word & Timing for us is not regulated by our moods & our time clock. To correctly wait for help & direction, we must spend time understanding God's already revealed Will for us in His Word & to "Keep in step with the Spirit": surprisingly, another of Packer's publications!

An excellent post Spike4187. You have understood 2 Sam 1:26 accurately, while homosexuals & the cultural arts have depicted King David as soft & effeminate probably based on this verse alone. "Passing the love of women" in this context can only be understood as 'going beyond the physical expressions of love as would be shown to women", NOT "loving men instead of women". So it should be seen as a love that was entirely different to that which is proposed by these others. In any case, other Scriptures that reveal the mind of God towards such deviant behaviour, both in the OT & NT, should give ample confirmation that such a relationship could never be condoned, only viewed as sinful. Yet, under the Mercy of God, all sinners can be saved if only they acknowledged their sin & turned away from it thereby receiving Grace to live according to God's Holy Standards.

And such a love, as depicted in 2 Samuel & as you have given a great example, in the midst of battle, is a love/friendship forged on proven trust, commitment, reliability, honesty, sound advice, faithfulness, a listening ear & a sensitive heart. Sometimes, this type of love might even go beyond the family home & goes so deep, that the friendship could even echo the verse: "..there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Prov 18:24b. Hope your next meeting with her may see more of the Work of God in her mind & understanding, resulting from your sharing & prayers for her.

From my observations, and I could be wrong, it may be because of the age of the Thread, or that the Thread itself has become too long. You've probably noticed how the latest comments being attached get narrower in appearance. Once I had to read a comment with one word on each line! So, I think 'locking' Threads is a reasonable thing to do & after all, a person can just start a new Comment since a lot of our comments disappear into antiquity very soon.

I feel you're correct in your understanding of the Cross. The Acts 5:30 use of 'tree' would most likely be alluding to the Cross as shaped from the 'wood' of the trees. Of course, the shape of Jesus' Cross cannot be known as it's not revealed to us, but given the many forms of 'Cross executions' by the Romans, the Crux Commissa (or, the T shape) was the likely one which typified the way our Lord was crucified & allowed for the placement of the sign above his Head.

Hi Brian, the KJV is not a "Protestant Bible brought out of the Protestant Reformation." That characterization suggests bias and that wouldn't be a fair assumption and charactization for 2 reasons:

    1. The KJV is an accurate Bible transation. It has nothing to do with divisions or sects of Christianity. The translation is transparent and the word by word careful translation can be verified by anyone.

    2. The KJV is read not just by protestants, but catholics, mormons, and other faiths.

It sounds like the real question posed is since the KJV Bible is accurate, why do some groups such as catholics alter it and add/remove books from their Bibles. For that you'd have to ask the catholics. Secondly, such Bibles are not KJV. The KJV is the one in this site and many others across the web and they have the same books, so you won't find variations as suggested by the question other than the apocrypha. The old testament was written in Hebrew and new testament in greek, so I don't understand the original question about greek having different books. God bless.

I cannot believe a couple of months have gone by since I found this site, and remembered to come back to it. I am humbled that you all came to help me. Thank you so much. Just having someone to talk through is a blessing in itself. I have since bookmarked it.

I haven't found a church yet, as I don't get out much. Since my Mother passed in '95, losing my best and dearest friend, and the other friends all moved away, as life goes, I more or less pulled inside myself with my grief. I did try to make new friends, but I do not seem to be the person I was, and just couldn't get past or trust my aching heart. So I just kept to myself. I know now that I should have gotten some grief counseling, as I ended up have carotid artery surgery and then a tripe by pass, which really brought me down, and that is a very long story.

I did buy a bible, however, after I found this site, although I am not sure I am getting much out of it. But I am going to do as Mishael suggested and start at the end...John. I say my prayers most every night, the RC Act of Contrition, The Hail Mary, the Lords Prayer, and end with the Glory Be, like on the Rosary beads. I am now starting to wonder about the Hail Mary. I have listened to The Growing Awareness, on Utube as well as GoodDog. And have heard so much stuff that quite frankly amazes me, and they claim it's all in the bible. Some is quite amazing and uplifting, some seems a little frightening, and some, I really cannot quite wrap my arms around.

The Satanic stuff really scares me. And the human trafficking is overwhelming. But since learning about the vatican etc...I am really glad that I got out of that. I believe my eyes are open now to a lot of the things that I did not see.

One thing I do know, is that God is great and he has been with me through my trials. I know that now. He has been leading me where I believe he wants me to go, and he has healed me when I needed it most. God Bless.
