Good evening Chris and all. Likely more can be found in The Martyrs Mirror by Thieleman J. van Braght, however the particular confessions of faith that two of which I have written on this website, are part of 18 articles drawn up at Dortecht Holland in 1632, the confession says at a certain peace convention on April 21. More information can be found at Gospel Publishers in Moundridge, Kansas. I, myself am a baptized member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite with no Mennonite background on my blood side. After being born again by faith and repentance and later baptized I then met my future wife whose ancestors were likely from some of the Churches that signed this particular confession.

Our times right now are testing every Christian, myself included.

God Bless our sharing and that He will increase our fervent love towards one another.

    Have we met Chris?

Please pray for Cathy to be healed of cancer tonight; her situation does not look good, but our God is able to rescue her like the young lady recently declared dead and found alive in a Detroit funeral home. Praise the Lord for His compassion, mercy, and power. May we be encouraged by His promises in 1 John 5:13-15. Please also pray for my cousin in NC; she lost her sister this morning and 4 relatives this month. God is faithful and good! We thank Him for totally healing Barbara of cancer and for giving her back to her family. Pray that the WORD continues to go forth and change lives. May we focus on 1 Peter 3 and ask the Lord to help us focus on His ways. Lord, please be with the readers here and comfort each and every person who posted prayer requests. We thank you for hearing us and assuring us of your salvation. Thank you for your Holy Spirit's work in our lives and the plan you have for us according to Romans 8. May You receive all the glory and praise. In Christ's name, amen.

Denny, Deut 6:6-9 was God's instruction to His people, Israel, on how they needed to deal with the Law & Statutes that were given to them. So God first tells them, "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart" v6. So the important thing was for them to store up God's Law in their hearts & minds, as we would also do today with the Bible, however, since there was very little by way of 'hard copies' of the Law at that time, memory & regular rehearsal of the Law was paramount.

Yet, one thing that was set as a physical reminder to prompt them to find recourse to the Law & to God's Mercy on them, was to do what was required in vv 8 & 9: "And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates." This was a physical act to remind them, just as some today would 'tie a string around the finger or wrist'.

So portions of the Law were bound to the arm or placed in small 'packets' on their foreheads as their reminder to remember & observe God's Laws. The (mezuzahs) were also attached to the gates of their homes & passers by would touch it & repeat Psalm 121:8. I should say, that some feel that God did not intend for objects to be used but He spoke of them in the spiritual sense, i.e. to store them in their hearts. We don't have proof of how Israel in Moses' day actually carried out this command.

However, in Jesus' day, the Scribes & Pharisees changed the significance of this observance. Rather than promoting the keeping of God's Laws, they somewhat diverted the focus more onto themselves by making the small 'packets' much, much bigger, as well as making their garment tassels long & more conspicuous. Jesus derided them on their hypocrisy in this & other matters: Matthew 23:1-12. Today, the pious Jews usually wear their phylacteries, or tefillin, during prayer times only, so as to observe the commandment.

The only name you can be saved by is Jesus

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 20: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

ACTS 4: 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Philippians 2: 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

PLUS Israel is the people of GOD governed by the Shepherd of Bethlehem ( Matt 2:6 and Micah 5:2).. that's Jesus Christ... not anyone else". Also, there's no W in Hebrew so YHVH whereas the ancient Hebrew Masoretes recorded the name as "YeHowah" or "YeHovah" nearly 7000 times throughout the Hebrew BIble. The form "Yahweh" is a more recent "guess" at the pronunciation, found in The Corruped Catholic Douay Bible. . Scholars have found the Ya, Yah, Yahu names in Babylonian tablets from around 2500BC. Abraham was not born until 1800BC. Israel as a nation did not exist until 1400BC when they came out of Egypt And the Ya, Yah, Yahu name existed before they were even in the world. In 2500BC there was no Greek empire or nation. In 2500BC there was no Persian empire or nation. This leaves us with the Hittite and Egyptian as the only existing kingdoms or nations of people. And, in both the Hittite and Egyptian kingdoms there is a ya, yah, god. The Yah god in Egypt is the moon god.

The Hebrew language was a dead language from about 100bc till the 1850's. This new Hebrew language is in no wise like the old language of the Torah. It is a completely different language. Back in Jesus's time everyone understood Greek, and an assortment of other languages, but everyone understood Greek because Greece was the super power before the Romans took over. The Romans spoke Latin and Greek. Any ways that's why all of the new testament was written in Greek. Also, the old testament (Torah) was translated into Greek way before Jesus came. And every synagogue in the known world had a copy of the Torah in Greek in their synagogue. is the Greek word for iesus which became Jesus later in our english. Only the old testament was written in Hebrew. Do research before you fall into the Lies of the new Hebrew movement Heresy. The name "yeshua" was unknown to any Christian for the 1st 1200 years of Christianity... Jesus, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul, Jude and James all called Jesus "Iesuos" (Greek) NOT yeshua in the new Hebrew. In the Heretical book of the Talmad they call Jesus yeshua as an insult and says he's is boiling in eternal excrement according to them. Hebrew was UNKNOWN to any scriptures prior to 1200AD when the very scribes Jesus warned us about introduced this backward written language.. look it up, there were ONLY 2 heretics in the history of Christianity that even pretended to know Hebrew (Origen and Jerome). If God wanted us to called him Yeshua, He would have told someone other than 13th century AD Jews who use the word "yeshua" as a derogatory term in their Talmud.

Jesus uses these words to describe the nature of unbelief and our separation from Him because of our original sin. We really are void when it comes to spiritual knowledge, or as to the things around us? Nature is a prime example!

Tina, God will always have a remnant that will follow Him, strive to be holy & be faithful to Him even unto death. Luke 9:23, 14:27, 1 Corinthians 1:18. These are those who take up their cross daily & have their eyes & hearts constantly focused on their Saviour. We see all that's happening in the world with sadness & horror, but we know that the work of Satan has been going on since Eden & has been increasing ever since. I sometimes wonder what state the world would be in had Christ not come & the Gospel not gone out into all the world. Of course, had that happened, God would probably have closed the curtains of this corrupted creation as it was only the coming of our Lord at the appointed time that spared the Arm of the Lord from destroying the world. His mercies to us were great, without which we would indeed be consumed.

Yet, even though we are quick to accuse people for their ungodliness, immorality & rampant sin, we see a lot of contributing factors, to which Satan has a foothold. A baby is born in innocence, with a sin nature, but with no knowledge of error. Bad parenting, atheistic misguided governments & disregard to the Holy Scriptures have majorly contributed to our grievous immorality. Not that we would have been freed from the things that you speak of, but godliness would have been the order of the day, clear moral directives & boundaries set & crimes against God & society would be dealt with correctly. All this of course, will never happen as Satan has full control of the minds & lives of the majority.

Yet the Gospel of Jesus has gone out & many lives have been saved & turned towards holy living, yet I have this nagging thought, was the Gospel only meant to be the means for a personal life turnaround, or to also strongly influence society with the requirements of God? Some have attempted to do so, but as a whole, we have failed as Christians. We have failed to stand for Truth & Righteousness & thus have to bear some responsibility for our lot.

    For your consideration:

    The seven churches, seven seals and seven trumpets represent periods of time concerning the Christian church throughout history. Regarding the seven seals;

The first seal describes the spread of the gospel starting with the time of the apostles and the newly founded Christian church. Mentioned several times in the New Testament, during this time the gospel reached all of the then known world and it did so rapidly. A white horse would represent a pure gospel message.

The red horse (color of blood) of the second seal describes the consequences of rejecting the gospel beginning in the second century. As Christ is waging spiritual warfare through the preaching of the gospel, the forces of evil render strong resistance. Inevitably, persecution follows.

The scene of the third seal (black horse) points to the further consequences of rejecting the gospel, beginning in the fourth century, as the church gained political power. If the white horse represents the preaching of the gospel, the black horse denotes the absence of the gospel and the reliance on human traditions.

The fourth seal horse is pale. The rider's name is Death; meanwhile, Hades accompanies him. These two are allowed to destroy people by sword, hunger, death, and wild beasts over one fourth of the earth. This would correlate in time with the dark ages.

The scene of the fifth seal applies historically to the period leading up to, and following, the Reformation, during which millions were martyred because of their faithfulness.

The sixth seal predicted a 1. Great earthquake; 2. Events in the sun, moon and stars. The sun became black as sackcloth, the moon became like blood, and the stars fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its late figs. the Lisbon earthquake, in 1755; the dark day of May 19, 1780; and the spectacular meteor shower over the Atlantic Ocean, on November 13, 1833. The fulfillment of this prophecy, in Revelation 6:12-14 led to a series of revivals.

We are seeing all this happen and it's getting much worst than ever before. I go out and all I see is vileness and ungodliness everywhere I look. People have absolutely no respect or compassion for others. Dignity is dead and morals have been tossed out the window. People especially the young generation think they're above the laws and want to do whatever they want with no consequences or accountability. The amount of wickedness and disrespect I see is terrible. People in this world have chosen not to obey God and his commandments and as a result are walking in spiritual darkness. Turn on the news and all you see is too much violence and killing going on. It's getting impossible to find people who are holy and walking with God. We should be following God and obeying him. Please everybody turn back to God and repent. Stop sinning and start living holy now! We are living in the end times.
  • Confessing Jesus With The Mouth - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 4:16 - 5 years ago
If they had confessed their belief in Jesus to you or others; that's what matters. Read these scriptures and be at peace in your heart about it. We don't hear what people pray in the middle of the night, alone in their bed. So, Believe the best.

    Matthew 10:32

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

    Luke 12:8

Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

    Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

    1 John 4:15

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

    John 12:42

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

    Romans 14:11

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

    Philippians 2:11

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Revelation 3:5

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

    Romans 15:9

And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

    John 9:22

These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

    1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

May Jesus be your Peace, Mishael

The first words to simon and Andrew were to follow me and I will make you fishers of men! Fishermen of men! This is the message that indeed, as you say is not being spoken. Christ is the way . Why are repeating Christs words so difficult? Why is the church not inviting people to be baptised and saved, no more alter calls. Not unlike Pastor Billy Graham! Baptism should be like when John Baptised Jesus in the Jordan river. People should be called like never before! Pastors ,deacons, elders, young and old should be shouting out the name of Jesus! Jesus always said, never be afraid! Preach the gospel, in and out of season, always! The marriage is ready! call everyone from the hi ways and byways. Indeed his kingdom is at hand,Jesus wants all men to be saved. The marriage is ready! The church today is stuck! Stuck with their idea that perhaps there is another way of salvation, a salvation based on works! Perhaps it thinks its vial doesn't need to be full, that it can share its oil with another mans idea, and still be ready when Christ arrives? Based on an idea that there is something else that needs to be done! We need to exalt Christ, our redeemer from sin and eternal death. There is salvation in none other ,but the blood of Jesus Christ!

Hello, beware of fake news and false teaching that satan spreads around to deceive Christians looking for an alternate identity of privilege. The fact is we all have our identity in Christ and anything outside of that is often an attempt to pursue the flesh- status, identity, value, found not in Christ, but an imitation substitute. I don't know if this describes you or not, but we're seeing more and more people be baited into a deception. Keep your armor on and stand guard to protect against satan and his lies.

Just a little comment concerning the Jewish people. Not all who say they are Jews, are true Jews, there are Edomites etc. But, it is sad to see that the Messianic's are never included. They are in the middle. The Jews don't want them and the Christians don't either, and yet they love Yeshua passionately, and do their best to live according to His Will. I know I am one.

All...what we have to understand it's not by our will but by HIS will alone that anything happens! 1corinthians 3:7 We don't save anyone, we don't choose ourselves to be saved it's all HIS will! Because HE loved you enough to allow you to see HIS glory and wake up one day!! THAT'S real facts...now you spread that seed of knowledge you have been given and then if He sees fit HE will give increase to those that hears HIS WORD!!(YAHUSHUA)

This is one article of my faith too, from brethren 389 years ago last spring. Is there really anything new under the son?

    Carleton

    "Of Revenge"

As regards revenge, that is to oppose an enemy with the sword, we believe & confess that the Lord Christ has forbidden & set aside to His disciples & followers all revenge & retaliation, & commanded them to render to no one evil for evil or cursing for cursing, but to put the sword into the sheath, or as the prophets have predicted, to beat the swords into ploughshares.

From this we understand that, according to His example, we must not inflict pain, harm, or sorrow upon anyone, but seek the highest welfare & salvation of all men, & even if necessity requires it, flee for the Lord's sake from one city or country into another, & suffer the spoiling of our goods; that we must not harm anyone, & when we are smitten, rather turn the other cheek than to take revenge or retaliate.

And moreover, that we must pray for our enemies, feed and refresh them whenever they are hungry or thirsty, & thus convince them by well doing, & overcome all ignorance.

Finally, that we must do good and commend ourselves to every man's conscience; & according to the law of Christ, do unto others that which we would have others do unto us.

    Hebrews 9:26

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:

but now once in the end of the world hath appeared to put away sin by sacrifice of himself.

    Hebrew 9:27

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.

    Hebrews 9:28

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
